GL Balances migration

Hi All,
I am working on GL Balance migration. It is a migration from SAP 4.5B to SAP ECC 6.0
In LSMW different methods can be used to upload data. Among the below mentioned methods what is the best method for GL Balance migration?
1.Direct Input Method
2.IDoc
3.BAPI
4.Batch Input
Please let me know how to determine which is the best method.
Also please let me know the Standard program name/Message Type/Bapi name/Transaction code with respect to Direct input/Idoc/Bapi/Batch Input
Regards,
Subathra

Best method depends on the size of the data & requirements.
If the data file is going to be simple , and if u think u can load the data using direct input method, u can go for the same.
Tables
SKA1 .. Chart of Account.
SKB1 .. Company code data.
Batch Input
Tcode: FS00
Standard object:   you can for this one - GL master data
Read the documentation of program RFBISA00
Object 0010 GL A/C Master Record
Method 0001 Hier. structure
Program Name RFBISA00
Program Type B Batch Input
IDOC method
message : ACC_GL_POSTING
message : ACC_GL_POSTING_REVERSE  for reversal of GL
IDOC method is used when we have large data to be migrated . Monitoring and reprocessing could be easy in IDOC method.
SAP provides standard programs and function module to extract and transfer the FI data.
In addition, you only need to setup the ALE and IDoc configuration. IDoc has excellent error handing and has capability to reprocess an error (if any). With batch input program, you need to process the whole input file or you need to recreate the file with error information.
BAPI
Business object : BUS6030
method : POST
Also check out the BAPI  BAPI_ACC_GL_POSTING_POST

  • How to do Balance Migration

    Hi All,
We have a balance called "Personal Loan Payments" with dimension "Element Entry Inception To Date" which is being feed by element "Personal Loan Payment" through input Value "Pay value". I want to initialize or update the amount of this balance to 5000 for an employee 12345. Could you please let m eknow the steps to achieve this though backend or frontend.
    Thanks,
    Avinash

    Hi Sajid,
You need to go through your FF code and amend it accordingly to meet the requirement or bypass for one month (balance migration month).
I hard coded the ENTRY_START_DATE to '01-07-2012' to avoid execution of some line in first month of balance migration.
If your problem is something else, will suggest to raise new thred for better response.
    Thanks,
    Avinash

  • Company Code account balance migration

We have a merger between 2 company codes (moving from one co code to another).
We have several balances on accounts in company code A which we want to push into company code B. Can you suggest if IC doc type is the best way to complete this?
We do not have in SAP a document type for mergers, therefore a suggestion was to use this doc type and enter text field MERGER Document etc.

    Hi,
I have done many mergers in different ways and the only problem with intercompany is that you will create an intercompany between the merged company and the merge 2 company.  If the company you are merging from has subledger balances, this is the best approach i have found:
reverse out all open items in old company against a migration account for AP and AR with the exception of FA in document currency.  FA can be transfferred within FA but will create a G/L account balance on old company.  After this process is done than extract the balances left and make an entry for each account to zero the balance out, netting this against the migration account.
The new company:  First decide if you want open items or only account balances.  If your moving open items, post them all on new company with the exception of FA.  You will follow the same steps as above except you post the GL open items versus just the balance.
Best of luck.  Mergers are fun!
Oh yeah, when you make the entries on the new company code, if you are posting to an already existing account that has balances, you might want to add the old company code to a line item field so you can easily tell what items are from what company.

  • SO Opening Balances Migration - Implementation

    Hi Gurus,
I am in migration of pen sales order / Open Purchase Orders from legacy system to Oracle system.
Cut-off date they provided open SO/POs.
    Please clarify below doubts:
    1. Few line are shipped partially, how to enter partially shipped sales order. SO Line for Qty 100 pcs, shipped 75, pending 25 pcs. which one need to enter in system?
    2. Few lines are customer requested cancellation, is it to cancel from excel template before migrating or need to cancel from legacy system?
    3. Few line price has been changed on agreed date, while migrating selling price more? Ex: SO req date 1 Jan 13 Item A Selling price $5, while migrating open SO price is changed to $9. Is it possible to change before 4. migration into system
    4. Few lines partially shipped with old price, pending lines to be shipped with high price?
    5. Few lines customer requested more Quantity with Same PO?
    6. Few lines are shipped but not created Invoice in system?
    7. Few orders are cancelled by customer?
Customer provide Open SO/POs as well as provided above modifications SO/POs, how to handle before migration.
Highly appreciate if you provide clarification and any useful document on this scenarios.
    Regards
    AK

