Gigaworks s700 blinking powerlight

Well title says it all. I have searched the boards. Only thing I have found was to basically return the subwoofer. This isn't gonna happen I'm out of warranty. And I'm not gonna put any more money into these speakers. Creative tech service is junk... The last thing I want to hear when I want help cause of faulty equipment is that I'm gonna have to pay before they help me. Well I got a few choice words for them. None of them nice.
So I'm asking the community if theres anybody out there who has had this problem and has been able to fix it themselfs. I would need a diagram and directions. But I'm not stupid, and can do it with just that. Of course if its not just one thing I would also need to know what to check and how to check it.
There is no way I'm shipping the subwoofer back and paying them to fix it. I will throw it in the trash before I do that. I will never buy anything from creative again unless I get some helpful feedback here. I'd rather pay 300$ and get a new system then pay creative which could be 40$ or more to fix something that I have no faith in anymore. I really am dissappionted in your service. I mean really you could atleast try and help other then saying well unless you pay your not getting any help from us. Really theres plenty of companys that offer help over the phone without having to pay for it...

well... if there is more than 100 % i would say your infinity% right ...... i purchased the GIGAWORKS S750 2 weeks ago.. the first problem i faced is that no sound came from the rear right... then no sound from side right ... and the rear right gives.... they told me its a connection problem.... i checked the cables 1000000000 times and still there is no sound.... everytime i email the customer support... they say check the cables... " DONT HESITATE TO CONTACT US IF YOU NEED ANY CLARIFICATION " ..... actually i get no help .. id better save my time than emailing you..then a week later .. the power LED started blinkling when i was listening to music on a "LOW " ... the system totally shut down...... NOwi reutrned the system to the place of purchase, and everytime they send it to creative they say there is no problem with the sub..... how come ... !?! they returned the sub and its not workin..... now they will replace it with a new system... but do u think the problem is solved.. after looking at the discussion forums... i became 100000 % sure that the power led will blink after one month,2 months 1 year , 2 years i dunno when...... at that time the warranty will expire.... HOw come such a well known company could have such problems.. they should be ashamed of themselves for not delivering satisfactory systems.... now i payed 300$ as a first payment for the fuked up giga system and all what im thinking of is " OH MY GOD the LED will blink after a while."" should i continue like this..... GIGAWORKS " THX CERTIFIED" >>>>>>> LED blinks...... OH MY GOD .. after getting the new system ill try it.... if it blinks.. ill tell them to replace it with the PROGAMER or else im gonna pay the rest of the payments..

  • Gigawork s700 vs logitech z5500 vs klipsch ultra 5.1

i wanna buy a set of 5.1 speakers, the purpose is to use it on pc and DVD player.
i want GOOD SOUND QUALITY, LOUD and Earthquake BASS.
Which brand and model is better?
Gigawork s700? Logitech z5500? Klipsch ultra 5.1 or any other suggestion?
    Thanks alot.

Definitely go with the klipsch 5.1 ultras. It has by far the best bass out of the 3.1 The logitech may appear to have more bass but it will sound boomy and not as tight and refined as the ultra sub. The gigaworks sub doesn't compare as it's only one 8" instead of 2 and doesn't go as low as the ultras. The 5.1 ultras are just all around the best multimedia speaker set right out right now. The support with klipsch is also amazing and I've been helped by them myself in the past when my original klipsch 5.1's died and they upgraded them to the ultras for free AND paid for shipping all in a timely fashion. That's amazing service and logitechs and creative's service just do not compare. A set of gigaworks I tried a couple of weeks ago didn't even work out of the box. No sound from them at all. $100 down the drain for just trying out those speakers from newegg with shipping and restocking fee. I Bought another set of ultras and couldn't be happier.

  • Creative gigaworks s700 no sound problem!

I recently bought the gigaworks s700 system a while ago. the problem is, these speakers seem to work intermittently! I push the button to turn them on and the green volume indicator turns on, and everything seems fine. When I try to listen to anything, I hear nothing from any speakers! The funny thing is though, they seem to work at other times for no reason at all. All of the connectors are seated properly and the speakers are paired to an Audigy ZS 2. Please help me, I don't want to be out $350!!! I really really appreciate help that anyone can give me.

