Got my system 100% stable.

Well, after going though 3 motherboards,2 cpus,2 types of memory, 2 power supplies, I now got my system 100% stable.
What through me off, if the system would run more stable at command rate 2 , and with 1 dimm installed and higher ddr voltage, So , I thought it was a memory problem, so I got a better power supply, the power supply helped, but didnt cure my problem, so I tried corsair memory and it didnt fix it ether.
I tired every setting and driver possible and nothing helped.
All this time, it turned out to be my Built by Ati radeon 9800.
The card it self is fine and works in other systems.
I just got a BFG 6800NU and it works great"not a single crash after hours of testing".
I am now running my memory at command rate 1T with only 2.6 volts stable.
My last motherboard"the gigabyte k8ns pro, which also used the nforce3 250 chip" had the same problem.
Seems, ati cards and Nforce3 250 chips dont mix well.
Anyway, to make a long story short here is my working system.
Athlon64 3200 newcastle"shows the right temps since bios 1.43"
Thermalright 948u, with 92mm delta fan.
K8n platinum.
2x512 double sided dimms"corsair xms twinx1024-3200c2pt rev 1.3, 2.6 volts
Command rate 1T 2.5,3,3,6.
BFG 6800" newest drivers and directx 9c

Hitachie 160GB SATA drive
Enermax 465 12 volt rail 33a

Thankyou Kaspars_B
I always thought it was 22 amps but after looking inside the case your right, it is 28 amps
Have fixed sig now.

Can I run my MacBook Pro Late 2008 without battery forever? Is it bad in long term or anything? Does it make the system less stable?
My battery got swollen (and I unfortunately noticed it very late and might have be running with it for months, which potentially explains all the crashes everyday and the trackpad not working anymore, the Apple test also says I have a bar of ram broken...) and I had to remove it because the back pannel did not close anymore... Can I still use my MBP normally forever that way? I was planning on buying a new mac anyway but maybe waiting for the next iMac upgrade in the year... Should I wait?

Other than the system shutting down instantly if you have a power outage, whcih could corrupt the OS. Nothing else bad will happen.

  • Root file system 100%

    Hi,
We are facing a proble in which our root file system is 100% because of a lot of directories being created in the /proc directory. These directories are created with numbers as their names.
    Please give some advice

1- It should be nothing to do with proc file system.
2- Somtimes backup command has an 'o' instead of a 0
(zero) in /dev/rmt/"0" and a file "o" is created in
    /dev/rmt that fills entire space.
3- If your slice is really large enough, use du -sh
/* command in case solaris 9 (du -sk for 8) to see
    which directories are taking space.
4- If you still find nothing and directory sizes
don;t seem to pose any problem, umount all filesstems
and then do a du -sh /*.
Remember, if you have a directory (say /export/home)
filled with stuff, and currently it is not mounted,
It consumes space from / filesystem. When it is
mounted later, the space shown by df -k would show
consumed space for entire Inode table. But du -sk
wont show those files. Indeed those are hidden untill
you unmount the physical slice from /export/homeI had root file system 100% used
I deleted all syslog and messages files, the best I could reclaim was 1%
I did "du -d / |more" to discover sizes of file that may be filling up root file system.
I discovered that in /dev/rmt the size was unusually very large about
    2.5GB
There was a file with file name "1" in /dev/rmt which was taking all the space
I did "rm -r 1" to removed the unwanted file and reclaimed 53% free space

  • Playing videos freezes the system, but 3D games are 100% stable

Since I have gotten this RMA'd motherboard back I have weird problems with it, even though the same components were used in the Msi K9a2 Platinum board without issues.
The problem is when playing certain videos on the net the system will ocasionally freeze and very rarely will even freeze when fast forwarding videos in KMPLAYER. I just get a black screen and the FAN on the GPU starts spinning at 100%.
this is a one of the videos that the problems sometimes happens when in full screen:
    http://talent.24ur.com/multimedia/oddaje/slovenija-ima-talent-7-oddaja.html
The weird thing about it is that I have run over night 3DMark 06 and Vantage, Memtest 86+, Intel Burn Test, OCCT all without errors. I can even play games such as GTA4, Far Cry 2, ... for hours without system crashing.
What I have tried so far:
reinstalled OS on the other drive
tried it with only 1 stick of RAM
    loaded bios failsafe defaults
    updated bios
increased voltages by a notch on everything
putted the GPU into the other PCI x16 slot
unplugged every non essential component from the PC
ps. needless to say everything is set to stock speed.
btw. This is the screenshot of the HWMONITOR with Orthos running in the background, check out the low voltage on the 3.3V and 12V rail. Is this normal?

