Google Analytics in my Flash CS5.5 iOS app?

I searched the forums but found nothing.
I was wondering if it's possible to have tracking inside of my flash built iPhone app. I've done it many times in my flash web content, so I'm just wondering if anybody has implemented any sort of advanced tracking into their iOS apps built in Flash.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Colin,
Just an update...  It looks like we finally got this up and running.  Two important notes for anyone following in our footsteps...
1)  It appears that the Analytics for Flash does not work with a "Mobile App" account, it only seems to work with a "Web site" account.  When creating the new account to track your AIR app created in Flash, create the standard "Web site" account.  When asked for a URL, even though a mobile app isn't a web page, you need to put something in that field, so enter a URL that links to something you've created.  It doesn't seem to need to actually be related to the app you're trying to track, I think they just need to confirm that a URL exists.
2) It appears that it takes several hours (24 hours perhaps?) after creating the analytics account for data to start showing up.  When I came back to this after the weekend, none of the tests I did within the first few hours of the account's existance ever showed up, not in Real-Time, nor in any of the other views.  But, to my delight, Real-Time data began appearing on Monday, so it must take some time to propegate before the account starts showing activity.
Colin, I can't thank you enough for your patience and willingness to see me through trying to get this up and running.  It really is a very simple process if you take note of the two points above, but short of knowing that, it was very frustrating.  So thank you ever so much for being such a valuable resource to this community!

  • How do I localize Flash CS5.5 iOS app to one language

    What method or process do I use to set an iOS app to only one language?
    I recently had an iPad app written in Flash CS5.5 approved at the iTunes app store. I noticed at the iTunes store, it indicates that my app is localized in 14 different languages. I never set this up; it seems that there is a process that automatically adds several default language localizations to the ipa binary when the file is published. I tried the strings panel, used a var to set the localID, went into the SDK for flex and flash builder and deleted the locales (could not find anything similar for Flash itself), but none of this seems to prevent Flash from adding the language defaults. I have found many examples on how to localize my app for several languages, but nothing on how to set it to only one.
    Thanks much, Jon

    Well, I followed the iOS language list in iTunes thread   in this forum and was able to get rid of them all. I have to say that not any single reply in the thread was exactly right. It took a combination of Saumitra Bhave's and spinlight's replies and mass of trial and error to get it all to work. Even the App loader utility came up as obsolete! I have uploaded the updated binary to Apple and am awaiting their approval. The biggest issue is the placement of and actual coding in the entitlements plist; spinlight had the right idea, but, at least in my case, was coded out a bit different. Also, it was not exactly apparent that you had to use the teminal untility to recodesign the app after tearing it apart. Thank the heavens I have a least a basic understanding of how things work on the Mac and was able to puzzle it out. If Apple approves the app and all things look good, I will follow up here with what I did. Of course, if Adobe would kill this bug with a giant can of bug spray, this crazy work around wouldn't be needed...
    Thanks much,  Jon

  • Flash CS5.5 iOS scale and arrange content on device rotation

    Hello All-
    I am new to developing iPad/iPhone apps, and am currently using Flash CS5.5 to create an iPad app for a client. Basically, the app is a multipage form with tons of radios, text fields, and text areas. It has a header and footer with some vector graphics. So here is my problem.
    In my publish settings, i have "Auto-Rotation" checked, which works fine. The native dimensions of the app is H: 1024 W:768, so when it rotates now, it just scales everything so all the content when in landscape mode fits on the screen. But what I want is when the iPad is rotated, I want the header and footers to scale to fit the entire screen, and I want all the form areas to stay the same size. This obviously would require the user to have to "pan" up and down to see all the fields of the form.
    I attempted to use the "code snippets" to accomplish this, but it really made things quite screwy. If anyone has any sites, tutorials, or groups that address this, or if you know how to fix this, I would GREATLY appreciate your feedback.
    Thank you for your time,
    - Scott V.

    Thank you for your responses they were helpful.
    I found this article, http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/screen_orientation_apis.html , which definitely helped. I ended up going with what they suggested in it, by creating two seperate movieclips that are designed for either landscape mode, or portrait mode. Pretty simple fix. Easier then rearranging all the form elements dynamically.
    Thank you,
    Scott

  • How do I update content weekly in Flash CS5 Android/iPhone App?

