Great PDF-viewer: llpp Also, a question

I just discovered llpp in the AUR. It's a great PDF-viewer that is extremely fast and remembers where I quit the file (next time you open that pdf, it opens at the page that you left last time)
If I open files with SpaceFM everything works great. But, if I try to open from the terminal, it doesn't open files with names that contain spaces (which llpp DOES poen when started from SpaceFM). For instance, if I try to open a file named /home/foo/bar/Instructions for you car.pfd by typing  llpp /home/foo/bar/Instructions for you car.pfd then it won't open. llpp will complain that it did'nt find file /home/foo/bar/Instructions
Of course I could rename these files, either by hand or with a script, but this doesn't seem necessary, as I can open them when I start llpp with SpaceFM.
Question: any tips on how to open these sort of files from the terminal?   THANKS. Sorry for the verbosity.

Or you could just get rid of the spaces in the filenames with one simple shell command:
rename " " "_" *.pdf
This will replace all spaces with underscores in the file names.
Not exactly, it seems to replace only the first one:
$ touch "1 2 3.pdf"
$ ls
1 2 3.pdf
$ rename " " "_" *.pdf
$ ls
1_2 3.pdf
Let's run it again:
$ rename " " "_" *.pdf
$ ls
1_2_3.pdf
$ pacman -Qo rename
/usr/bin/rename is owned by util-linux 2.24.1-4

perl-rename can do it, but it uses a different syntax.

$ ls

  • PDF Viewer or Adobe Reader/QuickOffice Questions - PLEASE REPLY!

    Does the D Inc ship preinstalled with the "PDF Viewer" or Adobe Reader?
    Also, can you CREATE documents with Quickoffice, or does it only view doc/xls/ppt from attachments? I'm assuming you can also drag documents from the computer to the SD Card and view them on Quickoffice as well?
    Thanks!

    The Dinc with 2.1 had a pdf viewer but it was removed from the 2.2 update. You can download the Adobe pdf reader application from the Market for free.
    I believe that the QuickOffice installed on the Dinc is for viewing files only. The full paid version of QuickOffice has more options and is available on the market.
    Yes you can drag and drop documents into the sd card and they will be viewable by the QuickOffice application.

  • C# WINDOWS APP:  EMBED PDF VIEWER WITH FULL LIBRARY

    Here are my requirements:
    1) A PDF viewer that is embedded in a window in my windows app.
    2) I must be able to reference button_click events in the PDF from my windows app. (i.e. if i click a button in the PDF, the event occurs in my windows app.
    Pertaining to the above requirements:
    Here is what I've noticed so far. The Adobe Reader ActiveX works great at simply viewing PDF's and the buttons are shown too. However, I haven't found anything in the Reader library that allows me to reference the buttons in the PDF. This leaves the following questions.
    Possible Solutions: (need your help/recommendations)
    1) Can I use the Acrobat SDK to reference the document that is open inside my Adobe Reader ActiveX control? (If I can, then i can get a hold of my buttons and events). If I can do this, does anyone have any clue about the proper syntax? All of the the samples I've seen actually reference a document that acrobat opens, not the reader....
    2) Can I embed the Adobe Acrobat (not the reader) in my windows app in order to view the files? I haven't seen this done yet. Every example I've seen opens the acrobat in it's own window!!!
    3) Is there other software out there that offers both functionalities: 1) Embedded viewing window with 2) Full access to PDF library?
    Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated, as I have searched High, Low, and In Between for a solution.
    Thanks,
    jpc

