Getting ilife for an open box product

  • Getting iLife on a open box mac.

I have a family member that just bought an open box comuter at a retailer and is unable to download iLife. I've read that it could have been registered by the previous owner yet when the product was returned the liscense stayed with him even though he doesn't own the product anymore. So the new owner my family member is down iLife and is unable to download it when it should come with just as the OS did. I've heard of Apple warranty reset request forms yet I not been able to find one anywhere in these forums or even mentioned. Does apple have a solution for this? Will there ever be solution for this?

    Micheal,
You still don't comprehend so you are banned from this chat for life. When I bought my mac mini it came with iLife '11 that I got for free I didn't have to for pay it. I linked it to my Apple ID & was able to use it on my other macs since I now own it now for life. So if you buy a new and mac register it you get iLife linked to Apple ID for free no extra charge, zero. Now if you then return that mac to the apple store or what ever other retailer you bought it from you still get to keep the iLife, which I think isn't fair. There are pros and cons to the app store this is one of the cons, being able you use your apps an all your macs if you own more than one pro, I think I read somewhere up to 5. Micheal I also read some of your other posts & it seems I'm the only person you have offended. Your you have such a high level of experience yet no profesionalism, I don't know if it's your ego but your rude. I came to this forum for help not to have my intelligence insulted.
So I tried the other good recommendations. I have already wiped the partitions and restored the mac using both internet recovery and a Lion bootable USB I created back when I bought Lion but still no iLife. I had them call 1-800-APL-CARE and they said they couldn't do anything even if that apple was now registered to them, apparently once an apple product is registered for the first time and if that wasn't you, you will not get much help from the 1-800-APL-CARE number, I've also read that using your warranty is nightmare unless you fill out an "Apple Warranty Reset Request Form" that you can only find in the Apple store since I've had no luck finding it on their site or any mention of it on these forums. I had them sign out of their Apple ID and re-sign in and still no iLife.
So as of right now it seems that the only answer is to go to an Apple store to have them reload iLife or have the retailer issue out an App Store card for purchasing iLife. I never new that buying a used Apple product was such a nightmare.
Thank you all (except Micheal you have issues, try being good) Any updates keep posting it might help other people going through this same nightmare (except for Micheal your banned).

  • Can you get iLife for free on a used mac?

I just bought a used macbook pro yesterday and i was dissappointed to see that it didn't have iLife on it. Doesn't Apple claim that all new macbooks come with iLife? The macbook pro i have is a recent model, the macbook pro is from 2011. I thought iLife should have been on it. i'm very dissapointed because im into songwriting and I wanted to use garageband. My laptop came installed with OS X 10.8.3 so i think it should've had ilife with it. is there a way i could get ilife for free?

    1. This applies to new computers. The previous owner of an used one may have deleted it.
    2. If it originally shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, install it from the computer's original disks, or if desired, erase the drive and install a new OS. If it shipped with Mac OS X 10.7 or newer, open the Mac App Store, sign in, and click on the Purchases tab; if you aren't given the option to accept it, contact Apple.

  • HT202594 How to get dealership for selling apple's product ?

how to get dealership in apple? for selling apple's product???

An Apple AirPort is a router, so you're covered there. The only other device required is a modem, and there are many of them from which to choose. Does your ISP supply one, and if so, can you determine its model number?
Modems can be purchased for $30. You first need to ask your ISP what equipment they plan to supply, if anything. Modems are commonly supplied for $0, to be returned if and when you cancel their service. Some ISPs want to supply a modem but charge you a rental fee. Whatever that fee is, it's not worth it.

  • How I get iLife for free on my ipad mini 1

I don't buy my iPad on September 1 I want these apps but I don't no how I get it help me please

You can purchase the apps.  They would not be free.
There is no app called "iLife".  There are apps available for you to purchase such as iPhoto, GarageBand.  These are parts of what you refer to as "iLife".

  • How can I get iLife for an older macbook with Snow Leopard?

I have a 2008 macbook. I just got Snow Leopard and was told I don't have the specs to upgrade to Mountain Lion. When I upgraded, I lost my whole iLife suite (I think because it was actually just a trial or sample), but I can't buy the latest version of iLife because it requires Mountain Lion.
I feel like Apple is trying to force me into buying a new computer, which really *****! They should offer support to all of their users, not just the most up-to-date ones....The whole reason I originally switched to mac was so that I wouldn't have to buy a new computer every few years!
And before anyone suggests anything with disks, I don't have my original install disks. I'm living abroad and it was 5 years ago...
    Any suggestions?

