Getting consistent 500 URL Rewrite Module Errors on Azure websites

We can't seem to narrow down why these are occurring. There is no rhyme or reason, up and down for the whole site. Or sometimes most of the pages load but then some can't load any JS resources. We have already tried the following:
- Restarted site
- scaled site up down
- pointed DNS CNAME direct to site eliminating the traffic manager. No change there issue still occurs.
Anyone have any ideas on how to track this down?

Hi,
There is no issue from our side, I just checked and all the website services are up and running without any issues.
I would request you to check now and see if you are getting the same error.
If you are facing the same issue, then I would request you to check this link:

Hope it helps.

  • URL Rewrite Rule: HTTP to HTTPS Not Working

    Here is my problem. I cannot get HTTP to HTTPS redirect to work using the URL Rewrite module. I am using version 2, by the way, which I understand is the latest version. I've also enabled the "Proxy Server" and Application Request Routing"
    features.
    I've trolled through the Internet for 2 days now for solutions to my problem, including the ones provided by the TechNet forums and by MVP Scott Forsyth. I've tried over 30 solutions, and none have resolved my issue. Granted some of the solutions I've tried
    may have been repeats of others. After trying so many, I have had a hard time discerning the differences. Does it really matter, for instance if the pattern match for the {HTTPS} input is specified as
    "^off$" or just "off"? I see this discrepancy (among others) everywhere. It seems like there are so many variations out there. It is quite confusing for the uninitiated and the newbies like myself to the
    URL Rewrite technology. I have enabled and consulted my "Failed Request Tracing Rules" logs but cannot make any sense of the cryptic information it is providing.
    I just cannot get my reverse proxy server to redirect http requests from the Internet to https to my internal web server. When a user specifies "https://server1.xxxxx.com". he is able to access the internal server via the reverse proxy (IIS) server.
    But when he specifies "http://server1.xxxxx.com" he receives "Server Error 500 - Internal server error.There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed."
    At this point I am at my wits end, and am even considering configuring the protocol translation on our firewall. But this not my preference as it presents another layer of complexity, and device to troubleshoot later on. Below I've pasted my entire web.config
    file with my most current version of the rule in question (in bold) for your review. I started to paste just the specific rule, but thought you might need to see the entire file in case something else may be conflicting with the rule.
    Thank you in advance for your help.

  • ColdFusion with IIS URL Rewrite - Page never finishes loading

    I am running CF10 on IIS 7.5 with URL Rewrite module installed.
    All the rewrite rules work perfectly and ColdFusion is returning the correct pages. In order to get the page displayed in the browser I have to manually set the 'content-length' value in Application.cfc like this:
    <cfcomponent>
    <cffunction name="onRequestEnd">
    <cfheader name="Content-Length" value="#getPageContext().getCFOutput().getBuffer().size()#" />
    </cffunction>
    </cfcomponent>
    Without this code the browser does not display the page. However, even though it is now displaying the page, it is not doing it correctly. The page never finishes loading fully and not all of the HTML content seems to be on the page.
    I have tried to add a <cfflush> tag after setting the 'content-length' but it makes no difference. I don't understand why this is happening but I know that it has happened to someone else who was using htaccess: http://forums.devshed.com/coldfusion-development-84/page-not-finishing-loading-coldfusion- and-htaccess-bug-575906.html
    Can anyone please help?

    Hi guys,
    I would like to do url rewriting on our CF app but am worried I'll break something if I try and do it myself - is there anyone who would be interested in a bit of consultancy to help us achieve this?
    I want to turn http://www.allchichesterjobs.com/search-results.cfm?sector=21&q=part-time-jobs
    into http://www.allchichesterjobs.com/part-time-jobs
    I've tried this using IIS and URL Rewrite, when I browsed to http://www.allchichesterjobs.com/search-results.cfm?sector=21&q=part-time-jobs
    my browser was redirected to http://www.allchichesterjobs.com/part-time-jobs ok - but then I got a 404 error
    I'm wondering if I can pay someone to remote view my screen while we talk on skype and tell me what to do?
    Hope it's ok to post this sort of request on here
    Thanks very much indeed.

  • IIS Reverse Proxy with URL rewrite.