    Hi AK,
I guess you need to cancel all the pending transactions in the legacy systems.
its difficult to handle these types of transactions.
Try to create all new transactions in Oracle with the pending Qty.
I will still try to find out some alternates from MOS and will update you if I find any.
    Thanks

  • Company Code (Fusion) Asset Accounting Legacy Migration

    Hi SAP Experts
We are going to initiate a project where a company code Y will be fusionated to a company code X
Therefore only company code X will prevail at the end on the month.
This migration is made within the fiscal year (april 2015) with a calenda K4 (january to december)
Some balance migration is planned, however we have the following scenario:
Company code X has asset accounting component working since 2006
Company code Y does not have asset accounting component within SAP, posting are made directly to SAP (and depretiation calculation posting are made outside SAP)
We are planning to "transfer the values" from company code Y -> to the asset acccounting component from company code X
Due theese assets are not "new assets" but "legacy asset" how it should be the right steps?
We have identified two options so far:
    a) As a "legacy transfer", (AS91) transaction (create legacy data)
Some SAP documentation refers to take care about the timing to made this; in our case is within the fiscal year
Also a "data transfer date" or "take over date" must be defined on table V_T093C_08 in order to identify a value date for the legacy transfer
IMG > Asset Accounting > Asset Data Transfer > Parameteres for Data Transfer > Date Specification
There are several prerequisites such as company code status allowed for data transfer, set the above date for data transfer and I think also set a period where the legacy company code finish their posting.
We suspect this is the second or third time the company code X has transfer legacy data.
Do you have experience managing this option within SAP?
    What issues must be considered
We do not want to impact the existing fixed assets values and previous asset transfers values with our new asset transfer within the fiscal year.
    b) As a "acquisition without a vendor" ABZON
I think this option does not required so much customizing, usign this option I think I should put the last value for the legacy asset accounting and set the initiation date for the new depretiation posting accordingly.
I suspect the disadvantage here is do not have a historical data, however may these is the secure path.
I notice using ABZON transaction I need to set an account determination call "Contra account: Acquisition value" that is defined on table V_T095_MASTER or customizing transaction AO90
For this option we are guessing which type account must be.
I think it should be a balance account (due no vendor is implied) however we are not sure about this point
Many thanks for your inputs and ideas
    Fernando Luna

    Hi Fernando Luna
For my perception, option 1 makes sense because you may need to check historical values as well as depreciation posted in legacy system. As you highlighted, the key point to use AS91 to take over legacy assets are below customizing:
IMG: Asset Accounting -> Asset Data Transfer -> Parameters for Data Transfer -> Date Specifications ->
=> Specify Transfer Date/Last Closed Fiscal Year
=> Specify Last Period Posted in Prv.System (Transf.During FY)
Above setting affecting legacy take-over only, it wouldn't affect existing asset including previous taken-over legacy assets. After finishing legacy asset migration, you may need to execute depreciation recalculation at company code level.
    Hope this information is helpful.

    George

  • In which table the initial balances will be stored when loading via api

    Hi all,
I am doing initial balances migration...
In which table the initial balances will be stored when loading though an api.. (pay_balance_upload.process).
First I have loaded data in to pay_balance_batch_headers and pay_balance_batch_lines tables..
Then called the api pay_balance_upload.process. and the data was reflecting correctly in front end.
But we need to reconcile the loaded data.. for that, can anyone please tell me in which the loaded balances would be stored..
I have identified two tables, pay_assignment_latest_balances
    and pay_latest_balances
when I try to create a balance from frontend I can see the data in pay_latest_balances table..
But when I load via api I am not able to find it in any of these tables..
In addition to that can anyone please tell me when the data will be populated in pay_assignment_latest_balances and pay_latest_balances tables.
Awaiting for your help and quick response..
    Thanks and Regards
    Kishore

You have followed the correct process..As Vignesh said, you can use pay_balance_pkg.get_value to make sure you have the correct values uploaded but otherwise if you are able to see the values in the front end I wouldn't worry about the latest balances tables. These tables, as the name indicate, hold only the latest values and if a payroll (ran post the initial balance upload) has been rolled back, these are deleted since they are no longer available.
You can refer the below Metalink notes for a detailed explanation:

  • Customer Balance Covnersion

How do we do conversion of customer deposits. In the functional spec what document type we need to provide to bring in the deposits. I dont see any document type for down payment. Do we use transaction code F-29 in place of F-22 or FB01 to bring in deposits from legacy to sap. In this case can we use the same offsett account for customer balance conversion that we are using for customer open invoices??
    Thanks
    Lakshmi

    Ashish,
So you mean to say that we create only one customer balance migration account and it can be used for both customer open invoices as well as deposits. Is my understanding correct?
Also Ashish can you please tell me when I am transporting chart of accoutns from one client to another vis OBY9, only the accounts created in chart of accounts are transported and not the company codes accounts. What is the way of transporting them so that they get transported in COA as well as Co. Code.
    Thanks

  • GL Migration

    Hi All
when we are doing GL balance migration by period in the current year , Do we need to consider any foreign currency transactions or Can we direcly post every thing in company code currency?...In some GL accounts My business have transaction in foreign currencies, does that create any issues (As I am converting everything in local currency) going forward?
Please throw some light on this area.
    Thanks

    Hi Steve,
Foreign currency transactions you have to consider from following two angles-
    1. Realised foreign exchange- In this case check wthether any profit or loss has been accounted . If yes then no need to update the transaction in foriegn currency. For eg rent provision made and paid before golive.
    2. Unrealised o incomplete transactions- In this case you have to upload all the relevant transactions in foreign currency as the loss or gain has to be calculated on the date of realisation of FE or for the purpoase of balance sheet valuation.

  • DATA Migration Strategy of Inventory from one SAP system to another

    Hi,
We are migrating data from one sap system to another due to business split . I would like to know what are the considerations, dos and donts for inventory/stock balance  migration.

  • Migrate data to the GLT0 to FAGLFLEXT

We are preparing to upgrade from SAP 4.6c to SAP 6.0 (ERP2005), but we dont´t have so cleare how to migrate to the new ledger (from table GLT0 to FAGLFLEXT).
We made some esenaries and these ones are:
    1. A company code has been executing a technical upgrade to 4.6c to 6.00 this process will be finished on September 30. His commercial period is January 1 to December 31 of 2007; the final closure of fiscal year will accomplished on January 15, 2008. Can I activate New G/L on date October 1, 2008?
This costumer doesn’t have special ledger and parallel ledgers.
    2. We made an exercise an activated New G/L inside an upgrade process, the balance of the already tabulated are registered in the classic ledger (GLT0) and the new operations are registered in the new ledger (FAGLFLEXT). <b>How can I translate the balance (migrate data to the structure) to the GLT0 to FAGLFLEXT?</b>
Please, anyone could help me whith this or email me information to this email
    [email protected]
    Thanks in advance.
    Ariel

It could depend on whether you want to use Document splitting or not.
If you intend to use <b>document splitting</b> in the new General Ledger, activate the function for validating the document splitting in your productive system before the migration date. This means that you should upgrade to ECC 6.0 in one fiscal year, activate document split validation before the end of that fiscal year and <b>migrate to the new General Ledger in the next fiscal year.</b>
If you <b>do not plan to use document splitting</b> in the new General Ledger, you can upgrade to ECC5.0 or ECC6.0 and <b>migrate to the new General Ledger in the same fiscal year.</b>

  • AA migration

    Hi gurus:
I have a problem of Asset balance migration.  The take-over date is set as 2009-05-31. Through AS91, I entered the original value by 2008, accumulated depreciation by 2008, and depreciation posted from Jan. to May in 2009. However, when I query the asset balance of 2008 in the standard report of "asset balance", the system prompted that no data in 2008.
I have entered the aseet value of 2008, but why cannot find it in the report?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi Mark:
I have tried to align the date of GL and AA, The take-over date are set as 2008-12-31. And run depreciation in SAP from Jan. 2009 to May. 2009. Depreciation is OK. Now my question is:
After I entered asset in AS91. I still cannot find the asset data in S_ALR_87011963 setting reporting date as 2008-12-31. I don't know whether SAP cannot do it or I have a wrong configuration.
Could you please help me out? Thank you very much!

  • Running Manual Reconcillation

    Hi All
Am running first time Manual Reconciliation for my client, please advise me and what all fields need to take care and how the transactions takes place.
i have one more doubt.. the user already posted this entry, before clearing the vendor line item.
Bank out going Clearing acc     Dr
          To Main Bank Acc
now vendor balance migrated and he is clearing the vendor open items
please advise whether it is correct or not.

