GL configuration on DAC

Hi,
we are using source system is Oracle EBS 11.5.10 and
BI Application 7.9.4.
We have license only on GL and Profitability area. and we needs to configure ETL load for only GL and Profitability.
In DAC there is seeded execution plan called Financials_Oralce 11.5.10.
But that is included all Financial subject area (GL , COGS, AR, AP and Revenue).
Can you please guide us that how to configure ETL load for only on GL & Profitability in DAC.
and Please confirms us what are the CSV files or any configuration files needs to be configure for GL and Profitability load.
if possible then send us document which is help us to configure GL & Profitability load.
We have tried to find out from OBI Application and configuration guide. but we haven't found concrete solution from guide.

You will need to create a new Execution Plan in Custom Container to load only GL and Profitability (which I think is Revenue, but I am not sure).
The EP for Financials_Oracle 11.5.10 contains these subject areas:
Financials - Cost of Goods Sold
Financials - General Ledger
Financials - Payables
Financials - Receivables
Financials - Revenue
For your new one only used GL and Revenue.
Make sure you update your parameters and build your ordered tasks.

I am trying to set up Email Configuration in DAC.
step 1. DAC > SETUP> Email Recipients - Provide all the necessary information.
step 2. Tools > Dac Server Management > Dac Server Setup > Email Configuration and also DB connection information.
Now my question do we need to create any "Email Task" as a additional one in the Execution plan or by default if we set the Email configuration will DAC send the notifications?

You can check the DAC documentation from Oracle. There is a section on Email configuration and what emails are sent for each notification level:
Notification Level
The notification levels are as follows:

Notifies recipient of success or failure of each task.

Notifies recipient of success of failure of the entire ETL process.

Notifies recipient that ETL completed successfully.

Hello,
There is an issue java (IBM Java) running on the AIX. Basically pmrep and pmcmd commands are being called in by referencing PATH variables, when trying to connect from DAC client, the variable is overwritten by the Java running on the AIX box. We have resolved similar issue on the past.
I will update later what I have done to resolve it

DAC Configuration Tags - Include Tasks option

Question
I am configuring the DAC (10.1.3.4.1) for our install and I want to enable Multiple Calendar Support and Enable Project Dimensions in the DAC. After the install several of the Subject Areas already include one or both of these Configuration Tags. My question is whether the Include Taks checkbox is required to be checked. If so, then I have a problem as this checkbox is not active (unable to be checked). Can someone please explain to me the reason behind this?
As a sub-question in relation to the Integration between Projects and Financial Analytics. From the Oracle documentation Oracle Business Intelligence Applications
Configuration Guide for Informatica PowerCenter Users Version 7.9.6 (E14216-01) section 5.3.2.10 How to Enable Project Analytics Integration with Financial Subject Areas states that:
You can configure the following Oracle Financial Analytics for EBS subject areas to use Project Analytics for EBS tables:
    • Financials - Budget
    • Financials - Payables
    • Financials - Receivables
    • Financials - Cost of Goods Sold
    • Financials - General Ledger
    • Financials - RevenueIn my install all but two of these Subject Areas (Financials - Budget and Financials - General Ledger) already have the Enable Project Dimensions Configuration Tag added (albiet set at Inactive). I'm assuming that all the listed Financials Subject Areas require this Configuration Tag to exist and not have the Inactive checkbox checked.

BIA 7.9.6.1 Unable to connect to Informatica services from DAC

As a learning exercise, I have installed the following on a single Windows XP machine (Am aware that Windows XP is not supported for Informatica Service install - but currently have access to only this machine)
- OBIA 7.9.6.1
- Informatica 8.6.1 client & services with hotfix 6
- DAC client & server
I have created the Repository and Integration services in Informatica PowerCenter and are running in normal mode
I have configured the DAC as per installation document. I am now trying to configure the DAC Integration Settings for informatica.
I am unable to register an Integration service or a repository service and get the following errors,
On testing the Integration Service registration

HI All,
I fixed the first part of the issue. Now I am able to connect top the Integration Service. I created system environment variable INFA_DOMAINS_FILE and included the BIN path in PATH variable.
However unable to connect to the Informatica Repository service. I am getting the follwoing error

BI Apps - Financial Analytics (DB connection DAC and Informatica Designer)

Hi all,
With correct Physical data sources configured in DAC including production JDE database (Oracle) and Datawarehouse, the ETL process can be finished in DAC without error. However, the datawarehouse tables do not contain any records after the ETL.
Thus I open the Informatica Client - Workflow Designer, and go to menu Connections -> Relational. I found that the user name supplied for JDE data source is DEV user, not the production user. Is it the cause that ETL executed in DAC cannot populate records to datawarehouse tables?
Is there relationshiop between settings in DAC and Informatica Workflow Manager even though correct configuration is done in DAC?

