Gnome3: Default keymapping incorrect

I've been using arch with Awesome and everything was working fine. I installed gnome3 and started using that.
after Gnome 3 boots up this is the output of
xmodmap -pke
http://pastebin.com/VChFQXVT
keycode 110 = Home NoSymbol Home
keycode 111 = Up NoSymbol Up
keycode 112 = Prior NoSymbol Prior
keycode 113 = XF86AudioMute NoSymbol XF86AudioMute
keycode 114 = XF86AudioLowerVolume NoSymbol XF86AudioLowerVolume

keycode 123 = XF86AudioRaiseVolume NoSymbol XF86AudioRaiseVolume
keycode 124 = XF86PowerOff NoSymbol XF86PowerOff
keycode 125 = KP_Equal NoSymbol KP_Equal
as you can see keycode 113,114,115 are the same as 121,122 and 123
113-115 are suppose to be the right and left arrow keys and the end key on my laptop.
i can change this by running xmodmap but i found that after I resume my computer the change has reverted.
I would like to fix this at the root of the problem, where these values are being setup initially, but if you know a way i can put in xmodmap with the new key mappings so even after a resume that would be ok as well.
Any ideas what is causing this?
EDIT::
before running xmodmap to change the keymaps, I ran xev to try and figure out what the heck is going on.
this is the output of xev for a down keypress and a right keypress

Hi Jonas,
The edit  Key mapping information gets updated based on the mapping of the Remote key in Import manager.
Based upon which key for a given remote system you are mapping for a record the default key gets set in the Data manager.
The mapping can be done in the import manger but setting of the default key is limited only in the mdm Data manager.
You can only perform teh appropiate mapping of the required keys from your remote system as the Remote key for your records and view the same in Edit key mapping.
As this requires business intervention as mentioned in the above post i do not think this is allowed at the import stage.
Hope It Helped
Thanks & Regards

  • [SOLVED] Changing default keymaping in fluxbox

Right, here's one I'm finding interesting and a little frustrating.
My default keymapping in fluxbox is set to us and I can't change it.
My keymapping is set to uk in rc.conf and I can get uk in the terminal.
I have also set the xorg.conf file to contain the following lines in the eyboard section:
    Option        "XkbRules" "xorg"
    Option        "XkbLayout" "gb"
I tested x before installing fluxbox by doing startx and it worked ok, the keyboard mapping was set to uk.
I have installed fluxbox and have set it to start when using the startx command in my user account, leaving root to use just normal x.
In fluxbox the keyboard is mapped to us instead of gb, but it's ok in normal x.
The only way I can get around this is to use the setxkbmap gb command in the xterm of fluxbox, but doing this everyti,e i boot is annoying.
I've also tried adding the line setxkbmap gb to the startup file ~./fluxbox/startup but that does not work either.
Any and all suggestions welcome. (And yes I have read posts on other forums and searched on google).

    hi.
put this line on your ~/.fluxbox/startup
    setxkbmap <language_symbol> &
replace "<language_symbol>" with the language symbol you want
you may check them with the command
    ls /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/
(pt stands for portuguese, fr for french, etc..)
put it just before "exec fluxbox"
edit: sorry I didn't realized that you have tested this before

  • All "Site Content and Structure" default views incorrectly showing "There are no items to show in this view"

    Hi All,
On my SharePoint Online site (Office 365) all my “Site Content and Structure” default views are showing “There are no items to show in this view”. For example the “Checked out To Me” view shows “There are no items to show in this view” (shown in screenshot
below). I know this is incorrect and should show at least ten items that have been checked out to me for over two months. I am also a member of the Site Collection Administration and Owner groups.
What I am trying to do is view all the "Checked Out items" within a Site Collection including it's sub-sites.
Is there a feature that needs to be activated to get the correct information from the “Site Content and Structure” default views?
    I hope you can help
    Colin

    Hi Colin,
As I understand, all “Site Content and Structure” default views are showing “There are no items to show in this view” in your SharePoint online site.
    Check things below:
    1. Go to site content and structure logs in site setting to check if there is correct information.
    2. Create a new site collection to check if there are items in Site Content and Structure.
    3. Switch another computer to check if it can work.
If the issue still exists, I recommend you to post it in the O365 forum.