Normally Assignment, Bank Ref and optionally Business Area fields are considered along with the amount.  The config is done at the following path :
IMG -> FA -> Bank Accounting -> Business Transactions -> Payment Transactions -> Manual Bank Statement
You can search google if you want any config doc.
Reg. your doubt, the entry you have mentioned is normally posted out of BRS run.  But you should have no problem clearing your Vendor open items.
    Ravi.

  • How to reverse the Depreciation for the excess amount posted?

    Hi Gurus,
We have uploaded the data last month from legacy system to SAP as below.
The Fiscal year is Jan - Dec and gone live on June 28th 2009.
Accumulated Depreciation was taken till Dec 2008.
Ordinary Depreciation was taken from Jan 2009 to June 2009.
But Ordinary depreciation is not up to date in SAP as the user miss out the 2 months depreciation for each Asset but this was already posted in legacy system. All the GL Balances have been uploaded as per the legacy system. Now system is taking the previous 2 months Depreciation along with the current month. If we run the Depreciation for the current month, the system will post excess amount as it includes previous 2 months Depreciation.
Can any one kindly suggest the process to reverse the excess amount after Depreciation posted for the current month?
    Thanks much for the help.
    Early responses will be appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    JBC

    HI
    Few clarifications-
    1. you have posted two months dep in legacy , have you transferred that dep amount wth the ordinary dep transferred from jan to june?
If yes, that means your last posted dep month is june and accordingly you have to set the last period (6) in the SPRO for asset data transfer specifications, so system will start calculating dep from the 7th period only and will not recalculate dep for last two months.Check the last posted period mentioned in SPRO.
2.If you have uploaded wrongly your ordinary dep for current year , then that means your Asset accounting opening balance (migrated balance ) is not matching with your Trial GL upload as well, so you need to correct your asset accounting opening balances.
For this you need to reset your company code status from 0 to blank ( tset data always allowed for asset data transfer). And then correct the values for current year ordinary dep posted from jan to june, also check the last posted dep period as above.
3.However you may post writeup ttype 700 to adjust the excess dep posted by any reason, you can extract last two months dep posted values asset wise from legacy system if already posted, and post the writeups for the same value in current period using LSMW.
    Cheers

  • Migrating open POs and GR/IR clearing account balance

    Hello gurus,
I've got the following problem concerning migration of open POs:
For example: In my source system there is a PO for 10 pcs. of some material. There has been a goods receipt for 5 pcs. (200$ each).
Now, when I import this order and the corresponding purchase order history into my target system (using LSMW), the target system creates the order, a material document for 5 pcs. and an account document.
But of course, our FI-team also has to migrate the balance of the 'old' GR/IR clearing account.
So, the balance in the source system is <> 0 (e.g. 1000$), because the 5 pcs. have been delivered but there has been no invoice receipt yet.
This balance is imported into the new system and then the open orders are migrated, generating an account document and thus, the balance is 2000$ afterwards.
This obviously is not correct, so I am sure that I am missing something, just what?
    Thanks
    Alicia

    Hi,
    1. There will be an open PO uploaded for 5 qty and price 200$ each
    2. Opening Balance of Material - 5 qty and corresponding value to Stock A/c - 1000$
    3. Also there will be Vendor Balances uploaded in the system as 1000$ against the invoice. (If the invoice is still expected then chec with FI Users if they can get invoice form vendor)
if no then do not upload initial stock entry of step2, create a PO of 10 qty and then do GR in system (SAP).

  • Migration of balances for new ledger using the New GL

    Hi everyone,
I have a specific scenario into this customer where we have implemented the SAP version ECC6.0 with the table FAGLFLEXT is active and using just one ledger (0L - standard). We need to create a new ledger for IFRS (e.g: 1L), as the customer didn´t use the splitting document functionality, it was not purchased the migration services.
Now I need to upload the balances in the accounts into new ledger, I understand that for general accounts there is no problem because I can use the transaction FB01L and specifying the new ledger (1L).
My doubt is : How can I to do the upload balances for open items into the AP and AR accounts?
    Anybody can help me?
    Thanks
    Ricardo Gomes

You are right.  I just realized that and came back to update my response.  Please see the following note.
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1070629
I see a standard program delivered for that purpose in the note above.
    FAGL_MIG_SUBSEQ_POST
Again, please go through the note.  There is a lot of information on data transfer (and other FAQs) for new non-leading ledgers.