Error in starting DAC in DAC11g

Hi All,
I have just installed DAC11g in my windows 7 Client. I have configured the DAC client and once i start the dac server from the command line using the startserver.bat file i am getting the following error.
Error: no 'server' JVM at 'C:\OBIA\ORACLE_DAC\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll'.
I can see that in the DAC installation folder there is no server sub folder at all...
The installation was successful could some one let me know how i can resolve this ?

Check your config.bat file to validate all variables
and also make sure you got valid folder path specific to this variable

Decision making in DAC

Hi All,
I need help to implement below condition in DAC.
I have couple of custom mappings which i have configured in DAC with separate "Source system container". It works fine.
Now i need to add one more condition, based on which load in DAC will continue.
- Our source is OBIEE tables (Finance related). We are beringing data from GL BALANCE FACT table. We have 2 ledgers: USA and CANADA
- This job runs once in a month.
- The condition is, the DAC execution plan will run once in a month (i.e. 10th of every month) to load data of previous month. For example, if DAC executuion plan will run on 02/10/2013, which will extract data for January-2013 for both books (USA and CANADA).
- To extract data for both books, it should first check whether that book is closed or not.
- If both books are not closed, terminate the execution of DAC and send mail to concern team
- If any one of the book is closed, continue extract and load for the book which is closed and send mail to concern team for the book is not closed.
- If both books are open, continue extract and load.
- To check whether books are closed or not, client is maintaining one table.
Now i am planning to write a Shell script, which will run as first task in DAC.
Is there any way to achieve same through DAC?

Since you are going to write a Shell script; I would suggest thats the best option to validate the data, notify thru email and start load.
Sending emails based on data validations thru dac is complex one, if you are not going with a Shell script you might have to use ibot/agents to do the same with data load irrespective of data validation.
I vote for a Shell script :)

Configuring Oracle E-Biz 11.5.10 and R12 adaptors on same OOB warehouse.

We have Oracle BI Applications 7.9.6.1 implemented for Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10 Applications and running in Production,
there is a plan to configure the same for Oracle E-Business Suite R12 in coming days.
We appreciate any help on below queries.
1.     What is the best approach to configure R12 container in DAC/Informatica.
2.     Since we will be running 2 DAC execution[EP for 11.5.10 & EP for R12] Plans to populate the same warehouse tables, and full load for R12 is must here. Do we need to take care of any other setups as we are loading data from 2 ERP sources.
3.     Since warehouse is populated with 11.5.10 data, How the refresh dates for warehouse tables impact initial DAC full load /Incremental R12 loads.
4.     As we have few informatica customization in our 11.5.10 implementation, and we have retain those for R12, is there any way to leverage the existing customization.

While configuring the DAC server for 11.5.10 ,as mentioned below , we missed to select R12 application(highlighted below), so the R12 container is not visible in DAC.
how to go about to configure R12 container here , if we update the DAC backend table will help us.

Point 3. In the Applications List table, use the check boxes in the Selected column to specify the source system applications for which you will import the ETL
metadata, as follows:
a. Select the check box next to Universal.To avoid possible ETL errors in other applications (for example, missing tasks), you must import the Universal application.
b. Select the check box for any other business applications that you want to deploy._
Tip: Make a note of the Application names that you select. When you create data warehouse tables later in the configuration process,you might need to type in the names exactly as they are displayed here (for more information, see Section 4.12.1, "Creating Data Warehouse Tables").

OBIEE 11g, Informatica and DAC: Migrating from Oracle DB to SQL Server?

Currently we are implementing OBIEE 11g with Oracle BI Application for EBS (Supply Chain, Procurement & Finance modules). We have incorporated all OUT-OF-THE-BOX mappings and configurations in DAC, Informatica and RPD (no change, only OOTB). We were using Oracle DB and Linux servers.
Now the client wants to migrate this to one Windows box.
Can anyone point out, what are the changes need to done to migrate to SQL Server database. Any existing documentation or link will be helpful.

If you are using SQL Server 2008 then you need to edit the DAC config.bat file replace sqljdbc.jar with sqljdbc4.jar.
Rest of DAC and Informatica configuration is almost similar.

DAC email notification not working.even if we get test mail.

