Getting Step Results into Labview

Hi,
I'm having what seems to be an easy problem but one which I cannot figure out quickly.
I'm trying to do the following. I am trying to do some custom logging to a specific format for my Teststand results. I'd basically like to pass the Results parameters of each step into Labview Code where I will process there. To make it more user friendly I have created a Callback for SequenceFilePostResultListEntry. What I don't exactly know how to do is get the Results from the current step into LabVIEW
At first I used the SequenceContext.PreviousStep but that did not give me what I needed. Hopefully I'm clear in what I am asking.
Thanks for the help,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,
Are you having trouble doing this with a LabVIEW Adapter Action Step?  If you are trying to pass specific run-time values to your LabVIEW VI, you will be able to find them by setting breakpoints and looking at the available variables.
For example, in your SequenceFilePostResultListEntry callback, if you wanted to use the test's Status result as an input to your LabVIEW Adapter Action Step, you could use the expression RunState.Caller.Step.Result.Status as the value you pass.
Please let me know whether this answers your question.
Warm Regards,

  • How to get step results without tracing?

    Hi everybody,
    I've written an operator interface in VB6 and I need the result of each step.
    The problem is, that I can't use tracing.
    Is there a posibility to get the results without tracing?
    Thank you in advance for your help!!

    Hi,
    The Operator Interface displays each step in the window when tracing is enabled, otherwise nothing is displayed during execution for the sequencefile.
    Providing the Report is enabled, either in the configuration report options or via the Sequence Callback ReportOptions and the Sequence being run is using the process model entry point (Single Pass or TestUUT's), a report will be generated. Tracing doesn't affect whether a report is generated.

  • Getting step results/parameters on PostStepFailure Engine Callback

    I'm trying to do some fault isolatio in my tests. I've enabled the PostStepFailure Engine Callback and I'm passing the step and result handles to a C function as CAObjHandles. My problem is that I can't find any of the step result/parameters like:
    TS.StepName
    TS.StepType
    Comp
    Measurement
    Limits.Low
    Limits.High
    The callback works fine, but I need to access these variables in order to do the fault isolation. Can any one tell me how I can access these six variables?
    I've tried to access these variables both in the sequence file and then passing the values to the C-function as well as in the C-function, but both methods yield errors
    Hurst

    Hi Hurst,
    The main problem here is going to be dealing with all the different step types.  Because Numeric Limit Test will pass different information to the parameters than a Pass/Fail Step.  You won't see any of the information there during development but if you put a breakpoint in your SequenceFilePostStepFailure callback then you will be able to look at the parameters in the Context tab.  You will see that if you fail a Numeric Limit Test you can get access to the limits by using Parameters.Step.Limits.Low/Parameters.Step.Limits.High.  However, this wouldn't exist if you had a different step type. By looking at the Context tab when you put in a breakpoint you will be able to look for the other variables as well.
    Hope this helps.

  • Need to get select result into a shell variable.

    Hi,
    I want to get below command output into a OS variable. Which will be used later in the shell script. Can you please advice how to go about it?
    VAR v_tool_execution_id NUMBER;
    EXEC :v_tool_execution_id := trcanlzr.trca$p.get_tool_execution_id;
    SELECT TO_CHAR(:v_tool_execution_id) tool_execution_id FROM DUAL;
    I can't do following
    VAR1=`sqlplus -s $unpwd <<EOF
    VAR v_tool_execution_id NUMBER;
    EXEC :v_tool_execution_id := trcanlzr.trca$p.get_tool_execution_id;
    SELECT TO_CHAR(:v_tool_execution_id) tool_execution_id FROM DUAL;
    EOF`
    Since tool execution is specific to session and exiting will not server my purpose since i need to run another command which generates a file name using tool execution id.
    Thanks for your time.

    Actually the idea is the same. Instead of getting the variable into a shell script, call the shell script which use the variable from sqlplus. I attempted to include the line to call a shell script but had a mistake :P
    The last line should be
    SQL> host /path/to/second/part.sh &exec_idAnother way is to spool the variable into a file, then read the file into a variable in your shell script. You need to use head / tail command to extract the desired row, because Oracle adds blank lines, headers, etc in its spool output
    In your SQL script
    SQL> spool tool_execution_id.txt
    SQL> SELECT TO_CHAR(:v_tool_execution_id) tool_execution_id into :vtemp FROM DUAL;
    SQL> spool offIn your shell script (the desired line appeared in the second last line in my case)
    tool_execution_id=`tail -2 tool_execution_id.txt|head -1`
    echo $tool_execution_idEdited by: thtsang on Mar 30, 2010 11:43 AM