You know I have the same quirks happening to me quite a bit. I'll have one channel go dead for no reason. I just jiggle the connection wires and reset the the audio controller and hope for the best. It usually solves the problems its just something you should not have to contend with when you lay out that kind of dough. But they sure do sound great, dont they.

  • Distorted Subwoofer Sound from Heavy Bass - Gigaworks S700

When I first got this speaker system, the subwoofer worked great. After awhile of some heavy bass from rap music, the subwoofer got this distorted sound. I sent it in for repairs and when they sent it back it worked good for a little while. After some more heavy bass the distorted sound came back again. I call it a "ripple effect" that occurs. It's okay with a little bass, but if I put in some rap music with heavier bass, it gets really annoying with that "rippling" sound. The bass is much weaker than it is supposed to be. I already sent it in once, and I figure sending it in again will just be a waste of time. It would be nice to just get a replacement, even if I have to pay for the sub seperately. Even that wouldn't guarantee it would work, because maybe Creative's subs are just not that good for heavy bass.
My subwoofer has been like this for several months now, but I haven't done anything about it because I figure it will be a waste of time. I figure I just buy another speaker system from somebody else in the future, but today I decided to post this here. Anybody else have a similar issue with the subwoofer? Maybe I could ask Creative for a replacement sub, but I don't know if they'll do that. When I first contacted them about it, I wanted to know if I could just get a replacement (free or at a cost) because I didn't want to wait a few weeks to listen to music, but they ignored that part of my email and sent me an RMA number and stuff anyways.

It sounds like you may be damaging your bass speaker. When you first got your speakers, at what volume did you play them at? What you need to do is start them at a lower volume and let the speakers play continuously for a few hours. You might notice the speakers get louder even though you didn't touch the volume control. Turn up the speakers a little bit and have them play for a few more hours. Keep repeating this until your speakers are playing slightly above your normal listening level. This is called "breaking in" the speakers. Whether or not this does anything can be up for debate, but I noticed that my MegaWorks 550 got louder and the subwoofer was pumping out cooler air after this procedure. If you play your speaker at a very high volume when you first get them, you are asking for trouble. Also, leaving speakers playing full blast for a while can damage them.
As for a replacement subwoofer, you'll have to contact Cambridge SoundWorks at www.hifi.com because they're the ones who actually make the GigaWorks and MegaWorks. The subwoofer for the MegaWorks 550 is the BassCube 82 (but without the internal 6ch. amp). I'm not sure about the GigaWorks.

  • Dead Gigaworks S750, Blinking LED on subwoofer; anyone know how to fix?

    Hi everyone,
My beloved set of speakers died two days ago. I was in the middle of something when i heard and saw a spark from the subwoofer's left port hole.
Now the power LED on the rear of the sub blinks on and off and the control pod is completely useless.
I've read through *some* of that very long thread about blown fuses. I opened the sub up and i cant find any burnt components and the fuses are all fine.
Does anyone know what is wrong?

Hi silon It looks like you have a short on the 75volt supply. It could be the small yellow capacitors on the power amp boards, they seem to fail short circuit all the time and have caused many problems. If the green power LED is flashing you have been lucky and the power supply is still ok. Don't switch it back on as every flash of the LED could kill the power supply BIG time. Read the following thread, it will show you the position of the capacitors in question and I also give a better replacement component type. There is also some references to some photos of failed caps so you know what to look for.(but the only way to test them for shorts is with a multimeter). If you are handy with a soldering iron it is easy to do. TGAH http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ge.id=577#M577

  • Gigaworks s700 questions

    hey all
i recently hooked up my s700 speaker system to my computer. just had a few questions...
    1. my headset has two connectors, one for sound and one for the mic.. since the control pod only has a headphone jack does this mean my headset is basically useless?
    2. is there any software to control each individual speakers volume? i put my ear up close to the middle speaker but im not hearing anything and id just like to be sure. im using a soundblaster audigy 2 value if that helps.
    3. if my headset is useless, is the best option to buy a microphone separately or are there headsets that have one connector for both headphones and microphone?
    thanks

First of all what material is this constructed of?
    Don't know
How much does each speaker Weigh?
How Many Watt is each speaker?
    4 together 28
Do both speakers have those wind guards?
probably, it's just a way of showing both possibilities in one picture