The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.

  • IMac Lion login defaults to incorrect Safari home page and emails

When I log into my iMac running Lion, the following programs startup automatically - mail, safari and iTunes.  In mail, an old email is always highlighted, always the same one...I want it to default to the newest message.  In Safari and bookmarked page always starts up instead of my homepage - I want my home page to start up.  And iTunes always starts up and I don't want this to happen.
If I go into my System Preferences -> General, I've unchecked the box "Restore applications ..."  but when I exit and go back in, it's rechecked.  In my login applications the only application listed is "iTunes Helper."
It appears my login preferences are always defaulting to the incorrect (but always the same) settings for iTunes, Safari, and Mail.  Any way to clear this all out?

    Preferences may be corrupted...
    Go to ~/Library/Preferences
Move the com.apple.systempreferences.plist file to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.
    Open System Preferences > General
Make sure the box next to Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps is deselected.
You may also need to move the com.apple.Safari.plist file to the Trash as well then reset your Home page in Safari > Preferences - General.
    Same path as the systempreferences.plist

  • IPhone 4S Calendar Event Defaults to Incorrect Time Zone

My iPhone, Win7 PC is set for Eastern Time. I use Outlook/Exchange and the Outlook calendar in Options is set for Eastern Time as well. I never had any issues until recently. My iPhone syncs with the Exchange server using ActiveSync.
A few weeks ago I was out west and changed my Win 7 O/S time zone to Pacific Time. I did not change anything in Outlook or on my iPhone. The iPhone has always been set for “Set Automatically” (Settings/General/Date & Time). Also, in Mail, Contacts and Calendars my Time Zone is Set for Montreal (where I live) with Time Zone Support “On”. I have never changed this from the day I got the iPhone. Whenever I travel the time zone automatically switches. When I came back from the west coast my phone switch back to Eastern as it should and I manually set the Win 7 O/S to Eastern as well.
Now for some reason, when I create a calendar event in Outlook (i.e. on the desktop) the event shows up correctly on the iPhone (example: a meeting for tomorrow at 2:00 PM Eastern shows up as tomorrow at 2:00PM on the iPhone). However, when I “edit” the calendar event on the iPhone, the time shows up as 11:00AM and the time zone is Los Angeles (3 hours apart from Montreal). You can just imagine how this is causing me havoc as I do business in different time zones and have to reschedule meetings often.
I have tried to set the time zone to something else and then back to eastern or Montreal. It makes no difference. When I create a calendar event directly on the iPhone the default time zone is Montreal and it shows up correctly on both devices.
    Any ideas what’s going on?

    Hi Song&DanceMan,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
Issues with calendar time zone can be very frustrating. It sounds as though the Time Zone Support feature may be affecting these events. Please use the attached article for more information on Time Zone Support.

  • Default country incorrect in Address Book

Whenever I add a new address to my list of contacts in my Address Book, the entry for 'country' defaults to 'Chad' which is a country in Africa. I am in The Netherlands however... Each time I have to change this manually.
Is there a way to get it to default to 'The Netherlands' instead ...? Why would it keep defaulting to Chad when I am no where near...?
    Thanx, New Be

Thank you Barry for your quick response...
Indeed I have checked my setting on my Mac Pro: preferences>general>address format... It was set to 'Netherlands' as it should be.
I did reset it though and went back to my iPad. But no change... It still reads 'Chad' for some reason then I wish to add a new contact...
Would a change in preferences on my Mac Pro effect the settings on my iPad as well...?
I did go to the Apples Store in Amsterdam concerning this issue. They couldn't figure it out either and advised me to check the Apple Online Help Service/Community...
    Cheers, NB