Quote from: Bas on 07-May-10, 01:56:22
Download the video instead of viewing it online.
Online speed is never guaranteed to be stable.
    Also never heard of KMPLAYER.
what has that got to do with freezing the PC? KMPLAYER is a BSPLAYER alternative. The problem happens in BSPLAYER too.

  • 990FX-GD80 and FX-8350 System not Stable with Default Settings - BSOD or Lockup

    Bios = 11.13
    Ram = Viper 3 Series, DDR3 32GB (4 x 8GB) 2133MHz Quad Kit 1.5v
    Video = Geforce GTX460
    Power Supply = Corsair TX850M
    OS = Windows 7 x64
I had some issues setting up the OS initially and because the system drive was Raid 1, I needed to create a boot-able USB key to do the install.
When I installed the OS, I had an AMD Phenom II 1090 installed and bios version was 11.12.
I had a few BSODs during setup and after wards, but not too frequent.  I can't recall if I made many changes the bios at this time (possibly disabled C6 state and CoolnQuite).
When I had purchase the FX8350, the bios was upgraded prior to install the CPU being installed.
When the system booted, it failed during the windows experience index test.  Some times the test would crash at random points, or the system would freeze and even the
occasionally BSOD when the test made it to the CPU performance index.
I had tried the OC Gennie in the beginning too, but it did not work out.  The system would lockup while loading windows.
    Too bad.
I decided to shut off all power saving features in the bios and after that I still had some issues with the the Windows Experience Index test.
The system was much more stable when Turbo boost was disabled, but I still had the occasional lockup and BSOD under load (Fallout Vegas or Handbrake encoding media).
With the CPU Core voltage set to auto, and power saving disabled, the core voltage would read 1.288v under no load
and drop below 1.25 during the Windows Experience Index.
I have manually set the CPU voltage in bios.  Currently it is at 1.328 and measures 1.304 when the system is not loaded.
DDR3 Ram voltage is set to 1.58v and measures at 1.552.
I am using Open Hardware Monitor to get this info.  You need to enable hidden voltages to view the DDR3 voltage which is labeled Voltage #3.
Under load the CPU voltage drops to 1.288 and lower.
When I have been running Windows Experience Index, the CPU only seems to hit 75% maximum usage
during the CPU test while the CPU core voltage drops to 1.264.
I would like to over clock the system but I am concerned now.  The mother board is rated at 140w for the CPU and the CPU is
rated at 125W, and from what I have read, overclocking with this CPU would exceed the boards 140w rating.
Because of the fluctuating CPU Core voltages (with power saving features disabled) , I thought that the motherboard may have a fault
so sent it back to the vendor for replacement.  I now have a second board and it is performing the same as the first.
Older systems I have owned usually just worked, an so I am wondering what others are experiencing with this combination of
CPU and motherboard.  I am considering sending both CPU and motherboard back to vendor and switching to an Intel CPU.

    Improvement of what?
If you want to know the voltages for sure, then take a volt-meter and measure them.
The readings you see in software and BIOS are not much more then an indication at best.
It's not an checked and verified precision reading.
And yes, voltages fluctuate, if they don't your board is dead
Anybody with electronic skills will tell you this.
As for memory, you may want to read this: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_fx_8350_processor_review,3.html
The CPU supports 1866 DDR3, but what they never tell is that this is with 2 ranks per channel, ergo 1 double sided stick of 2 single sided sticks.
Have you tried running with 1333 or 1600? Because you have 4 large sticks it for sure can't do 2133 and I doubt it can sustain 1866.
This is not a board problem but CPU limitation.

