Getting range of query result in 2004s

Hi,
I'm trying to determine range of a result area in a 2004s query using the following code :
Dim myrange As Range
Set myrange = Run("BEXAnalyzer.xla!SAPBEXgetResultRangeByID", "ZSKMILESTONESTEST")
I have also tried this using the technical ID of the query as in RZSCOMPDIR.
This causes a VB error and stops inside the SAPBEXgetResultRangeByID function and says "Object Variable or with block not set" on this line :
Set SAPBEXgetResultRangeByID = pAddin.SAPBEXgetResultRangeByID(ActiveWorkbook.Name, queryID, charName)
Can anyone help ?
Cheers
Sue

Hi Sue,
I know nothing about 2004s.  But, I know something about SAPBEXgetResultRangeByID.
The function's definition (from Object Browser) is:
Function SAPBEXgetResultRangeByID(ByVal queryID As String, Optional ByVal charName As String) As Range
Here are two examples that work for me ...
'This example locates query result Area using local query ID
Sub testResultRangeByID1()
Dim resultArea As Range, queryID As String
    queryID = "SAPBEXq0001"
    Set resultArea = Run("SAPBEX.xla!SAPBEXgetResultRangeByID", queryID)
    Application.Goto reference:=resultArea
End Sub
'This example locates a characteristic's filter cell
'using local query ID and technical name of characteristic
Sub testResultRangeByID2()
Dim resultArea As Range, queryID As String
    queryID = "SAPBEXq0001"
    Set resultArea = Run("SAPBEX.xla!SAPBEXgetResultRangeByID", queryID, "0SHIP_TO")
    Application.Goto reference:=resultArea
End Sub
Hope this helps.

  • How to get the dynamic query result

    If in one query, there is the amount range dimension, based on different dimension value combination, the customer revenue should be refreshed into different range, how to make it by cube?
    eg.
    Customer Store    Material  Month    Amount
    C001     M & S    Tennis    2005/01   "10"
    C001     Douglas  Tennis    2005/02   "60"

    C003     Douglas  Tennis    2005/01    20

    Time Customer Amount Range     Amount
    2005 C001     0~50_____________0
    2005 C001     51~100___________70
    2005 C001     100 +____________0
    2005 C002     0~50_____________0
    2005 C002     51~100___________0

    2005 C003     51~100___________0
    2005 C003     100+_____________0
    However, if I drill down Time into month, the result is total different, I only list the result related to customer C001
    Time     Customer  Amount Range    Amount
    2005/01  C001      0~50____________10
    2005/01  C001      51~100__________0
    2005/01  C001      100 +___________0
    2005/02  C001      0~50____________0
    2005/02  C001      51~100__________60
    2005/02  C001      100 +___________0
    Any good solution on that? Thanks for any input.

    Hi, Sen,
    I used your solution in my infocube and query, where I created a structure with 'between'. However, it is still the simple summation in different amount range.
    Just like the following:
    Sales ORG / Sales Office / Sales Rep / Amount
    East      / Atlanta      / 1001      / 3
    East      / Atlanta      / 1002      / 4
    So the query result is the same:
    S-ORG / S-Office / S-Rep / Amount Range / Amount
    East  / Atlanta  / 1001  / 0~5          / 3
    East  / Atlanta  / 1001  / 5+           / 0
    East  / Atlanta  / 1002  / 0~5          / 4
    East  / Atlanta  / 1002  / 5+           / 0
    When I remove 'drill down' for Sales Rep, the result is:
    S-ORG / S-Office / Amount Range / Amount
    East  / Atlanta  / 0~5          / 7
    East  / Atlanta  / 5+           / 0
    However our expection for the result is different, because in business traction, if we remove sales rep, the sales org and sales office will get the sub-total like this: (we can image it with ABAP program sub-total)
    Sales ORG / Sales Office / Amount
    East      / Atlanta      / 7
    So our expection for the result is:
    S-ORG / S-Office / Amount Range / Amount
    East  / Atlanta  / 0~5          / 0
    East  / Atlanta  / 5+           / 7
    Therefore, any good suggestion for this?
    Thanks a lot

    Here is a piece of code I use to test SQL commands, you can use the part that retrieves sql results.
    It is also possible to get the column headers back, but that is for next lesson!