    Hi all, hoping to leverage the wealth of knowledge contained here.
    Any assistance would be very welcome.
    I'm having an issue getting a reverse proxy and URL rewrite working in IIS 7.0.
    I need to redirect all requests with a specific virtual directory suffix only.
    ie; https://domain.test.com/outbound/Content/query_etc
    With /Outbound/ being the trigger.
    This should be redirected to http://10.10.10.10/inbound/Content/query_etc
    While at the same time, requests without the /outbound/ suffix should be handled locally.
    I have configured the reverse proxy as described in a few articles, and have had no luck.
    Here's a snippet from my (sanitized) web.config at the site level.
    <rewrite>
    <outboundRules>
    <rule name="ReverseProxyOutboundRule1" preCondition="ResponseIsHtml1">
    <match filterByTags="A" pattern="^http(s)?://10.10.10.10/inbound/(.*)" />
    <action type="Rewrite" value="https://domain.test.com/outbound/{R:2}" />
    </rule>
    <preConditions>
    <preCondition name="ResponseIsHtml1">
    <add input="{RESPONSE_CONTENT_TYPE}" pattern="^text/html" />
    </preCondition>
    </preConditions>
    </outboundRules>
    <rules>
    <rule name="ReverseProxyInboundRule1" stopProcessing="true">
    <match url="^outbound/(.*)" />
    <action type="Rewrite" url="http://10.10.10.10/inbound/{R:1}" appendQueryString="true" logRewrittenUrl="false" />
    </rule>
    </rules>
    </rewrite>
    To me, this looks correct, yet it doesn't work.
    With this, I get the normal 404 - Error Code 0x80070002, with the text indicating the local directory doesn't exist, so.... not being picked up by the filter for redirection.

    Hi Andrew,
    Looking at your requirements it appears you need Reverse Proxy To Another Site/Server.
    By using URL Rewrite Module together with
    Application Request Routing module you can have IIS 7 act as a
    reverse proxy.
    It seems like URL Rewrite can't re-route the request somewhere else out of the server.
    Even when you rewrite the url the actual connection remains with the server. Hence if your original server doesn't have /inbound/Content/query_etc  it will fail with 404.
    Hosting multiple domain names under a single account using URL Rewrite.
    It’s a common desire to have a single IIS website that handles multiple sites with different domain names.

  • Rewrite module not working in iis 8

    Hi All,
    I have a SharePoint site hosted in ports 1122 and I have configured alternate access mapping to "http://batman".
    Now, I want if some body types "http://batman" then it should get redirected to some other site. For this I am using URL Rewrite module. My rule is
    <rule name="Redirect Batman" stopProcessing="true">
              <match url="(.*)" />
                  <conditions>
                         <add input="{HTTP_HOST}" negate="true" pattern="^http://batman$" />
                  </conditions>
                      <action type="Redirect" url="http://sedwdevrtm:11731/{R:1}" redirectType="Permanent" />
       </rule>
    which is not working at all. Please suggest something.

    Hello Alok,
    Can you check if it is related to the rule? You can do this by creating a simple redirect rule without a condition and see if that's working.
    Otherwise I would also try posting your question in the IIS forums, like suggested in this thread:

  • Apache URL rewrite

    Hi,
    To make iPlanet work with apache, documentation ask me to change
    httpd.conf so that all request comes into apache will forward to
    iPlanet.
    But I need to use URL rewrite module of apache contains the rewrite rule
    RewriteRule ^/lmp
    /NASApp/delivery/servlet/delivery;jsessionid=%{QUERY_STRING} [PT,NS]
    which means if URL contains /lmp then rewrite to iPlanet handler
    /NASApp/...etc
    any one had successfully configure apache mod_rewrite works with
    iPlanet?
    In my pervious experience with Tomcat apache. I realize I have to load
    the web-server-plugin module before module rewrite module. But if I do
    that with iAS. then i get 404 not found on request to servlet.
    thanks

    We use iPlanet and apache with mode_rewrite
    Try this:
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteLog /usr/local/apache/logs/rewrite.log
    RewriteLogLevel 1
    # Rewrite Rules for App1
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^app1.company.de$
    RewriteRule ^/ https://myiWS.company.de:8011/NASApp/app1/mystartup.jsp

  • IIS 7.5 URL Rewrite: Hit specific page of a web application but should be redirected to another application's page

    I have deployed 2 different web application on IIS 7.5 running on Windows Server 2008 R2 but on different port numbers i.e. one application deployed on port no. 1776 and another on 8091. I want to rewrite URL in such a way that if i hit any page of first
    application such as default.aspx then it will be redirected to particular page of another application along with some changes in url.
    Example: if i access any page from first application like:
    http://g2wv126rbsc:1776/sites/main/commercial/commercial-solutions/financing/default1.aspx
    then it should redirect to specific page of another application along with some changes in url:
    http://g2wv126rbsc:8091/main/commercial/commercial-solutions/financing/default2.aspx
    Note: In above mentioned url, also removed "sites".
    I tried to create a inbound rule through URL Rewrite module (installed on IIS 7.5) by selecting Action as "Rewrite" but didn't find any success.
    I need some examples if anyone has come across same kind of issue.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Could not load application module error in EBS 12.0.6 / JDev 10.1.3.3