    Hi,
    I am working on an eLearning app that provides some new content for users to learn on a weekly basis. I am currently developing for AIR 2.5 using Flash CS5. I am thinking whether it would be possible to either push a minimal amount of additional content each week to the user's device? Or, if it would be possible to link to a web-app and display the new content via the web-app? Are any of these two methods possible to acheive using Flash CS5? If, so, which would be the better solution? And how do you do it? Thank you for your help !

  • Flash CS5.5 :Android App won't match screensize

    Hi,
    I have created an app for ipad recently with Flash CS5.5. It works just fine, but now I'm trying to publishing it for android devices such as the samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. When I set the document dimensions to 1280x800 the app won't match the screen resolution of the tab and the app displays white bars for filling the gaps.
    I tried to enlarge the document width to 1380 pixel but the height won't fit on the other hand...
    I exported it landscape view and fullscreen.
    Thanks.

    As like that for 1024*768 for ipad, Is that the exact size of android tablet os is 1280x800? whatz ur dimension defined in the flash? Also these two lines of code in your project
    this.stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
    this.stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;
    Publish it in landscape and fullscreen. uncheck the autoorient while publishing.

  • CS5.5 iOS App Graphics Quality

    Hello Adobe community,
    Thanks for helping me out today. Here's my issue: I am designing my whole app in photoshop and currently in the process of moving all of the images to flash to add interactivity. The promblem is, when we put the app on the iphone the quality of the graphic is lowered for some reason.
    When I am building in photoshop my settings:
    640px by 960px
    72 ppi
    Saving out as a .jpg
    When I send the jpg as a picture to my iphone 4 and view it in my "Photos" app, it looks great, but on the test app it loses quality.
    Does anyone have anyone have any idea whats going on here?
    Thanks,
    If I left something out that could help please tell me so I can add it!

    This only worked when we tested it in flash, but when we put it out to the iphone, it didn't look any different it still had the same unsmoothed edges. So could there be a setting when publishing as an IPA file.

  • How to Add Google Analytics?

    Hello,
    I would like to add Google Analytics to my flash file. The flash file is contained in a HTML file, which I already added the script provided by Google Analytics. At the moment, when a user visits my site, regardless which page is visited, only the homepage is counted.
    What as3 do I add to the flash file to keep track of each page that is being visited? I've tried a few codes provide on Google Analytics page and other tutorials, but none worked. The as3 for the menu buttons is displayed below.
    var menu_label:Array = new Array("Home", "Policy",
                                     "Clothes", "How To Buy", "Contact Me");
    var total:Number = menu_label.length;
    var spacing:Number=1;
    var i:Number = 0;
    var page:Number;
    var main_menu:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
    stage.addChild(main_menu);
    stage.addChild(envelope);
    stage.addChild(fm_content);
    for( i = 0; i < total; i++ )
        var btn = new button();
        btn.name = "btn" + i;
        btn.x = flashmo_button.x + (flashmo_button.width + spacing) * i;
        btn.y = flashmo_button.y;
        btn.item_no = i;
        btn.addEventListener( Event.ENTER_FRAME, btn_enter );
        var each_substring:Array = menu_label[i].split("|");
        btn.item_label.fm_label.text = each_substring[0];
        btn.item_url = each_substring[1];
        main_menu.addChild(btn);
    function btn_over(e:MouseEvent):void
        e.target.over = true;
    function btn_out(e:MouseEvent):void
        e.target.over = false;
    function btn_click(e:MouseEvent):void
        var mc = e.target.parent;
        if( mc.item_url != undefined )
            navigateToURL( new URLRequest( mc.item_url ), "_parent" );
        else
            change_page(mc.item_no);
    function btn_enter(e:Event):void

        if( mc.over == true )
            mc.nextFrame();

  • Pixalation when deploying to iPad 2 using Flash cs5.5 trial downloaded 15 days ago

    Hi All
    We are looking to use flash to create iOS apps, so we have downloaded the latest version of flash, but when testing on the iPad we see pixalation, is there a later version of cs5.5 or an update that will fix this issue?
    Or is there a setting beside the setting Resolution set to High...
    I did read somewhere about AIR3 is going to better renderring for 3D, but will it be for the iPad and also what about 2D rendering, I mean it is vectors aand I thought they did not pixelate.
    Thanks all.

    Hi,
    Thanks, I will try this and keep you posted

  • Please help: Nook Tablet app development with AIR/Flash CS5.5?

    Hello,
    I developed my first-ever iOS app using Flash CS5.5 (the app has stability issues, addressed in a separate thread).  Next on the list is Android deployment.
    Can anyone indicate if Flash CS5.5 can be used to develop Android apps for the Nook Tablet?  My problem is that the Android-based guidance I've read tells you to take your Android device and configure it for "USB Debugging."  The Nook Tablet has no such setting, unlike many other Android phones and tablets.  Basically, I need current step-by-step guidance on Android development, plus any guidance on anything different that needs to be done for the Nook Tablet.  Thank you for any advice.

    Hi, I can confirm that you can develop apps for the NOOK color and tablet. You must use Air 2.6 since the device is pre loaded with that version of air.
    Some devices dont support USB debugging, like my kindle fire however a more painful way of doing it is to publish out an apk and then manually load it on to your device either through a file manager of some sort or by emailing yourself the file and then installing it. Be sure to enable your device to accept unknown source files.
    I recently published a couple of apps to the NOOK store that I had only tested on an HTC phone and the kindle fire and they both passed the test so I believe the NOOK seems to behave very similar to most android devices and the kindle fire, same dimensions at least as the KF.

  • Flash CS5 to ipa to App Store Desperate For Help

    For 2 weeks I've been trying to publish a free convert apps I made in CS5 to the Apple App Store. I made it for Android, published it and got it on their Marketplace in mere moments. I then changed the coding to touch instead of click and got ready for the iOS Adventure.
    I can't seem to find any solid step by step tutorials for this, all of them seem to be missing a part.
    Steps on PC so far:
    1. Paid Apple $99
    2. Downloaded OpenSSL-Win32
    3. Made certificate signing request
    4. Got developer .cer
    5. Made .pem file
    6. Made .p12 file
    7. Created AppID and Provisioning Profile
    8. Transferred profile to iPad
    9. Publish .ipa in CS5 using Developer Profile and .p12
    10. Transferred to iPad and voila
    11. Used same certificate signing request to get Distribution .cer
    12. Made .pem
    13. Made .p12 Distribtion file
    14. Create Distribution Provisioning Profile
    15. Exported in CS5 using Distribution .p12 and Provisioning
    16. Made profile on iTunes Connect and converted .ipa to ,zip
    17. Realized there's no way to upload .zip from a PC
    18. Dropped $1300 on a Mac
    Steps on Mac so far:
    1. Deleted all .cer files and provisioning profiles from Provisioning Portal
    2. Used Keychain to generate new certificate request, developer and distribution provisioning profiles and .p12 files
    3. Exported Developer version of CS5 .ipa, installed on iPad, works great
    4. Exported Distribution version of CS5 .ipa
    5. Used Application Loader and got "Unable to Unzip Application"
    6. Changed .ipa to .zip
    7. Double clicked .zip - Opened Payload Folder - Right Click - Compress
    8. Used Application Loader and got "Application Failed Codesign Verification"
    I've read books, watched videos and none of them seem to mention a concrete step by step process of going from Flash CS5 to the App Store. I have a feeling my Distribution profiles/certificates are the problem, but I can't find a solid resource to show me how to make them that actually works. Thank you so much to anyone who can help me, after 2 weeks of this I'm pretty tired of Apple.

  • Interaction between InDesign and Flash CS5

    To all the InDesign/Flash users: I have a question for you...
    I've been asked something by a client: He would like to add a Google Analytics on a Flash file to track users. He cannot do it in the HTML ('cause he only creates the .swf file and doesn't have access to the HTML file), so he needs to do it in the .fla file. He has found the ActionScript code to do so, but there's a problem...
    From InDesign, he needs to export as .swf, because he wants to have the Page Curl effect (and I think some other features also) that he looses if he exports to .fla.
    The .swf alone works well. But as soon as we try to import it in Flash (in another .fla), it looses all it's attributes/codes and just import the layout (that keeps moving from page to page)...
    If I open it in a decompiler (SWF Decompiler), it shows me there is some ActionScript code, but even then, if I decompile it and export it as a .fla, when I open I loose all the interactions (like the imported .swf).
    It's the first time I see something like that. What does InDesign do to the .swf file? How can we solve that problem?
    Any help will be welcomed (I'm not a InDesign user...).