  • Need to specify date range for query result.

    Below is my query. The query as is is working fine. The columns 'totalCalls' , 'totalOrders' and 'totalSCs' are all stored by date. I have created a form where the user can specify a start and end date. How would I change this query to report within those specified dates.

       (SUM(totalSCs) + totalCalls + (TSLdays*WCG/5))/QTCG AS PerCalls
    FROM Users u
    WHERE UserZone = 'Western'
    GROUP BY UserZone, UserID, TMName
    </cfquery>
    I figured I could add this to the columns WHERE statements;
    'AND Column BETWEEN #FORM.Start# AND #FORM.End#' but this isn't working.
    Any ideas???

    What is the SQL being generated by your <cfquery> contents?  Is it valid SQL?  This is always the first thing to check when you get SQL errors back from the DB... check what you're sending to the DB.
    Second: don't hard-code dynamic values into your SQL string, pass them as parameters.
    Re all the subqueries: it runs fine in dev. Have you tried to load test it?  If poss move your subqueries to the FROM statement, as then they're only run once per recordset. As opposed to once per row of the result set, when the subqueries are in the SELECT or WHERE statement.

    does anyone knows how to do this?????plz help me out.
    Thanks
    Aanchal

    Hi Aanchal,
    If an SQL error occurs now, you cannot see it in your code. You should do something with the exception you catch, e.g. printing it: sqlex.printStackTrace(), so that you can see if something goes wrong.
    For your number, you should move the cursor in the resultset to the first row - either by: calling first( ) or next ( ), then you can retrieve your booknumber.

  • BEx Query results not getting updated

    Hi,
    I am using a BEx Query based on a multiprovider which is fetching data from a multiple remote cubes and multiple regular cubes.
    Now when data in the source system is getting changed the corresponding remote cubes are getting update but query result are not getting re-fresh for at least 2 hours.
    We have already tried doing logging out and and logging into the bex system.
    Is there some cache setting which is required?
    Default cache mode in query is  'Main memory cache without swapping'.
    Kindly advice.
    Regards

    Hi,
    Just generate your query once with program RSR_GEN_DIRECT_ALL_QUERIES.
    By selecting your multiprovider .

  • Query Result Error

    Hi Experts,

    I am using Dashboard 4.1 SP3

    Hi Suman,
    Thanks for your quick reply...
    I am trying to just Preview data..
    I even checked the Bex Query its working fine. And i am not using any filters or prompts.
    I can even preview the data when i try to edit query in the Query Browser Tab in the Dashboard. But i don't know wts the problem i am unable to see the data in the SWF mode.

  • SQL Developer 3.0 EA1 - Query Result assumes keyboard focus

    In the Early Adopter 1 release of SQL Developer and noticed that after running a statement in a worksheet the focus for the keyboard is now in the query results pane. This change in behavior from version 2 is slightly disruptive and makes it harder to iteratively build queries or search for data without having to continuously keep moving the cursor back to the worksheet. I am using the linux version if it makes a difference and it happens both when click the run statement button or use the ctrl+enter shortcut key.
    I have been trying out the preview release and all around it looks good and has some very nice improvements. Just this and the missing export to clipboard are the only issues I've had so far.
    Edited by: user5490329 on Oct 14, 2010 9:06 AM

    I agree with the majority of people here that this is annoying and I'd also prefer to leave the input focus in the SQL Worksheet after I hit CTRL+ENTER, so I am looking forward to the fix.
    However, in some cases, it would come in handy if there was a shortcut key to quickly get to the query result tab, just like in TOAD, where F6 is used for this purpose. The same key is reserved for autotrace in SQL Developer, so another function key could be used.

  • X mark on Query Result

    Hi,
    I am getting X on Query result. My result is set to Average of all values <>0. I am getting X on teh result.
    I did N0DIV also but didnt work. N0DIV work for individual single value but not for the Result. I browed the forum but nothing. Can you please help in this?
    Regards
    Gaurav

    For example:
    Sales doc     A      B       C  (A-B/B*100)
    g1                $10   20       -100
    g2                 20    10        50
    Result           30     30       0
    Now the properties of C keyfigure i set to Average of all values<>0. But it shows X instead of 0. I have nDIV0 defined. I dont know if Average of All values<>0 is right?
    Is there anything else we can do?