    Patrick Leckey and Walker81,
    So, according to both of you, it is possible.  I have messed around with the buttons a little bit in acrobat enough to know that you can make a button that on click will run a javascript.  The problem is that I do not know any javascript, which is why i was trying to access it only with C#.  However, I am now receptive of the idea of learning at least a little java to get around in adobe (it seems unavoidable).  Any examples or pointers as to how to do this would be greatly appreciated.
    So for clarification:  Is the following statement correct?  If I have an Adobe Reader Active X control which opens the PDF, it is impossible for me to also reference that opened PDF as an acrobat object, thereby getting access to all of it's objects.
    From what I understand:
    -  I can put in the button field of my "template button" to call a certian javascript that is stored in the PDF, and this javascript can send information to my C# windows application.
    - I can embed acrobat (not reader) into my C# application with the MenuItem that Walker81 mentioned. (btw, i'm not concerned about the extra cost.  I really just need something that works)
    This brings about a question though:  If I can embed acrobat in my Windows App, then what keeps me from accessing the button fields through that avenue?  (I think the adobe SDK has an example of fields being accessed - things like text boxes being filled in and junk).  So would it be possible to create a buttonclick_event of all of the buttons in the PDF at runtime through adobe's library by looping through all of the fields and declaring a buttonclick event???  I'll look into it, because being able to access a field and being able to make an event from one can be two different animals I guess...
    Thanks for the responses, and I will look up and mess around with the methods you described and try to make them work from my limited knowledge.  If anyone has any example code they'd like to share to get me started on this, it would be helpful.  I understand there's something called a document level function or something like that in adobe.  I'm assuming you're saying that the button would call this function, and that this function would reference my windows app.  I will look at this some more and try to follow up on here.  I can't imagine that i'm the only person trying to do this..

  • PDF View "Render document failed"

    I've done quite a bit of looking around, and can't seem to find any fix for preventing a "render document failed" error message when opening certain pdfs (it looks like the discussion of this problem has really died down over the past year or so). I contacted HP's Palm support, but all they did was tell me that it was a known problem and that the engineering department was working on it. When I asked for possible work-arounds, they didn't have any (other than suggesting a pdf-to-word online converter, which does not allow my necessary zooming or landscape rotation). They also couldn't explain why the new TouchPad can open multiple pdfs at once (of different types- even pdfs with comic book graphics), but the Palm Pre Plus can't.
    Or is there some trick to manipulating the pdf so that it will render? I've tried reducing the file size, flattening the images, removing metadata, making it compatible with all sorts of earlier versions of Acrobat, and making it a "read only" file, but nothing's seemed to work. A 28 MB file will open just fine and allow me to read ALL of it (along with zooming and the landscape rotation using PDF Redux), but another 8 MB file gives me that "Render document failed" error message.  I'd appreciate any suggestions (or a fully functional pdf viewer on this "business" smartphone)!

  • Starting PDF Viewer with file

    Hi, I want use the PDF Viewer (CL_GUI_PDFVIEWER) to display a pdf file without having to open it manually.
    The demo program SAP_PDF_VIEWER_DEMO works well. It opens the PDF Viewer in place, you can zoom and print the file. And you can disable buttons (we don't want the files to be saved and we don't want the user to display different files).
    The problem is you have to select the file manually. If I user 'open_document' at the end of PBO to transmit the file while starting the program, the command is being ignored.
    My question: Does anyone has a tip for me?
    Thanks in advance yours Johannes

    Hi
    If you look with se24 in the class cl_gui_pdf_viewer and you look for method constructor. You will see this code:
    method CONSTRUCTOR.
      data: clsid(80) type c.
    --- if it is Win32 ... ---
      if activex = 'X'.
        clsid = 'PDF.PdfCtrl.1'.
    - if it is PlatinGUI ...-
      elseif javabean = 'X'.
        exit.
    --- if it WebGUI ---
      elseif www_active = 'X'.
        exit.
    --- unknown GUI type
      else.
        exit.
      endif.
    --- call the super-constructor ---
      call method super->constructor
        exporting
          clsid             = clsid
          shellstyle        = shellstyle
          parent            = parent
    Put your self a break point and change the value of
        clsid = 'PDF.PdfCtrl.1'.
    to
        clsid = 'PDF.PdfCtrl.5'.
    if your are lucky it will work afterwards.
    perhaps you also can try
        clsid = 'PDF.PdfCtrl.6'.
    but I am not sure if this will help you. With 5 it was working on my PC this activeX control was existing. If version 6 ever existed, I dont know.
    If the debugging works then make a copy and change it for real.