  • ICloud on my iPad 2 defaults to incorrect email address

I'm still having issues with iCloud on my iPad 2.
My inactive MobileMe account was moved to iCloud with no problems when I went to iCloud, but for some reason my iPad 2 defaults my mail address to <name>@mac.com rather than the one that works - <name>@me.com. There does not appear to be any way to change this as the email address is greyed out in the Settings/iCloud/Account/Mail section.  In my Apple Id I have listed the <name>@me.com address as being the default mail address, but for some reason iCloud is ignoring the default.
I have tested both mail addresses postng to iCloud - when posting to <name>@me.com the mail comes through fine.  When posting to <name>@mac.com the server returns a transmission error: "Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias: <name>@mac.com (state 14)."
The consequence of all this is, of course, that I cannot get mail from my iCloud account on my iPad.  This is not a good thing.
    Any thoughts please anyone?
PS: Obviously the "<name>" above is a placeholder for my real name...

Try contacting Support in your country, after confirming your id and that it's your account they should be able to reset its password.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5699
If your country isn't on that page then try this form and explain and see what they reply with : https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
When they've done that update the primary email address on the account to be an account that you have access to e.g. by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store and logging into it, via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, or via the 'manage your apple id' button on http://appleid.apple.com

  • Default email incorrect

A letter is missing from my default email address.  The BT desktop help acknowledges there's a fault, so tests it but uses the correct email and it therefore decides there's nothing wrong. How can I correct this?
    Solved!

All you need to do is to change the account details within Windows mail. I am not familiar with that program, but there must be an option under "account settings".

  • [Solved] Problem with Xorg, unable to load the right keymap

    Hi, people,
I recently installed arch on a desktop, but there is a problem installing X: for whatever reason, Xorg seems unable to load the correct keymap (fr-latin9) and instead, loads the default one.
I can see what seems to be the problem in the Xorg logs, but I actually absolutely don't know how to solve it. Here my /var/log/Xorg.0.log

    Probably because "latin-9" doesn't exist?
    # nano /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/fr
    xkb_symbols "latin9" {
    include "latin"
    include "nbsp(level3)"
    name[Group1]="French (legacy, alternative)";
    key <TLDE> { [ oe, OE, leftdoublequotemark, rightdoublequotemark ] };
    key <AE01> { [ ampersand, 1, dead_acute, periodcentered ] };
    key <AE02> { [ eacute, 2, asciitilde, Eacute ] };
Try it without the dash (without the "-").
And don't forget to mark it as solved (by editing the first post).

  • Statically referencing the default JTextPane Cut, Paste, and Copy actions

If all JTextPanes share the same default keymap, which includes the Cut, Paste, and Copy, how do I modify those actions statically so those modifications are available to all JTextPanes before one is instantiated?
Also, it seems that the key bindings are linked to the UI....an HTMLEditorKit has different actions than a RTFEditorKit (except for the default actions they share), but when you swap out an editor kit, only the ActionMap is updated...why not the InputMap as well?

The JDK 1.4 use read/write methods of editor kit for paste/copy operations. So if you set your editor kit it will be call your read/write functions.
    best regards

  • [bug] DB Export - Varchar(n) DEFAULT 'x'

Bug exists in SQL Developer version 1.5.4.MAIN-5940, as well as in old ones.
When exporting DB (Tools -&gt; Database Export, even with default settings), incorrect CREATE TABLE statements can be generated.
After every column of Varchar(n) type, where n can be any number, having DEFAULT values (whether string literals like *'x'* or predefined values like user, a new line marker is added. If it is not the last column, it simply does not look good:
    bq.      {font:Courier New}{color:#808080}CREATE TABLE "table"{color}{font}{color:#808080} \\     {color}{font:Courier New}{color:#808080}( "COLUMN_A" DATE DEFAULT sysdate,{color}{font}{color:#808080} \\     {color}{font:Courier New}{color:#808080}"COLUMN_B" VARCHAR(255) DEFAULT user{color}{font}{color:#808080} \\     {color}{font:Courier New}{color:#808080},{color}{font}{color:#808080} \\     {color}{font:Courier New}{color:#808080}"COLUMN_C" VARCHAR(255){color}{font}{color:#808080} \\     {color}{font:Courier New}{color:#808080});{color}{font}
But if it is the last one, created statement is incorrect as it contains an empty line like this:
    bq.      {font:Courier New}{color:#808080} \\     CREATE TABLE "table"{color}{font}{font:Courier New}{color:#808080}\\     ( "COLUMN_A" DATE DEFAULT sysdate,{color}{font}{font:Courier New}{color:#808080}\\     "COLUMN_B" VARCHAR(255) DEFAULT user{color}{font}{color:#808080} \\     {color}{font:Courier New}{color:#808080} \\     );{color}{font}