  • Sending arrays from Excel into Labview

    I want to send an array from Excel VBA into a LabView VI.
    The Excel example shows how to send individual numbers and return an array into Excel but not send an array.
    Everything tried sends blank arrays into LabView, which can then be modified in LabView and returned to Excel.
    A VBA code snippit that does not work is:
    Sub LoadData()
    ' LoadData Macro
    ' Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+l
    ' This is an example to demonstrate LabVIEW's Active-X server capabilities.
    ' Executing this macro loads a LabVIEW supplied example VI "Frequency Response.vi",
    ' runs it and plots the result on an Excel Chart.
    Dim lvapp As LabVIEW.Application
    Dim vi As LabVIEW.VirtualInstrument
    Dim paramNames(0)
    Dim paramVals As Variant
    Set lvapp = CreateObject("LabVIEW.Application")
    viPath = lvapp.ApplicationDirectory + "\examples\apps\freqresp.llb\DAK Frequency Response.vi"
    Set vi = lvapp.GetVIReference(viPath)   'Load the vi into memory
    vi.FPWinOpen = True                     'Open front panel
    paramNames(0) = "Foo"
    paramVals = Sheet1.Range("j1:j1000").Value
    Call vi.Call(paramNames, paramVals)
    This code generates an error - expecting 1D array or variants.
    However, if I supply the correct array, then LabView thinks it is empty
    'foo' is a cluster
    'Array' is a double array
    Neither work to receive the data

    Thanks for the reply but that approach will be difficult.  The problem to solve is relatively simple IF LabView could read arrays (it writes arrays easily).  Here is the problem:
    I want to convolute two large arrays.  I have written VBA programs to do this but they take too long - over 30 sec whereas the LabView version take <1 sec IF I could get the data into LabView.
    The convolute is part of an optimization program that goes though many loops so that it takes hours to run efficiently AND if I manually change cells in the spreadsheet, then it takes 30sec to come back as VBA does not respect clean cells (for some reason).
    I was trying to write a function in VBA to do this calculation via LabView rather than VBA.  One way to  do this is to write a text file in VBA and read in LabView, then pass the results back or maybe the clipboard as a buffer.  That is faster but clumsy.  You could also have LabView look for dirty cells and then do the calculation as the server rather than the client.  Again, time consuming and cumbersome.  I have written pure LabView code to do the curve fitting but prefer to use Excel as that is easier to incorporate and work with the data.   You can do convolute using FFTs but Excel does not do that correctly - they CANNOT make their FFTs into a function (VBA functions cannot modify cells in the spreadsheet but only return variables.  FFT modifies cells so cannot be called from a function, only a macro, which then needs to be updated manually).  Again, I can kluge VBA (real kluge this time) to make FFTs work as a function BUT prefer the LabView solution, if possible, as I am not sure the FFT will actually save time.
    I am not sure if the problem is LabView's fault or Excel's (2013) fault that the variables are not set-up properly.  LabView claims to be able to do this.  Again, you can pass single variables into LabView and read back arrays but try as I might, I cannot get arrays into LabView.
    Any help in sending arrays (maybe Labview expects a variant variable and needs to convert it somehow) would be appreciated.  Variants are suppose to be able to be converted automatically but maybe there is a bug in LabView (2010) that does not handle input variant arrays correctly (I have tried making them clusters, double arrays, ect).  LabView thinks that all the arrays sent by VBA are empty. If LabView modifies the same array, VBA sees that modification so that the addresses appear to be sent correctly i.e. the array "handle" is being sent to LabView or else it could not fill the array to send back to VBA.
    If ever this is solved, I will put on-line the solution for others as again marrying both programs will have advantages.  Others may find this interesting is marry LabView with Excel so that LabView does some of the heavy calculations that Excel has kluged.

    For your questions:
    1) I don't want to store in the database as a nested table
    2) I don't want to retrieve data from the database. Data will come from function split_date() parameter and data will be processed in the function and function will return it in nested table format. For more detail please look at the raw function SQL.
    I have a SQL like:
    WITH all_dates

                SELECT tr_end_date, 0 FROM travel

                SELECT bo_start_date - 1, 1 FROM black_out_dates
                UNION ALL
                SELECT bo_end_date + 1, -1 FROM black_out_dates),
         got_analytics
            AS (SELECT a_date AS start_date,
                       LEAD( a_date ) OVER (ORDER BY a_date, black_out_val)
                          AS end_date,
                       SUM( black_out_val ) OVER (ORDER BY a_date, black_out_val)
                          AS black_out_cnt
                  FROM all_dates)
      SELECT start_date, end_date
        FROM got_analytics
       WHERE black_out_cnt = 0 AND start_date < end_date
    ORDER BY start_date;I want to change the tables black_out_dates and travel to Nested Array so I can use it in a function with Nested Array travel and Nested Array black_out_dates parameters and the function will return Nested Array of date ranges.
    Here is what I want in raw SQL:
        DECLARE
           g_splited_range_arr   DATE_RANGE_ARR := DATE_RANGE_ARR( );
           g_travel_range        DATE_RANGE := DATE_RANGE( '20110101', '99991231' );

  • How to get sequence overall result in LabView ?

    Hello,
    Would anyone can help with this tiny problem ?
    We have a batch (.bat) that launches a given list of TestStand sequences, which works as expected.
    However, we would like to monitor the result of each sequence and display it to the operator.
    Our idea is to get the sequence result in a VI, run at sequence end, and add it to a queue, that will be retrieved and displayed on a VI monitor, run separetly.
    The only problem we have left is to be able to retrieve the sequence global result. Any idea or suggestion ?
    Thanks
    Raphael
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks. The problem is not the monitor and how to pass the information to it.
    We already have a test monitor (using queues) that is working as expected.
    The test sequence is queuing information, mainly at steps end with step result, and the monitor is displaying information from that queue. The queue is resseted at each sequence start.
    We would like to derivate that monitor to display only sequences (launched by a batch file) overall-global-final result of all the sequences ran. Using UImessage is maybe a better way, but we do not want to spend time re-writing another monitor.
    The problem is how do we retrieve this overall-global-final sequence result in LabVIEW ?

  • How can I get an unsigned char string with nulls from a dll into LabVIEW 6i?

    The following ethernet packet data is contained in an unsigned char * string returned from my dll (it's formatted on printing):
    Received A 230 Packet On Adapter 0x008F0070
    Ethernet Dest: 01.E0.BB.00.00.15 Src: 00.E0.BB.00.DD.CC Type: 0x8868

    However, when I read this string into LabVIEW 6i, I only get the following:
    01E0 BB
    Which is the data before the first NULL or 00 information. I found a "Remove Unprintable Chars.vi" but it
    just sees more data before the above string, nothing after, as seen here: 5C30 31E0 BB.
    Anybody have any suggestions for how to get the rest of the string? Is there something I can do to further reformat my dll? The dll I'm using is already a wrapper around another dll so I have some flexibility, but the bottom line is, the data I want is in the format of an unsigned char *.

    The first thing I notice is that the first 4 bytes are chopped off, and after about 50 bytes, the data is corrupted until the sequence starts to repeat, but this time it starts with the missing 4 bytes and still corrupts after about 55 bytes.
    I am expecting the data in LabVIEW to look very similar to the C data because the network packets I am grabbing are pretty consistant, only a couple bytes will vary between them, not the number I am seeing in LabVIEW.
    Another side effect I'm seeing is that I can only run my labVIEW code once, if I try running it again it crashes with failures such as:
    memory could not be "read"
    For reference, I am opening and closing the network adapter inside the read function of my dll, but the pointer seems like it should be intact...

    I may have gotten past this.  The ui showed the first execution of that proc as the aborting component but when I looked at my error code (-1073548784), and component name in the
    message sent with notification email, I noticed the second component name.  It too executes that proc and still had ushort for appid in sql task mapping and long for instance id.  I changed these characteristics to match what I posted and got green
    on the seq container that runs both.
    I think I go thru this kind of adventure every time I try to map proc output to ssis vars.

  • How to get the entire result into an XMLDocument??

    Hello,
    I would like to get the result of a DB Query as XMLDocument. Here's the code I use:
    ResultSet rset = stmt.executeQuery();
    OracleResultSet orset = (OracleResultSet) rset;
    while (orset.next()) {
    XMLType poxml = XMLType.createXML(orset.getOPAQUE(1));
    Document doc = poxml.getDOM();
    The problem is, that I can only get a XMLDocument per table row, but not an XMLDocument of the entire result.
    Regards,
    Dominik

    I got the answer myself:
    In the xsql-query, use the xmlagg() function to group the all records into one record.
    Use the same Java code.

  • Get ALV Report's Result Into Internal Table

    Hello everyone,
    is there a way to get a alv reports result into an internal table?
    For example: is it possible to get the values from transaction S_ALR_87012078.
    I mean i want to write a function an it will give you the alv reports result as internal table, so  you won't have to dig the reports code in.
    thanks to any answers from now. bye.

    Try just Opening the Word .doc from within Pages and see if that gets closer to what you want, then copy the chapter you want from the Pages version.

  • How do I get my RF signals transmitted via the Bluetooth protocol into Labview for evaluation?

    Hi! I have a few questions about how to implement Bluetooth into labview. I do have a stream of 128 kbps of raw data that i would like to transfer with bluetooth and eventually get into a pc with labview. What kind of hardware do i need on the recieving PC side and what kind of software is recommended? Would be glad to get some advice to get me started on this matter. I think that the use of an USB dongle would be possible and just connect to the USB port. Is there any documented test on this matter and how it turned out? Maybee i should say that my system is a cable replacement that sends packets of 16-bit from 8 channels and it is important that this data wont be delayed to m

    Petter,
    A google search on Bluetooth and LabVIEW yielded a link to a National Instruments page ( http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/5EB9312A6470F16A86256E7500726F15 ) on this very subject. You might want to start there.

  • Without NI DAQ device- how to get data from MSP into labVIEW and process it

    Hi,
    I do not have an NI DAQ device. I have an MSP430 and my sensor is an ADXL335 Accelerometer. How do I get data from my MSP into labVIEW and process it?
    Just looking for a nudge in the right direction. I'm having a hard time finding resources on labVIEW that don't involve NI specific DAQs.
    Thanks in advance,
    Aziz

    There are many ways to get data into LabVIEW that do not involve NI-DAQ devices.
    I think your easiest option would be to stream it via serial port if the data rate isn't too fast.
