GUI for monitoring ACE probes

Hello,
Can Cisco LMS monitor and report on ACE module probes.
Thanks.

yes, as imported MIBs.
ACE appliance 3.x currently supports more SNMP OIDs for the probes than does the ACE module 2.x, but will ACE module 2.3 due by Q4CY09, they will both have same capabilities for probes monitoring.
See:
TableName:cslbxProbeCfgTable
cslbxProbeState
INDEX: slbEntity, cslbxProbeName
For Probe State per Probe Name.
cslbxProbeState can have two values ACTIVE and INACTIVE
As part of reporting probe statistics per RServer the following OIDs will be added in the cesRServerProbeTable in CISCO-ENHANCED-SLB-MIB
Table Name:cesRserverProbeTable
cesRserverProbesPassed
cesRserverProbesFailed
cesRserverProbeHealthMonState
INDEX: Probe Name, RServerProbe Statistics per RServer (configured probe).
This will display stats based on Probe Name per Rserver (Rservers are physical devices not associated with any server farm). Stats generated when probe is associated to a rserver.
Table Name: cesRealServerProbeTable
cesRealServerProbeName
cesRealServerProbeStorageType
cesRealServerProbeRowStatus
INDEX: Probe Name, Server Farm Name,Real Server Name, Real Server Port
Represents a probe associated with a real server directly. For example the following configuration adds an entry to the table.
As part of reporting probe statistics for probes that are assigned to real server/server farm the following table with the OIDs will be added in CISCO-SLB-HEALTH-MON-MIB
cshMonServerfarmRealProbeStatsTable: (New Table)
cshMonServerfarmRealPassedProbes
cshMonServerfarmRealFailedProbes
cshMonServerfarmRealProbeHealthMonState
INDEX:Probe Name, Server Farm Name,Real Server Name, Real Server Port ,Inherited Port
Statistics for probes assigned to real server/serverfarm

  • Effective GUI for monitoring blocks, memory, cpu,io in SQL server

    Hi,
Is there any GUI/ tool to monitor SQL server 2008 R2 memory, CPU, IO, blocks?

    Hi,
Is there any GUI/ tool to monitor SQL server 2008 R2 memory, CPU, IO, blocks?
Simply run below query to see SQL Server memory utilization.
    select
    (physical_memory_in_use_kb/1024)Memory_usedby_Sqlserver_MB,
    (locked_page_allocations_kb/1024 )Locked_pages_used_Sqlserver_MB,
    (total_virtual_address_space_kb/1024 )Total_VAS_in_MB,
    process_physical_memory_low,
    process_virtual_memory_low
    from sys. dm_os_process_memory
Schedule it through agent job and add database mail to send mail to you.
I use Quest spotlight it does no gives memory utilization but shows Buffer cache hit ratio.Which is important parameter to mark.SQL utilizes memory heavily so any tool can flash message like memory utilization high which actually is not correct.I have seen
    it with many tools.
For others you can go for Quest tool.

  • ACE: probe timers

    Hi,
I've general question about ACE probe timers. I've following probe setup:
    probe https probe:1061
      port 1061
      interval 34
      passdetect interval 17
      open 1
    ACE# sh probe probe:1061detail
    probe       : probe:1061
    type        : HTTPS
    state       : ACTIVE
    description :
       port      : 1061   address     : 0.0.0.0         addr type  : -
       interval  : 34      pass intvl  : 17              pass count : 3
fail count: 3       recv timeout: 10
    ===
for above probe: when ACE will declare the server as down? will it declare it down after (17*3+34) 85 seconds or it will declare it down after 115 seconds (added recv timeout=secs 3 times = 30 seconds).
    please help.
    ========
we did a test and bought down the server manually. ACE declared the server down after 91 seconds (from the time when server was brought down).

    Hi Gavin, Krishna,
The explanation for all these parameters can be found in the health monitoring section of the configuration guide (
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/ace/vA2_3_0/configuration/slb/guide/probe.html#wp1031040)
Below are the definitions quoted from the guide:
    Interval:
The time interval between probes is the frequency  that the ACE sends probes to a server marked as passed. You can change  the time interval between probes by using the interval command
    Faildetect:
Before the ACE marks a server as failed, it must  detect that probes have failed a consecutive number of times. By  default, when three consecutive probes have failed, the ACE marks the  server as failed. You can configure this number of failed probes by  using the faildetect command
    Passdetect interval/count:
To configure the time interval after which the ACE  sends a probe to a failed server and the number of consecutive  successful probes required to mark the server as passed, use the passdetect command.
So, to summarize, taking Gavin's configuration as example. A server failure would be detected in a time between 78 seconds (2x34 +10) and 112 (3x34 +10). Once it's down, it will become operational between 34 (2x17) and 51 (3x17) seconds after it comes back up.
    I hope this helps

  • Required input on GUI for HTML vs Windows

    Hi,
We are now on 7.02 and have seen that a required input field in SAP GUI for HTML is shown as an *, but on SAP GUI for Windows is shown as a checked box icon. Is there a way to make them the same? Our clients run reports in ECC and via the Portal and have complained of the inconsistency.
    Thanks,

    Hello Kevin,
you might want to ask this in , which is the forum which is about SAP GUI for Html. That forum is monitored by the resp. developers.

