Google Glass drops with 2500 wireless controller
We are trialing google glass in our healthcare environment and the glasses are dropping connection every 30 minutes network wide for about 10 seconds which breaks the data stream. Google glass is legacy G only radio and I have ap's with two slots 802.11b/g/n and 802 and 802.11a/n.
I've tried going custum mode on the individual ap to lock in a signal strength and channel and it still drops every 30 min.
Any Ideas?
Hey Jason,
There are 2 timers that are of interest to us.
1) Session timer -- This simply death the client at a set interval. The purpose of this is to rekey MSK/PMK key if doing 802.1X. But, as you seen, it can be disruptive.
2) Idle Timer -- Found under the controller tab towards the bottom. This timer is 300 seconds (5 minutes). This timer expires clients that haven't sent traffic in 5 minutes. This can be problematic for Apple iDevices because they don't chatter a lot. This becomes more apparent when you have a guest network with a AUP page. A guest user hits the page. Uses the wifi for a few minutes, puts down the iDevice and then 6 minutes later they go to use the wireless and get the popup again. Cisco has a sleeping client as a work around.
Hope this helps. And thanks a bunch for supporting the rating system ..

Can't add my new license on my cisco 2500 wireless controller
hello,
i already have 25 license installed on my Cisco 2500 wireless controller.
but when i need add my new bundle license, i can't see him on my admin panel.
i following this steps for installing my new license :
1- i go on WLC panel
2- management => software activation => commands
3- i select "install license"
4- i setting a correct path
5- when i clic on "install license", i can see two following message : "File transfer operation started" and "Installation Process Completed ". but when i go on "licenses" i can't see
tanks for helpHi Serge,
In case you have another license installed on the controller with higher license than the one that you are installing, then the license installation will fail.
In case you want to install a new license with higher number of AP count, then you can install it, then save and reboot the controller.
Also I noticed when you install a new license and the summation of the previously installed license and the newly installed license is exceeding the max allowed AP count on the controller, then the installation will fail.
In such scenario, deactivate the current license by making the evaluation license priority to high, then after that install the new license and then change the priority to medium and make the evaluation license to low in addition to the previous license.
Kind Regards

I am trying to get an AP to associate with a wireless Controller but keep getting this error message (%CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG:Could not resovle CISCO-CAPWAP-CONTRPLLER)
I can ping through to the WLC and the AP.Thanks a lot Loe for the Feedback. The issue was not my configuration but rather the type of Wireless LAN controller I have, the WLC does not support my AP's. I have a Cisco 520 series WLC and got to know they only work with the 500 series AP's. my AP's are 1130 series meaning i have to get another controller or change the APs.
thanks once again.. -
Managing remote C800 with the wireless controller
We have a number of regional offices throughout the country with a C800 as the Internet facing router and it is also our wireless.
We have a Cisco wireless controller in the Data Center an we need to manage\monitor all the C800, but the problem is that those remote sites
are not VPN'd nor part of our WAN network.
Which setup do you

1) 1) WLC to monitor the C800 using its public IP address
1) 2) Create a VPN tunnel from each of the remote sites to our data center and only allow wireless to go through for mgmt purposes
anany other options?
TFirst question is which 800 do you have ? there's like 20 different versions out there.
If you talk about WLC, I would suppose you have something like the 880 ?
I'm afraid the WLC will need the internal AP ip address. So you would need to do so reverse nat to direct public ip address tarffic on capwap ports to the internal AP.
This or the VPN tunnel.

Airnet 1130AG with no wireless controller?
Hi All,
We have recently moved into an office that has these wireless routers scattered around all running back to the comms room.
Is there any way of connecting these to our switch without a wireless controller? all we want to do is set them up with a wireless key and allow company access is this something that can be done easily?
Hope to hear from you all soon!Hello Shaun,
As per your query i can suggest you the following solution-
Yes. You can configure each AP as autonomous.
Configure the bridge group in the wireless interface with the bridge group dot11radio interface command.
This is an example.
AP# configure terminal
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
AP(config)# interface Dot11Radio0.1
Ap(config-subif)# encapsulation dot1q 1 native
Ap(config-subif)# bridge group 1
ap(config-subif)# exit
2.Configure the bridge group with the same bridge group number ("1" in this example) in the Fast Ethernet interface so that VLAN 1 traffic is passed across the wireless interface to this wired side and vice versa.
Ap(config)# interface fastEthernet0.1
Ap(config-subif)# encapsulation dot1q 1 native
Ap(config-subif)# bridge group 1
Ap(config-subif)# exit

Hi!
I try to configure a Cisco 5508 Wireless controller and 25 Air-lap1041 to use as VoIP and data. I read documents, manuals, etc, but the AP doesn't charge the configuration, or not conect with the Wireless Controller, why? No Radius server present, only WPA security.howto, please...
I try to put a static ip in the LAP, with lwapp or capwap command, (LWAPP/CAPWAP ap ip address direccion mascara) and the AP returns "You should configure Domain and Name Server from controller CLI/GUI." and i can't change the name of the AP (Command is disabled).

Hola:
I buy a gigabit switch. I connect the service-port to gigabit switch, and laptop to gigabit switch. I used 192.168.1.x ip address (192.168.1.157 to service-port and 192.168.1.233 to wired port on laptop, well, the laptop has two ip adress, 192.168.1.233 and 209.165.200.2, and the laptop works ok. Ping to 209.165.200.230 -ip address of management interface- and ping to 209.165.200.203 -ip address for AP, is assigned by DHCP of WLC. And i connect the ap to gigabit switch, and the wlc assigns well an ip direction.
I post the run-config and sysinfo log. The gigabit switch is tp-link model tl-sg1005d, no configuration.
Before the logs, I see this message from AP:
*Apr 19 23:10:20.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: This AP is not supported in controller
version 6.0.199.4 ---->What's mean that? Is it compatible the ap with the WLC? ¿Es compatible el AP con el WLC?
Hola:
He comprado un switch gigabit.
*Apr 19 23:10:20.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: This AP is not supported in controller
version 6.0.199.4 ---->What's mean that? Is it compatible the ap with the WLC? ¿Es compatible el AP con el WLC?

