Gif Support?

Does the starter edition not support gifs?
I can't find any mention of it in the documentation or in the comparison chart.

I ask because I have tried it. When I try to import a gif specificlly, I get a message saying "file type not supported" which I'm unable to find any documentation on.
This means I don't know if it's just that it dosn't support gifs,or if there's some other problem I'm having that I may well have with the full version as well.

Does ImageIO.write of GIF support transparent?

I have been use ImageIO.write and BufferedImage to save current Panel's paint(). with transparency.

but now I want to save as GIF file,not png.
but I change png -> gif

And how can I success to do this.
Does ImageIO.write of GIF support transparent?

Mac OS 10.4.11 Acrobat CS4 - Can Acrobat support an animated gif.

Verizon Message+ gif support

I started using the Verizon Message+ app and really like it especially because of the integrated features for texting via a PC or a tablet. However I have tried to send and receive animated gifs and they do not work. They work with other apps including the default messaging app but not when sent or received in messages+. Is there a solution or does this app just not support gifs?

I would like to look into this for you and see what is going on. Verizon Messages is a great application to use. Have you ever been able to send animation gifs? What happens exactly when you try to send these gifs via Verizon Messages?

Add animated GIF support in chats (for computer users)

I know that there's a post for getting GIFs availalble in the mobile section but I wanted to add it to the laptop/desktop section. I think that being able to add GIFs just like if they were regular images would be a tremendous improvement to the IM system.

Why don't apple add animated gifs support on their products

It's so annoying that their products still don't support animated gifs it will be great if they added this feature. And it will be great if they add Bluetooth file share.

What happened to GIF image support ?

Hello All,
JavaFX API went to a drastic change. Initially, GIF image used to behave as GIF image and one can see the animation of GIF image on Canvas but now GIF images behaves like normal image. What happened to the GIF support ?

Importing .GIF into Fc will not play the animated gif in output

I imported a animated .gif (attached video.gif) into Fc (of a sequence of pics I took saved as an animated .gif)
It inported as a "bitmap image" and upon export to swf it did NOT show the .gif as an animated .gif but just shows the first frame..
(It did not put this file into an assests folder...)
So I converted the "bitmap image" into an optimaized graphic...and NOW it DOES put the original animated gif into the "assets" folder with a Graphic1.fxg and video.gif in that folder.. and If I open the gif in the assest folder it plays it as the animated .gif it is..
BUT SADLY upon export to SWF it still DOES not play the gif as an animated gif.. just the first frame...
Can I do anything in the code to tell the swf file that is exported to play the gif in the assest folder as an animated gif not just show the frame?
I did the animated gif approach becasue I setup a photoshop cs4 file with a quicktime video as a layer and Fc only brought in the first frame of the quicktime layer..
Could the next beta of Fc include the ability to import and play animated gifs as artwork as well AND/or to import Ps Cs4 video layers as videos
So I would have to created a video page in flash pro and import that as a object? into a state?
(no experience with flash pro but just bought cs4 and will try to learn FlashPro overweekend)

Interesting. I don't think this is somethign you can do in Flash Catalyst. We have .GIF support in the Flash Player but I don't think you can use a GIF asset inside Catalyst. If you need that GIF to play you'll have to embed it using Flash Builder.
But Flash Catalyst will support video version 1.0. I don't think you can turn arbitrary layers into "video" layers but you can bring in video files (like .FLV) and then attach components to behaviors (like play, stop, etc).

Animated GIF transparency in Muse

I am using Adobe Muse CC 2014 and am interested in placing either a transparent animated .GIF image or an Adobe Edge Animate CC 2104 transparent .OAM image on top of
an image in the <body> section. Placing the Adobe Edge Animate .oam image results in a NON-TRANSPARENT background, even though the same background when
creating/saving/viewing the .html image in Adobe Edge Animate displays as transparent.
I created an animation with a transparent background in both Adobe Photoshop CC 2104 and Fireworks CS6, saving the file as an animated .gif. In both applications, the
background is again, transparent. Placing either of those animated .gif images on top of a <body> background image (.jpg) results in a white stroke/outline around the
non-transparent part of the animated .gif.
All help would be greatly appreciated for enabling either an Adobe Edge Animate .oam image with a transparent background, or an animated .gif file with a transparent
background to be placed on top of a <body> image in Adobe Muse WITHOUT a stroke/outline of any color. Either the steps to make this happen OR a temporary
workaround would be terrific!
NOTE: The stroke of the image has been set to NONE in Adobe Muse to remove this option as a variable.

I appreciate your reply. The problem, in this case, did not lie with Photoshop or Fireworks - both of which were used in the creation of the animated images. In both
applications, adding a darker background (just for testing purposes) shows no white outline. As it turned out, the problem was due to the nature of saving (in this case)
a .gif from either a .png file (native to Fireworks), or from a .psd file (Photoshop, of course). The .gif supports transparency, but only at greater than 50%. Anything at 50% or
less (as would occur with anti-aliasing or feathering, for example) will resolve to white. Since there was feathering (and anti-aliasing) for both the transparent characters
as well as the outer edge of the sphere, saving the file as an animated .gif caused the white outline to appear.
The GOOD news is that there is a solution to the problem. I created a file with the animated images 3X larger than the final size. When the image was reduced
in Adobe Muse to the desired size, the white outlines disappeared, leaving me with what I intended as an image from the beginning.
Thanks all who replied and ultimately helped to determine first the cause of the white outlines, and then a way to "fix" the problem.

I think the problem may be that your using an animated gif. If you read the doc on the Curson class it says that Cursor is a bitmap representation of the mouse cursor. Bitmaps do not generally support animation. Also it is likely the createCustomCursor method is waiting for a call to ImageConsumer.imageComplete(). I am not sure, but if the GIF animation loops this function may never get called. This could cause your hangup. I would suggest trying a non-animated GIFf produced from the same program to ensure that your paint program is producing compliant GIFs. If that works I would assume the problem is that Cursor does not support animation at this time. I could be wrong about that, but there is nothing in the documentation to indate that it would.

I believe with Leopard, animated GIFs support was discontinued in Mail. It might be an animated GIF you are trying to load.

Can not view my photos in iPhoto. All photos are black

I have an iPad 3 and I can not view my photos. I can view them through the photo stream on my phone but on my iPad they come up black. I'm not sure what to do.

Anybody have any idea what's going on? Is gif supported? Should I be able to view gif photos? If I can't what might be going wrong, and what can I do to fix it?

Blinking Icons

Hello to all,
I know there is animated gif support in swings, but I have an question.
Imagine, java application, communicating throug corba ( 1 tink 12 Threads used for his coomunication:) splitted pane, with treem where each leaf has its onw animated gif, 2. pane static pane, without something extra ( some controls using observre observable pattern to update its content )south pane, own list pane, containing 1 list and one JTable derived component, which should be updated with datas, which are send by server to client ( approx 1500 items/min into this table ), and the last on, North pane containing some JButton derived components (aprox 50 ) which also has animated gif on it.
So this is fully quilified client :), but at this time we are not using any blinking icons because I think its impossible ( when tree is opened there is 100 of leafs, which has its own icons, and these icons, shlud be animated :( ( I think it is a worth solution I've seen in my life, but product management need it, so it should be done. ISO halleluja :( )
I want to ask us, that is is good solution to make my thread for icns, and instead of animated gifs use some number of static gifs, and animation do with my thread. I think there will be synchronization problems with AWT thread, but nobody knows, maybe somebody met this problem also.