    Hi,
    JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0.3
    Oracle EBS 12.0.6
    I have extended a seeded VO (added only 1 new column). I am able to run the application successfully from JDev. I can see that the seeded VO is substituted by new VO when I click on "About this Page" - "Business Component References Details". The new column is also displayed upon personalization.
    I uploaded the substitution using JPXImport successfully. I can the substitution in the database too.
    begin
      jdr_utils.listcustomizations('/oracle/apps/icx/por/rcv/server/CorrectBySupplierVO');
    end;
    Output:
    /oracle/apps/icx/por/rcv/server/customizations/site/0/CorrectBySupplierVOI deployed the files by zipping the oracle directory under C:\jdevhome\jdevhome\jdev\myclasses\xxxllc folder. I uploaded it to $JAVA_TOP and unzipped the file over there. I also verified the zip file using the command: unzip -t oracle.zip
    After deploying, I bounced apache and cleared the cache.
    Now when I run the application from EBS, I too am getting "Could not load application module" error.
    I verified that both the files for ReceivingHomeAM exist in $JAVA_TOP/oracle/apps/icx/por/rcv/server directory.
      -rw-r--r--  1 appld29 oinstall 4875 Apr 21  2008 ReceivingHomeAMImpl.class
      -rw-r--r--  1 appld29 oinstall 1548 Apr 21  2008 ReceivingHomeAM.xmlI read almost every message with this error but could not find a solution. Can somebody please help me in case I have overlooked a step? It is quite frustrating that everything works from JDev but not in EBS.

  • Server 2012 R2 essentials url rewrite to exchange 2013 breaks remote web workplace

    Hi all
    Have a server 2012 r2 with essentials experience installed and an exchange 2013 sp1 on a member server.
    I have 2 certificates
    remote.domain.com for the essentials rww
    mail.domain.com for exchange owa
    I have added the administrator account to enterprise admins and have joined the exchange server with the essentials connector, so it appears on the dashboard.
    Both certificates are installed correctly.
    I have installed ARR 3.0 and created a serverfarm mail.domain.com and accepted that it created url rewrite for me.
    Server farm does not have ssl offload enabled.
    The url rewrite is setup like this:
    Requested url: matches pattern, Using: Wildcards, Pattern *
    Conditions: Match All, Input: HTTPS, Type: Matches the pattern, Pattern: ON
    Action: Route to server farm
    Scheme: https://, Server farm: mail.domain.com, Path: /{R:0}
    Stop processing of subsequent rules: checked
    Now pointing protokol 443 til the IP of the essentials server and navigating to https://mail.domain.com/owa brings the owa logon page with my trusted server certificate and all.
    Everything works fine.
    If I then navigate to https://remote.domain.com/remote then the webpage should show the login to the essentials remote web workplace.
    But instead it shows a some what crippled version, like forms and pictures missing and it is obviously not working.
    Trying to troubleshoot i changed the url rewrite from wildcards to exact match and put owa into the pattern field.
    Then my remote web workplace showed up correctly with the matching certificate and all was fine.
    But now owa shows a 404 directory not found.
    I guess I need some help on this.
    Somehow that server farm and the url rewrite, messes up my default website, with the remote site.
    Much appreciated...
    \Lars

    Lars,
    RE-Run the WSE wizard to reset the Internet settings.
    Remove ARR and URLReWrite.
    Once removed reboot.
    Install ARR and URLReWrite again by downloading.
    Do NOT configure any farm settings.
    Use the ARRConfig utility that comes with WSE:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj200172.aspx
    That TN page explains how to run the utility. Make sure you have exported the mail certificate including Public Key and Extended Properties first.

  • 502 Error Calling Azure SQL Database In Another Region From Azure Website

    I run this code which works fine on the desktop or in an Azure VM but fails with a 502 error in Azure Website.  Interestingly, the failure is instant and catastrophic with all exception handling bypassed.  Took a long time to track the code down:
    The failure is in the constructor for SqlConnection which has a valid connection string (tested on the desktop, Azure VM and SSMS).  The originating Azure Website is in South East Asia and the database is in South Central US.
    Does anyone have any ideas why or what can be done about it?
    Code:
    return; // returning here OK
    SqlConnection connUS = new SqlConnection(connectionStringRegionUS); // this connection string works on desktop & SSMS
    return; // returning here throws 502 error

    Many thanks to  Colin Mierowsky who put me onto the right track.  I created a static X509Certificate elsewhere in the same class.  The standard declaration caused this **VERY** misleading 502 error.  Adding the storage flags X509KeyStorageFlags.MachineKeySet
    | X509KeyStorageFlags.Exportable to the X509Certificate constructor made the problem go away.  The correct code for the constructor in Azure Website is:
    X509Certificate2 cert = new X509Certificate2(key
    , password
    , X509KeyStorageFlags.MachineKeySet | X509KeyStorageFlags.Exportable);

