Getting music out of my iPod to computer

Can someone help me? recently my computer's HD died and I replaced, formated, and set it all up,but when I installed the new iTunes 7,I lose my mind.I don't see how I can get my music out of my iPod mini and into the new iTunes library. The only music that actually transfered from my iPod to the new library was 5 songs I had purchased from the iTunes store,(after I authorized this same computer again). How can I straighten this mess out? I want to have all the 300 songs in my iPod on the computer again and for all the new songs I have to get put into the iPod.

Apple doesn't support the transferring of music from your iPod to your iTunes. Only iTunes to iPod. So to do this you will need to download a third party program that will help copy your music from your iPod back to your computer, or there are a couple manual methods you can check out.

How to get songs off of your Windows iPod - cnet
http://www.cnet.com/4520-7899_1-6477981-1.html?tag=txt
If your iPod is set to automatically update and you plug it into iTunes, a message will pop up telling you that your iPod is linked to another library. It will ask if you want to sync and replace all your music. Make sure you hit NO. If you sync with an empty library, then your iPod will also end up empty, because when it syncs it makes an exact copy of your library.
Goodluck, hope something works for ya

  • How do I get music out of an ipod classic?

I erased all my music from my computer by accident, i still have it on my ipod, what can i do ?

    Hi bernicemily,
If you have an Internet connection but plan to go to an area without an Internet connection, you should be able to download the songs in advance.
iTunes 11 for Mac: Access all your music anytime, anywhere with iTunes Match
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12284
Play or download songs from iCloud
You can play songs directly from iCloud, or you can download songs so you can play them when you’re not connected to the Internet.
If a song is available in iCloud, it has a Download button Cloud with an arrow pointing down next to it.
To play the song, double-click it.
To download the song, click the Download button.
After you download a song to a computer, it remains in the computer’s iTunes library, even if you turn off iTunes Match.
To only display downloaded songs in your iTunes library, choose View > Hide Music in the Cloud. This also hides any previous iTunes Store purchases you haven’t downloaded.
    Take care,
    Nubz

  • Laptop crashed, iTunes music wiped out, how do I get music out of iPhone to my computer?

May I know whether it is possible to transfer my songs out of my iPhone music library to my computer or my new iTunes? The music files which i lost were mostly on soft copy.
Is it also possible to sync my iPhone to a new empty iTunes without losing my music files?
    Thank you!

Use the backup of the computer to put everything back.
Syncing is one way, computer to iDevice.
If for some silly reason you have chosen to not backup your important media and data, iTunes purchases can be transfered from the device or redownloaded from iTunes.
Google is your friend to find instructions.

  • Okay so I have a new ipod touch...but I need to get music out of my old nano to my itues w/out wiping out my old nano...how do i do this? new laptop so itues is new...please help

okay so I have a new ipod touch...but I need to get music out of my old nano to my itues w/out wiping out my old nano...how do i do this? new laptop so itues is new...please help

You need to authorize your new computer in iTunes with the same account that is synced to your nano (and old iTunes)
In the menu bar click Store >> Authorize This Computer…
This will allow your purchased music to be re-downloaded from iTunes and played on your new computer.
If you did not purchase the music through iTunes, you may need a third-party program to get the music off the nano. However, It is much easier (by far) to move your old library from your old computer to the new one if you still have access to the old files. iTunes will not transfer music from your nano to the computer. It is a one-way sync.
If you still have access to your old files, search google for how to transfer an itunes library, and follow someones instructions. It's not too complicated. You may want to specify mac to pc, pc to mac, mac to mac, or pc to pc, as the instructions will change.

  • HT1454 Can not get video out from my ipod touch 3rd gen. Any ideas? It should nt be diffiicult to do this on the 21 st century, or not?

After having spent EUR 130 on cables from apple, i still can not get video out from my ipod touch 3rd gen. Any ideas? It should nt be diffiicult to do this on the 21 st century, or not?

Backing up an iOS device will copy some data to a backup file within iTunes, but this excludes all media.  You can also transfer iTunes Store purchases from the iDevice to iTunes but, without using a third-party tool, nothing else.  As long as you do not sync the iPod with your new library, the media that's on it will remain ... for as long as it keeps functioning, is not lost, stolen, eaten by the dog, ...
You may also have an option to recover your previous library from your old laptop; as long as its hard drive isn't fried, a computer repair store or technician may be able to extract the drive, mount it in an external enclosure, and copy your data to another PC.  Whatever you choose, there is no real alternative to having all your media on your computer, managed by iTunes, and regularly backed up to another device/location.

  • How do I get music from my old ipod to new one please ?

I have tried bbut cannot seem to get music from my old ipod to my new ipod. I lost old one long ago and recently found it and much loved n' missed songs . I since replaced pc and saved no music . I tried connecting both ipods to my laptop but no luck getting songs from old to new !!  Any help would be greattly appreciated pelase n' thank you :-)

    Hi Lea64!
If your music was ripped from CDs, you will need to re-rip it to your iTunes library on your new computer. But if you bought your music from iTunes, they are still in iCloud, and you can redownload them at no cost. Sign in to the iTunes Store on your computer, then click on "Purchased" on the list on the right hand side. You'll see everything you have ever bought from iTunes in there, and anything that's not currently on your computer will have a little cloud with a downward pointing arrow in it. Click on the cloud symbol next to whatever you want to download, and it will download to your computer. Plug in your iPod and synch it, and you're done. Hope this helps!

  • How do i get music off an old ipod

How do i get music off an old ipod classic into my windows 8 system when it doesn't find the ipod when i plug it into the usb?

    Hi aekdbaker ,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have music on your iPod that you would like to transfer into your iTunes library on your Mac.
If those songs you wish to transfer were purchased, there are two different ways you can accomplish this. The first way, which does not even require you connecting your iPod to the computer, would be to re-download them from iTunes in the Cloud directly to your iTunes library. Directly connecting your iPod to your Mac to transfer purchases is an option as well. Instructions for both methods of gathering your past purchases in your iTunes library on your Mac are available in the attached article.

Go to iTunes and to a playlist/library. go to the song(s) you want to get off your iPod and delete them from your library/playlist by either right clicking the song and hitting clear, or by hitting the delete/backspace button on you keyboard. you will then get a pop-up saying "Do you want to move the selected item into your Recycle bin or keep it in your iTunes Music Folder?"
I think if you move it into the iTunes music folder then you are able to get to it if, later, you would like to retrieve, rather than deleting it forever.
Below that message you will see 3 buttons that say:
Cancel Move to Recycle Bin Keep Files
Depending on what you want to do then click the button.

Put it in a sealed container with a desiccant for a week and periodically change the desiccant . Uncooked rice works.
It may or may not work OK afterwards.

Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • Getting music files on your iPod back on to your computer's hard drive.

Anybody know how to take music files on your iPod and put them back on your computer's hard drive? I need to do this because:
1.I've deleted the songs that I've put on my iPod from my computer.
    2. Sometimes people want songs from my iPod on their computer.
I already tried dragging them into a folder in my documents and iTunes, and copy and pasting them. However, none of these methods worked. Can anybody help?

There is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

  • After format crisis. I can't get things out of my ipod

I've formatted my computer after lots of issues on my HP with Vista. I figured I can just sync back to iTunes so I didn't back up any of the media in my 32gig ipod touch. Well, I've reinstalled windows and itunes and trying to sync my media back into my computer and it won't. I've signed into my account. I've authorized my computer and it still won't move any of the videos or music. As for apps, it says I didn't authorize my computer even though I JUST did. I don't want to keep authorizing and use up my authorization so I'm hoping there's a better way to fix this. I'm very computer savvy person so it's very frustrating when things so easy as this becomes so complicated for a device that's advertised as easy to use. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks much.

Thank you, Katrina. I really appreciate your help. I've tried all three of them, very carefully. Unfortunately, it still refuses to transfer any of my purchases let alone musics and videos I had before. I just can NOT believe Apple, who I've been admiring for a while on a sideline for its usability and finally joined by purchasing my first iPod, could over-complicate such a simple process. They have got to be aware that PC users format their computers periodically and this is to be expected and tested for since majority of the market is STILL Windows unfortunately. I hear my friend telling me to take it to Genius bar but I'm thinking that will be foolish since I'd have to take my iPod AND computer to get any kind of solution. If I can't find a simple solution for this BASIC process, I'd think much harder about purchasing another Apple product, let alone iPod. But I believe there has to be a solution out there since I doubt any PC users who went through this issues with their media would ever continue buying iPods to steadily increase the sales. So with glimmer of hope, I'm describing in more detail of my issue. >.<
    - my iPod is recognized. I can see all the media in it through iTunes.
    - When I press sync button at the bottom right, it stays depressed for couple seconds and then becomes active again. meanwhile, no messages show in status box at the top where apple logo sits.
    - I authorized the computer. (i had deauthorized it and reauthorized it again) RIGHT AFTER authorization, I right click on my iPod and click "transfer purchases". I get "some of the purchased items on the ipod including "writing pad" could not be transferred to your itunes library because you are not authorized to play them on this computer" !!!! and it shows it has 41 total problems.. all the apps and purchased songs in the iPod.
    - my iPod's firmware is a version right before the latest version. it's asking me to update but I'm afraid to do that until I'm able to back up all my media.. which I can't since iTunes wouldn't let me, despite me logging in EVERY possible information to prove that I am ME.
Thank you to anyone who's taking their time to check this issue out.