  • Ntoskrnl.exe System %100 disk usage with windows 8.1. all the time!.

hello i am also having the %100 disk usage problem and am starting a thread to upload my etl. file and see if i can get a solution. thnx. i should also mention i have tried every suggestion i have read on the internet even ones that worked for other people
did not work for me i.e. (switching to high performance power plan, disabling cd drive, etc.) no matter what i try "system" is always utilizing 90%-100% of my hard drive and it is driving me crazy.
i can barely do anything on computer without it taking 10x times longer than it should. ive also run dskchk and boot time virus scans and malware scans. all to no avail. i have more than enough ram and a quad core cpu. when i first purchased my laptop it
was running windows 8 and was lightning fast once i upgraded to 8.1 i think is when the issue started occurring.
i am currently installing the windows assessment and deployment kit right now and will upload my etl. file to the skydrive asap.

In order to diagnose this problem please follow these instructions
Install the WPT (windows Performance Toolkit) http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/4847.install-the-windows-performance-toolkit-wpt.aspx ,
open a CMD prompt with administrative rights (right click it>run as admin) and run this command for 60 secs to capture the high HD usage:
xperf -on PROC_THREAD+LOADER+CSWITCH+FILENAME+FILE_IO+FILE_IO_INIT+DISK_IO+DISK_IO_INIT+DRIVERS+PROFILE -f kernel.etl -stackwalk Profile+CSwitch+DiskReadInit+DiskWriteInit+DiskFlushInit+FileCreate+FileCleanup+FileClose+FileRead+FileWrite -BufferSize 1024 -MaxBuffers 1024 -MaxFile 1024 -FileMode Circular && timeout -1 && xperf -d XperfSlowIOcir.etl*When complete, zip the trace & upload it to skydrive (or some other file sharing service) and put a link to it in your next post.

  • I've got a system 7.1 folder that contains a disk tools.image how can i put this on a floppy disk?

I got myself a PowerBook 165 that has a moved file in the system folder thats stopping it from booting up. I downloaded a system 7 disk tools.image off the internet but the only thing is that I don't know what to do know. I got a usb floppy drive that I use sometimes for my pc stuff but sice mac os 10.8 dosn't have support for HFS I can't copy the image on to the disk. I also have a imac from 2000 that can read HFS files and write them but when ever i try and use disk utility to copy the image over to the floppy disk it always gives me an error. Can someone please help me? I really want my PowerBook to work again.

Was that on the G3 iMac, under Mac OS 9.2 or 10.4?
Is StuffIt Expander installed and active? If so, you could check whether the StuffIt Expander preferences are set to mount images (choose not to instead).
Anyway, download the Network Access Disk 7.5 file (preferably when the machine is running Mac OS 9.2). Use StuffIt Expander to decode the MacBinary (.bin). The self-expanding archive (.sea) will probably open automatically (otherwise, double-click on the .sea file). Locate a Network Access.image file inside the resulting Network Access folder.
Now, try Disk Copy 4.2 under Mac OS 9.2. Do not double-click on the image file. Instead, launch the Disk Copy (4.2) program. Choose to Load Image File, and select and open the Network Access.image. Then, click on the Make A Copy button. It may or may not be possible to create a floppy this way through a USB drive.
If Disk Copy 4.2 does not work, try Disk Copy 6.3.3 (Mount Image under the Image menu) with the Network Access.image file. The mounted image will be called Network Access. Insert a floppy in the USB drive before you choose Make a Floppy from the Utilities menu in Disk Copy 6.3.3.
If the above does not work, again mount the Network Access.image file using Disk Copy 6.3.3. Open the mounted image (Network Access). Inside is a System Folder. Open this System Folder and remove all files from the three folders Apple Menu Items, Control Panels and Extensions (throw them into the Wastebasket/Trash, do not forget to empty the Wastebasket/Trash). The size of the System Folder is now somewhat smaller. Try to drag-copy the System Folder onto an empty (freshly Mac-formatted) 1.44 MB floppy disk in the USB drive. This may or may not work.
Otherwise, you may want to test the Mac OS X dd procedure (the LowEndMac article).
Alternatively, you may want to use an old Windows PC with a built-in floppy drive (and Aladdin/StuffIt Expander and WinImage).

  • I think my system is stable but....

If you look at my sig you'll see my memory.  One stick is LL and the other is XLL.  I ran memtest last night just to make sure that I won't get any more BSOD.  I ran it for one pass and no errors.  Is one pass all I need?
I then ran Prime95 for 7 hours while running 3DMark2001 for 4 hours and then ran Norton while Prime ran and still no BSODs.
Did I run MemTest86 enough?  Does this sound stable to you?