If you are unsuccessful in obtaining replacement disks for your Macbook you can purchase an iLife 09 disk for a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: iLife 09

  • Open-box warranty customer service despair

    Hi evrerybody,
I'm addressing you guys at the forums because I couldn't get a proper support from BestBuy customer service. They referred me to GeekSquad. GeekSquad referred me back to BestBuy customer service...
On 23rd of March I ordered an open-box excellent condition 15" macbook pro from BestBuy.com (Open-Box ID: {removed per forum guidelines}).
The product came with a minor scuff. But I wouldn't bother to go for a replacement at BestBuy store (It's too far away from where I live).
It also had 3 battery charging cycles. Another minor issue. I'm not sure whether it fits its excellent condition description.
When I checked my warranty status (Macbook's s/n: {removed per forum guidelines}) on apple website:
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do?sn=C02P93U9G3QD&locale=en_IL&caller=sp
It states that the one-year warranty ends on 5th of March 2016 (18 days earlier than it should be from my date of purchase).
Disappointed from BestBuy customer service, I contacted AppleCare (Apple's warranty service) with BestBuy's proof of purchase. They said that it's an open-box product and:
Apple warranties start on the date of the first retail purchase. Our records show that the purchase date has already been established as March 6, 2015 with warranty coverage through March 5, 2016.
The laptop was probably powered-on by the first purchaser and they won't update my warranty status.
    But... according to BestBuy.com:
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/global-promotions/open-box-products-details/pcmcat295500050005.c?id=pcmc...
It clearly states that: "The full manufacturer's warranty for an open-box product is the same as buying a factory-sealed product"
So... I don't have, as clearly promised on BestBuy website, 1 year warranty on my purchased product and I couldn't resolve this matter with neither Apple's support nor BestBuy support.
    What do you advise?

    Hello azarim,
Purchasing an open box laptop should be a pleasant and exciting experience, especially as they are at a discount price! It is discouraging to find that your experience may have been less than what you would have hoped for from a device marked as in “excellent” condition.
I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had trouble receiving service through us, as well as Apple due to the different purchase dates. I can understand how frustrating and confusing this may be, as you seem to be receiving conflicting information regarding your manufacturer warranty from us and from the manufacturer.
Using the information you registered with the forum, I was sadly unable to locate the purchase of this MacBook Pro under your name. With that said, I am sending you a private message to gather further details surrounding this information. • Pricing mistakes on bestbuy.com for open box items

I've ended up driving to 2 different Best Buys in the area over the last couple of days in an effort to buy an open box Sony camera - both locations had them listed as available for purchase on your website, information that was incorrect in both cases.
The 1st store had listed 2 cameras for sale. I drove there yesterday - they investigated & discovered the website was wrong, and there were no open boxes of the model.  The manager there was polite and apologetic, but couldn't help me (unless I wanted to buy a new camera at a slight discount), and noted that this was a problem with Best Buy Corporate (not the individual store) who had incorrectly listed these (the website info didn't appear to be out of date, it just appeared to be wrong).
I drove today to another Best Buy store, and found the same problem.  The "open box" items listed were not available there either, and from checking in the internal inventory system, they couldn't see any open box items in other closest locations either (they suggested I could instead apply for a Best Buy card and purchase a new item).
The time / effort / miles I put in driving to these locations was wasted and needless to say, very frustrating, apparently due to mistakes at Best Buy Corporate.  I'm sure the incorrect prices aren't published deliberately, but it's very bad that the data on the website bears no resemblance to that available in the internal inventory system.  I should add that, per your website, both locations still have these items listed on as being available.
I'd be happy to provide further details / specifics on my hoped for purchase (sku / Open box IDs,  your advertised locations / pricing etc).
    Thanks

    Good afternoon porkula,
Best Buy stores are tasked with keeping their open box inventory list on their BestBuy.com page up to date as the inventory changes quite frequently. I can imagine you were quite frustrated when you found you had spent your time looking for something that was listed to be available at two different locations, but turned out not to be available at either.
Some items that may be available just before you leave home may be purchased while you are on your way to the store. That being said, as it does change frequently you should feel welcome to reach out to the stores prior to visiting them for the open box item you are looking for. However, while I would encourage you to contact the stores ahead of time in the future, it does not excuse severely out of date listings for their open box inventory.
I am truly sorry if you found yourself at two different Best Buy stores that didn't have up to date listings for their open box inventory. I am sending you a private message to gather further details in regards to each of these stores and their listings. • Open box Item not as described.

I recently ordered an Open Box Pioneer Elite SC-81 . As per description the condition was described as Excellent condition on Best buy website.
Receiver has Scratches on the Volume Knob as well as dent on the top. Excellent product conditions are not supposed to have scratches and dent as per best buy guidelines for open box products.
I drove over 3 hours one way to pick up the product. As a Best Buy Elite plus member I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend open box products to anyone. I request some kind of refund for the difference in production condition or an exchange for a product in similar condition.