  • Incorrect query results with conformResultsInUnitOfWork

    Hi,
    has anybody experienced this:
    Take two classes User and Group
    Group has a 1:n Mapping to User (attribute users)
    User has a 1:1 Mapping to User (attribute partner).
    Following query returns too many objects
    User user1 = someUserObject;
    ReadAllQuery readAllQuery = new ReadAllQuery(Group.class);
    Expression e = builder.anyOf("users").get("partner").equal(user1);
    readAllQuery.setSelectionCriteria(e);
    readAllQuery.conformResultsInUnitOfWork();
    Vector vector = (Vector) unitOfWork.executeQuery(readAllQuery);
    It returns
    - the correct Group object as determined from the sql query +
    - any other objects of the same class that are fully instantiated (users is instantiated and for each user, partner is instantiated), even if they don't conform to the expression.
    The same query works properly ;
    - without conformResults
    - or if the other objects are not fully instantiated

    Hi,
    we need an workaround badly and the support is moving at exactly the rate I feared it would.
    So I thought, since we only hit this bug with existing objects and we use conformResultsInUnitOfWork because we want to find the newly created objects, is there a way to get
    - the SQL Query results
    + any new objects that conform to the query
    We still might get new objects that don't conform to the query (this is the bug) but I'll worry about that later if it happens.
    My first attempt at a solution looks like this:
    1. turn off conformResults
    2. manually add all new objects that conform to the query
    I had to guess a little for 2, since I don't know what exactly toplink does to select the "conform" objects.
    private static List findConformNewObjects(UnitOfWork unitOfWork, ReadAllQuery query) {
    List result = new ArrayList();
    Class resultClass = query.getReferenceClass();
    Expression selectionCriteria = query.getSelectionCriteria();
    Enumeration enumeration;
    IdentityHashtable newObjectsCloneToOriginal = unitOfWork.getNewObjectsCloneToOriginal();
    if (newObjectsCloneToOriginal != null && newObjectsCloneToOriginal.size() > 0)
    enumeration = newObjectsCloneToOriginal.keys();
    while (enumeration.hasMoreElements())
    Object o = enumeration.nextElement();
    if (resultClass.isInstance(o))
    if (selectionCriteria != null && selectionCriteria.doesConform(o, unitOfWork, null, query.getInMemoryQueryIndirectionPolicy()))
    result.add(o);
    return result;
    Does this look OK to you? Is there a better way to do it?
    Ana

  • Iterate query result - put specific rows in a collection and do output

    JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0
    Oracle Lite: 10.2.0.1.0
    Browser: IE 7
    Hi,
    please help me in working on following requirement:
    1. Iterate the View Object Query Result
    2. Do some calculation on the Rows, lets say:
    Concatination of column1 and column2 and place it in a non database Attribute "column3"
    3. How to handle/place the non database attribute?
    4. Fetch specific rows from the query result; there should be a comparison, like checking master and detail hierachy struktur:
    Take Column1_ID (Master) check in columns2_ID (Detail), when found detail take this Row and place it in a buffer (Maybe ArrayList, or something like that)
    5. Show the Chace(ArrayList) to user, in a form of View Object, with standard functions like sorting and filtering
    Till now my process of solving the above requiremnts are:
    To Point 1:
    Created a service method in Application Implementation Class
       public void iterateEmp(){
         EmployeesVOImpl vo = getEmployeesVO1();
         while (vo.hasNext()){
          EmployeesVORowImpl row = (EmployeesVORowImpl)vo.next();
          System.out.println(row.getEmployeeId() + " | " + row.getFirstName() + " | " + row.getLastName() + " | " +  row.getEmail());
          //row.setCalcCol(row.getFirstName() + "," + row.getLastName());
         }To point 2:
    Added an attribute to the View Object, with updateable and Queryable options. Place it on the JSPX Page.
    With setter method, filled with values, for example (non Database Attributes Name is CalcCol):
    Name:
    //see above code
    row.setCalcCol(row.getFirstName() + "," + row.getLastName());When doing so, on initial Call the values will be representated, but when sorting o filtering will be done, the values then will be erased.
    3. Added an Attribute in View Object "Attributes Panel".
    Here the XML Code of the View Object:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252" ?>

