Groupwise 7 Gateway for Exchange

I am testing the Novell Groupwise Gateway for Exchange SP2. I have already tested the API Gateway but wanted to try the newer version because it will be supported for awhile. I downloaded the install and went through all the instructions. I am using Groupwise 7.0.1 and Exchange 2003. The install went fine and the configurations are correct but I must be missing something. When I go to start the Gateway Application it starts then stops. I checked on the GW MTA and it says the link is Closed. The reason the link it closed it says can't create directories. I checked the Gateway application and it shows Groupwise link closed and other link Open. I logged into a ws as the same user to check the rights and I was able to create a new directory in the domain directory. I changed the logging to verbose on the Exchange Gateway to see if I can see an error and it says trying to re-establish GW link.

The gateway directory has to be in less that 8 chars, or at least 8.3...
On Netware the agents have this restriction.

Groupwise Gateway for Exchange

We are trying to setup the GroupWise gateway for exchange. The exchange server, the GroupWise Gateway for Exchange and the domain that owns the gateway are all installed on the same Windows 2003 server, along with the novell client and the Groupwise client.
When we try to start the gateway, we get a series of errors that are shown in TID#3644821 and we have gone through those settings and verfiied everything.

In the install/admin guide V7, may 8, 2007, page 36, it referrs to modifying the gateway connector and specifying an "administrator username and password." The field says "netware account"." We went ahead and used a netware account here.
We are seeing several errors in the event log:
Logon Failure on database "First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (VCEXCHANGE1)"- Windows 2000 account SANMATEOCOUNTY\ExchangeMailAdmin; mailbox /o=SanMateoCounty/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=configuration/CN=Connections/CN=vcexch.
Error: -2147221237
vcexch is the name of the gateway.
and
Logging on NetWare server with remote location '\\vcexchange1\D$', userid 'cn=xxx,ou=xxx,o=xx'
then
Error occurred when logging on NetWare server.
The system error code is 2202
The specified username is invalid.
what netware server is the account tyring to log into. this path is not identified anywhere that we can find. Should we actually identify a windows account here?
What shall we try now? Any ideas?

I use the GroupWise Gateway for Exchange 7.02 4/25/2007 which crash frequently. I does not find earlier versions from the public support.novell website.

Linux mail gateway for exchange server

hi everybody...
i have a problem that i want run a linux os and install Mail gateway such as kaspersky mail gateway 5.6 for work with exchange server 2010/2013. now i want know about that its possible that kaspersky mail gateway 5.6 or any other mail gateway on the linux
os can work for Microsoft exchange or not??????????

From the perspective of Exchange, there is no relevant requirement about gateway. Based on my knowledge, it is possible that kaspersky mail gateway 5.6 or any other mail gateway on the linux os can work for Microsoft Exchange.

Novell Groupwise to Hosted Exchange Migration

We are looking to migrate a client from Novell Groupwise Email to Hosted Exchange. It seems the only toll available to assist with this type of migration is the following:

Can someone confirm that GroupWise 7.0 API Gateway is supported for Exchange 2007?
I found a note in a guide that stated it was not YET supported as of 1/27/2008.

SAP Internet Mail Gateway for MS Exchange 2003 Server

Has anybody successfully configured the IMG to work with MS Exchange 2003?
We have our 4.6C currently configured to talk to Exchange 2000 through SXC
Note 594428 - SXC: Exchange 2003 Server is not supported
Solution
R/3 Basis Release 3.1I to 4.6D:
Use IMG 4.6D and sendmail instead of the SXC (see note 101573), or
Upgrade your SAP system to Web Application Server (WAS) 6.10 or later and then use the SMTP plugin.
We only use outbound mail from SAP and this is sent to intranet users only, we are not planning on upgrading for a at least a year and would like to avoid installing another mail server.
Note 363154 - Internet mail gateway: use other MTA than Sendmail
This note suggests that any MTA (Mail Transfer Agent) can be used so long as it can be called from the command line, Exchange is an MTA, anybody now how to do a command line call for Exchange?

hi,
we are in the process of configuring the Internet Mail Gateway on R/3 4.6c on Unix platform.
I have created the RFC Destinations in SM59 and also checked the Test Connection and its working fine. I then did the Unix configuration and went on to the check whether the configuration was successful in SO01 by sending a sample text message to my company's mail address. but i did not recieve any mails on my Microsoft Outlook, instead the count under the errors column increased by one.
on checking the status for the sent message in SO01, its saying "No Delivery to [email protected](for reason, see long text)... but there's no long text either...
Can anyone please let me know the reasons for it and it would also be really helpful if someone can let me know whether i have missed any configuration settings.
Also, can someone send the list of parameters that are to be entered for the Unix configuration under mlsomadm mailgw.ini, so that i can verify whether i have entered the parameters correctly....

Forefront for exchange 2010 - how long?

I would have additional question.
Our company is MS Gold Partner and we need to renew our yearly license every year around AUGUST.
We are thinking about changing our SPAM filter external gateway with exchange edge, but as we can see from that article, you Will be unable to renew it license after December 2015.
I know that Microsoft offers online Forefront protection but that is not option in our case because of data sensitivity.We need an answer how long we Will be able to get updates regarding forefront for exchange 2010 and be licensed ok?
I guess after 2015 december Forefront Exchange 2010 Will no longer recieve spam updates thru Windows update, right?
And also engines Will not be updated after that date?
Is this the correct view and understanding?

