Getting Dates to your desire

Hi there,
I want the Date to be in the string format and also I don't want the time part of the date. I am using a Calendar for this purpose to trim that part by Instantiating a DateFormat.. and I ended up something like this
import java.util.Date;
import java.util.Calendar;
import java.text.DateFormat;
import javax.swing.*;
(some code above)
public JTextField DateFld = new JTextField();
Calendar cal;
DateFormat myDate = DateFormat.getDateInstance(DateFormat.MEDIUM);
cal = cal.getInstance();
myDate.setCalendar(cal);
String date = cal.getTime().toString();
DateFld.setText(date);
(some code below)But this wouldn't work I can't get the desired results. The output is the same (Wed Mar 23 16:11:44 GMT+05:00 2005).
I only want the Day, Month and the Year.
What should I do?

Check the SimpleDateFormat class, it does what you
want.
SimpleDateFormat DMY = new
SimpleDateFormat("dd-MM-yyyy");
String strdate = DMY.format(in);Where "in" is a Date object.Thanks man it worked Perfectly.....
