Hello,
Entries have no "natural order" within a database, apart from the primary key. If you need the "last entry" then you need to know what defines the last entry. If the last entry is the one with the highest year (MJAHR) the you could select it like this:
data: ls_mseg type mseg.
select * from mseg into ls_mseg.
    where bwart = 321
      and ebeln = 400000005
      and mjahr = ( select max( mjahr ) from mseg
                      where bwart = 321
                        and ebeln = 400000005 ).
"process result in ls_mseg
endselect.
Note: This is a loop because there might be more than one matching entry.

To get Last record of resultset, you have pass some parameter in constructor of CreateStatement.In such case Resultset should be scrollable and Readonly
Example

Selecting the last record from a database table

In my ABAP Program, I have to use a select statement to retrieve the last record from the database table with the same key. In other words, the Program will get more than one hit on the database table for the selected keys and I need to retrieve values from only the last record and not the first. I know I can use an internal table to sort the records first and then retrieve the right value.   But to make things easier, is there a SELECT statement keyword than I can use to do this in one single step? Thanks!

just imagine the table to be BSEG or FAGLFLEXA... then what would be performance of the code ?
any ways,
jyotsna, first check if you have a pattern to follow like if the primary key field have a increasing number range or it would be great if you find a date field which stores the inserted date or some thing..
you can select max or that field or order by descending using select single.
or get all data.. sort in descending order.(again you need some criteria like date).
read the first entry. using read itab index 1

where m.accid=d.accid (+)The outer join operator (+) will get you all the details from master and any details from the detail if they exist, but the master details will still be got even if there are not details.
Note: Oracle 10g now supports ANSI standard outer joins as in:
select m.accid,m.title,d.dr,d.cr
from master m LEFT OUTER JOIN detail d on m.accid=d.accid

Help needed to get unique record from an internal table

Hi Everybody,
I have to get unique record from an internal table. i know we can use read statement with key condition .
But the problem is i have to use some relational operators like GE or LE.
eg
read table itab into wa with key width GE itab-widthfrom
                                                   width LE itab-widthto
                                                   machno eq itab-machno.
Its giving me error when I use the operators GE , LE.( I think since it can't find a unique record with those relational
operators in the with key statement)
Is there any other way to get unique record from internal table without using the loop?

Using the read statement you will need some kind of loop. For example.
DO.
READ TABLE......
WITH KEY ......
                    READ = SPACE
IF SY-SUBRC EQ 0
TABLE-READ = 'X'.
MODIFY TABLE
ADD 1 TO W_FOUND.
ELSE
EXIT.
ENDIF
ENDDO.
IF W_FOUND EQ 1.
...record is unique.
ENDIF.

Getting the last record from the internal table

When we use a READ statement it always picks up the first record which fulfill its condition but in my case I want to pick up the last record that fulfills it condition
I have a internal table like

N1      A
N1      T
N1      A
N1      6 ----> LAST RECORD
my code is
read table itab wIth key id = netobjid.
for eg if netobjid = N1 , then I want to read the last record that corresponds to N1 ie ID N1 TYPE - 6...

actually i have done same requirement like this ...
Take one count variable into your internal table ..you pass the number of records into cont variable for every time u enter the loop .
Sort the internal table with count variable descending . ( AS we cant sort the internal table with sy-tabix)
Then use read statement with sy-index = 1 .
USe below logic ,............
data : count type i value '0'.
LOOP at int .
count = count + 1 .
endloop.
sort int count descending .
read int with index = 1 .

Even though cursor loops are generally a Bad Idea ^tm^ as Dan says, here's an example of how you can get the information you wanted within the query itself...

CUBE Not getting All records from DSO

We have a situation where we have to load data from a DSO to a Cube . The DSO contains only 9 records and while we r loading the data into cube , the cube is only getting 2 records . Thus 7 records are missing. Also The Cube contains more Fields than DSO. in the transformations , for the extra fields we have written end routine and those extra fields will get data by reading master data .. Any pointers how to get the missing records or what is the error ...

Using this code i can get only single plant...
If i want to get multiple plants from an internal table,how i can change this code?
Since it is a recording i cant put this code in LOOP..ENDLOOP.
Suggest any method for doing this....

The you can place different plant in the BDC using loop and endloop

How to fetch last record from the table to display in screen painter?

