Green flashing behind clip in FCE and clip in corner?!

Hi, I recently started a new project in FCE and started to add clips. As I added them I realised the clip was in the top left hand corner and the background flashes green and black?! I've tried deleting the clips and re-importing them and I've also tried closing FCE and reopening it but nothing seems to work?
Please help

Where did these files come from?
You need a third party application like Streamclip from Squared 5 (free).
You then bring a clip into Streamclip and export as a Quicktime file using settings that match an FCE Easy Setup.
The current files look very non-standard for FCE use.
I'm not even sure if they are DV NTSC or HD that has been manipulated somewhere else.
Any file/clips that are used in FCE should match one of the Easy Setup specs or FCE is forced to render or in a worst case not even play. Your files sit in the middle, sort of playing.

  • Green Flashes on Preview screen and final produc when i add certain effects

    When i add an effect, such as speed up a video clip, when it is rendered i get green flashes when i preview it and when it is fully rendered. Can anyone explain this, as it makes for very poor viewing.
    thanks

    Download MPEGstreamclip (I gave you the link in my previous post), it is free.
    Then you'll need to export the clips as QT movie > ProRes or DV.
    Read this useful tutorial:

    Instructions apply to your case (dealing with h.264) too.

  • Flex and a flash movie clip

    Hi All,
    I'm looking for some information on how to take an embedded
    flash movie clip and control it through Flex. I want to be able to
    manually move through the movie clip, select frames to display etc.
    Any information pointing me in the right direction would be
    greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    For Flash SWF's:
    Inside your componet/app def:
    private var movie_clip:MovieClip;
    private var myLoader:SWFLoader = new SWFLoader();
    onInit() {
    myLoader.addEventListener(Event.INIT,loadHandler);
    myLoader.trustContent = true;
    myLoader.load("../assets/my.swf");
    this.addChildAt(myLoader,0);
    private function loadHandler(e:Event):void{
    movie_clip= e.target.content;
    movie_clip.gotoAndPlay(2);
    movie_clip.some_custom_as3_method();
    For Flex SWF's here is an example:
    import mx.events.FlexEvent;
    import mx.managers.SystemManager;
    import mx.core.Application;
    // * gets rid of type checking so we can leave strict enabled
    [Bindable]public var _appLoaded:*;
    private function
    onCurrentApplicationComplete(oEvent:Event):void
    _appLoaded = Application(oEvent.target.application);
    private function onCompleteAppLoader(oEvent:Event):void
    var smAppLoaded:SystemManager =
    SystemManager(oEvent.target.content); //get a ref to the loaded app
    //listen for the application.complete event
    smAppLoaded.addEventListener(FlexEvent.APPLICATION_COMPLETE,
    onCurrentApplicationComplete);
    // call a custom public method in your application mxml file:
    public function setPlaylist(id:int):void {

  • How do i make an image pause in a flash movie clip

    Please can someone help me. I am trying to find out how to pause or stop an image in a basic flash movie clip,  after it has entered from one side and before it exits the other side.
    I have been trying to work it out myself for three days but no joy. I am practicing  for a test with a training agency which gave me a disk to use but nowhere in it does it say how this is done. I am also having a lot of difficulty making stop start buttons work with this movie clip. I am using a trial cs5.5 version of Flash which expires in 7 days so i need to know this soon. I am up to speed on most of the features, its just this one thing that has me stumped. A lot of the tutorials or examples  i have found on the net are very long winded and hard to follow exactly. Could someone let me know, step by step the sequence i should follow after i have created an object  and made it go from one side of the stage to the other.

    Hi
    Thank you for getting back to me. Yes i am using a timeline tween. I have an image on my stage which moves in from one side and out the other side. I am trying to stop or pause the image. The effect i will be asked to reproduce in my exam will be something very much like the banner on the website http://www,iactweb.com. If you go to this website you will see images arrive on the banner and pause before exiting the other side. I am fairly up to speed on all the aspects of getting this effect but i have forgotten what i learned during the course on how stop or pause the images. I am using the trial cs5.5 version of flash . Thanks again for getting back to me.

  • Turn computer on, goes to green, flashes yellow, back to green and no scree

    So I turn the computer on, the power button goes to green, flashes yellow, back to green and all the while the screen is not turning on. This just happened all of a sudden after no unusual circumstances. Help please! I've been looking for similar topics without much luck. • GLC: Recorded video has red and green flashes

    I tried Googling for a solution but GLC appears to be such an obscure program that none of the results are even related
    I finally got GLC working mostly correctly on Arch64. It records my game in Wine, but when I play back the video it has a red or green "flash" every few seconds that is really disruptive. I know glc-capture has a bunch of options, but I'm not sure what most of them do so I was hoping somebody knew how to fix this problem without me trying different combinations of options until something hopefully works.