Cisco 2504 wireless controller forget username and password
hi,
i just want to ask how i can do password recovery with my wireless controller without erasing the configurationWhen you first configure the controller and reboot, you will see an option to recover the password. This is a one time option and if the controller has been up and rebooted a few times, then the only other way to change or add another user so you can login is with Prime Infrastructure and the use of snmp. You can download that and install that in ESXi 5.5 and get an eval license. Or you can dig around and search for an smnp mib that will change it. That piece I don't know about:)

WAP321 & Aironet 2602e & 2504 Wireless Controller?
Hello,
I am new to Cisco networking. I am currently in an environment with no Wireless Controller and the wifi uses two Cisco WAP321's. The company wants to expand the wireless and has bought a Cisco 2504 Wireless Controller and a Cisco Aironet 2602e Controller-based WAP. My question is once we start using the controller can it control the formerly controller-less WAP321's or will that have to be replaced with another Cisco Aironet 2602e? Thank you.My question is once we start using the controller can it control the formerly controller-less WAP321's
WLC 2504 will not support AP321s. Talk to your authorized Cisco reseller and see if they will accept if you trade-in the AP321 for the AP 2602.
Make sure your AP 2602 have the correct regulatory domain. If you are un-sure DO NOT open the boxes.
For more information, go here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/wireless/ps5679/ps5861/product_data_sheet0900aecd80537b6a_ps10981_Products_Data_Sheet.html
Another thing, for AP 2600, your 2504 should have the minimum firmware of 7.2.110.X. IF you don't have it, then talk to the authorized Cisco reseller who sold you the controller and kindly ask them (nicely) if they could download the correct firmware for you. -
I am currently using wireless Controller 4400 series with IDS. However i did not see anything on the stunned list under wireless protection policies. I have enabled most of the standard signature that associated with the Wireless Controller. What did i miss out?
Here is the URL for the integration guide for the Cisco Wireless Controllers and IDS. Follow the steps as per guide it may help you :

Reproduce animation using wireless controller
Hi people,
im trying to get a programming code to can use a my wireless controller to can move in my animation. i know that i have to configure keyboard with my wireless controller, but i dont know how...
please someone can help me!the only implementation I toyed around some time ago was WiiFlash
which gives wireless control over your app.
So if you need support for any other specific controller (like an xbox/ps3 controller) you have to look for a framework that does that for you. -

My wife has an iphone 3 running 4.2.1 (I think thats as high as it can go?) and every two seconds it drops the wireless connection, then reconnects for 2 seconds. I'm using Plusnet wireless and my iphone 4 connects fine to it. Anyone got any ideas?
If no change after resetting network settings on the iPhone and/or after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup and if the same with different wi-fi networks the iPhone has access to, there is a hardware problem with the wireless card or with something else.

Wireless Controller 2504 with CAP1702i
I have installed and configure Cisco 2504 wireless controller. Also attached a AP(AIR-CAP1702i) in PoE port. But it's not showing in controller and also not showing SSID.
Please suggest.Searching WLANs
You can search for specific WLANs in the list of up to 512 WLANs on the WLANs page. This feature is especially useful if your WLANs span multiple pages, preventing you from viewing them all at once.
To search for WLANs using the controller GUI, follow these steps"
Step 1 On the WLANs page, click Change Filter. The Search WLANs dialog box appears (see Figure 7-4).
Figure 7-4 Search WLANs Dialog Box
Step 2 Perform one of the following:
•To search for WLANs based on profile name, select the Profile Name check box and enter the desired profile name in the edit box.
•To search for WLANs based on SSID, select the SSID check box and enter the desired SSID in the edit box.
•To search for WLANs based on their status, select the Status check box and choose Enabled or Disabled from the drop-down list.
Step 3 Click Find. Only the WLANs that match your search criteria appear on the WLANs page, and the Current Filter field at the top of the page specifies the search criteria used to generate the list (for example, None, Profile Name:user1, SSID:test1, Status:disabled).
Note To clear any configured search criteria and display the entire list of WLANs, click Clear Filter. -
Wireless Controller 5508 dropping MAC Addresses
Our 5508 Wireless Controller will drop MAC addresses clean out of the system. Addresses that are in use everyday just disappear. It is not a limitation issue because we are adding iPads everyday. And it is not a daily occurance, but maybe once or twice a week. Has anyone come accross this issue? Everything has been updated and it is more of a hassle than anything, I am just trying to understand what is happening.
Shannon,
can you be a bit more specific, when you say it's dropping mac addresses?
is that from the user list? the macfilter? -
Cisco 5508 Wireless Controller with Splash Page Disclaimer
How do one configure a splash disclaimer page on a Cisco Wireless Controller 5508 with no authentication?
JimmyThere are many options to you in this scenario, but if you're looking to simply provide a splash page via the WLC without interacting with any other web servers, you can configure Local Web Authentication (LWA) as seen in this configuration example.
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless-mobility/wlan-security/69340-web-auth-config.html?referring_site=RE&pos=1&page=http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless-mobility/wlan-security/71881-ext-web-auth-wlc.html
If you are not wanting the authentication, you can choose the "passthrough" method which will not require any credentials, only accepting an AUP or whatever you want.
