GOS will be restarted when LUN path failover

I'm a tester and I was requested to test the compatibility between our storage and oracle VM (v2.2).
There are 4 paths for each LUN. I use device-mapper as a multipath tool and run "port block" case on switch. But when 2 paths down and failover to another 2 paths, sometime the guest os will be restarted. Could anyone the me the reason and how can I solve the problem. Thank you very much for your help. Following it the log.

I see that you need to have ALUA enabled. I don't need that in my config, pls check the following link, it may contain useful info for ALUA:
[http://wiki.oracle.com/page/Oracle+VM+Server+Configuration-+multipathed+SAN+storage|http://wiki.oracle.com/page/Oracle+VM+Server+Configuration-+multipathed+SAN+storage]
Apart from that, you could maybe first of all increase the "no_path_retry" in your multipath.conf. I have 18 in my config, maybe a failover takes longer than 5 retries to be "catched".
In my modprobe.conf I have qla2xxx too, despite my HBA is a QMH2492, but probably the driver is the same. Anyway, I have this line in addition to what you have:
options qla2xxx ql2xmaxqdepth=16 qlport_down_retry=10 ql2xloginretrycount=30(it's the last line in the file).
Pls note that adding that "options" thing MAY lead to having a non-booting system if the parameters are wrong: check everything and do any modifications on your responsibility! If it doesn't work you need to boot in rescue mode and fix the file. It SHOULD, I repeat SHOULD be ok, but be careful.
Finally: I post MY multipath.conf, as I see I have a few options that do not appear in your config.
I took my values from the storage Vendor's recommended values (HP 2012FC). Maybe it can be somehow of help. But I think the most probable reason of your intermittent issue would be the "no_path_retry", as I said.

  • Mac Mini will not restart when told to

Hello everyone, I'm having a bit of trouble with my Mac in terms of restarting. Occasionally, and mostly after it hasn't been turned off in quite some time, I will hit restart from the Apple logo and once clicking the "Yes I do want to restart it" box, nothing happens.
This has happened quite a few times and I will usually get so frusterated that I'll yank the power cord from the back and turn it on from there. I don't know exactly what's causing this problem, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's sometimes the case that if a Mac won't sleep or shut down, it's because it is running something that it can't interrupt.
First thing I'd look at is Activity Monitor (in the applications/utilities folder). With this running so you can see all the processes the system is running, try shutting down, and then watching Activity Monitor to see if any process is actively loading the CPU.
Let us know what that shows.

anyone have same issue like me?

No problems exists with the router (on either network described above) or the multiple AppleTV's which are able to mirror multiple other OSX & iOS devices seamlessly. The problem is strictly with the iPad and iOS7.

Re: AirPlay with AirServer connectivity problem
    Oct 14, 2013 9:43 AM (in response to ceb2652)
This is an iOS 7 AirPlay mirroring bug...
To make matters worse, the iPad automatically drops its mirroring session 45 seconds after it auto-locks.
3-4 mirroring sessions is all it takes for the iPad mirroring to freeze up.
After this happens, mirroring to an Apple TV only projects a blank screen.
Once the mirroring is hung, the only way to fix it is to restart the iPad.
Apple please fix this iOS 7 issue!

  • Windows will not restart properly when iPod is Connected!

Please help...I am running Windows XP and i have a 5th Gen iPod. My computer will not restart when I have my iPod connected to my computer, it starts then after a few seconds it just goes to a blank screen. Yet if I unplug my iPod my compter will restart correctly. What is the problem?

Reboot the computer. On the very first screen you see, probably a manufacturers name or something similar, it should tell you a button to hit to enter your BIOS or setup. It is generally the delete key, F10, or ESC although it is possible it is something different so look for a section that tells you what button.
Hit that button a couple of times until you enter the setup area. Once there look for an option somewhere of changing the boot order. It will give you options of which devices to boot from first. Such as harddrive, cdrom, floppy, usb, etc. If it is set to boot the usb before the harddisk, just change the order around so that usb is after the harddisk.

  • Centro restarts when navigating through photos

I purchased my Centro a couple of months ago.  Recently, the Centro has been restarting when navigating through photos I've taken using the Centro's camera.  It will also restart when I try to save a photo that has been sent to me via text message, or when I try to send a photo via text message.  I have cleaned out my previous text messages and deleted the message backup file on my computer.  I've also tried a soft reset and a system reset, but the same thing keeps happening.  As an aside, my husband bought his centro at the same time and he is not experiencing these issues.  Is there anything I can do, short of taking the phone back to Verizon?
    Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
Well, there are several things that can cause the device to reset.
One, corrupted data. If you have corrupted data on the device, when trying to access it, it can and most likely will, cause the device to reset.
Two, Low memory. If the device has low memory, the device will operate slow and most likely reset because it doesn't have a lot of free space. The free space remaining on the device is it's thinking room you could say. The smaller the thinking margin, the more likely it will not perfrom correctly. Best way to fix memory issues is to get an SD card and save all media files to the SD card.
Three, incompatible software. If there is incompatible 3rd party programs installed on the device this can cause several problems. Resets, missing data, and other functions not performing correctly.
The best thing I can recommend you do is a hard reset. A hard reset will erase all data on the device but restore all settings to default. Be sure to backup your data on a PC before performing a hard reset. For further information and instructions on how to do a hard reset go to kb.palm.com and look up article number 42094 in the solution ID search field.
I hope this helps and let me know if you have any further questions or issues.

  • I'm running Firefox 3.6.13. Add-ons say will be installed when Firefox is restarted but they don't install. What is the problem?

I also have a few add-ons that aren't compatible with my current version of Firefox, and they say they will be un-installed when Firefox restarts, but they still stay on the add-ons list.

Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.
    See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button (in Firefox 4: right-click the extension -> "Find Updates") to do a compatibility check.

  • LR 4.4.1 crashing on iMac osx 10.8.5 when using exposure and shadows sliders. Will not restart with out resetting surge protector. Worked perfectly for 1.5 years with upgrades to 4.4

    Hello,
Thanks for any help you may have. LR 4.4 worked perfectly on iMac 27' OSX 10.8.5 for 1.5 years until October this year when shut downs began when making adjustments on primarily exposure and shadow sliders. Unit would not restart unless rebooting surge protector(s) after 10-15 minute wait. Apple replaced main board and cleared disc. Back-up and LR 4 reloaded and updated to 4.4.1. New surge protection or direct into receptacle makes no difference and shutdown happens immediately upon slider movement. Any suggestions or self checks an old guy can possibly do? It is Educator/student version.

Hello and thanks for the reply.
The entire computer shuts down and will not restart without a reset of the new (and previous) surge protector or if plugged directly to the wall receptacle anywhere from 30 minute to overnight reset before on button restart will work. Other than slider adjustments on LR, it has only shut down one other time when loading photos via USB 3.0 cable to LR. All images from camera are in RAW. Apple tried to replicate this earlier this week with LR but could not read anything other than an increased usage on one of the diagnostic meters when the sliders were moved quickly from side to side.
Other computer functions are normal and rarely used except for e-mail, web search, and 90% LR. Plenty of memory in reserve.
Considering two upgrades (1) LR 5 to get new camera profiles (Pentax K-3)
(2)Yosemite OSX if it would help the LR4.4 or LR5 actually behave
Hope this helps illustrate the dilemma and thanks for your support.