    Alright I've done some more playing around with it but I don't think I'm any closer to a solution.
    I've tried pretty much every command line switch to GLC that I think could have any effect at all but nothing changes. The game in question I'm trying to record is EVE Online. The intensity of the flashes seems to vary throughout the recording, here's what I can gather:
    - No flashes at all during the login screen (which does have a bunch of 3D rendering, it's not just a flat text box or anything)
    - Moderate flashes when flying in space, primarily when I try to pan the camera
    - Video goes to complete garbage when I dock in a station. Not a single frame from inside the station is output to the video, it just loops the last in-space frames with lots of colors and other garbage obscuring the screen
    I can upload a video if anyone thinks it would help. I'd really like to get this working, GLC appears to be the only program under Linux that can be used to record games. It seems like I'm so close to a solution yet so far away.

  • Green flashes when rendering in Premiere CC 2014

    Hi there,
    I'm an in-house cameraman and editor for a financial business in London. I'm using the latest Macbook Pro Retina with 16gb ram, NVidia 750 graphics card. I've been using the same method for editing for past two years but have only just started editing with the very latest 2014 version of Premiere cloud. I'm mixing PM-100 and Sony EX1 footage which i've done many times before. However i've spend hours trying to get rid of green flashes that have started to appear on the renders.
    These seem consistent with using the PMW-100 as the EX1 footage seems ok. I can replace the error clips with something else but then the render error moves to another part of the rendering.
    These flashes can't be seen in playback within the editor, only after rendering.
    I'm trying to work out if its the camera, camera drives, Macbook Pro Retina or Premiere.
    Can anyone help shed light on this?
    Andy

    I was having the same problem, and couldn't find a fix. It was also screwing up certain effects, particularly warp stabilizer every time I rendered or exported. Finally, I tried changing the renderer from Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Open CL) to Mercury Playback Engine Software Only, and it worked like a charm. Go to File -> Project Settings -> General and select the renderer from the dropdown menu. Make sure to also change the renderer when you export. Using Adobe Media Encoder, be sure to select "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only" in the dropdown menu next to "Renderer" before you export.
    This has completely eliminated the problem for me.

  • Green flashing on rendered product.

    Whenever I render out a clip, with or without affect the final product comes out with this green flash (like a light switch going on and off) throughout the whole video. How can i fix this?

    Here is a video example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Epf0zlh3JOI&feature=youtu.be
    With these specifications:
    Frame size: 1920 x 1080, Kodekar: AAC, H.264, Video field dominance: Progressive, Colorprofile: HD (1-1-1),
    Audio channel count: 2, Audio sample rate: 48 kHz
    I don't know if this is the information you want, if not then I need help to find it aswell.

  • Can I render a Flash frame as a bitmap and send it over TCP/IP?

    I want to draw some combination of bitmaps, flash shapes, vectors, text etc and draw them programmatically into my movie using ActionScript, and then get every "rendered" pixel of my movie (at 100% view) into an array that I send to another program over TCP/IP. Can anyone help me here?
    The first part of the question is if its possible to render a frame that is a collection of Flash elements as a bitmap? I know that I can iterate through a bitmap and get every pixel using the getPixel method but I'm trying to access the final rendered frame displayed on my screen, including, as I said Flash shapes and text.
    The second question is what would be the best way to send this "video frame" over TCP/IP? Would I use an XML socket connection? That is the only way I know how to send data out of Flash over TCP/IP but I don't know if it is the only way - the help page says the data needs to be formatted as XML, which seems unwieldly for this application.
    I'm doing this now by using Max/MSP/Jitter to do a screen capture the size and location of my Flash movie and then send out the resulting matrix using a "jit.net.send" object (which lets you send frames of video over TCP/IP), but this is too clumsy for the installation I am building.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    -bob

    Thanks! That was exactly what I was looking for in the first half of the question. And I guess the draw() method works in AS2 as well as AS3. I will test it but from what I understand, I can use a Bitmap as kind of my bottom-level container, then create (in ActionScript) a movie clip that can contain other movie clips or drawing API commands or whatever, animate these various elements then finally draw() them into the bitmap. I see that in AS3 I can even use getPixels or getVector to capture the full "video frame" in one line of code.
    Thanks rothrock, for the helpful links. My application is kind of unusual, in that I'm sending "video" data to a proprietary LED controller box for display on a low resolution LED display. I connect to the box over TCP/IP and send it "frames of video" 20 times a second. I got this to work with this other content and software (Max/MSP/Jitter) and I want to see how I could capture all the rendered pixel data in successive frames of Flash animation, format it properly, then send it over TCP/IP to this controller box. Don't really now enough about the various flavors of TCP/IP connections to figure out how to do this in Flash, and I know there are security limitations built in to Flash that have to be worked around. But my movies are small (say 96 pixels by 72 pixels) and I need to send uncompressed data directly to my controller box, so these interesting links showing how to use server-side scripts to create jpgs or pngs are probably not going to help me. I will hopefully find a higher-level programmer than myself to work this out, and I think some of the techniques here will hopefull prove to be helpful.
    Thanks again for your help!

