  • How do I get documents stored in iCloud from the Goodreader app?

I understand how to do this from within Apple's 3 main document apps, but how do I access files backed up there from 3rd party apps on my Mac, when the apps have no desktop equivalent??

The work around is to download them back to the ipad, then transfer them within itunes, but this is really clumsy and timeconsuming - hoping there is a better way....

  • Attaching documents stored in iCloud to an e-mail.

I am storing documents in iCloud.  I would like to attach a document (or several documents) to an e-mail to send them to clients, other attorneys, etc.  I can attach documents stored on my Mac, but how do I attach documents stored in iCloud?  I am using Apple's mail program.

When composing a message in Mac Mail, you can access your iCloud Documents by accessing "all my files" from the finder drop-down menu. You can easily access number, pages and keynote documents.
Also, at the top of the screen, next to where it also says "All My Files" you can sort the files by application, type, etc. This will include all documents stored in icloud, whether it's preview, pages, keynote or numbers.
    Hope this helps.

How do I retrieve documents stored in iCloud and bring them back to my computer?

You can select them in the iCloud Web interface and download them to your Mac. You can do that by right-clicking, or by clicking on the Gear menu in the upper right of the window.

  • "If you turn off iCloud Drive, all documents stored on iCloud will be deleted from this Mac.

My wife changed her iCloud password on her iPhone, and when she went to her iMac she changed her iCloud password there to match the iPhone. Then she got the following message:
"if you turn off iCloud Drive, all documents stored on iCloud will be deleted from this Mac. This appears under her iCloud account. She has Yosemite on her iMac.
    So she's stuck. Any ideas?

The documents remain in iCloud, but are removed from your mac.  So if she turns it off, they will be removed.  If she turns it back on, the documents would again be available.

  • Pages won't open documents stored in iCloud

After a major crash of my iMac after installing Mavericks, I returned to my MacBook Air running Mountain Lion and installed Pages 9.0 (can't reinstall Mavericks on the iMac due to an extremely slow connection)
    Now the problem:
Pages won't show me my previously saved Pages documents in iCloud under "Open existing files". (Actually, it won't even save new documents on iCloud).
    For info:
"Documents and Date" is checked in iCloud system preferences.
All documents show in Finder under an alias folder I created of the Mobile Documents. But I can't open them.
Even "open with" will give me only Terminal as available app.
The only document that will open was a document created after the upgrade to Mavericks on the iMac...
    Any ideas what is wrong?
    Thank you very much

Apple has created a new unified file format for:
    Pages for iOS 2.0.1
Pages 5 for Mac OSX 10.9
    iWork for iCloud beta
    iCloud
Anything going through iCloud now gets converted to the new format.
Pages 5 only runs on OSX 10.9 and can open Pages '09 files but often damages them. It can not open Pages '08 files.
Pages 5 can export files back to Pages '09 but often with a much simpler format as Pages 5 is missing over 90 features.
Pages for iCloud beta uses the new Pages 5 format but lacks UI and many formatting tools.
Pages '09 can not open Pages 5 files at all.
Far from being a format for all it is a format for very few. It requires specific versions of all the software, running on only compatible hardware and operating systems.
I do recommend you stick with Pages '09 just to get your work done and that you do not update to OSX 10.9 Mavericks. This means not being able to transfer files back and forth via iCloud to your iPad. The best you will be able to do is Export to Word .doc and email that to yourself.
The whole arrangement is a rats nest of things going wrong. You are either stuck with the latest version of Pages with very few features, format that nothing else reads and all the bugs, or you use Pages '09 which works but will have it files screwed up by iCloud and can't swap files with the iPad version.

  • Can't see numbers documents stored on iCloud on ipad

My Numbers Spreadsheets are on the cloud, I can access them with my iMac, and my iPhone, but when I open Numbers on my iPad there's nothing there except for the " GETTING STARTED" Document. If I create a spreadsheet on my iPad, it will not upload to the cloud, it just has the up Arrow. My wifi is working, I can access the web with it. All of my settings are turned ON to connect to iCloud, including the Numbers App itself. I see the documents that I have on the cloud if I go to on my iPad Settings> iCloud>Storage & Back up>Manage Storage. I have the iPad one, and cannot upgrade to IOS 6. Am I screwed? I can't believe that Apple is not letting me upgrade a product that is only 2 yrs old.

Mac Pros don't run Classic operating systems.      Mac OS X 10.8 is Mountain Lion.      See options for data recovery here: http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1689

  • How to find documents stored on iCloud?

I am trying to find any and all of my documents on iCloud. This feels like the silliest question, yet I cannot recall and find only Pages, and Contacts and none of my past work.

I am working with it now. Placing a document in iCloud moves it off of your local drive and into the cloud. If you want a local copy, you'll have to duplicate the document and move it to your drive or select "Download" if accessing iWork documents through iCloud.com.

  • How to get documents saved in Icloud via my Ipad

I know this should be easy, but I can't seem to master it.  I have save a document in ICloud via my computer (my computer saves it in Word). Now I want to access it from my Ipad. I have my Doucments & Data setting to "On". I have pages on my IPad. I've pulled that up and can't find the document.  Where will the document be on my Ipad so I can access it?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
How did you save the document and where did you save it to on your Mac, did you save it through Pages or iCloud.com.

  • Pages 5.1(1769) on Mac fails to open my document stored in iCloud

When I select in Pages a document (that was there since march 2013), a dialog pops up saying that it was impossible to open file "my file name.pages.tef".
Any idea on what's going on here ?

.tef is the iCloud storage format (which you are not supposed to see).
Usually corrected by turning off iCloud in the System Preferences and turning it back on again.

  • How to access documents stored on iCloud using my Macbook air and read them on my iPad, how to access documents stored on iCloud using my Macbook air and read them on my iPad

I have set my Icloud account and saved documents on my computer, but I don't know how to read them on my Ipad! Do I have to download an app to my Ipad?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Upload iWork documents from your mac to iCloud.com, if iCloud is configured correctly they will appear in the appropriate iWork application on your iPad.

  • Documents stored in iCloud will not open on Macbook applications

None of the iwork apps; Keynote, Pages, or even Preview will open documents that were saved in icloud. They will open on my iPad, but when i try to open them on my mac, it says "the file ' ' .pages cannot be opened."  I have tried closing and reopening the applications on my computer. I have tried opening various documents but none of them will open. Does anyone know why this would be happening?

Found a solution on another thread from back in 2012.  Wanted to give credit where credit was due, so here you go:

  • Can't back up to icloud and when I try to delete my account says: if you delete your account, all documents stored in Icloud will be deleted from this iphone

I tried to delete the account once and it asked me about saving my info. But now its saying what I listed above and idk what's meant by documents. Like does that incude my apps, contacts?? So what to do?? I have no backups!!

I created a new apple ID and still won't back up UGH!!!!!

  • How do I access a document that's stored on iCloud from my iPhone?

I have an excel document stored on iCloud and I'd like to be able to access and edit it from my iPhone.  I can not figure out how to do this!  If I go to iCloud.com on my iPhone it gives me 3 options 1. set up iCloud on this phone  2. Install Find My iPhone 3. Install Find My Friends.  I already have iCloud set up on my iPhone and it's backing up and doing what it's supposed to.  If I go to iCloud.com on my Mac I can sign in and see my document.  Just can't figure how to see that document and edit it from my phone.  Any ideas???

It's a Numbers (excel) document.  So, I have to have that app first?  When I went to iCloud I could download an already existing .xls page without having to have that app (it was just part of iCloud) - and I don't have Numbers on my iPhone.  Is there any way to view and edit what's on my iCloud?