For current customers, Microsoft will continue to support the subscription through Dec.31, 2015. If customer subcriptions expire before Dec.31, 2015, and annot be renewed because the product is no longer offered, these products will continue to be supported
through that date in order to provided with customers sufficient time to move to alternative solutions.

Oracle Collaboration Coexistence Gateway and Exchange 2010

Hi,
in the Beehive 2.0 Integration Guide is said that the Collaboration Coexistence Gateway is compatible with MS Exchange 2003 and 2007.
Are there any plans to make in compatible to Exchange 2010 or is it even already compatible?

Exchange 2010 will proxy ActiveSync for Exchange 2003. For OWA, it will redirect, so you need a legacy redirect URL. You can test all of this internally without changing your Internet connection. For ActiveSync you can use a WiFi connection.

GroupWise API for Windows??

Hi does anyone know where I can download the GroupWise API for Windows if it exists at all?
Currently I am moving my GroupWise system off NetWare and Windows 2003 server, but I am using the GroupWise API 4.1

yes Jim that is a good idea, I think may leave a single NetWare 6.5 server running just to be the master and also to the XNTPD service that a lot of my machines run!
One other point is how will the API connect to my GroupWise that will be on another box (or VM machine) ? Does the API only run on UNC or can it run over IP?

You could always put a small VMware machine running NetWare *on* the
Windows box, to handle the API gateway. Would at least eliminate the
need to leave an old piece of hardware up and running just for that.

Setting up Mail for Exchange with a Go3 key

I work at a company where in order to access the OWA login screen from the web, I have to first go through a webvpn login screen, which makes me generate a random number from a device on my keychain (Go3 key) to enter into the webvpn login screen. Then, I am taken to the OWA login screen where I can login using my normal network credentials.
Can Mail for Exchange on my Nokia E61 be set up with this type of access?

Sorry, I cannot think of a way of doing this.
I assume it is an SSL VPN gateway you use?

API Gateway for Backup Exec

Hello,
There is a Novell 6.5 server wiht GroupWise 7.0.3 with one running GroupWise 4.1 API Gateway v2 for NLM module. This gateway is for the FAX service via Groupwise client. I would like to install another new api gateway for Bakcup Exec to send backup results via e-mail.
Do I have to stop the running gateway(FAX) to install the new gateway for the Backup Exec?

All gateways must be shutdown when installing, since this most times

Yes, I beleave, but haven't tested, that you can run two API gateways
on the same box

Looking for exchange calendar sync groupcal *****

Looking for exchange calendar sync system to replace sucky groupcal.
I've had nothing but problems with it. I get duplicate calendars, duplicate calendar entries, and the daemon stops updating from the
then the support folks are threatening to cut off support and no longer help me to fix their broken code!
I wasted money and so much time on this app, is there anything else out there that does a better job?

Not to mention that it doesn't work with Leopard now! I wish there was a way to get my Exchange calendar to sync to a third party that would sync with iCal 3.0. Since there is not support for CalDAV it would be nice if Exchange would support this!

Configuring Lync Server 2013 to be a partner Application for Exchange 2013

Hello Guys,
I just want to share my experience while configuring Lync server 2013 to be a partner Application for exchange 2013 sever.
As mentioned on technet you need to run Configure-EnterprisePartnerApplication.ps1 script that ships with Exchange 2013.
But when I tried to run the script as described on the technet article, I found it always fails with " the accepted domain is not valid"
I have checked my accepted domains many times and i found that there's no issues with my configured accepted domain.
So I started to review the script to find the issue and I found that the script was configured as below
$acceptedDomains = Get-AcceptedDomain ;
if ($acceptedDomains -eq $null)
WriteError ("There is no accepted domain so user can not be created.")
$acceptedDomain = $acceptedDomains[0].Name;
if($UseDomainController -eq $true)
$user = New-MailUser -Name $username -DomainController $DomainController -ExternalEmailAddress $username@$acceptedDomain;
set-mailuser -Identity $user.Identity -HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled $true -DomainController $DomainController

which is totally wrong as below:
firstly it makes $AcceptedDomain variable to equal the Name of the accepted domain.
Not all customers configure the name of the Accepted Domain to be the Domain Name.
Secondly it makes $AcceptedDomain variable to equal the name of the first Accepted Domain.
The first domain may be not the default Accepted Domain.
So I have configured the script as below
$acceptedDomains = Get-AcceptedDomain | ? {$_.Default -eq "True"} ;
if ($acceptedDomains -eq $null)
WriteError ("There is no accepted domain so user can not be created.")
$acceptedDomain = $acceptedDomains.DomainName;

Mail for exchange settings on N97

I have a N97 which mail for exchange was working happily on, synchronizing mail, contact's and calendar. The world was a good place!
The screen broke and needed replacing on my N97 and I have set up mail for exchange again. Now when it downloads mail, it downloads all of the other outlook folders inside my inbox as well as my inbox. It never used to do this and indeed this is not what I want.
How can I get my N97 to just download the inbox rather than all of the folders within the inbox on outlook. There must be some settings either on the phone or in outlook which defines what is synced.

Maybe you had earlier Mail for Exchange v2.9 in use and after setting it up again, you have got the latest MfE 3.0 version. The new MfE 3.0 version has as a new feature the possibility to view the outlook subfolders. These are, however, not automatically synced unless you subscribe to them. The unsubscribed folders show the mark (x) in front of the folder name. After you subscribe to a folder, the (x) mark will disappear from the folder name.