Hi Gurus,
              I have a requirement where i have to fetch the last record value in the table.
I have a screen where the TEXT name is REQUEST and I/P field name is REQ and SAVE push button.
In this I/P field automatically 1 should display when i excecute the program and when i save this, the request number should turn to 2 that is dynamically..once agin save then 3 and so on....and this 1, 2, 3 will be storeing in table.
I have succeeded till generating the values dynamically and saving in the table like 1 is displayed and when i click save it is changeing to 2..but the problem is when i am coming out of program and logon again the request number is again displaying as 1 rather it has to start with 4 because already 3 request are there in the table.
My code is...
Table zsave.
data declarations....
data req type i.
req = 0.
req = zsave-req.
PROCESS BEFORE OUTPUT
req = 0.

Can you tell me, when updaing the ZSAVE table with the counter value are you modifying the exisiting value or inserting the value as new record?
From the code in your first post, i see that you are extracting records into internal table but when you are moving to variable REQ, you are moving from table work area which is blank, so everytime when you execute it may be starting as 0.

Formula to get last record entered for a specific code in a field

I work at an inpatient facility where our patients experience several movement actions -- transfers from unit to unit, Leaves, return from leaves, and change in commitment status. We collect all of these actions in one table. For our census report we use a subreport to show the list of patients who are on leave. The problem I am having is pulling the most current movement that was a leave if the last movement action code entered was a change in commitment status. We really should not have put the change in commitment in this table as it is not a movement. When a change in commitment occurs and the patient is on leave, they drop off my report because the last change was not a leave. We have to enter the leave again so it is the last record entered to fix.
The table contains these fields:
Doc_ID
Parent_ID
Folder_ID
Effective Date
From_Unit
To_Unit
Time_of_Change
Leave_status_Code
Move_Action_Code
Commit_Status_Code
The Move_Action_Code field contains these codes:
L = Leave
C = Change in Commitment Status
B = Return From Leave
I = Initial Admission
D = Discharge
R = Recommitment
V = Unit to unit transfer
A patient may have several leaves in the same admission (home visit, then back, etc.). I need a formula to show only most current leave if they haven't returned from leave and need to totally ignore any change in commitment status.

Hi Jerri,
To identify a patient, I assume it would be Folder_ID. Create a group on this field. Also create a group on Effective Date.
Hide the Detail section and the Group Headers for both of these. You can also hide the Group Footer for Effective Date.
In the Group Footer for Folder_ID, drop in the Move_Action_Code and any other fields you want.
When you look at your report, this will show you the last Move_Action_Code for that patient.
If you can group your data properly, the Group header will always show the first record and the Group Footer will always show the last record.

DNS Server have list of zones and each zones may have DNS Records. DNS Server provides an option set scavenging interval on server or in zone level.
Once records are old the server automatically apply scavenging process to remove that record.
I need to get DNS Records that are scavenged and timestamp using WMI Call?

The DNS log has this information. Just extract it from the log.
A scavenged record does not exisit when it is scavenged so it cannot be read from the DNS server. It has been deleted.

You have a couple options depending on your database.
1. The best, in my opinion, is to wrap this functionality
into a stored procedure that will handle the multiple inserts, then
run that stored procedure inside a transaction (or include the
transaction inside the stored procedure).
2. Use the result object returned by cfquery on the first
insert to get the ID of the new record from result_name.IDENTITYCOL
(or whatever property is set for your database). Then use the ID
value in a second cfquery for the sales table.

Full update not getting all records from PSA to ODS

Dear BW Masters,
I am working with MM module. Iam using standard extract structure 2LIS_02_ACC
Iam doing full update. Getting full data 1300 records in to PSA. But getting only 298 in to my ODS. I tried changing fields in to KEY FIELDS AND IN TO DATA FIELDS in my ODS
But could not get data.
Pls help me..i have dead line before that i need to complete report on the same.
Its happening with the other HDR and ITM extractors.

Look at this example:
R/3 Record:
CustNo | Name | Order | Amount
1234 | Customer1 | Order 1 | 100
1235 | Customer2 | Order 2 | 200
1234 | Customer1 | Order 3 | 300
If Cust.No is Keyfield, In BW you will get 2 records
1234
1235
If Order No is Key field, you will get 3 records.
It is not necessary to get the same no of records as they are in R/3.
