Going fine until... black
Help,
Installing new OS Snow Leopard on Original MacBook Pro 17". Everything seems fine until it suddenly goes completely black. The super drive spins for a while the disk seems to still be being read, but the screen remains black...
I then held the start button down after everything had stopped, got the grey screen to appear, held down the eject button and got a Grey folder with the Question mark to appear.
Obviously needed the install disk so I put it back in and the whirring began again. I held down the C button and once again everything seemed to be fine until...
THE BLACK-ness returned. Then the machine decides to shut down... WhAT is going on here folks. This is the first install from a brand new Family Pack disk I bought in St. Louis last week....
I LIVE IN MONTANA SO GENIUS BAR IS ONE **** OF A LONG LONG WAY AWAY.... HELP!
I did do a Time Machine backup yesterday... so EVERYTHING is not lost... whew.
I just bumped into something else. If you have not started, you might want to try it.
Here is a solution that fixed the “gray screen and spinning beach ball” problem. I am no sure if it would help with just a gray screen problem or a gray screen with flashing question mark problem. The solution didn't mention seeing a black screen. And, of course, I am not sure it will work again for the gray screen and spinning beach ball problem.
But, enough about me. Start up from another drive assuming you have one (alternatively use firewire target disc mode. Go System > Library. A locked folder called “Install on Starup” is present, then delete it and try starting to the hopefully now functioning SL installation.
If already started, then no problem. In your stead, I'll still want to go back and start over.

I haven't had issues with other updates. This one's a doozy, and I don't have iCould backup activated. I suppose now I must restore and will lose everything? Not sure why my phone went into Recovery Mode when everything was going so well. Was updating through iTunes on a new iMac (not via wi-fi).
Bummer.
I finally decided that a restore was my only option, so I clicked it. I realized after that I could choose to restore to factory settings or choose what I had synced to iTunes. I sync often, so all of my stuff came back. It worked well, and I hope your problem is gone or soon goes away. I never backed anything up to iCloud and now realize that syncing to iTunes each time I charge is a great idea. I wish you the best. -
anyone any ideas?
I'm having the exact same problem and I am the only person who has ever been logged on to this computer to use iTunes Match. Only my wife also uses this computer, and she has never used or signed up for Match.
Interestingly, I have the same number of days listed on my error, 82 days.
Obviously, Apple has screwed up somewhere. I've put a help request in. If we cannot find a solution, we'll have to let everybody know that Match is a ripoff and that all should avoid this fraud like the plague...
Shalom, y'all!

I purchased an Ipod touch and when I tried to download 10.5, it stop loading and gave an error message, A program it needs to run is being used by another program. What will fix this problem. I am running Vista and this is my first time trying to download ITunes. The only Apple device that has been connected is my wife's I Phone 3G.

I have a new Apple TV which is working fine except that I cannot access .mov files which are in my iTunes Library. How can I get to these? I can run them on my computer and select Apple TV on the screen, but the Apple TV goes to a black screen
Mov is a container format, you'd need to look at the codec used by the movie file inside the container to know whether it will work with the Apple TV or not.

my ipod 4g was working fine until i locked the screen but when i tried to turn it back on the screen stays black and its been 3 days. Does anyone know how i could fix this?
- Charge the iPod for half an hour. Then reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- if still not working, connect to your computer. If iTunes sees the iPod, restore the iPod.
- If still problem, place the iPod in recovery mode and then try to restore the iPod. For recovery mod see:

Logic works fine until recording then goes crazy
Logic works fine until recording then goes crazy. As if someone is pressing down on the keypad space bar & down keys. The mouse becomes very hard to control. (jumping about) I have to quit Logic to get rid of it. Any ideas what I can do ?
I've tracked the problem down to my 'Shuttle Pro' (used for sending key commands to logic). Somehow it is deciding to send loads of messages after i hit record

Have you reset since the upgrade? Hold down the sleep/wake button along with the home button until you see the apple, then let go.

I have been using app for local news. It has worked fine until 2 days ago. Now,when I choose the app it looks as if it is loading then it blacks out and takes me back to the ipad screen where I chose the selection. I have uninstalled and reistalled app same problem. Any ideals? This app works on my iphone and by daughters ipod.
ThanksI also have the same problem with my downloaded apps not opening any more, simply closing immediately after I try to open them.
It seems this only happens to downloaded apps, not the built-in ones.
I have been advised to remove all my apps and reload, but I fear loosing my data.
I tried the 2 diff kinds of shutdown/reboots, but did not help. -
I've seen several discussions on the camera flash for iPhone and iPod Touch 5 wherein the flash doesn't work or is out of sync. Mine was fine until I upgraded to iOS 7. Despite being current with the new updates, there has been nothing to fix the flash.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -
Hi,
Sorry, I'm new to the community, so apologies if I'm repeating myself.
OK, so I tried to install Windows Vista onto my iMac with the disk partition. Everything was going fine and it wasn't until last minute, when it was installed that an error came up saying that this can only be done with Windows 7. After this error, I couldn't access any errors of my iMac and when I shut down and restarted my computer, it automatically logged into Windows.
So after a panic, I rang Apple Care and the lady helped me log into my apple area, delete Windows from my iMac, and all was restored.
However, now when I shut down my computer and boot it back up, I think my iMac is trying to log into Windows areas that no longer exist. It loads up a black screen and doesn't move from there. To log into my Apple area, I have to do the whole process of holding Alt immediately after I switch the power on and access the Mac drive and log in that way.
It's beginning to become a real pain and I'm paranoid this process is going to damage my computer. Any advice on how to restore logging-in back to it's former glory when I first purchased it?
ThanksSolved it. Thank you very much for that!

