Going from centralized system to distributed system

Hello,
We would like to go from a centralized system and to a distributed system, having the database and the central instance on different servers. Could you please tell me if there is a procedure to do this or do we have to reinstall ?
Best regards,
Arijana

normaly it is easier to move the DB to another host.
Moving the CI you will need a new License Key, you will have to reconfigure all SAP Clients (SAP GUI) using the new hostname.
On the other hand before splitting the CI and database you should add additional Application servers (dialog instances).
Normaly you will not be able to utilize all resources of the database host, with just one application server installed on a separate machine. (valid for equal hardware configurations of both machines).

  • Need Information from Central System

    Hello Friends,
I am working on an application in which in dropdown we want to  display the server lists .  In our case we have a central system which works as a SLD. Now my requirement is to call a RFC from Central system which provide me the list of all servers with SLD has been configured.
After selecting the server value , I want to fetch the user information on the basis of user id on that particular server.
Can someone pls suggest me how to implement this ??
    Thanks & Regards
    Himani Saxena

    Hi,
You can use GENERAL_GET_APP_SERVER_NAME Function module to get the servernames not sure if it will work with SLD or not.
But I am curious if you need the server names, I think you should be looking for RFC destination names available in the central system which can be retrieved from RFCDES table.
There will be a lot of other FMs which you can use to get the RFC details once you have RFC details you can call each system with the user ID details.
You can call function modules like ISR_GET_USER_DETAILS to get the User details based on SAP IDs.. there are standard FMs in each system to read such data, if the FM is not RFC enabled then you can create a wrapper FM to get the details from destination system.
    Thanks

  • Problems to execute a task it plans in the solman from Central System Administration

    Good evening,
I Have a solman 7.0 EHP 1 and my doubt is that I try to automate a few tasks in the solman across the dswp in system monitoring administration and once to have the productive environments, I puncture in the task and once inside when I force a test in start transaction that we find selected the task goes out for me the following mistake: Call of SP12 is not possible: Program/Transaction/URL cannot be called.
    Thanks very much

  • Automatic Email Alert from Central System

    Hello,
Would like to ask for someone knowledgeable with setting up central auto-reaction approach on SAP System. Currently we are configuring our R3 system with this capability for us (recipients) to inform immediately if certain Critical Business Process fails. However, we have made a customized function module that determines the alert information and sends them to our central monitoring system (Solution Manager) by means of RFC (remote function call).
Our problem now is that, when we intentionally failed one job to test the functionality of this alert and inform the recipients, we found out that no alert notification has been received by the recipients.
Would you advice any steps or process or documents that I could use for verification on my set-up.
Or any inputs would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jaypee,
First check if the function module u r using is calling the program to send mails through SMTP,, next check the SCOT configuration, and the authorisations for the message server.
It would ber helpful if u could post the error number in SOST( status text)
    Also,
if possible i would like to know what further analysis is ur CEN doin on the alerts??

  • CUA can be used between 2 clients which are in the central system

    Hi
    Question 1:
In case of CUA, we have the conecept of central system and child systems.  From Central system we will be able to administer child system.  Buy my question is can we implement     CUA with the clients which are also on the central system ?
    Question 2:
Normally LDAP is connected to central system and central system inturn will be connected to child systems. But Can we connect Central system and LDAP to the child system at a time ? Is there any situaitons where we will come up with this situations ?

Yes, you can control other clients of the central system through CUA.

If you want to use CUA then your LDAP must be connected to your central system.

  • CUA: Distribute users from central to specified child systems

    Hello!
I've a question concerning CUA: I've added two new systems to our CUA. Now I want to destribute the users of the central-system to the new child-systems accompanied by assigning a specifed role for the child-systems. Unfortunately, the user maintanance - mass changes (SU10) does not support assigning the child-systems to users.
Is there any other possibility (perhaps a report) to automatically distribute the users or is it necessary to access each user manually and assign the child-systems and roles.
    Any hint would be appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!
    Greetings
    Wolfgang

Sorry, I was convinced that mass changes don't work for systems - but they do! Next time I'm going to check possibilities in more detail!

  • What if the CUA Central System goes down?

    Hi,
a hypothetical questions: I have a CUA where I've configured that user info can only be changed in the central system. What happens if the central system goes down due to a crash or similar?
Can you still not change any user information in the child system?
If not, is there a work around for that so I can change user info in the child system?
If I can change user info in the child system, whats happens when the central system goes up again? Does it overwrite any changed info in the child system?
    Thanks, Oscar

    > a hypothetical questions: I have a CUA where I've configured that user info can only be changed in the central system. What happens if the central system goes down due to a crash or similar?
Then you un-link it from the child systems' side.
    > Can you still not change any user information in the child system?
    See above
    > If not, is there a work around for that so I can change user info in the child system?
    See above
    > If I can change user info in the child system, whats happens when the central system goes up again? Does it overwrite any changed info in the child system?
That depends on your settings. I think the SAP help pages about CUA contain the answer to all your questions.
The risk of the CUA master going down should not withold you from implementing CUA

  • SolMan is Central System, how to seperate the database to make it distribut

    Hi,
    I really need some advice.
currently SolMan 7.1 on SQLServer2008R2 on Windows08R2 is installed as a central system installation (CI&DB same host).
Due to some security policy (long story), I need to seperate the DB, to move the DB to another server, making SolMan a distributed system (CI remain on existing host, DB on a different host).
SolMan is currently already fully setup and communicating to all my other SAP systems.
What will be the easiest way to move my SQLServer DB to another server?
Will this involve needing to reinstall my CI (Abap+Java) and SCS? If no reinstallation, then how do I make the current CI talk to the relocated DB?
What is the method that will have no impact on the SolMan configurations, meaning non of the connectivity from SolMan to the other SAP systems will break after the seperation of the DB?
    regards,
    Nick

    I would
    - shutdown the system (SAP + database) and make sure the services are all stopped
    - copy the database over to a new server and start it (use Note 151603 - Copying an SQL Server database)
    - set up the environment on the SolMan system to point to the new server (Note 98678 - SQL Server Connection Issues)
    - start the instance
    - if it starts remove the local installed database

  • Distributed vs. Central System

    Hi,
Currently I am in a scenario where my Database (DB2) and application is running on the same central system. I have endusers in almost 100 supply office and almost around 1 million consumer data. The system is the ISU Production server with ERP 6.0 running on AIX 6.1 in IBM P570 server. Recently we are experiencing some performance issues with the system like slow performance being a major issue. For the ISU production server we also have a failover server of same configuration which is at the moment  almost unutilised.
Will it be wise to distribute the application and database between the two servers other that running both on the same? If so what will be the best procedure to do this sort of change as we are already in Production environment?
    Thanks & Reagrds,
    Daipayan Basu
    In summary
DB and CI are in the same phisical machine. Can we place DB and CI in different phisical machines? All the mount points of ISU Production server are in SAN storage.

    Hello Michael,
Thanks a lot for your feedback. I will send you details about some of the performance issues that we are facing in our production environment. But before that I would like to share with you the breif architecture of our production environment.
At present our DB and CI is running on Node1 and there is a failover node (Node2) with same configuration. At the moment this Node2 is acting as standby server. What we are planning is to move tthe DB from Node1 to Node2 (failover server) and configure the cluster in such a way that in case of failure of Node1 CI will failover to Node2 (DB Node) and vise versa.
By doing so we can atleast allocate more RAM and CPU to both DB and CI.
In the present configuration we observe that a few z programs are consuming high memory taking work process in private mode.
Do you think segregration of DB and CI node may help resolve these issues?
I will be eagerly waiting for your response.
    Warm Regards,
    Daipayan Basu

  • Central Performance History from satellite systems

    Hi,
I'm investigating Central Performance History at the moment but am having problems getting the statistics from the satellite systems from Solution Manager.
I have our Solution Manager system setup as the CCMS CEN. I monitor about 10 SAP instances using CCMS and a number of non-SAP systems. CCMS works okay and issues alerts. I believe that this means I have the necessary RFCs in place for communication between Solution Manager and satellite systems to collect performance data.
When I use RZ23N to review the data being collected it only shows the Solution Manager system, it doesn't show any of the other SAP systems.
How can I configure the other systems to send their performance stats to Solution Manager so I can report centrally?
    SolMan - NW 7.01SP4 on Windows 2003
    Satellite systems - NW 7.0
I've read through the help pages but them only seem to reference one system, rather than collecting from satellite systems.
    Thanks,
    Gareth

    Hi David,
Thanks, I hadn't looked at the note.
Section 2 - history of all connected systems showed me what to do to collect the data. I had seen that in the setup but not understood the implications of it fully. The note explained it much clearly than the SAP help.
    Thanks again,
    Gareth

  • Homogeneous Copy  / Converting Distributed System as Central System.

    CURRENT SAP LANDSCAPE.
SAP Production System is installed as a Distributed System:
SAP Application Host:_ AIX 5.2 - SAP Application (Central Instance - Central Services) based on NW 7.0 - ERP 2005 SR1.
Database Host: AIX 5.2 - Oracle 10G ver 10.2.0.2.0. - Database remains in SAN (Storage Area Network)
    ESCENARIO ONE:
COPYING ONLY CENTRAL INSTANCE AND CENTRAL SERVICES TO A NEW HOST.
Purpose: I want to copy only SAP Application (Central Instance an Central Services)  to a new host and connect to my current Database Host .
According System Copy Guide (*) the concept of System Copy includes installation of SAP instances again using copy of source system database,  likewise in this Guide I found the following restrictions:
    Restrictions.
    1.     Copying the database only is not supported!
    2.     Copying the central instance only is not supported!
The migration controller deletes all dialog instances in the database, so the
system is not complete any longer.
    3.     Reinstalling the central instance without the database is not supported!
The migration controller deletes all dialog instances in the database, so the
          system is not complete anylonger
    Questions:
    1.     Using Homogeneus Copy (Abap+Java) can I copy ONLY SAP Instances (Central Instance and Central Services) to a new host without copying Database ?
    2.     Which is the best procedure to follow for this purpose?
(*) System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP NetWeaver 2004s SR1 ABAP+Java
    Document version: 1.1 ‒ 08/18/2006
    ESCENARIO TWO:
CONVERTING DISTRIBUTED SYSTEM IN CENTRAL SYSTEM
Purpose: Convert our SAP Distributed System (two hosts) in SAP Central System (one host)
    Questions:
    1.     Using Homogeneous Copy (Abap+Java) can I copy SAP Instances (Central Instance, Central Services)  and Oracle Database Instance  to only one host (Central System) ?
    2.     Is there any specific experience or procedure for this special case?
    3. Can I restore Database Full Offline Backup and SAP Application Offline backup  in the new server as an alternative ?
    Thanks.