There are indeed various problems with exporting. Current workaround is creating a view (temporarily) and exporting form there.

  • New users with Global Password Policy requiring password "reset on first user login" are still prompted to reset password after entering incorrect password

    The setup:
We have the option "Password must: be reset on first user login" enabled in the Global Password Policy on our 10.9 / Mavericks server. We import new user accounts into Open Directory via a delimited text file and include a default password for each user.
    What I've observed and tested:
When a user attempts to log into a computer that's bound to our Open Directory for the first time, they can enter anything in the password field and still receive the prompt to reset their password. They are never notified that they entered their default password incorrectly. The password reset will then fail (as it should), but they still aren't notified that this is the reason for the password reset failure. To put it another way: Seeing the prompt to reset your password would reasonably imply that you entered the default password correctly, but that's not the case at all.
    The question:
Is this expected behavior? If it is, it doesn't seem logical. If this was the case in OS X Server 10.3 through 10.7 I never noticed it. Can anyone corroborate this with their own setup? Thanks in advance.
    -- Steve

    Some follow up questions:
    - How did you migrate (dsmig ldif or binary import)
    - Did the accounts in .x have any custom password policies set?
For a "new" and a migrated entry, can you check if a passwordpolicysubentry is configured?
(search as directory manager and fetch the attribute)

    (EE) Error loading keymap /tmp/server-0.xkm
(EE) XKB: Failed to load keymap. Loading default keymap instead.
I assume this causes not having an appropriate keyboard model and layout set:
    # setxkbmap -query
         rules:      base
         model:      empty
         layout:     empty
Within X11 the keyboard mapping is ok though - however if I login to a Linux server via openNX the key mapping becomes totally messed up.
This was not the case with Snow-Leopard (10.6.6).
I re-installed X11, tried with a fresh user definitevly not having any .X11 settings somewhere - no change...
    Any help greatly appreciated!

This is so close. Everything works great except upper case E. It just comes out lower case. Here is the output of xev when I type an upper case D and an upper case E. Very strange.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Using custom "Correct/Incorrect" images

Is it possible to use images as the "Correct/Incorrect" captions for quiz questions? I'd like to use a green check mark or red X instead of the default "Correct/Incorrect - Click anywhere to continue" text captions.
    Thanks!

    Hello,
Worked out an example to be able to explain the work flow:
on the question slide I delete the Success/Fail captions (you can keep the Hint if you want, I deleted it as well)
I imported two graphics (see Timeline, sorry for Dutch): Rood and Groen that are displayed for rest of slide duration, but in the PI set to be invisible
normally you have to actions when a user has answered a question: after Submit the Failure/Success captions popup, that also give the message to click on the slide or Y to continue; the first action will not be executed anymore because there are no Failure/Success captions anymore; when the user clicks on Submit, the playhead will continue to play; for this reason I incremented the slide duration, so that the graphics will be visible (in this example) for 4.5secs (after the pausing point) before the playhead reaches the end of the slide and goes to the next slide.
if the graphics may remain on the slide (when user gets back or reviews), you do not need an advanced action, just choose 'Show Rood' for the action on Failure (image for incorrect answer) and 'Show Groen' on Success. You find this in the Quiz Properties (see second screenshot)
if the user can return to the slide and change the answer, you'll better create an advanced action, in which you Show the proper image and Hide the other one.