  • Download interrupted during pdf viewing

    Specs of my machine that can reproduce the issue:
    - Windows 7 Pro x64 - All updates applied
    - Acrobat reader 11.0.10
    - Using Internet Explorer 11 (11.0.9600.17633)
    There are two specific PDF files on our website (www.sigmaproducts.com) that cannot be downloaded by any of our customers using Adobe Reader. During loading of the file (you can the see the download progress inside the Adobe Reader), it stalls fairly early in the loading stages. Adobe Reader appears to remain in that state afterward requiring the task manager to end the IE session. All but 2 of the PDF files located in SIGMA Corporation - Product Downloads can be downloaded without trouble. The 2 PDFs that cause issues:
    http://www.sigmaproducts.com/catalogs/valance/Sigma%20Valance%20Systems.pdf
    http://www.sigmaproducts.com/catalogs/panel_radiator/Sigma%20Radiator%20Konvector%20Catalo gue_web.pdf
    If you right click the links and save target as and then open the files with the viewer, it works so it confirms the PDFs are in working order
    If we try to use other PDF viewers in the browser, it also works. Chrome also works since it uses it's built-in PDF viewer
    The two files in question were by Adobe products (InDesign if I recall).
    I would like to think this is an isolated issue but we had hundreds of complaints from customers unable to download our catalogues.

    Considering how re-producible this issue is, there must be a fix that can be applied. IE will download the file if you "save as" so why is the streaming from IE to Adobe with these specific files generated by In-design cause issues? Should this be submitted as an issue to Adobe?  If so, where is this done?
    We've tried re-saving the files and pushing them again but the issue remains.

    after upgrading to 1.4 my PDF viewer will not expand.  when i do the "two finger swipe" i get the little circle, which confirms that it is reading the gesgter, but it will not expand.  Its doing this with the same PDFs that i was able to open before the upgrade.  Also will not work with a MS Word document.

  • PDF Viewer zooms toolbar on Ctrl-Shift-=

    In the builtin PDF viewer, Ctrl-"-" and Ctrl-"=" are used for zooming. However Ctrl-Shift-"=" seems to be interpreted by firefox and zoomes the page it displays as a whole, including the PDF toolbar.
    The variants without shift work as expected also change the zoom value displayed in the PDF toolbar, the variant with shift does not.
    This is somewhat annoying, it would be great if the behaviour could be consistent.

    I've never noticed the Ctrl+Shift variants. Are these a UI convention on Linux?
    I'm not sure how to submit a suggestion for the PDF viewer. Fixing the Ctrl+ variants was done in the underlying project, which has an issues list here: [https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/issues]. But it might be that Mozilla can plug the gap until that gets addressed there.
    ''Edit: This isn't actually on the issues list yet as far as I can tell.''

  • PDF viewer bug/ v1.4.5

    This is still not fixed. Try this- open a PDF, zoom in on an area and wait for the Pre to autooff. When you resume, the PDF viewer has crashed.. There is a spinning circle in the top right corner and if you enter a new page number, the total page count disappears.
    Also, when are we going to get an app that uses the accelerometer? My Nokia and Samsung terminals rotate the screen when you move the phone.. maybe its me, but I don't consider this an option these days, it's basic functionally. Only the browser app works in panorama.. With PDFs and the tiny screen, you need to zoom and the extra width would really useful.
    Finally, with a touch phone, you kind of expect to be able to swipe to the next page or back a page. Instead, you still have to hit an arrow..
    Post relates to: Pre p100ueu (Movistar)