  • DELL A920 inkjet printer has a blinking power light

    Hi!
I have a A920 printer that I think seems to suffer from some hardware problem.
The printer software reports that there's a communication problem.
The printer it self is trying to tell me something with its blinking powerlight, but I can't figure it out.
When I open the printer-lid, it should center the ink-wagon for inspection or ink-refill.
    Well... it doesn't.
When I power on the printer (with the lid open), there's a buzz from some small el-motor inside for about 3-4 sec's - then the power-light starts blinking - in regular pattern - aprox 2 blinks pr sec. .
When I turn it off, the ink-wagon moves a small distance to the left, halts and returns to its parkingslot. This indicates that the printers internal controls are working to some extent.
I have tried all the tips I found on Dells WEB - everything from disconnect/reconnect USB to delete printer object and let XP re-find it. And that is kind'a strange - all the time the software reports "connection problems".

    Hi Rserio,
Thank you for reaching out to us. The issue can be caused either with printer board or the cartridges. - - You can try removing the cartridges and see if the printer light still blinks. if not then change the cartridges which should ideally fix the issue.
If the issue still persists then please remove the power cable and restart the printer by plugging it back in.
Even after this if the issue persists then looks like an issue with printer board for which printer needs to be replaced. However, this printer is obsolete and you can buy a new printer accordingly.
Hope this information helps. Please reach out if you have any other concerns.

  • Very Low Volume - Audigy

Hi everyone, I just bought a custom-built computer and had an Audigy OEM put in it. The problem I have is that, with all of the volume levels up, the actual volume produced by my speakers is low. I'm using an old Compaq MV500 monitor that has the JBL speakers mounted on the sides. They are hooked up to the green port on the sound card. Does anyone know why this is? Do I need amplified speakers with this card?

    Audigeer,
Are your speakers powered (plug into the wall for power) or do they require amplification? The Audigy requires that the speakers be powered because it does not contain an amplifier. You may have to replace your speakers, however this may be a good opportunity to upgrade to a 2. or 5. speaker system. Some suggested systems would be:
    2. systems:

  • Speakers 6.1 or 7.1 to my Sound Card

Hi guys... well... I have a SB Audigy2 ZS and I want to know what speaker system is the best to buy...
I dont want speakers with 500RMS... just between 80-20RMS... to play DVDsMovies and PC-Games... must be 6.1 or 7.1... must have analogic Inputs... not Digital.... to use the EAX for games.
I was thinking in Creative Inspire 6.1 6600... or Creative Inspire 7.1 T-7700... what do u think about these?... what other Speaker System do you suggest?... thnxz for your time.-

A card like the Audigy 2 ZS can decode sound from DVDs, and output this to analog speakers like the Inspire T5400, T7700, etc. The DDTS-100 can be used independently as it's a decoder box, so this could be used seperate from the PC.
If you're going to be using the PC as the entertainment center, a soundcard like the Audigy 2 ZS matched with analog speakers would be the best. If you want something a little more powerful than sets like the T5400 and T7700, take a look at the Megaworks (ProGamer G500, 550) and Gigaworks (S700) speakers.

  • Need speaker repair.... Creative won't help at all.

Yeah so I have a gigaworks s700 and the center channel connector on the subwoofer is wiggly. I think it just needs soldered back on but there is no easy way to get to it without taking a whole lot of stuff apart and ripping glued pieces apart. So I'm not inclined to go digging through it when it still functions as a 4.1 system just fine. After multiple emails to creatives "Customer Support" I am still stuck. Aparently they like to tell us that the product is at the end of its service life and they totally turn their back to it which is the total opposite of customer support.
So creative won't help and I am leaning towards never buying Creative again.. which pains me to say it. If I have to put up with this lack of support with any more of their products I will scream.
So anyways.... if ANYBODY has an 800 number of creatives that has PEOPLE I can talk to that are preferably english speaking with minimal accents and does not charge me 2.99 to see if my cables are plugged in right, I would be grateful. Also, I am willing to PAY to have this woofer repaired by a professional if Creative has such a thing. Any info from anyone is grately appreciated. Thanks!
    Unhappy customer

Dude, get out your screwdriver, pliers and the soldering iron.
Even if you're not handy at all, you still got a much better chance of fixing the thing than waiting for official support.
    Good luck, mate.

