Getting managed beans reference

I have a entry in facesconfig.xml
<managed-bean>
<managed-bean-name>some_bean</managed-bean-name>
<managed-bean-class>pkg1.pkg2.SomeBean</managed-bean-class>
<managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope>
</managed-bean>
In page when a button is clicked ... in action i want to call a setter of property lets say P1
I cant recall what will be the code like
FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
SomeBean sb = fc.getBean("some_bean"); // ??? cant recall ... what goes here ...
sb.setP1(4);

Cannot get reference to a managed bean from another

How to get iterator values from a managed bean ?

Due to a bug in selectOneChoice i'm not able to get the label list i want to display directly from an iterator when the value binding is a managed bean.
To solve the problem i would like to create a managed bean that contains that list and use it as the selectItems to display.
I would like that the values in that managed bean loaded from the a data control iterator.
My question is :
1) is it possible to access the iterator values from a managed bean, i mean without any reference to a page definition
2) how to do ? is it documented somewhere ? any example ?

In the jsp and displaying all the rows using<h:datatable id="someId" value="#{someBean.rows}"
so far good.
In this page i have one submit button which will call confirm() of my managed bean.
In the confirm() i need to get all the rows. i.e; i need to get the myList.
I dont want to call the getRows() method again(since it is DB hit)
But myList is empty in my confirm method.
my managed bean is in request scope.
if i change it to session it is working.but i need request scope only.
I tried with <t:saveState value="#{someBean}" /> but no luck..
Later i have taken HtmlDataTable reference with setter and getters in the bean and bind this reference in <h:datatable>.
and tried to disply the htmlDataTable rowCount...
then im getting NotSerializableException though my bean is implementing Serializable interface..
Please give some suggestion in this

Managed beans cyclic reference

I have a customer bean (in session) which references an address bean (none scoped)... The customer bean maintains a reference to the address bean and I also need the address bean in turn to maintain a reference to the customer bean...
My faces-config file looks like this:

You can get the customer bean from the address bean lik as:
facesContext.getAllication().getVariableResolver().resolveVariable(context, "customer");

So you're not using ADF BC at all, right ?
From JSF point of view, it does not matter how you provide UI control values.
What you can do, for example, is to use pure JDBC in order to get and display the database values.
What you need in your backing bean, is appropriate properties (setter/getter method pairs).
In the getter, you can obtain DB values by using JDBC

Get component Id in managed bean

Hi experts,
I am going to ask a foolish question, but since i'm a newbie i hope you'll forgive me .
I am using JDev version: 11.1.2.3.0. My question is: Is it possible to get a component id inside a managed bean? By components i mean, buttons or menu items. The scenario i would like to create is this:
I am using JasperReports to generate some required reports. I would like to do something like having a Menu with different items. By clicking each one of them, set a string in the managed bean i'm using to generate the reports (actually the string would be the name of the jrxml file i am going to load). And this string would get it's value based on which menu item is selected.
Is it possible to do such a thing? Or may be some other way would be more suitable?

Urgent - can't set managed bean value using a form, getting null

I have a form with a bean -- unbelievably, I can't get the values entered into the form by the user to get stored into the bean. Everything is null... I've looked at a zillion examples, posts and compared etc...yet still can't see what is missing.

I solved this.
Since I was testing the action code only, I didn't define a navigation entry corresponding to the action string returned for this button:
<h:commandButton value="Add" style="height:21px; width:51px;font-size:8pt; font-color: black;" action="#{resourceBean.addAction}">
</h:commandButton>After I added a nav definition, it worked. I don't know why at this point. I suspect a key step in the lifecycle was pre-empted...someone else can probably explain why. If I get a chance to research it after I'm done with my project, I'll update this post.

Get the current value of a managed bean.

Hi guys
I have a register page which takes the Login ID and the password and retype password whose values are stored in the "Managed Beans" in registerServer.java.
I have a (PwdValidator.java) Custom validator for Re-type Password which validates itself against the password.
Now my problem is from the PwdValidator.java how can I access the value of the password which is stored in the managed bean in registerServer.java.
here is a copy of my faces-config.xml

How to get ADF UI Component value in managed bean

JDev version 11.1.1.1.3.0
I have written a managed bean method and calling that method on valueChangeEvent of a Select boolean Checkbox ADF Component.
I want to retreive the value of some other component located in the same page as the checkbox. I need the value of the component into the manged bean. I know how to get the value of the checkbox eg:

How can I access the value of an input text component in the above managed bean ? Can someone help on this?

The above coding will work fine
but wht u have specified rowId???? whether the "value" field is inside a af:table????? if so i have doubt on the above code's working.....

ADF Faces: How to get the ADF BindingContainer in a managed bean?

Hi,
I not sure how to get the BindingContainer instance from inside of a managed bean method. I have tried the following config, but it does not work in all situations.

</managed-bean>When an ActionListener- method of my ShowBooks bean is called the property bindingContainer is NULL!!
Is there a save way to get the BindingContainer in my bean??
Any hints are welcome.

Maybe I just need another pair of eyes but when I set this up as explained and watch it in the debugger my method public void setBindingContainer(DCBindingContainer bc) gets called but bc is null. Can anyone help?

Can't get JSF to access managed bean methods from web page

I'm using NetBeans 6.7.1 and Glassfish v2.1
Having problems here can somebody please help? It is really
frustrating because I have written apps like this before in fact I
used one as a model to create an even simpler app and still can't get
it to work. I ran it through the debugger and it stops in the
constructor so it looks like the bean object is being created, but the
setUid method and the testit method are not being entered when I click
on the enter commandbutton. Can somebody PLEASE give me an idea as to
what might be going on? I am totally stumped and this is holding up
some important work I need to get done. Any help would be greatly
appreciated:

Problem getting bindings in managed bean after deployment on remote weblogic

We have a Fusion Web application successfully running on Jdev 12c and its integrated wls server with Oracle 12c database configured as a DataSource. We created an ear file from JDev and deployed it on remote wls servers. The initial login .jspx page came up without any issues. Upon entering the login credentials in the browser and trying to enter the application, we are getting a Null Pointer exception. Looking at the logs, the null pointer is thrown when its trying to get the bindings in the managed bean.

Use ADF Managed Bean to get the username in BPM Workspace

Hi all,
I used JSF and ADF to build the UI of human task. And I want to get the username of the user who is manipulate on BPM Workspace. For example, an ADF form can display the username of current user in BPM Workspace. I also try this approach: use Manage Bean, and bind this bean to a output text in ADF form. The code fragment I use to get the current username is:
ADFContext.getCurrent().getSecurityContext().getUserPrincipal().getName();
But it does not work. The value I get is Anonymous.
So, plz help me solve this problem