    There should be a specific sort order, which i have to code in ADF.
    Just to give an overview:
    Colum1 and Column2 (nothing to do with the emp table) have relationship. Several hierachies are existing in the Query Result.
    For identifying the start point of any of these hierachies, i have to iterate through the Query Result and fetch these start point
    and buffer it in an array or something like that.So in the end i have to get the same query Result but with different Sort Order.
    How to buffer theses Rows (Array?) and show in a View Object?
    Can we use the same view Object for solving that, or should we use another View Object which catches the new Result Set?
    To Point 5:
    The Result should be, as mentioned above, a View Object including new Result Set, which can provide standard behavior (sort, filter)
    I hope the requirement is defined clearly enough, so maybe you can make some suggestions on that.
    Thank you for replies.

    Hi.. You can do this without DB View. Have CalcCol transient attribute in VO. Instead of iterating VO rows and setting CalcCol attr, generate View Row Impl class. Inside getCalcCol(), write your logic. This will be called during each and every request so that transient attr data won't become null during sorting and filtering. If your VO is entity driven, do the same in Entity impl class

  • How to show only the result line of a Query result ?

    Hi Experts,
    I want to show only the result line of the Query. Is this possible in query Designer ?
    In BeX Workbook, I can hide the rows but they grow or shrink dynamically and hence it is unpredictable how many rows to suppress.
    If you have any solutions/workarounds, please reply !
    Rekha

    VBA coding can be used to display just the Result rows.
    Somthing like this - modify as needed.
    This scans the range of query results looking to find the last row, then checks those rows to see if the word Result is found or not, deleting (or you could just hide) the detail rows.  There is also a LEAF option in BEx Boolean options that returns a 1 or 0 depending on whether a row is a detail or result that could also be used to hide rows rather than looking for the presence of "Result" in a particular column
    Sub SAPBEXonRefresh(queryID As String, resultArea As Range)
    For rownum = 17 To 64000 Step 1
    ' col 2 is the Total Result, col 3 is the User Group result
    If Cells(rownum, 2) = "" And Cells(rownum, 3) = "" Then
    lastrow = rownum - 1
    Exit For
    End If
    Next
    For rownum = lastrow To 17 Step -1
    If Cells(rownum, 2) = "Result" Or Cells(rownum, 3) = "Result" Then

    Need to see the complete query result when I gave the range in Analysis Authorization for Controlling Area 001-005. Controlling Area is auth relevant and right now a variable is inserted in the query for it. If I select Controlling Area 001, the result for Controlling Area 001 is displayed in query. If 002 then also displayed. If I do not enter anything, then I get the <b>Eye 007 error message</b>.
    I am not sure how do I display/authorize the entire result in the query for all the Controlling Areas, I have authorized user to see??
    <b>Its really urgent, please help..!</b>

    Hi,
        Have you defined the vaule for 0CO_AREA as BT 001-005 in you Authorization for 0CO_AREA.Also how have you defined your Authorization Variable on the query? Have you define as select options or interval? I thing you need to define it as interval or select options.
    Hope it helps,
    Cheers,

  • Getting query results from a PL/SQL procedure

    Hi! So, I’m a little stumped and I can’t seem to find the answer to what I believe is probably a simple question…
    So, here goes… I have a big ol’ union query that I use to create a report on a page, it’s about 25k – not over the 32k limit, but fails to be able to compile every time (I always get a 400 – Bad Request error). I’m not sure why this is happening, but I can remove a union statement and it compiles just fine – so it has something to do with the size of the query. ANYWAY – I’ve resolved that I should put this bad boy into the database as a stored procedure and just call it from Apex, my problem is I can’t figure out quite how to do this with variables, etc.…
    Instead of giving you my whole big query, I’ll use the emp table as the concept is the same:
    Say we have a query that creates a report on a page:
    select empno, ename, job, mgr, hiredate, sal, comm, deptno
    from emp
    where job = :P_JOB
    and hiredate >= :P_HIREDATE;
    How would I take this query, create it as a stored procedure on the db, pass the variables from Apex and return the query result set from the stored proc as a report?
    I really appreciate any help on this!
    Best,
    Gilcrest

    Hi Gilcrest,
    You should create the query as a View and use the view name and the WHERE clause in the report's sql source.