I've upgraded to OS 10.8.2 and my Bowers and Wilkins MM-1 Speakers were working fine until today, and now they won't play any sound at all, even though iTunes shows the audio is playing. I've tried both the headphone jack and the USB port. Please help! I don't want to have to be stuck using my internal speakers!
Thank you,
ChrisMichael,
Thanks. I haven't mixed down the audio or checked the number of tracks in Prefs. Good points.
As far as a mixdown goes, I'll definitely give it a try, though I wonder whether or not the tracks will be recognized during mix down recording - given that you can't hear either of those segments in playback. Just have to try.
Re the preferred number of allowed tracks - I'll go check as soon as I send this off, but I'm not sure that applies in this case, since the two Channels containing the segments that are pinked out are not in additional tracks. I should have mentioned that other audio clips and segments on the same Channels in the SAME tracks ARE heard in playback. As are two additional track in the 2nd Sequence. It's only when the two sequences are joined that the pink tinted segments can't be heard. Within the sequence the same audio cuts playback as they should. Thanks again &
Best regards,
David -
I'm trying to install Adobe Photoshop CS3 on a new ASUS ASM11BB001O computer equipped with 64-bit Windows 7. I use a "bundle" approach, first loading Photoshop 6, then upgrading with CS upgrade and then CS3 upgrade. The installation goes smoothly until I add PS CS, and then it balks at the "accept" Adobe conditions screen. I have two other (Gateway) computers with Windows 7, 64-bit, on both of which the PS-6, CS-CS3 pathway worked fine. Any thoughts on how to get this working? Thanks
If your goal is to install and activate CS5 there is no need to install anything preceding it. You will only need to have the serial number from the preceding version that you upgrade from (CS3 I guess).

Hi!
After Windows update in april 2014 I cant any longer use the scanning funktion via network from Canon MF8330 Cdn multifunktion printer/fax/scanner machine! It worked fine Before the april Windows update installation.
I have reinstalled with Canons driver kit 2005b för Windows 7 64 bit. All works fine until the scanner installation ends, then system report that it cannot install the scanner and I have to try installing again. I have done that now several times but it helps not. I Think it has something to do with that the Canon scanner drivers isn´t 64 bit files, or the problem is that windows update has replaces saome dll file to a never version that not work with Canon drivers.
I have seen that there is a service pack 1 from Canon för Windows 8 and 8,1, can I use that service pack to get a never dll file for scanner or work this only for windows 8 version.
Have someone a solution to this! I have contacted the Canon support already and they say that its a Microsoft problem!
Very thanful for help in this case!
Greetings
Sixten
Hi!
I am installing the drivers from Canons site. It is the newest version 2005b for Windows 7 64 bit to MF8330Cdn Canon multifunction printer/fax/scanner. Installation goes well for the printer and fax but not for scanner drivers. The error message is Could not install the scanner. In device manager is there then a unknown device under Image devices. In Device Manager I try to update drivers, but it does not help either, error message is access denied. I am logged on the system with administrator account, therfore it is strange that I get the error message access denied.
I tried earlier to do system restore back to previous time, but it did not work, error was that the system could not do the system restore because of access rights.
is there anything else I could do.
Here is the MF36SCN.inf file for scanner installation from Canon, if it can help You to go further with the problem. Is there something strange in the inf file that does not work in Windows 7 64 bit Windows, something shows that ther is also same 32 bits parts in the inf file.
Greetings
Sixten

SixtenHow I fixed it, at least for now:
1. I've been using OC Genie for a few days, it has been working great on Windows but I guess it was causing many games to crash to the desktop so I decided to turn it off, since then the memory issue started to happen, since this morning.
2. I can only think of my computer got OC Genie addicted, like addiction to crack or cocaine, and the memory, or call it nervous system, wanted more OC Genie, so it gave it to him and bingo, my 4GB readable, but then I used of trickery and deceit to disable OC Genie again and my 4GB is back again without OC Genie.
Hope this helps someone.

I created a logo through Adobe illustrator and thought it would automatically be in Vector Art. When I sent the logo to a sign company they said it was pixelated, not Vector. Is it because I converted it into a pdf file before I sent it? And is there
