Getting  JButton on pressed to input a value into Scanner method nextLine()

Is it possible to get a JButton within an action performed method to insert a string value into the Scanner method nextLine() within a different method?
Information would be greatfull!

I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly, but I don't think so.
Perhaps you could post a short (pseudo-)code example of what you want?

    Dear Praveena
    In which event are you putting this code. Place it in oninputprocessing event(Page with flow logic Model of coding). Then it will surely work.

  • JSP + MYSQL question: input form value into a SQL table

    Hello,
    I am writing some JSP code to read input information from a input form to write this information into a SQL field.
    My problems are:
    - how can i pass the input form information to other jsp file ? (like Getproperty of something like this)
    - how can i move the content of any input information into a variable ? I mean something like this:
    String a1;
    username.value.of.the.input.field.in.forum_jsp = a1.in.addmessage_jsp;and then:
    int rowsAffected = stmt.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO forummessages (messagecode, " +  " usercode, " + " messagedate,  " + " message) VALUES(6,3,06/07/2007,'" + a1 + "')");------
    The SQL table looks like this:
    stmt.executeUpdate("CREATE TABLE forummessages (messagecode int AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY, usercode int, messagedate date, message char(255) not null)");My codes are:

  • How do I get the proper UTF-8 NVARCHAR2 DB Value into a Java String?

    Hello, I have a mixed char 8.1.7 database with UTF-8 as my NLS
    charset. I used SQL Worksheet to enter test polish unicode
    characters 50309,50310... into an NVARCHAR2 column using
    insert...char(nnn using NCHAR_CS) and get the following result
    from DUMP(columnname,1016):
    Typ=1 Len=12 CharacterSet=UTF8:
    c4,85,c4,86,c4,87,c4,88,c4,89,c4,8a.
    Everything looks good.
    Now, how do I get them out into a Java String and verify that I
    have received the correct hex codes?
    I have tried:
    1. CHAR lChr = OracleResultSet.getCHAR(ColumnName, csUTF8); or
    and lChr.characterStreamValue();
    2. InputStream lIStr = arsResultSet.getBinaryStream(ColumnName);
    3. String lStr = (String)arsResultSet.getObject(ColumnName);
    and then:
    lStr.getBytes("UTF-8"); or lStr.toCharArray();
    I always get questions marks and negative byte values or the
    values: 261,262,263,264,265,266.
    I am using the latest 9.0.1. JDBC Thin drivers and the Oracle
    extensions: OracleResultSet, OracleStatement etc...
    Please let me know what class/method I need, to get the Oracle
    NVARCHAR2 unicode string from the result set into a Java string
    and what method to use to look at the underlying hex codes.
    TIA for any pointers.

    If I use in bdInt=sc.nextInt();a substring cannot be used.
    Does anyone know how I solve this question without substring? Perhapse something I've mentioned above
    sincerely h

  • Without manual entry can you input a value into a numberic control?

    I am using a numeric control and a button (with a case structure) to manually input numbers into a function.  However, I also want to be able to, via a text file, enter numbers into that same numeric controller, so that I can again hit the button and have the number enter the function.

    endmile said:
    Writing to the local variable will set the value at that time, but it's still updating the value of the local variable all the time.
    What exactly do you mean by this?
    endmile said:
    But in this case, I think the simplest answer is the property node.
    That's not a valid conclusion. There is no "simplest" answer. It's all context-based. There's nothing "bad" or "evil" about local variables. In fact, they tend to be faster than writing to the "Value" property node. Let's just say that proper use depends on understanding how each operates, and once you know that, each can be used effectively.
    I hope this doesn't become another one of those "local variables vs property nodes".