  • First Project - Poor resolution when working between FCE and LT

    I've put together a 1 minute sequence in FCE 4 (1920X1080) and it looks great when I export to QuickTime movie.
    I then use that movie as a background in LiveType, adding a bunch of titles and graphics.
    If I then render the movie in LiveType the rendered movie chokes and skips. If I import it back into FCE and export it back to a QT movie, it looks poor - compression artifacts and the text doesn't look crisp.
    Is there a better way to:
    1) Sequence and edit my clips (1 min movie)
    2) Add tiles/graphics throughout
    3) Output to HD format
    Thanks!

    I figured it out.....
    Rather than rendering the movie in LT and importing to FCE, I just imported the LT project itself. Working between the two apps simultaneously, I can position the text and graphics from LiveType, save, then instantly see the results in FCE.
    Everything is looking crisper....

  • Just setting up FCE and have question

    This is probably a stupid question but when I set up FCE and select my external drive as my scratch drive, where will the project folder be created? Is it on the external drive with the clips etc. I import or will it be located in the documents folder on the system hard drive?
    Thanks

    If you set your scratch disk to an external drive, all files created by FCE during capture, rendering, auto-saving, and all support files (waveforms, thumbnails etc.) will be stored into the external drive. Instead your project file (.fcp) will be saved where you decide to, when you issue the Save Project As command. Project files are usually saved into the user document folder of the startup disk.
    A Final Cut Express Documents folder is created by FCE in the scratch disk, containing subfolders specific for each use. One specific subfolder (Capture Scratch) will store all media captured by FCE, and you must never delete files from that subfolder, unless you remove the whole project, because they contain your actual movies.
    A warning: in FCE a "clip" is in fact a "pointer to" a portion of the media file in the capture scratch folder, it is not the media file itself. When you capture, a new media file is created in the capture scratch folder and a new clip is created in the FCE browser pointing to that media file. But if you remove the clip in FCE you do not remove the corresponding media file. The opposite is also true: if you remove the media file from the folder the clip will still be in the FCE browser (or timeline) pointing to nothing. This is called an offline clip, which may also be reconnected to the same media file manually.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 H.264 iPod video format green flashes in Quicktime

    Quicktime 7.3.1 apparently shows no flashes but 7.4.5, 7.5.5 and 7.6 all show green flashes on videos encoded in AME CS4 H.264 iPod video small.
    No other quicktime versions tested.
    Videos play fine in VLC Player and Adobe Media Player.
    Videos encoded with the latest MediaCoder sourceforge application play fine in Quicktime.
    Clearly something's wrong with the way Adobe exports and the way quicktime 7.3+ reads H.264 videos.

    I think it may be the QuickTime Player issue and not Adobe Media Encoder. Its seems to play find in other players like Adobe Media Player and Windows Media Player after installing Windows Essentials Media Codec Pack 2.2c. (http://download.cnet.com/Windows-Essentials-Media-Codec-Pack/3000-2140_4-1066270 9.html). Haven't check to see if it plays correctly on my i-Touch. Not all videos I encode from .AVI to .MP4 using the i-Pod small preset seem to have this issue.

  • Media Encoder CS4 problem with h.264 QuickTime- Green flashes

    I have been using Premiere/Media Encoder CS4 on both a Mac and PC. I am having problems encoding using h.264 HD (720p) settings. These are the problems I have had:
    When I encode on both platforms (using many different settings) the video plays back fine on the latest version of QuickTime on the Mac.
    On the PC using the latest version of QuickTime the exact same video stutters and flashes green.
    When I downgrade my version of QT on my PC to 7.4.5 the video plays fine.
    With the downgraded version of QT and then encode the video again using the same settings. The video has the same mentioned problem on ANY PC with the latest version of QT.
    I would like to say that this is just a QT problem but when I encode the videos using someone elses computer with other software (Sorenson Squeeze) using the exact same settings the video works fine on all platforms.
    I need to distribute these videos online so I have no control over what version of QT people will be using to view the video so it is not enough just to say use the older version of QT.
    Thanks in advance for help.

    There have been several instances, such as you describe, on the forum lately. Do not recall any exact resolutions though. I'd seach for "green flashes," as that exact phrase has been used in many.
    On the PC using the latest version of QuickTime the exact same video stutters and flashes green.
    Is this with QT 7.6.2? Many had major issues with the QT 7.4.x versions and Adobe software. The QT 7.5.5 version seemed to fix most of those, but another user was having issues with it very recently, and there have been some, who have also had issues.
    It seems that QT will work with Adobe products for a bit, and then the next upgrade, or two, will fritz up the whole works.
    Wish this was not such a "moving target."
    Good luck,
    Hunt