    Hello ucdesai,
Our stores should ensure they take great care in listing open box items accurately to ensure customers are aware of what they would be purchasing. I am truly sorry to hear that the Pioneer Elite SC-81 may not have been listed appropriately. I can imagine how disappointing this may have been once you noticed the imperfections.
Using the email address you registered with the forum, I was able to review your purchase. Given the significant discount applied to this purchase, it would seem that it was priced correctly for it's condition but mistakenly listed in excellent condition. With that said, I am sending you a private message to see what options we may have for you. • Open box exchange clarification

Hello, I purchased an open box monitor yesterday, the original price was 400 dollars and it was marked down to about 330. The open box notes said that there was no physical deformities at all about the monitor, I also ended up paying for the 3 year warranty on the monitor that was priced at 60 dollars.
When I got home I noticed when the monitor was displaying blacks that I could see about a quarter sized area a red grid that looked like stuck pixels.
I called ahead about the exchange policy on open boxed items and I was told to bring it in and they would be able to exchange the item.
I was a bit disappointed when I realized that in order to exchange the monitor that the associate had to return the item with the warranty and then just purchase the item with the refund at full retail price.
I ended up need up not being able to purchase the extended warranty again (didn't have the funds at the time) and I had to pay about a 15 dollar difference.
My question is, is this common practice for an open box item? Especially one that was marked with no issues? I wouldn't be here asking these questions if when I originally purchased the item I knew about the deformity on the monitor performance itself.

    Hello Mylivingeulogy –
I’m sorry to hear the monitor you picked out was defective, and that our open-box tag was not correctly labeled. Using the information you provided, I was able to pull up your receipt and see the original purchase, as well as the exchange for the LG 29” Ultra Wide Monitor. Really jealous by the way, I’ve been eyeing that monitor in my local store for a while now to game on.
To answer your question, when there is a defect with an open-box item within the return period, it is handled like any other item in accordance with the Return and Exchange Promise.
With that said, I’ve sent you a private message with some additional information and next steps. To view your Private Messages, login to the forum and select the envelope icon on the top right corner of the page.

Apple support sent me a replacement dvd for ilife 11 but I have no MPN to register it. Device was purchased at Best Buy as an open box item.
    Thanks,

There is no need to register that software; the prompts are so they can send you advertisements mostly. Not sure what you are referring to as "device".

it says:  You cannot use this product at this time.  You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT admin or Adobe customer support for help.
Well it seems I am only able to install this on a maximum of 3 computers so if I uninstall and reinstall I may have used up all three.  What caused this in the first place?

And most licenses extend to 2 machines; not 3.  Your computer's clock probably reset when you changed batteries. Is your computer's clock set to the correct date and time now?

  • Open Box Item - Unavaible for delivery

I'm trying to purchase an open box item listed on bestbuy.com and when I proceed to checkout and enter in my shipping address I get the following message: We're sorry, but these items are not available to be shipped to that address:
    [Item]
Store pickup might be available, or you could try using a different address I have used two other addresses with and without hyphens with the same result and cannot proceed with the checkout process; would someone be able to look at my issue? Thanks!

    Hello thunderstrike00,
Shipping orders directly to you from BestBuy.com is a great convenience, and I am sorry if the problem you have encountered with this desired purchase has affected that in any way.
Using the information you supplied here on the forums, I was able to locate your purchase history and reference the call you made about this matter yesterday. It appears you have had orders ship to you before, which makes this issue a bit peculiar. In an effort to troubleshoot this a bit more, I tried adding the same item to my own cart on BestBuy.com to see if it was available to ship to my home and I received the same message. It is likely this particular item is not available to ship to your area. This is not common, but can happen, especially for an item that has constrained inventory due to being discontinued or an open-box.
This information has been documented here at the corporate level and made available for review by my support teams in an effort to better our online shopping experience. Again, I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused. Please let me know if you have any other questions or if you would like assistance finding a comparable product.
    Kindest regards,

I'm getting exactly the same message when trying to purchase an open-box item, says it's unavailable to ship to my address, home or work. It's a physical address, I get packages here frequently, not sure what's happening with that. Any ideas? Thank you! JD-BBY wrote:

    Hi wintersurfer,
Without knowing exactly what open-box item you were trying to order, and what address you were trying to ship this to, it would be impossible for me to say why it couldn’t be shipped to your address. If you want me to look into this you can send me a private message by clicking on the link in my signature. Keep in mind that the most likely reason is it’s not possible for us to ship it from where it’s located to your address.
    Thanks for posting,