  • Inputting multiple arguments into a method

    Hi,
    I have somewhat of a problem. I'm trying to create a method, stringQuery, and I do not know how many arguments the method will take.
    Allow me to explain my goal, so you can have some idea of what I'm talking about.
    I want to create a method that will basically generate a SQL query (no, this is NOT a JDBC question) from text. This method should be able to take a large number of String arguments, because the user might want to select one thing from the database, or he or she might want to select five things, or he or she might want to select twenty things.
    Because of this, there is not a set number of arguments for my stringQuery method.
    Furthermore, the method should also be able to take a large number of float arguments, in case the user wants to specify where he or she is selecting data from.
    It's just a mess, I'm not sure where to start, and I'm pretty damn sure there must be a better way. I can specify that I want an infinite number of Strings by saying something like this:
    public static String stringQuery(String... select)But I cannot do the same for floats, or for another String array. Or can I? If I try to do something like:
    public static String stringQuery(String... select, float... foo)I get a syntax error, that says "select must be the last parameter". If I change the order, it will say "foo must be the last parameter", obviously. Therefore, I can't do that.
    I realize this is a lot of information. However, if someone could please point me in the right direction here (either how to do what I am trying to do, or a better method for what I am trying to do), I would be very appreciative.
    Also, please let me know if this didn't make much sense, and what part of it didn't make sense.
    Thanks,
    Dan

    I'm not too sure what you mean by this. Do you know
    of any links or resources that can explain this
    further?Search for "Object-Oriented Programming".public class SQLBuilder {
      private // some list of selection criteria
      public SQLBuilder() {
        // initialize the list to empty
      public void addCriterion(String name, String value) {
        // add this criterion to the list
      public void addCriterion(String name, int value) {
        // add this criterion to the list
      // many more overloaded addCriterion methods could go here
      public String toString() {
        // compute the SQL string based on the list
    }And to use that:SQLBuilder builder = new SQLBuilder();
    builder.addCriterion("name", "Arthur Eddington");
    builder.addCriterion("answer", 137);
    String query = builder.toString();

  • The problem of return value from a method

    Hi everyone:
    I want return a value from following method. The basic idea is that I want use Num as a parameter to get a value from a field, therefore I can input this value into another database for the display purpose by using other classes. However I got error message when I compiled it.
    "method does not return a value"
    I know it is a problem, but how I can fix it? I need your help. Thanks in advance.
    Dawei
    Method:
    public int Read(int Num) {
    try{
    String qr1 = "select Record form Buffer where Record="+Num+"";
    ResultSet rs = statement.executeQuery(qr1);
    while (!rs.next()){
              int result=rs.getInt(1);
    return(result);
         catch (SQLException e){
                   System.err.println("Error in inserting into database " + e);
                        System.exit(1);
    return 1;

    "select Record form Buffer ...Hopefully "form" is actually "from" in your code.
    You have three points of exit from your routine, and only two return value statements.
    1 -Return inside the while loop has a value.
    2- Return inside the exception block (not sure that '1' would be a valid number)
    3- The very end of the method, just before the last '}' does not have a return statement.
    By the way, this question has nothing to do with JDBC, so another forum might be a better place to post it.

  • Getting execution input parameter values

    Hi,
    Is it possible to get execution input parameter values from an Out of box Oracle table?
    Let's imagine i am calling a stored procedure and this procedure has two input parameters. Is there a place to get this to input parameter values?
    Regards.

    I agree with Anurag, as the original question is stated, the answer is no.
    Depending on the unspecified in the OP version of Oraclle there are a couple of v$ views that will allow a session to see its own bind variables and there is a view where bind variables can be sampled.
    Running sql trace with bind variables is the only real method of getting these values.

  • How to reset input Text value on click of root menu item navigation link ?

    All,
    Jdeveloper - 11.1.1.6
    I am facing this issue across the pages.
    I have a root_menu.xml based navigation available as links at the top of ADF application. Some of the menu links directly have JSPX pages having the content being loaded , and others are JSPX containing Bounded task flow.
    Issue :
    On the click of the menu links, the page gets reloaded / refreshed , however the input value given on the page remains displayed even after refresh.
    We need the page refresh along with any input test box getting cleared on Menu item click.
    Any pointers as to how we can resolve.
    Thanks

    If your page is in a taskflow (which it should be as you use pageflowscope), you should have a method action in your task flow which you call to clear all the values you use in the UI.