    To confirm, no this problem has not been fixed on WebOS 2.0, but that's because it's not a WebOS problem. All of the apps from WebOS 1.4 were merely ported for 2.0 for usability with the new version, so any bugs appearing in the 1.4 version are sure to show in the 2.0 version as well.
    On a side note: it would also be possible for some bugs to appear in the 2.0 version that aren't in the 1.4 version, so perhaps Palm hasn't fixed the problem yet because they are trying to find a resolution that works for both versions.
    P.S.: The accelerometer works on the following native apps: Web, Clock, Camera, Photos, Videos, Facebook, QuickOffice, and Help. I do agree, though, that there should be more use of it since the compass is being included in the Pre3. Why have such extras built into the phone if support for this hardware is not there? (Rhetorical question unless someone from Palm/HP cares to answer it)

  • Windows Forms with ActiveX PDF viewer steals focus when LoadFile called

    I've been very frustrated with the PDF viewer. I currently have the Acrobat Reader 8.1.2 installed and I've created an extremely simple app that has a main window with two additional child windows that are owned by the main window. I've also set a timer to periodically load the same file over and over (to show the focus issue).
    My problem is that if Child1 is currently in Focus, and the timer on Child2 goes off and calls LoadFile(...), then for some reason Child2 steals the focus and comes to the front of the app.
    My Sample Visual Studio 2008 Windows Form code here:
    //Main Window code that creates Child1 and Child2 that have the ActiveX
    //component on them
    namespace PDFViewerStealingFocusIssue
    public partial class MainWindow: Form
    public MainWindow() {
    InitializeComponent();
    private void MainWindow_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) {
    PDFViewerStealingFocusIssue.PDFViewer viewer = new PDFViewer();
    viewer.Text = "Child1";
    viewer.timer1.Interval = 4000;
    viewer.Show(this);
    viewer = new PDFViewer();
    viewer.Text = "Child2";
    viewer.timer1.Interval = 5500;
    viewer.Show(this);
    //in my child window:
    namespace PDFViewerStealingFocusIssue
    public partial class PDFViewer : Form
    public PDFViewer() {
    InitializeComponent();
    private void Form2_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) {
    private void timer1_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e) {
    axAcroPDF1.LoadFile(@"C:\test.pdf");
    //axAcroPDF1.src = @"C:\test.pdf";
    I'd appreciate if anyone has a workaround for stopping this annoying behavior.
    Jeff Braun ([email protected])

  • Set preview as default PDF viewer

    Hello,
    I downloaded the update for Adobe Reader and during installation, it over-rode my choice to use Preview as my default PDF viewer in Safari.  I've searched high and low and tried to change this from both Safari's preferences and Adobe Reader's preferences.  Unfortunately, the section to "click" in Adobe is grayed out and will not allow me to deselect it.  I also tried uninstalling Adobe Reader, but that just caused Safari to not open any PDF documents.
    Any thoughts on how to correct this are greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Eden

    Right or control click a PDF file you already have on your hard drive then click Get Info.
    Click the pop up menu next to: Open with
    Choose Preview from the menu or navigate to the Applications folder and select Preview from there.
    Then click: Change All

  • Acrobat Ignore "Set as default PDF Viewer" Setting

    Hello,
    I see from previous posts that this has been an issue for a while. I have an image that contains Adobe Reader. That image is deployed to all users. Some users get Acrobat Pro. also. So I went thru the whole customization tool and selelcted "Make Acrobat the default PDF viewer" and am using the Setup.ini and .MST file. Everything else works - skips EULA, reads serial number - everything but making Acrobat Pro the default PDF reader. After I install it and launch it for the first time I am presented with the "make Acrobat reader your default PDF viewer" question. How can I set this once and for all and not prompt every single user?

    Unfortunately there is no option post installation with Acrobat 8 to change PDF ownership. However this is possbile Acrobat 10 onwards. But yYou can choose to make Reader XI the default PDF handler during installation itself.
    1. Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs, select the entry "Adobe Reader XI" and Un-install.
    2. Then visit link : http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ and choose the Reader which you need.
    3. When you double click the EXE, then a screen will come showing extraction of files. As soon as extraction ends, installation will begin and you will be presented with following screen :
    4. Uncheck the checkbox which says "Make Adobe Reader my default PDF viewer"
    Acrobat 8 will remain default PDF viewer on your machine.