DAC clients are installed in Windows machine (Remote) and DAC servers are installed on UNIX platform.
I have set up the smtp configuration in DAC client.i am also getting test mail.
But after my schedule load completion i am not getting email notification.

After configured and restart DAC server, the DAC server couldn't be shutdown.

No..There can be n number of failed EP in in run history.It will not be an problem..I am sorry I don't know how to run from command prompt.
you says you cant communicate to DAC server from client ,and now you says you cant shutdown also..I am bit confused here
Can you paste the logs from DAC server from server?.
Can you try restarting machine?.
Can you also kill Java process which runs for DAC?..

Not able to connect DAC client after first time

Hi ,
I am installing OBI apps 7.9.6.2 . While configuring DAC , I was able to login to DAC client
with Administrator/Administrator ( given by oracle) for the first time and started exporting the metadata .
Unfortunately my machine got shut off in between the process .
Now after re-starting my machine , I am not able to logon to DAC with the same UserID / password .
Error : "Can't Authenticate user"
Since I can not logon , I can not create any other user too ,
I have tried creating a new authentication file too .
Please let me know if I am missing anything .
Please help em on this , I need to install OBI Apps 7.9.6.2 on a urgent basis

I restarted infa services , DAC server is still not started ( I am following steps as in install guide)
and tried to re-log and configure .
No luck .
client is able to connect to database , since test connection with DAC repository schema is working ,
but it is not finding the user in repository database .
I am thinking droping the repository schema and re-create so that during configuration of DAC repository is created again .
please let me know your suggestion .

Registering Informatica service in DAC client Fails

we are configuring BI-application with Oracle11.5.10.
we are successful in installing all the components.
But we are stuck in registering Informatica service in DAC client (section 4.12.2 in install guide)
we gave the setting details as below
Name -->PowercentreBIREPO_Integration_service (this is our informatica integration service name )
Type -->Informatica
ServerHostname--> <IP Address>
ServerPort--> 4006
Login ---> Administrator
Password ---> <pwd>
Maximum session -->default 10
Repository Name -->Oracle_BI_DW_Base
Inactive
when we tested the connection we get "failure connection to Integration service name " STD output error Output
Also in the Dac Client we can see the DAC serve Status icon not in green Color, DAC server is in Idle mode only
please let us know how to resolve it..

I am configuring the DAC Server Communication with Informatica PowerCenter, I have configured the the Imformatica connection (the test works). The Repository connection does not work.
These are the settings:

DAC - no connection to DAC server

Our Environment Details:
Dac Build AN 10.1.3.4.1.patch.20091011.0443
Informatica 8.1.1.SP5
OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1
Siebel 7.8.2.7
SUN OS 5.10 Generic_141414-10 sun4u sparc
OLTP/Informatica/DAC repository on Oracle 10g
OLAP : Teradata
Sporadically , 3 times in last month, our everyday “nightly ETL” job in Production is failing . After logging in to DAC client, I am seeing "no connection to DAC server" . DAC server service is up and running. We have to restart DAC server to bring it up.It is processing some tasks before it hung.
Our schedulers (TWI) are not able to recognize that dac is stopped processing as their tasks as still showing running and DAC server is up and running too. There is no log specified even though it in SEVERE log level.
I checked with network errors, dacout.log but no log specified. I do not know why it is loosing the connection ?
Informatica servers are not affected with this. They are up and running. But as a safe side, I am restarting them along with dac where ever this happens.
Couple of months back , we had an issue with informatica where it was also losing the connection to the repository and we did restart manually.
What we did to fix was we added the following to the infaservice.sh (informatica startup script) and it did not loose the connection after that.
LD_PRELOAD_64=/usr/lib/sparcv9/libumem.so:${LD_PRELOAD_64}
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH LD_PRELOAD_64
My question is:
Is it advisable to add this 64 bit LB_LIBRARY path to dac startup also ? Does it help with securing the connection ?
As we can not reproduce this issue, are there any tools/scripts/documents where we can use to trace the issue ?

Hi,
We're experiencing the same issue (and have been for over a year now); occasionally after an incremental run the DAC server proces (Qserver proces) stops accepting client connections.
In the DAC client the 'electrical plug' remains red.
No mention at all of this is made in the server-side logging. (nor on the client side for that matter)

Additional info:
Netcat shows that port 3141 is accepting connections, it just seems that the Qserver proces isn't handling them properly.
Having no mention at all of any problems in the logs makes this problem hard to trace.
Any help in solving this issue would be much appreciated.
