How to set Lens correction in LR3
Hi,
I am sure this has been answered before but I can't find any answers in LR Help, here or google.
Is there a way of setting the "Lens correction" in LR3 to be on by default? as it is now I have to se tit for each image.
thanks
Chris
You can do this by updating the 'Develop Default Settings.'
1) Open an image in the Develop module and hit the 'Reset' button in the right bottom control panel.
This is your 'Current Default Setting'
2) Go to Lens Corrections and check the 'Enable Profile Corrections' box. If necessary select 'Make' so the lens appears.
3) Go the toolbar (top of screen) Develop> Set Default Settings> Click on Update To Current Settings.
You will need to do this for each camera model you are using in LR.
You can update pictures currently in LR using Develop Settings 'Copy' & 'Paste' or 'Sync.' Select only 'Lens Profile Corrections' in the 'Synchronize Settings' options popup. Keep in mind this will overwrite previously adjusted images with the 100 default 'Amounts.'
You can also modify the 'Lens Corrections' Profile defaults separately for each lens by making the changes and clicking the 'Setup' up/down arrows and selecteing 'Save new lens profile defaults.'

How to Set Lens Profiles on a tone mapped HDR
I'm trying to work out the optimal workflow for doing HDR (using HDR EFEX 2) on a set of images.
I can apply LR's Lens Correction (Nikon, 17-55mm F2,8) and chromatic aberation removal on the whole set set (using LR Sync) before I export to HDR - then turn off the Chromatic Aberation fix in HDR - and that gives me one workflow.
However, that makes a lot of changes to the TIF's before I go in - so I am wondering if it would be better to export the RAW files converted to TIF using minimal changes from LR e,g, no CA fix or Lens Profile correction; let the HDR do its thing and then make profile corrections, Upright, etc upon return from HDR. However, when I get back from HDR and go into Develop with the returned file and go to Lens Correction, I cannot chose the 17-55mm F2.8 lens from the drop downs. There are only about 4 or 5 lenses now showing as Nikon possibilities-and the 17-55 is NOT among them.
How come I don't still see the full list of Nikon profiles - shoudln't I be able to apply any profile to a TIF (even an incorrect one) ?
I tried pasting the Develop Settings from a virtual copy where I had set the Lens Profile to 17-55 F2.8 - but that only turns on the Lens Profile 'filter' and does not actually force-on the specific correction.
Any thoughts ?
JCSince lens profiles are format-specific, is that the source of your problem?