Use the distributed system option, as that is what applies to your target system.  It is all explained clearly in the system copy guide, which you should definitely reference as appropriate for your software version:  http://service.sap.com/instguides -> Installation & Upgrade Guides -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NetWeaver 7.4 (or version as appropriate) -> Installation -> 2 - Installation - SAP NetWeaver Systems -> System Copy: Systems Based on SAP NetWeaver 7.1 or Higher -> Windows: ABAP (or system variant as appropriate).  In the guide, choose the Database-Specific System Copy:  MS SQL Server-Specific Procedure.  Also, be sure to check out the chapter on Copying the Database Only - Refresh.  Basically, it says to run SWPM on the target database instance, choosing <Product> -> <Database> -> System Copy -> Target System -> <System_Variant> -> Based on AS ABAP (or other as appropriate) -> Database Refresh or Move.

  • Creation of backend contract from SRM system?

    Dear Experts,
I am bit confused with the scenario of creation of backend contract from SAP SRM system? It says in few cases, based on the BAdi 'BBP_DETERMINE_Logsys', the system creates a backned contract directly in a backend ERP system. Why do we need when we have central contract?
We can meet the same requirement through central contract where we will authorize only purchasing organizations of a backend system and block the contract for local sourcing in SRM?
Secondly, How to find a contract / scheduling agreement created in a backend system when a central contract is distributed to the backend system?
    Thanks and regards,
    Ranjan

    Hello Ranjan
    question on contracts?
Note 1476307 - Importing parameter not filled in BADI BBP_DETERMINE_LOGSYS
in classic scenario , The Business wanted to create a contract from cockpit or via BID
    this BADI helps
    Symptom
You have implemented BAdi BBP_DETERMINE_LOGSYS to control the system in which contract is created in following scenarios:
    1. Creation of contract from an accepted quote / bid.
    2. Creation of contract from a requisition in SOCO.
In the method IF_EX_BBP_DETERMINE_LOGSYS~CONTRACT_LOGSYS_DETERMINE of the BAdi implementation, importing parameter IT_ORG doesnot have any values.
    Other terms
    Backend contract
    Reason and Prerequisites
some business wants to create a backend contract from SRM . see some Dinesh Powale / Claude  threads for more understanding.

  • Could not access the central system - CUA problem

    Hi all,
Please help me with this problem.
Its just a test scenario, when everything will be good here, i have to do the same for Production.
We just did upgrade our R3 system from 4.6 to ECC6.0.
    I created CUA on DB1100 ( Dev BW 4.6 ) with two child systems 1) DC1150 ( Dev CRM 4.6)
    2) DE1400 ( DEV ECC 6.0 ).
Now everything is working fine between DB1100 and DC1150..
It works like CUA ( DB1100) and child (DC1150) systems as it should be.
But connection between DB1100 and DE1400 is not working fine. When you go to SU01 in DE1400, it does not allow me to change anything. It means connection is there and DB1100 is taking DE1400 as child system but when i am updating any user information or roles in DB1100 it is not updating child system DE1400.
And when i went to tcode SCUA in DE1400 it gave me this error.
"Could not access the central system DB1100".
I dont know whats happening. I did same config in DE1400 as i did in DC1150. DC1150 is working fine but not DE1400.
The most weird thing is that DB1100 is thinking DE1400 as child system and i can not make any changes to DE1400 directly.
please help me with this. What i can do to make this working between DB1100 and DE1400??
i need to do the same in production if it gets passed.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi mala_swa,
seems that you have a problem with the rfc-connections....
Please check in both directions. The connection have to work without problems.
Check SCUL in DB1100 - what is the status of the distributed users? Errors, unconfirmed?
Check idocs in DE1400. Are there some? What is their status?
The most common error is coming from not working rfc-connections. That brings for instance problems while generationg partner profiles, etc. Also the strict naming convention (log. system name=system name in CUA landscape = name of used RFC-connections) has to be considered....
So that are some points, that you could check.
    good luck,
    Bernhard