  • Assign a value from dropdownlist to input field value on BSP page

    Hi,
    I'm new to SAP and ABAP. We have a CRM project in which I have to maintain BSP pages.
    Now, coming to my problem: I have a input field with
    value = "//BTAdminH/HeaderInfo"
    This field is normally maintainable. The required function is now to set this field as not maintainable/readonly. Then, the value should be set automatically to an value, which will be selected from a dropdownListBox. After saving, the value HeaderInfo should have the same value like the selected value from the dropdownListBox.
    How can I now set the field as readonly (this should be the easier part) and
    how can I set the value for the HeaderInfo to the value of the selected value from the dropdownListBox?
    If I set it directly like this
    value = "//BTActivity/Priority"
    it is shown on the BSP page correclty, but it is not saved as HeaderInfo.
    Please help me.

    oncatenate ls_ddlb1-value ls_ddlb2-value ls_ddlb3-value into lv_headerinfo SEPARATED BY ' + '.
    But when I assign the value of my set_headerinfo to the local variable, then it is returning only the separator sign!!!
    if BTAdminH->GET_HEADERINFO( 'HEADERINFO' ) is initial.
        BTAdminH->SET_HEADERINFO( attribute_path = 'HEADERINFO' value = lv_headerinfo ).
      endif.
    If I declare the local variable as one of the dropdown values, then it is getting populated also for set_headerinfo
    lv_headerinfo  =ls_ddlb1-value.
    So, the assigning is also working! But it is not working, when the local variable equals more than one value! I hope that I could explained it in the right way for you!!!!
    So. why is the value for set_headerinfo not the same as the one for the local variable! The local variable has the correct value after the concatination.

  • Variables/Input Parameters Value help not showing texts

    Hello,
    I have created a crystal report based on a calculation view in Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.1 SP5, which has a input parameter on the field "Region". For the value help, I am using a custom view based on T005U in which I have made sure that RegionName field is present in the "Label Column" property of the Region field.(Required for viewing descriptions of LOVs).
    In the crystal report, while previewing data in the query builder, I am able to see the value help for the input parameter in the prompt screen, which displays only the key part, but does not display the description of it. Moreover, after accepting the prompt value, the preview runs into an error(as shown below). Please note that I get the error below only when Region is a part of the output fields of the query.
    Instead of input parameter, when I create a variable on the region field in the main calculation view, with the same value help view, I am able to do data preview in the query builder as also data appears in the report on running the query. But, just as in the case of input parameter value help in the prompt screen, even over here, I am only able to see the key part and not the description.
    Are variables/input parameter LOV's supposed to display descriptions or just the key part? As also, any reason why I should be getting this error while using Input parameter?
    Kindly let me know if I am missing something in the development of this report.
    Regards,
    Alston

    Hi,
              I hope you are taking the BEx Query as a source to the crystal report. In the BEx query check region info object  should is maintained as  Text and Key. If text is not maintained over there you will not be getting text in Crystal reports.
    Krishna.

  • Bind input field value to a variable fails

    Business need : The user wants to re-evaluate lines by a percentage value which he fills via his BI-IP screen.
    I created an INPUT FIELD in WAD and I am trying to link a variable value (initially created in BI-IP through transaction RSPLAN)
    to this INPUT FIELD.
    Whenever I fill the input field with a value, the value is not being transferred to the variable.
    Please help how to bind an INPUT field value to a variable to be transmitted to a planning function.
    I have made many trials but in vain.
    Please help.

    Hi.
    I will present my scenario (it works in my system). From this scenario you may "cut" implementation for your scenario.
    Lets sat I have an input fileld item and I want to read value (in my case numeric value) and pass this value to any planning sequence.
    1. Create in Bex variable (in my case it is formula variable) lets say Z_INPUT_VAR
    2. In WAD, when you executin planning sequence (lets say by pressing button execute) in command EXEC_PLANNING_SEQUENCE_SIMPLE define data binding.
    When you clicked data binding->variable input MANUALY your variable name (Z_INPUT_VAR) in popup window.
    3. In variable type select (ITEM_INPUT) type
    4. In web item select your input field item.
    This way you will pass inputed value to vaariable and planning sequence.
    Then in planning function you also may use VARV() to read value of Z_INPUT_VAR variable.
    Regards.
