Gmail inbox shows "4294967295"?

The Gmail inbox on my iPhone now shows 4294967295. Obviously, I do not have that many new messages... in fact, I have no new messages.
I have tried to delete the Gmail account on my iPhone and re-add it. This did not fix the problem.
I have tried syncing my iPhone with iTunes. This did not fix the problem.
For what it's worth, a Google search says that "4294967295" is the highest number you can get using 32 bits. Not sure what this means or why my inbox is showing this number.

I did a bit more research. It appears that "4294967295" means -1. My mail count was set to -1 for some reason. I think I had a stuck unsent message. The strange part is that it did not appear in Drafts, Outgoing, or Unsent mail.
I ended up just doing a complete restore on my iPhone and it seems to have cleared it up.

If you're trying to decide between using POP and IMAP, we encourage you to use IMAP.
Unlike POP, IMAP offers two-way communication between your web Gmail and your email client. Inbox displays "4294967295"

I use Comcast mail on my iPhone 4 (GSM). While downloading a forwarded email that was taking forever, I stopped the download (the spinning wheel froze) and was able to delete the message. I had to reset the phone to exit the mail application. Now it shows "Inbox 4294967295" when I open mail. New mail sound works but the number of new messages on the home screen does not display the number. I have reset the phone several times but the 4294967292 still appears. How do I get rid of it?

Mutt/Offlineimap Sent mail is showing up in Gmail Inbox

I am just starting my journey with mutt and quite like the interface thus far but I am having trouble with sent emails showing up in my Gmail inbox. It is a little annoying to always have my sent emails appear as unread in my inbox. In my search for a solution I have found that this behavior sometimes occurs if you have Gmail filters that are set to never send to spam, I checked and do not have any such filters. This could also happen if I had $record set, but I have specifically unset record. My muttrc and offlineimaprc are as follows (I used several tutorial sites to help create these) (I have hashed out some personal details):

I use msmtp to send the emails (and they do send) but as far as I know that program should have nothing to do with my folder labeling.
What happens exactly: When in mutt, I press 'm' and compose an email and send with 'y'. Oddly enough, the email appears in my gmail inbox (the webmail) even before I sync mutt with offlineimap (I don't automatically sync). Once I sync, I see the email in both my sent mail and inbox.

If you log out of Gmail, then clicking the thumbnail should take you to a login page. If you don't log out, then anyone can access your email just by typing gmail.com in the URL bar. But you're right that the picture does create a temptation to click...
You can set the new tab page back to blank if you prefer. However, please note that the page thumbnails are stored in the browser cache, so you also need to clear your cache to flush out existing thumbnails if you don't want anyone to be able to see them.

The following relates to inbox problems in GMail in Nov 2011, no error 400 was seen, only a blank area where the message should have been. Mail in Gmail Inbox not showing in Mail Inbox

I have about 1000 messages in my Gmail Inbox (viewed through Safari as well as my Mailbox ios app). However, Mail Inbox (on both Mavericks and ios) show about a disengagement most recent messages. Accounts are configured for IMAP.

thanks for your solution. it worked, but, regrettably, the gmail icon from my location bar showed up as an internet explorer icon! when i clicked the i.e. icon, it opened up my gmail inbox. i tried, via properties on the i.e. icon, to change it, but only got microsoft's stupid, unrecognizable icons.

i have i.e. 8 as a downloaded program in the event of a ff problem, but only use ff 3.6.24 and love it.

Gmail inbox won't open in standard view only html. what to do and/or why?

My gmail inbox won't open in the standard view. It will say "loading.." on the upper left and "Done" on the bottom but is blank in between. I have to switch to html in order to see the messages. Advise, please.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Gmail Folders Showing up empty on Pre

My Gmail has been performing fine then yesterday evening when I went to my Gmail inbox it turned up empty all the other folders seemed to perform normally. I still get notifications of new emails and when I press on those emails they seem to show up fine. When I use the back gesture I return to the blank folder. It is also worth noting that if I have unread messages the number does show up in the top right corner. The only thing missing really is the list of emails.
I have tried refreshing several times, removing the account and readding, and rebooting my Pre. Everything else about the device seems normal. After I readded my account the issue has spread to my All Mail folder too.
Anyone else experiencing this issue? I have a friend with a Pre and his Gmail is working fine.

I have been experiencing the same phenomenom whereby my pre will only show me the first 5 messages of my GMAIL IMAP inbox. i can scroll up and see divider lines but cannot see any messages... and before anyone asks if i have tried things let me just say that i have been on the phone with Palm for well over 7 hours over the course of 3 days and 3 tiers. I have called sprint, i have posted on most websites. Palm's answer to me was to either get a new Pre (which of course i cannot because of the sprint 30 day return policy and palm's blaming of Gmail) or to contact Gmail support !!!! WHICH THERE IS NONE !!!!! what am i supposed to do? i cannot just up and change m email address. i have had this email for ever and it is a great email address! Palm, Please please please please, this is an issue with many people!!! contact your friends over there at gmail quickly... and i mean really quickly! or you will have lost a 10+year customer.

Gmail keeps showing blank emails on iphone.

gmail keeps showing i have 2-3 new emails all the time. but the message says " no sender, no content." these same messages are not in my gmail inbox online; only show up on iphone. anyoe else having this?

I have exactly the same problem. If I go into the email settings and switch Notes sync off, it's resolved for a couple of hours but occurs again later.

Mail stop counting my gmail inbox unread number

I've read some of the posts here claming mail doesn't show unread number in dock icon. My issue is different.
The thing is that mail stop counting unread mails in my gmail inbox.

If my iCloud inbox has unread emails, the number will show in the app as well as at dock icon. Or if I switch to show All Mailboxes, unread mail number in other mailboxes from my gmail account will show.

oh forgot to mention a couple other clear signs that mail.app is "confused" here:
if i right click on a mailbox in the mailboxes window and select "get info..." (a very useful command hidden in an odd place), it shows me that right now my inbox has 3 messages and my temp mailbox has 50 messages. but when i look at either of these mailboxes normally, they show up with zero messages.
if i send myself a test message and then tell mail.app to check for mail, the new message indicator comes on and my inbox temporarily shows up as having 3 new messages. then when i click on it, it shows up as empty and the new message indicator goes away again. if i repeat this it will say 4 new messages, etc.
so it's acting like there's some kind of corrupt partial message at the top of my inbox that mail.app can't read and keeps choking on. i've had this happen before on other imap servers a while back. for those servers, i had normal login access, so i could go and edit or delete the offending file. in this case (apple's .mac server), i don't know how to do the equivalent.

Help -- Email no longer appears in Gmail inbox

As of yesterday, messages no longer appear in my Gmail inbox on my HTC Incredible 2. I can access new messages at gmail.com and using outlook on my home PC. When I send myself a message, the phone buzzes and says I have new mail, but nothing appears in the inbox. I can see sent mail (including the messages I sent to myself that do not appear in the inbox). It's a 2-week old phone and I use few apps, so I have definitely not reached memory capacity. Any suggestions?

Oh No! You should be able to see incoming email in your Gmail application. Let's get this fixed right away.
How many Gmail accounts do you have set up on the device? Did this start after a particular application was downloaded? It may be a third party application causing the error. Please power on in safe mode and retest. Here's the link to power on in safe mode:

Are you able to receive the messages in safe mode?
It also could be an issue with Outlook on your PC taking the messages. Please ensure that a copy of the message is being left on the server. Inbox showing 0 messages or correct # of new msg but old state on click

I think the problem occurs for many users but couldn't find a post giving a summary of this issue.
System:
one account,
IMAP/Exchange
10.4.10/10.4.11
Problem:
Starting from normal operation at some point the INBOX seems to become inconsistent.
I think the problem is related to switching environments -> going from LAN to WLAN or UMTS network connections.
What I mean by this is that the problem often times occurs right after you swichted network connection and start mail again. Not 100% sure though...
There are actually two flavors of the problem:
A) INBOX (yes only INBOX!) going to 0 messages
Although there are messages in the INBOX (around 200) mail will show 0 messages.
Normal measures like, get new mail, sync account, rebuild will not make messages reappear.
B) INBOX shows correct number of new messages but will to the old state of the inbox before getting new mail
This most often occurs when you click on a different mailbox (like drafts, trash). INBOX will then recieve new messages, progress is shown in the activity window. When finished the INBOX displays the correct number of new messages in the side bar an in the mail icon.
When you actually click on the INBOX, the display will reset (going to a blank INBOX) and then show the state of the INBOX before you told it to get new mail.
Extended measures to resolve the issue sometimes fixes it near-term but the issue will occur after a while.
Extended measures taken are:
- delete/recreate envelope index (probably a hundred times)
- delete/recreate account folder
- recreate account from scratch
- trashed mail.plist
- changed from IMAP to Exchange account type (mail server is Exchange)
- resinstalled mail
- update from 10.4.10 to 10.4.11

Yes, I do have mail rules. Disabeling them and rebuilding the mailbox didn't help much.

I wouldn't necessarily agree that this is an Exchange issue. It's the way Exchange does it
l would argue if other none Exchange client can handle these messages (e.g. Thunderbird) why not Mail.app?
I think the problem is probably more directly related to the Junk Mail handling in Mail.app.
I have Mail.app set to move Junk mail to the Mail.app Junk Mail folder.
Mails in this folder do not show up in my Mail.app INBOX but (of course) in the Exchange INBOX.