  • ACE Probe Failure Error Messages

    Hi,
I'm looking for the difference between the below error messages for a probe failure:
Server open timeout (no SYN ACK)
    Server reply timeout (no reply)
I guess what I do not understand is if the ACE sends a TCP probe - he sends a syn and expects a syn ack back.  If no syn ack back then there's no reply right?  Any feed back on these errors would be greatly appreciated.
    /r
    Rob

    Hi Rob,
By default, when the ACE sends a probe, it expects  a response within a time period of 10 seconds. For example, for an HTTP  probe, the timeout period is the number of seconds to receive an HTTP  reply for a GET or HEAD request. If the server fails to respond to the  probe, the ACE marks the server as failed.
Here is where the "Server reply timeout (no reply)" comes into play, and it is due to the server not replaying back to the ACE once the content request was made (sequence: SYN,SYN/ACK,ACK,GETorHEAD,..........no reply), this is the difference between Server open timeout (no SYN ACK).
Server open timeout (no SYN ACK), here the ACE is just opening the connection and doing the TCP synchronization.
In the logic you explain, yes, we could say that if there is no SYN/ACK, there is no reply from the server. But, in ACE language, if there is no SYN/ACK, well we have an error to know that the problem is during the 3-way-handshake, reason could be that the port is not open in the server or in the firewall if we have one in between, etc..., and if there is a reply timeout, this is to know, that the issue might be related with the server having trouble replying back to the ACE, and possible reasons could be that the server is overloaded and unable to reply within the 10 seconds, there is a lot of congestion in the network, etc.....
So as you can see, this help to differentiate the possible troubleshooting that we might need to apply depending on the error message.
    Hope this help.
    Rod.

  • DC LAN infrastructure - Mirror network for monitoring

    Hi experts,
Does anyone have implementations examples of a "mirror" network in large datacenters designs for monitoring purpouses using TAPs (ex. netoptics or gigamon)? I'm evaluating some monitoring solutions but it's mandatory to configure mirroring on the switches to capture the traffic on the network. As the DC is large and there are another devices that need mirroring (IDSs, IPS, Probes) I'm thinking in implement a "mirror network" in all datacenter using TAPs. I'd like to see some implementations examples of a "mirror network" to evaluate if this strategy is viable.
    Thanks in advance

  • Solution for monitor power supply and raid 5 on x4150 server

    Hi everybody,
    a simple question :
my compagny have some server SunFire x4150 in some Datacenter, and there is a thing that we cannot really monitored remotly : the status of the 2 power supply and the status of the raid 5 of the server.
(i want to know if a power is down or if a disk is "dead")
We are using Nagios, cacti and munin actually, so can we use these interfaces for that?
if the answer is no, a script can be developed , if only i knew the command that can be used to take informations from the state of the raid5, i'll comunicate later the type of the raid card.
what are the best solutions availables for monitor those things?
    thanks by advance

We have some x4150s but they're running Linux. There are separate solutions for each of the 2 problems.
    1. For the power supplies, you can use the ELOM/ILOM system management interface (also used for monitoring the fans and temperature). If you've got it configured and connected to the network, you can set it up to email you about any events. We have the older ELOM firmware running, which includes the ability to add some actions to take in response to specific events. The new and supposedly better ILOM firmware doesn't seem to include this. Since this is IPMI compatible you can probably also hook into this using ipmitool or SNMP tools.
    2. For the RAID card, assuming it's the standard Adaptec (rebranded as StorageTek) controller, you can install and use StorMan software (it's on the tools & drivers CD if not pre-installed). Once again you can configure email notification from the StorMan GUI, but this time it relies on OS host services to do the mail forwarding via the host NIC.
I'm not familiar with the details of your network system admin tools, but hopefully these tips will provide pointers on what hooks are available for these tools to tie into. Presumably there's also Sun N1 management software which can probably do this in a more built-in way, but it sounds like you've already got more than enough management tools.

  • Unable to Print Purchase order automatically using SAP GUI for JAVA

    Hi SAP gurus,
Some of the PC's in our company use windows and some LINUX. Therefore we use two types of SAP GUI. One for windows and the other one JAVA. PO approval was set to print automatically. In a windows setting, there are no problems with this setup. But in SAP GUI for JAVA, no print outs are produced and no error messages are displayed. I am using SAP GUI for JAVA version 7.10 ver 6. and I use Front end printing for linux access method G.
    please help,

I looked through the API but reading over class names doesn't do much for me, and I searched Google a bit but most of the stuff I found seemed pretty difficult/beyond my knowledge.

  • Creating a GUI for use on an Ethernet Network

I'm designing a data logger to log voltage, current and temperature data on a reserve battery string while it's being charged. The logger will have the capability to be viewed remotely via Ethernet. With that said, I'd like some advice regarding the GUI for the remote PC which will be used to view the logger. Will it be easier to create the GUI using LabView or another high-level language  (Java, C++ etc)? (Note: I have some programming experience in C (though I've never written/created a GUI) and I've never used LabView).

In this case it sounds like whatever you choose you will have a learning curve, so I would recommend
LabVIEW if that is a possibility cost-wise.  LV has a lot of built-in support for GUI development so
you can make realtively sophisticated GUIs without a whole lot of work/learning.
There are time-limited evaluation versions of LV available for download.  I would take a look there, especially
the examples.  Find something a little similar to what you want to do, then change the GUI on the
example to more closely match your ultimate objective to get a feel for the GUI development in LV.
This forum is a great resource with some very helpful developers, so come back with questions.
There are also many professional developers available to assist if you have a budget or inclination
    towards that direction.

  • Front End (GUI) for Java Web Based Appl.

    Hi Gurus,
I am new to Java. Can anybody tell me, what is the front end(GUI) used in Java web based applications? I was told that Swings/Applets are rarely used. Is there are a 3rd party took to design GUI for Java based applications?

U mean to say, for JSP/Servlets, "Web based application" as well as "JSP/Servlet" usually implies that the client is a simple web browser.
we cannot have swing as front end?You can use Swing inside an Applet inside a web application, but usually that's not needed, as you already have a client application that's quite powerful (the browser).