1t is faster but  usually runs better with low latency memory, it can therfore be considered more unstable, dependent on memory
    2T slower default setting.
Haven't got any benchmarks to hand so can't say offhand. Run sandra memory benchmark on 1t & 2t  & compare results.

  • [Eclipe SLI] 3 beeps at booting and D-LED2 gives CPU ini. (System looks stable)

    Intel core i7 920 D0 @2,66
    Msi Eclipse SLI Bios V1.4
    Cossair TR3XG1600C8D (3x2GB)
I have tested the mainboard 3 days without problems on a cardbox. Now have i build it in a case and the D-LED2 gives only CPU ini. at the POST.
During the POST the mainboard gives 3 short beeps and with the last beep you hear also the normal beep (that what you always get when the POST is OK). The beeps sounds like what you hear at the racetrack.
I have installed Vista during writing this topic and it looks like it is stable.
    Anyone knows what's wrong?

    Quote from: stevenv2 on 29-July-09, 07:14:16
I thought when not good seated, the board will not boot and you get a long beep.
That's what I meant by not work, no boot.
I also had some issues with the temp sensor not being plugged in properly.  The only CPU-ini code I have got so far is from a bad overclock.  Not sure what your settings are in the bios.  Maybe try to clear CMOS and see if it will pass CPU-ini.  Check the overclock dip switchs, I've bumped them before on accident.

  • Possible spotlight memory leak? CPU/python process taxes system 100%

Posted this on other thread previously with no replies...and have read others with same problem, yet nobody with any solutions....this process almost always kicks in every other day only when my system is in sleep/standby mode which makes me think of spotlight (yet didnt think ANY process should be running in sleep mode). Also when no applications are open. (Except Activity Monitor - Which I set to be a startup item to find my slowdown since this problem has been bugging me for so long now)
What it is, is "Python" process that is running taxes the system to 95-100% and wont stop until I force quit that process, then all is fine.
I'm not sure how to look at the logs etc like some of you mention in the previous posts, but feel free to let me know how and I'll surely try to help where I can.
I was wondering if upgrading to the new OS would fix the problem, or just compound it...perhaps have to do a clean install and wipe out all my files and aps to kill this one.. not sure how to find it...
I even thought, <gasp> some form of virus, yet have used various virus scan tools only to have clean results... so hopefully this is not the case... so what processes use python (if not many) and how can I pinpoint this? The system is almost locked down while the python process is running so real difficult to do anything except kill the process.
    Help!

And what should I be looking for in this log or what should the terminal command offer me if I do that as well... both I should try to do when this is happening?
It's normally easiest to pick it out when you have Console open and observe when you try to reproduce the problem, but there are many Logs there for many things.
familiar with cleaning up xp registries and startup processes... can I find something similar for mac?
I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files!
Disconnect the USB cable from any UPS so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

  • Got my iPhone $100 credit..

and spent my iPhone $100 credit!
    Apple is very smart!

The messed up thing is that I thought I could use the credit on iTunes over time as I buy music, audiobooks, etc., but noooooo, they won't let you use the credit for either iTunes or for the purchase of an iTunes gift card. Truly an empty promise. I purchased all of the needed iPhone accessories (docks, cases, adaptors) before the credit was announced! Now there is nothing else really relevant to buy from the Apple Store (retail or online) if they aren't going to let you use iTunes. I guess I could return the extra dock I bought and then re-buy it with the credit. Now, where is that receipt and packaging?? The only other things they sell for iPhone that I don't have are the crystal film and another one of those silly little adaptors you have to use for a car cassette device all b/c of the recessed jack on the iPhone. It shouldn't be this way, particularly with Apple.

  • I got given a $100 gift card and when i enter the code (making sure it is correct) it says its invalid

I recieved a $100 itunes giftcard for my birthday and when i try to enter it, it says its invaled!
ive tried many times making sure everything is correct but it doesnt work????

Was the gift card issued in the same country as your account is based ? They are only valid in their country of issue. If it was and this page doesn't help then you will need to try contacting iTunes support (you will need to give them the serial number and activation code from the card) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then iTunes Cards And Codes

at 213 i get errors in Super PI
at 210 i run Super PI and 3dmark04 fine.  havnt tested Prime95 yet.