  • Portal 7.1 with AM in realm mode, getting HTTP 500 error after portal login

    Hi!
    I have installed AM in Realm mode and on another webserver Portal. Worked fine so far with the standard users (Enterprise sample and such)
    Now I have created an organisation with ldap authentication module which points to corporate ldap and set the flag "Return User DN to Authenticate:" to false.
    Now I get after Login on the edit User Page the following Universal ID:
    Universal ID: id=rc017706,ou=user,o=internal,o=xxx,ou=services,o=portal
    When I login to portal, I get a 500 error, and logfiles tells me:
    [#|2007-09-02T19:47:15.996+0200|SEVERE|SJS Portal Server|debug.com.sun.portal.desktop|ThreadID=14; ClassName=com.sun.portal.desktop.DesktopServlet; MethodName=doGetPost; |PSDT_CSPD0017: DesktopServlet.doGetPost()
    com.iplanet.am.sdk.AMException: Unable to get attributes from data store.
    at com.iplanet.am.sdk.ldap.DirectoryServicesImpl.getAttributes(DirectoryServicesImpl.java:791)
    amSDK:WARNING: Exception in DataLayer.getAttributes for DN: id=rc017706,ou=user,o=internal,o=xxx,ou=services,o=portal
    How to I setup an external ldap for authentication in realm mode for use with portal 7.1? Can somebody tell me where my error lies?
    Thanks for any hints, Christoph

    Yes, copy config is enabled in all organisations.
    I also tried to create an ldap data store instead of amsdk, but same behavior.
    I have "fixed" the issue through a hack now by creating my own ldap login module, simply copied the original one and replaced LDAPPrincipal with my own version. It returns now a correct dn for the user in portal instead of the username only.
    Works this way. Alas, it is just a hack...
    As far as I can see, the problem is in the IDRepository. Its somewhat:
    If (username is a DN) return username;
    else return UniversalID;
    This universal ID is then used by ps to get desktop information and since it is not a valid dn in ldap the desktop servlet cannot proceed...
    I guess the problem does not appear in your environment. Maybe it was introduced with update 1? Do you use update 2?
    Thanks, Chris

  • ACE module SSL url rewrite and path rewrite

    Hi all,
    I'm hoping some of you helpful people on this forum can guide me or suggest a solution to a problem I'm faced with.
    I am currently load balancing exchange 2010 traffic via an ACE module.  Software version is A2(3.3).  I have most parts of it working fine however I am having an issue when it comes to SSL termination for Outlook Web Access (OWA).
    The problem comes down to a HTTP header (field is location).  I have configured an action list to re-write the SSL pure URL as per page 96 of the "Cisco Application Control Engine Module SSL Configuration Guide".  example:
    ssl url rewrite location bnecas\.mycompany\.com sslport 443
    That part works, the http header location field that comes back from the GET request is changed to https://cas.mycompany.com which is great.  However, in addition to that url, there is also a path or something following that part.  The actual string that is returned is:
    https://cas.mycompany.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?url=http://cas.mycompany.com/owa/&reason=0
    The first bit of it, (https://cas.mycompany.com) is changed by the ssl url rewrite command, however the last part (http://cas.mycompany.com/owa/&reason=0) isn't changed.
    This is where I've been trying to get the http Header Rewrite command to do something.  I don't know if it can work in conjunction with the ssl url rewrite function however with the ssl rewrite function it seems it can't change bits of the string that aren't the pure URL at the front.
    The end result is that while I have an SSL connection to the OWA login page, when I do login to OWA it reverts back to HTTP.  I'm fairly sure it is because of the last part of the location string above.  Is there a way to change that location string to do the following:
    1.  change the first part of the string to be https://cas.mycompany.com (like the ssl url rewrite function)
    2.  change the last part of the location string to put https in there instead of http
    Ideally I would love to have this string
    http://cas.mycompany.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?url=http://cas.mycompany.com/owa/&reason=0
    replaced with this one
    https://cas.mycompany.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?url=https://cas.mycompany.com/owa/&reason=0
    I had originally tried the following in the action list:
    header rewrite response location header-value "(owa/auth/logon\.aspx\?url=)http(://bnecas\.thiess\.aus/owa/&reason=0)" replace "%1https%2"
    ssl url rewrite location bnecas\.mycompany\.com sslport 443
    but it didn't work.  I'm probably screwing up the regex somewhere however there doesn't seem to be very clear examples anywhere I can find.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated and of course I will be sure to rate every post that responds to my plea for help.

    mso-para-margin:0in;
    mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt;
    mso-pagination:widow-orphan;
    font-size:11.0pt;
    font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";
    mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri;
    mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;
    mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";
    mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast;
    mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri;
    mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;
    mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman";
    mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;}
    action-list type modify http X
      header rewrite response Location header-value "http://(.*url=)http://(.*)" replace "https://%1https://%2"
    we wont be using ssl url rewrite in this case
    Also we will be needing persistence rebalance applied through application parameter map and apply that under the VIP class