Where do I get Lens Profile for lens correction in LR3
I have LR3 and need help figuring something out. I mainly shoot with a Tamron 24-70mm. LR3 doesn't list this lens under the lens correction so I can't correct any of the lens distortion. Anyone know where/how I can locate/install this profile? Do I get this from Adobe, Tamron, etc?
There are three Tamron 24-70 lens profiles, but all were added to the LR 4.x series:
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/lens-profile-support-lightroom-4.html
So the obvious solution is to upgrade your LR to 5.x for $80, or sign up for PS-CC+LR5 bundle at $10/month (for a limited time).
A more complicated way to get these profiles is to install the latest DNG Converter which includes all lens profiles, then copy the lens profiles you need over to the third-party lens profile under your Users folder and LR 3 should pick them up, assuming that folder hasn’t changed places between LR3 and LR5.
I am not a Mac person, but on Windows, the DNG Converter installed profiles would be under:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Tamron
And the place to put them is:
C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\downloaded
AppData is a hidden folder so you just have to type it into the Explore address area and hit Enter or turn on hidden folders in Explorer or type %APPDATA% in Explorer and hit Enter will get you down to the Roaming folder.
You can find the latest DNG Converter at: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates -
How to apply lens correction profile to multiple images at once?
I have a quick newbie question and I couldn't find an answer in a brief search that I did. Is it possible to apply lens correction profile automatically to multiple images at once? For my RAW images, LR automatically detects the lens and applies the correction profile for an image if I manually click on "Enable lens correction" option under Develop module (in the right pane where adjustments are made). However, I would like to do this to multiple images all at once.
Thanks,
OshoBe careful using develop setting synchronization for lens profile across mutiple images! This allows applying an incorrect profile (i.e. Canon 17-40mm profile with synchronization to images shot with multiple lenses) First use the 'filter' tool to make sure you select images shot with only one (1) lens type. Then follow one of the procedures here:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom/3.0/Using/WS0E6E6886-E223-4050-B6E0-A97B5B62EF7D.htm l
You can also change the "default" develop settings with 'Lens Profile' option checked and then save as the "new default" setting. LR will then "automatically" apply lens profile correction on import of new images. -
Batch processing lens correction in LR3
Hi folks,
my questions today are best practise questions:
First:
What is the best way to apply the auto lens correction to already imported images in LR3?
Second:
Is it possibe to do auto lens correction during the import process?
Thanx for your support
JK1. Select desired images, go to Develop, and click the "Enable Profile Corrections" checkbox in the Lens Corrections panel.
Note that you will need Auto Sync enabled for this to work. In Develop, on the right panel, there is a "Sync..." button with a little switch to its left. If you click that switch, that will enable the Auto Sync feature, and the button will be renamed to show this.
2. Yes, make a preset. Namely, pick an image and turn on profile-based lens corrections (see previous step). Go to Develop menu and choose New Preset... In the ensuing dialog box, check the "Lens Corrections" box (and whichever other boxes you want to be included in the preset). When you import your images, select this as your Develop preset. This will cause lens corrections to be applied to all images that are imported. -
How to keep lens corrections when sending images to Photoshop?
I have a group of architectural photos shot in RAW format with a 10-20mm lens that I have applied lens corrections to in Lightroom 3. When I open them in Photoshop using Bridge, the lens corrections go away. I have had the same problem in using Photomatix Pro's batch processing mode to create HDR images. If I select the trio of images from the filmstrip in Lightroom, right-click on them and then export them to Photomatix, the lens corrections stay, but if I close Lightroom and use Photomatix Pro's batch processing mode to select and process the images, then the corrections go away. Any ideas?
Lens correction is a function of acr, and LR communicates such settings with PS CS5 and above. If you are on CS4, in order to keep them, LR must render them before sending on.
The same reason you can't do batch processing from Photomatix, they don't understand LR processing without the current ACR, which is only compatible with LR3 and PS5 (and, one assumes, higher). So when you export from LR, LR does the processing for you before sending on.. so you keep your changes.
Same if you have CS4 or lower, LR would do the rendering for you.
Does that make sense to you?
Cheers!

How to import lens corrections into Lightroom?
I have downloaded some lens corrections from the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader for lenses that didn't exist in my LR5. I do not know how to import these into LR5.
Hi Billy. See this page, which has instructions: Adobe Lightroom

Accuracy of Lens Correction in LR3 or 4
Hi! I recently bought my Fuji X10 und downloaded LR4 (beta). Im quite new to LR & RAW, but learning fast.
Since there is no LCP for the X10 available yet, I'm doing lens correction manually. But the manual correction is quite limited, especially for the 28mm wide angle distortion of the X10.
My efforts result in almost perfect horizontal & vertical lines in the center, but especially the horizontal lines spread towards the edge.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4978642/Bildschirmfoto%202012-01-21%20um%2014.37.01.png
Now I would like to know, if a later available LCP would correct this further and straighten all lines? Hoping not to need Photoshop to do the job.
THX for any comments.
Oliver
If you don't have a Dropbox Account, get one free here: http://db.tt/y1XYyIgManual lens correction model is limited and only account for lower order distortion terms. The distortion used in the LCP is more powerful and can account for higher order distortion terms. You can build your own custom lens profiles using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/lensprofile_creator.html. Or see if others have built and shared the same lens profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader.

Lens correction profiles LR3.4 Mac
I use a mac.
I shoot raw.
I created lens correction profiles for my camera and a few lenses. I uploaded them to Adobe. The lens corrections show up in Adobe Camera Raw but not in Lightroom. ACR "looks" for the .lcp files in the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Camera Raw/Lens Profiles/1.0
Where does Lightroom look for the .lcp files? Or does it use them a all? There is a large list of supported lenses in the dropdown menu, just not the ones I created.QUOTING: There is a second Lens Profiles Default folder as well.
Where is this elusive second folder? I put copies of the profile in the /Downloaded folder as wel, but Lightroom still doesn't see them. -
How to set the correct time scale of VI ?
I created a VI to display waveforms on the waveform graph. The problem is the time scale of the VI is always the year 1904.I tried to select absolute time in Property options of the waveform, but it remained the same. Can anybody help me with this? Thanks.

Your description doesn't give enough information to pinpoint the
problem, so I'll list off a few things that could be going on.
The graphs and charts accept many datatypes. If you are using the
waveform, display it on a regular waveform indicator and see what the
timestamp and deltaT are. If these are correct, then the graph should
be able to display things with no further changes except that you may
need to turn on X Scale Autoscaling so that it will zoom and shift to
show the plotted data. Charts will shift, but by default will not zoom
in, and it might make sense there sometimes too depending on the delta T
and amount of data plotted.
If the timestamp on the waveform is incorrect, then it is much easier to
construct the properly marked waveform than make the graph add to it to
label the waveform's time differently.
If you are not using the waveform, then you may be using a cluster of
X0, dX, and Y array wired to the graph. This is very similar to the
waveform, and again, it is better to add offsets to get the X0 to
display correctly on a numeric. You can extract this number or display
the cluster in an indicator, then format the numeric to display absolute
time.
If you are simply wiring the Y array, then LV will construct the X
values based upon the number of points beginning at 0 and incrementing
by one by default. When displayed as absolute time, this will default
to midnight Jan 1 2004 plus an offset based upon your timezone. In this
case, since there is no X information being piped into the graph, it is
better corrected by going to the graph properties for the X Scale and
setting the X Offset to the seconds between now and 1904. This is a
constant you can compute when your program starts up or you can use a
calculator, whichever is easier. You will also likely want to set the X
Multiplier to the deltaT between successive points. 0.001 for 1KHz, 1
for 1Hz, etc.
Finally, if these suggestions don't make sense or don't help, you might
want to explain more about what doesn't work.

How dramatic should lens correction be?
I've seen demos on line where the curved lines in very wide angle shots were pretty much straightened out. I made a LCP file for my Nikon D90 with the kit lens, and the auto-corrected images aren't dramatically different. Is that because there wasn't that much distortion to begin with? Seems like a lot of effort (creating the LCP file) for a subtle effect.
My wife also complained that my time would have been better spent weeding the garden, but that's another matter. ;-)
WillFrom your description, it sounds like you were viewing corrections of fisheye lenses.
For you lens, look for corrections of chromatic aberration at the corners -- red, blue, green, purpose fringing should be reduced. There may not be that much barrel or pincushion distortion. My $100 Canon Kit lens doesn't show very much geometric correction, and the CA correction is mostly what I use the tool for. -
How to set the correct configuration for K7N2G (MS-6570)
Hello all
I have one of two problems
1. I have a problem whereby I have recently purchased a K7N2G (MS-6570) with Athlon XP 2800 256kb cache 333mhz cpu.
I have fitted it inside the motherboard and when I start the computer it says that I have a Athlon XP 1350? -Please, what settings would I need to change so that the motherboard identifys my CPU properly?
2. I moved my old hard drive to my new computer and when I leave the computer to carryon booting through to the operating system it displays an error message that the EMM 386 manager wasnt installed? and I have to intervene so it can continue. Is it because I am using DDR memory 256 or that the settings on the motherboard havent been set yet properly?
Please aid me,
many thanks.HI
Thanks it worked but i have one more problem
it says
EMM386 not installed - unable to set page frame base address
? what does this mean and how can i fix it?
I am using win98 operating system -
How do I set Lens Correction Profile so that my make of camera and the lens used is the default setting please
The only way that I know how to do this is to make a Develop preset that only incorporates the appropriate lens profile and no other adjustments and then set up the import dialog to apply that develop preset to all imports.
With current images already imported apply the lens profile correction to an image and then select all the images made with that camera/lens combination and then do a 'Sync...' with only the 'LensCorrection' and 'Lens Profile Corrections' ticked.

LR 3, Pshop CS3 and lens corrections: wha'?
Perform lens corrections in LR3. Open in Photoshop CS3.
And the lens corrections are not applied. Repeatable.
Right now I'm having to finish the PSD, the syncing the (ignored) lens corrections from the raw file to the PSD.
Where's the hidden Do What I Asked command for lens corrections?Hm. I would assume that LR3's engine would render the PSD, then open it in Pshop.
Because (thanks to your note) I see that I can export a righteously-rendered PSD and, as a post-process, have it open in Pshop immediately.
Thanks, Lee Jay.