  • 5.1 sound great demo using Windows Media Pla

Here is a fast URL for a .wma file that will really works your sound card in 5.. I have an Audigy 2 card that has been working well for me. I added a GigaWorks S700 speaker system to use as a portable surround demo for movie sound. I am impressed with how well this works.

If I remember correctly there is a set of jumpers on that board for enable/disabling front panel audio jacks. That might be your prob.
    hi GREYSTAR,
the set of audio jumpers on the motherboard does not affect the coaxial SPDIF output at all. it only affects the analog audio output from the motherboard.

  • No sound through speak

Hey all this is my first time on these boards. I purchased a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 nx a couple days ago and love it. I plugged in some headphones and the sound was amazing. My problem is when I plug in my speakers I get nothing. They are Boston Acoustics model BA5700G. They are pretty old but still work great with my other card. Its a 4 speaker setup with a sub. I already tried plugging in a crappy 2 speaker setup and it worked just fine. Any ideas or help would really be great.

    Mascorona,
I suspect that your Boston Acoustics are digital speakers. Unfortunately the Audigy 2 NX does not have a digital DIN connector that these speakers can use. Your best solution would probably be to use this as an opportunity to upgrade your speakers to 5. or 7..
I would highly recommend one of these sets of speakers:

  • Home Theatre

I would like to build a home theatre system centered around a desktop. My questions are?
    Speakers 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1
Best home theatre sound card to match the above choice?
Does my computer or the sound card have a decoder for dvd movies or do I have to buy something like the extigy or DDTS-100?
What other goodies do I need?
What other goodies can I add?
I look forward to your replies!

A card like the Audigy 2 ZS can decode sound from DVDs, and output this to analog speakers like the Inspire T5400, T7700, etc. The DDTS-100 can be used independently as it's a decoder box, so this could be used seperate from the PC.

  • WVC54GCA Cam blinkling - no way to stop

My WVC54GCA has stopped working after I erroneously changed the Security setting (from WPA/WPA2 to none). now the camera led is blinking, the setup wizard cannt find the camera and the reset button has no effect. I have also tried to connect it to the modem (Alice box in France) by ethernet but does not work either.
I just cannot have my camera online anymore and access it by any mean.
    Any idea someone?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

are you using the original power adapter for the device? a blinking powerlight may sometimes indicate that the device is not getting enough power supply.
if you've properly reset the device, and still not getting it to respond in any way, it may already be bricked.

  • Dynamic Mode on the DDTS-100

I have a set of Gigaworks S700 plugged into my DDTS-00 hooked up to my DVD player via Coax and man does it sound great. My question is about Dynamic Mode, it is very vague to what it does and it also lists something optional for it etc...what is optional for dynamic mode? How does it work...how do you know if its on or off? Any info on this will help. Not very much info on the site or in the manual. And if I send a email to support it usually doesnt get anwsered...or they dont know what it is either.

Dynamic is the default. Notice this: When you press the Dynamic mode button on the remote, all of the LED's on the decoder's volume button will flash, press it again and only 4 of the volume buttons LED's will flash - this is how you tell the difference. All LED's = uncompressed/loud and 4 LED's = compressed/quiet (default). Apart from that, I should also mention that your own ears should tell you the difference (uncompressed, the default mode, is less loud). Well, I say less loud, but what in fact it does is minimise or ballance the difference between Dolby Digital or DTS's encoded loud and quiet sounds. Ballancing them so say at night for example, when peeps are sleeping nearby, you will hear the 'quiets' and the 'louds' without the major jumps between the two.
I would like to add, the difference that dynamic mode does is very much less than my old Inspire 5500 decoder/speaker set-up. When I pressed it on that system, the sound cut-out for one second and then came back in in the uncompressed state. The difference was MASSIVE. It's still fairly noticeable on DDTS-100 though.
Unless it's late and you don't want to wake other people, I suggest you get into the habit of pressing this each time you turn the decoder on. This way you will get the full whack of Dolby Digital/DTS's encoding - with the big booms and subtle background sounds heard as they were intended to be heard. Also check your DVD player's settings for a similar mode, I found that on mine the default was compressed, like the DDTS-100 is, after a year of owning this player, I suddenly found this setting, changed it.... and bejeezus it is better. :smileytongue:
