Getting flooded with Apple Discussions subscription digest e-mails!

I've gotten 9 identical messages in the last hour. Typically it's only supposed to be one per week! Anyone else having the same problem ATM?

I'm getting flustered and annoyed because I get tens of emails each week from the forum *for issues to which I am not subscribed to*.
It's impossible to change this behavior, whether I try to do it in "My settings", or in "My public profile", or in "My questions", and so on and so forth.
Even reading each individual question that I have posted (all of them solved, BTW) I see the link to "Subscribe to this Topic," which should mean I am not subscribed.
But something in this auto-generated piece of garbage doesn't read what is in it and I'm flooded with *unwanted emails*.
Would some forum administrator (no one can guess who this person may be, there is no way of finding about him or her; any query with "forum administrator" and similar words would give one access to any topic whatsoever that happens to have either or both words, but not what one is looking for) read about this problem and find a way to solve it once and for all?
Please stop annoying us!
Thank you, whoever you are

Some additional efforts you can try:
Go to the System/Sharing preference pane and make sure Remote Apple Events is checked.
If it is, uncheck it and then recheck and try ordering again.

    Hi All,
Need your expert advice and help !
Incoming e-mail has been successfully configured and working fine on SharePoint 2010.
Issue: Badmail folder is getting flooded with millions of junk emails. First Queue folder gets them, and then moves them to Badmail folder. Incoming Email has been successfully configured for SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint list is receiving the emails (there
is a delay, but that is fine!)
Please help. what other information should i provide to help understand this issue better ?

What Reverse DNS Lookup does is attempt to validate that the piece of mail came from an IP that belongs to the domain in the EHLO/HELO command - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/WindowsServer2003/Library/IIS/233c0fde-7315-479a-a7fb-2e9d00ff73fd.mspx?mfr=true
So it doesn't directly filter spam (certainly possible to get spam from GMail/Hotmail servers that Reverse DNS Lookup will see as 'valid').

  • I am getting frustrated with Apple not working with Flash player on some of my favorite web sites. Is there any alternative that will work on I-pad instead of flash?

I am getting frustrated with Apple not working with Flash Player on some of my favorite web sites! Is there another alternative to watching these site options on my I-pad?

Flash is not, and probably never will be, supported on the iPad : http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ . Plus it would be up to Adobe to make a version of their flash player that works on iOS devices - something which they have never managed to do and which they have now given up on trying to do.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter and Puffin 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store, so your could try checking there for your sites (and there is the built-in YouTube app).

  • I am really upset because I have a subscription to Readers Digest on my iPad and can't access my issues.  It asks me for a password and ID I don't have and I can't figure out how to get help from apple or readers digest.

Need help and Apple or Reader's Digest are no help

There is a customer service 800 number on here that may be of some help for you (I hope)
EDIT. I had a link that was working and now it will not work. OK - this is really ticking me off now. Here is a C&P.
    1.
Where can I download the Reader's Digest magazine app?
You can download the app from the Apple App Store : click to RD page in iTunes
    2.
How much does the app cost?
It is free to download the app and there’s a gratis previous issue you can sample. Once you’ve downloaded the app, you can buy individual issues ofReader’s Digest for $3.99 each - the same price you’d pay for the print magazine at a newsstand.
    3.
Can I buy a subscription to Reader’s Digest magazine on the iPad?
Yes. You can get a month-to-month subscription for $1.99 per issue, or you can get a yearly subscription for $14.99.
    4.
I already subscribe to the print version of Reader’s Digest. Can I get the digital issues as part of my subscription?
Yes, for a limited time, U.S. print subscribers can access iPad editions for free. That includes all the additional videos, slide shows, additional articles and cartoons - a terrific value! Just tap the red button at the top right of the screen and follow the instructions. You’ll need the mailing label from a recent issue to enter your subscriber information. Once registered, your email address and ZIP code will serve as your log in username and password.
    5.
Where on the mailing label can I find my subscription account number?
As indicated in the image below, the account number is on the second line from the top of your mailing label. It has 10 digits.
    6.
I entered my account number and ZIP code, but nothing is happening. What should I do?
Call our toll-free Customer Service number: 877-342-4775.
    7.
Is access to the iPad app included for international subscribers?
We’re sorry, but access is available only to subscribers in the United States at this time.
    8.
I’m not seeing a subscription option in my in-app Store  - what gives?
You need to update your app in order to subscribe.
    9.
What content is included in the app?
Everything that is in the print magazine is also in the app. Plus, bonus photos, articles, videos, cartoons and animation, graphics, and various interactive features.
    10.
What devices can the app be used with?
It is available only for the iPad at this time.
    11.
Will new issues be delivered to the app automatically?
Not automatically, but you will receive a notification when each new issue becomes available. If you have subscribed to the app you can download it immediately. If not, you can choose to purchase and download the individual issue.
    12.
Will the issues I purchase expire?
No. Once you purchase an issue, you will have access to it for as long as you keep the app.
    13.
About how much memory does one issue take up?
An average issue will take up between 300 and 500 megabytes. With a good WiFi connection, it should take only a few minutes to download.
    14.
If I delete an issue, can I download it again for free later?
Yes. Simply touch the home icon in the upper left corner of your app to go to see all available issues. Tap the “archive” button next to an issue to remove it from your iPad and free up disc space. You can re-download it for free at any time.
    15.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Your subscription will renew automatically each month (for monthly subscribers) or each year (for annual subscribers) unless you take action to cancel it. To do so, open the "Settings" app on your iPad and select “Store.” Tap on your Apple ID and select “View Apple ID.” Once your account information appears, scroll down to "Manage App Subscriptions." Here you can turn your subscriptions off and on.
    16.
Can I share the digital issue with friends?
No. There are currently no share features available.

  • Safari (only?) errors with Apple Discussion Pages

I have been having connection problems with my ISP -- intermittent inability to load web pages or Widget updates, etc., or just very slow loading. It is extremely intermittent: over the space of an hour or two it can go from full speed cable to near zero to flat out dead.
Complicating things greatly is that sometimes, during the slow-but-not-dead periods, Safari refuses to load Apple Discussions pages at all, displaying error messages with or without an number number, but always saying the connection was lost. Sometimes this is after a minute or so of trying to load the page, which I attribute to the slowness of the connection, but other times it is immediate. When this happens, retry or going to another page with a link back to the first page & trying that continues to get the error immediately.
IOW, Safari won't even try to reload the page. I have tried emptying the cache, but it doesn't help. Other pages will load, but slowly.
At this point, I can get the page to load by copying the URL into Internet Explorer, so I know the page is available & the connection, although slow, is capable of sending the page to my computer.
Does anyone have an explanation for this behavior? Or better yet, a way to convince Safari to try to reload the page?

  • Why am I getting flooded with calls from a deactivated verizon wireless number?

Im not a verizon customer, but after spending several hours on the phone with their customer support to no avail, Im turning to the community for help.
The past two days Ive been flooded with calls from verizon wireless numbers in MO (mostly 636 area code). I try answering, no response. I call back, and after ringing twice I get a prerecorded message - "The verizon wireless number you're trying to call has been changed, disconnected, or is no longer in service", even when calling back seconds of the original call. Occasionally a voicemail is left, and its nothing but exactly 5 seconds of silence.
This is getting very frustrating, since its almost constant. Im averaging 4 calls an hour between the hours of 10am and 9pm, with a couple up until 11pm. I have no idea whats going, and its getting quite irritating, and Im burning through minutes checking and deleting all the voicemails.
Just for reference, some of the numbers are -
    >Phone numbers deleted<
And they all give the same verizon message when called.
Any ideas or suggestions are great.

Your device may have this option:
If I get an annoying call, I will add them to my contact list as Spam and block the number on my device. The call will go straight to VM and funny, a message is never left.Problem Solved.
Also I agree with Jim, if this is a new number for you, just have it changed.

  • Constantly getting pinwheel with apple mail, why?

Company recently upgraded their hosted exchange services to 2010. Since then I have been getting hit with constant spinning pinwheel. Additonally each time i type in a name to send an email to, it is taking a few seconds to find it - Ive been here over 3 years this just started. Any suggestions?

Please follow these instructions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy it to the Clipboard (command-C):
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
    Quit Mail.
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste (command-V) into the box that opens, then press return. A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Relaunch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you'll have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.

  • Safari 4.1.3 issue with Apple Discussions

Several times yesterday and this morning, and continually this evening, I have got the redirect URL below when trying to get to Apple Discussions (index page, or directly to any of the forums I frequent) using Safari 4.1.3 on my iBook G4, running Tiger (10.4.11).
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=97
"We're sorry, Apple Discussions is temporarily unavailable. We'll be back soon.
    Until then, please visit http://www.apple.com/support"
(This one was collected just now.)
Yet, as is obvious from this post, and a couple I've just made in the numbers '09 forum, Apple Discussions is not 'temporarily unavailable' using Firefox.
And Safari 5.0.3 on the iMac (intel, running Leopard v10.5.8) also connects successfully.
I've cleared Safari's cache, but haven't taken any further steps yet.
    Anyone else experiencing anything similar?
    Regards,
    Barry

Deleting cookies coming from discussions and restarting Safari solved the issue.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Changing Apple ID associated with Apple Discussions

I know it's not currently possible to delete a Discussions account nor is it possible to change the alias tied to an existing account. This is most unfortunate and would fix my issue immediately, but I'm sure that this has already been discussed at length. My issue is a little different, though.
A couple of years back I used to subscribe to .Mac and created an Discussions account to use with it. I let that expire a while ago and since signed up for a MobileMe account with the same username. The old one wasn't migrated over so I did have to create an entirely new account with MobileMe. Anyway, this meant that I had to also create a new Discussions account to go along with this new Apple ID (@me.com). The thing is, my old .Mac (@mac.com) is still usable and is what I'm using to post to this board right now.
My question is about migrating the old account. Is there any way that I can somehow migrate this old account to use the new @me.com address as it's Apple ID? If I go to modify my settings through the Discussions page itself, I'm told that I can't change the Apple ID since it's tied to iChat. So now I'm stuck with a Discussions account tied to my old Apple ID but with the alias I'd like to use (this one) and a new Discussions account with my new Apple ID (the one I'd like to use to login to Discussions) but with an alias that I'd really, really, really not like to use (I thought I could change it later and created one I'd rather not have public).
Is my only option to continue using my old Apple ID to login to Discussions to keep the alias I want?
I've now got 3 different Apple IDs and it's not fun. One for Discussions, one for iTunes that I've used for all of my purchases, and now one for MobileMe. Ugh!

I don't understand exactly WHY you want to change. If it is because your email is now @me.com, then all you have to do is change it in your settings. I use mac.com as my Apple ID sign-in but I use my AOL email address.
I thought I was pretty clear in my initial post, but I guess not. I would like to change it so that I don't have three separate Apple IDs. I have one for Discussions, one for iTunes, and one for MobileMe. It's just annoying to have three separate logins for the same company.
I have already updated my contact email address to reflect in Discussions, but this does not change the login address, which is what I was complaining about.
The Apple ID is just a user name for log-in purposes; you can use just about ANYTHING as an Apple ID as long as it is formatted to look like an email address. This is shown by the fact that you have an @mac.com ID but you DON'T have an @mac.com email address.
I totally understand what it is and that's why I find it annoying that I now must manage 3 separate ones to use with Apple products/services. I never expressed any confusion as to what an Apple ID is or what they are used for. In fact, I went into great detail explaining all of the Apple IDs that I have and what they are used for. I'm beginning to wonder if you even read my post. :\
I do agree with you that the hosts here should allow account info be moved to a new account or at least the alias be moved.
Yes, as this would easily fix my issue. I could at least bring it down to two Apple IDs... I could use the same one for Discussions and MobileMe if I could just change my alias.

  • My computer uses Windows XP.  The latest Apple Update for iTunes ruined everything.  It won't load the software, and I'm getting flooded with error messages.  Is this latest update a bunch of crap?

My computers uses WindowsXP.  The latest Apple Software Update put the latest version of iTunes on my computer, and now iTunes doesn't work.  I've tried that instructions on the Apple homepage (delete program, reinstall, etc.), and nothing works.  What's worse is that I'm getting error messages every time I log on to my computer.  Is this latest version a pile of pooh?  Anybody know how to fix this?  Or do I need to wait for Apple to figure out where they screwed up?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