    Turn off the editable text option when importing the PSD into Flash to convert them to images. If keeping the text editable is important then you will have to re-create the look using Flash's life effects. It's a completely different thing from PS...

  • Unable to load external image into iOS app with AS3

    Just trying out Flash Builder for iOS app development and have run into a problem right off the bat with loading an external image into an iOS app.  The actionscript is very simple (this was basically my Hello World attempt), and I'm hoping someone here can explain where I'm going wrong.  This code works in Flash Pro, and works when launched on the desktop from Flash Builder, but doesn't work on my iOS devices.
    Here's the code:
                                  var container:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
                                  addChild(container);
                                  var imageLoader:Loader = new Loader();
           imageLoader.load(new URLRequest("http://www.google.ca/intl/en_ALL/images/logos/images_logo_lg.gif"));
                                  imageLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, startListener);
      function startListener (e:Event):void{
                                                 container.addChild(imageLoader);
    Any thoughts on why this won't work would be greatly appreciated!

    I had the same issue, and modified my domain policy file as specified  in http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/fplayer9_security.html#_Configuring_URL_M eta-Policies but the loader is not loading the file. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

  • How to use Event Tracking Code for Google Analytics in Dreamweaver CS5

    I need to track clicks on links that go to an outside website. I've read about "event tracking code". I'm not sure if it's the right tool to use. And if it is, I've spent several hours reading about it and I can't figure out how to use it. It looks like you need to be an expert developer to be able to make sense of all this. I've always been helped when I ask a question here, I'm hoping that someone can help me.
    What my client needs is to know what links are being clicked, and how often. Here's the page where I want to do this: Available Homes - Arizona Vacation Home Rentals
    I added a code that I created using the tool I found here: General Event Tracking Code for Google Analytics but can't see to be able to make this work. I added this code to the first link called "View it Here" for the top, left house. Here's the code: <a href="http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p3495538" onClick="ga('send', 'event', { eventCategory: 'clicks', eventAction: 'clicks on homes', eventLabel: 'Clicked'});" target="_blank">View it HERE!</a>
    Then I set a Goal in Google Analytics like it said in the instructions but it doesn't seem to work... I would APPRECIATE ANY HELP!
    Thanks,
    Brigitte

    I think you misunderstood what Event Tracking is designed for.  This is from Google Help
    Tracking Code: Event Tracking - Google Analytics — Google Developers
    "Use this to track visitor behavior on your website that is NOT related to a web page visit, such as interaction with a Flash video movie control or any user event that does not trigger a page request."
    Clicks on links are page requests.  I think for your purposes, you may want the Cross Domain Link Tracking plugin.

  • Flash CS5.5 or CS6 creating an interactive ebook /app for IOS

    I'm in middle ground here as I'm able to create a simple app for IOS using CS5.5 and was wondering if I'm able to create an interactive IBook ( which is actually an app ) to know what I mean if you go to the Apple Book Store and download the free "Beatles" Yellow Submarine you will see the interactivity.
    When I write middle ground I mean I just finished downloading CS6 and looking at some tutes so if this is possible, which I know I can get the interactivity but its just putting it in book form that I was curious about.
    thx

    I misunderstood you, because I'm not english speaker. But I will try to answer..
    You develop 1 app. This app will include all that you wants. Page - it's just object. Each object can contain another objects. Like a tree and leafs. So you simply make 1 page with any animations. Page 2 with any animations and etc and combine this to one APP.
    Here is the link, you can get free 8 pages. Will be good if you can spent $1.99  =)))

    If you don't have iPad - here is a Russian video review http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=rXb2jswoz0Y
    This all done using Adobe Flash CS5.5 and Exported to Adobe Air, than published to AppStore.

  • How to make an air for ios enterprise distribution Flash CS5.5?

    Hi, There seems to be only:
    Quick publishing for device testing
    Quick publishing for device debugging

    How does one do Deployment for in-house Enterprise Apps from Flash CS5.5 with AIR for iOS?

    maweibezahn,
    The plist in step 2 is created so you can download the app onto the device.  This file stands alone, and does NOT need to be included in the app package, but it does need to reside in the same spot on the web server.  Below is an example plist file for an app.  You then access the following link from mobile safari to install:
