Guided Procedures & Monitoring..

Hi y'all,
I'm doing little research on the different possibilities of reporting on running and completed GP's.
- In know that you can do that via your own work center or via the option 'maintain processes' via the administration workset.
- I have also red about the GP Monitor which you an install. I havent done this yet, so I dont know how this looks.
- Finally I red about transaction SWF_GP and table SWFGPDEPLOYVIEW in the R/3 system itself.
Basically I have two questions:
1. Does anybody have tips from practice on how to do reporting on running GP's?
2. I have made some GP's and they appear in my work center, however they do not appear in SWF_GP. Does anybody know when GP's are visible in this transaction?
OK, any input would be appreciated, thanks!
Erik

Hi Erik,
Just to kick it up to the top again ;-). Did you post your question also in one of the portal forums? Could be somebody knows there.

  • How to setup Guided Procedure Monitoring in NWA?

    Hi I have NW2004S patched to SP11.
When trying to open the Guided Procedure Monitoring in NWA
    NWA, Monitoring>Guided Procedures
    I get the following error:
Guided Procedures JMX provider is stopped in the target system. Start cafeugpmodeljmx~eap application
Guided Procedures JMX provider is stopped in the target system. Start cafeugpmodeljmx~eap application
Cannot retrieve basic info: :name=BasicInfoProvider, component=cafeugp not in repository
However, the application cafeugpmodeljmx~eap when you go to NWA applications tab.
Any suggestions on what must be done to configure the monitoring?
I need to do this to monitor / debug the GP.

Go into Visual Administration and check if the application has been started. The path is Services -> Deploy -> Monitoring Configurator. Expand that and see if the jmx.eap application is running. If not, then start the application.
    Thanx,

  • Location of the attachments in Guided Procedures

    Hi,
does anybody know the location where the attachments from the Guided Procedure Runtime are stored?
Are they stored somewhere in the KM or in the database/filesystem directly?
In the Guided Procedure Monitoring i can see the attached documents, but i need an overview over all attached documents in the gp process instances for one Guided procedure.
Thank you in Advance - Regards

    Hi Martin,
the standar "Attachment" functionality in GP stores the file in the database, may be you can get the table names asking here in the forums, anyway you can create your own attachments page using UI Patters and integrating it with the KM so the attached files will be stored there.
    This tutorial will help you:
[Integrating KM with CAF UI Patterns|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/dabdb3ea-0c01-0010-df8f-ffd2755c74c5]

  • Where are stored attachments in guided procedures process??

    Any one knows?

    Hi Julio,
The history of the process is not lost after the process is finished. You can see the process instances at NWA->Availability and Performance Management->Process Monitoring->Guided Procedures->Process Instances Tab.
Here you can Search the Process running/completed/terminated/erroneous/archived Instances based on Initiator/Administrator/Owner/Overrseer userid forlast week/last month/last year/At any Time etc. In the result that you get after search, you can see all the data for each process task. You can see Input Context,Output Context, Processor,Attachment etc.
Also on the main page for this screen, there are few other tabs which can give you other information about the Process/Process templated and other GP objects.

  • Work flow issue in Guided Procedures

    Hi,
I have one issue in work flow implemented in Guide procedures with Webdynpro java.
I have webdynpro application which developed and deployed in NW 7.0 SP3 version. The particular application request has suppose to be get approved by 5 users but after approving the 2 users, with out getting approved by other 3 remaining users it got approved the request completely. i need to trouble shoot this work flow issue. Can any body tell me how to troubleshoot this issue. why work flow not triggered for the last three users.
Please let me know what are the steps for trouble shooting or monitoring the GP issues.
    Thanks
    vijay

    Hi Vijay,
There are a few roles for  GP Administration. Once you assign these roles to your users, you can test , edit and trouble shoot Guided Porcedures, from Guided Porcedure Runtime Tab.
First ask the portal admin to assign these roles to you and then you can check what is wrong with the corresponding GP.
    Hope it helps,
    Sattam.

  • Cannot Open An Instantiate Application in Guided Procedures

    Hi,
I an new to Guided Procedures and SAP NW CE. I have created a composite application following a tutorial example from the SAP Press book "The Developers Guide to the SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment" which is based on a project management process.
After I am finished with the modeling of process in GP (Callable Objects, Roles, Parameter consolidation), I tried to run the application by generating the Instantiate URL and subsequently opening it with the "Open Instanitiate Application" button in the "Instantiate" tabstrip. Unfortunately nothing has happened, and there was not even a single error message.
So I would like to know how can I diagnose this problem in GP? Where can I find the log trace?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Joon Meng

    Hi,
In GP you can also run your application using "Start Process" on GP home (I don't remember exact word for menu). To monitor process goto Netweaver Administrator (http://<yourhost>:<port>/nwa) and goto Availability and Performance Management->Process Monitoring
Here you can see option for GP monitoring. Goto Process instance and look for your process (Hint: provide correct initiator and check all type of status).
Here you can also see steps and error details if any.

  • API for access of guided procedure from ABAP / WebDyn: change/read status

    Hallo together,
I'm very new to guided procedure and have some questions about possible interaction between WebDynpro ABAP and Portal guided procedures (UWL ?)
is it possible to access a guided procedure or their attributes from WebDynpro ABAP? What are the relevant key attributes (ID's) to do so?
Is is possible to change the status of a guided procedures f.e. from "completed" to "ready" from outside, let say WebDynpro ABAP? for the purpose of a monitor for mgrs.
    - possible szenario is a manager says: "no, not well done" go back to start and do it again !
    - another szenario: guided procedure is "running" and should be set to "completed"
    Any hint will be helpfull
    Thanx very much in advance
    regards Hans

    Hi Hans,
There is a good and a bad news regarding APIs for GP and ABAP Web Dynpro and GP:
The good news is that you can find [here|http://help.sap.com/javadocs/nwce/current/gp/index.html] the APIs for GP.
The bad news is that the cooperation capabilities between GP and ABAP Web Dynpro are restricted in a certain way. One can use a ABAP Web Dynpro in GP as callable object, but GP is only capable to transport parameter values from GP to the UI but not vice versa. In many cases one needs a solution where the ABAP Web Dynpro UI accepts user inputs and forwards them to the GP context. This is not supported.

  • Archive guided procedure process and maintain history attributes

    Hi All,
We have the need for a workflow through portal with several approval steps.
We want to use guided procedures but cannot find whether it answers to our following requirements:
    - When a process is completed, we want to be able to see some detailed data of each activity.
-ID of the object created after approval    (which we display in the last step of the procedure).
-Comments from the requestor               (upon which the approver decided to approve).
              -Date and time of approval
This so we can track back from the object id why it has been created and who approved it. (also when the process is already archived, we would still like to see this).
-Does anyone know if there are limitations to the archiving process?
-The exact approver of the process is important to retain as well. In the archive monitor I now only see Initiator, Owner, Overseeer and Adminstrator kept in history. But we need to know who did our approval (which is not amongst these roles).
    Thanks for your help
    Jurjen

    Hello,
Even we have similar kindda requirement. I don't know how well is the standard archive monitor will suit this need. As you have said there might be some vital information that may not be possible to be archived in the standard Archive for GP.
So I'm planning to build my own Ztable in SAP R/3 for the archival of all the processing details, agents involved, date and time etc so that this table can be updated as and when the particular step in the GP has been completed.
This way, I guess i can decide what all details to be archieved and hence code accordingly. Also, this doesn't have any limitation as its a Transparent table in R/3.
Hope you can do something similar to this.
    Cheers,
    Mandrake

  • Guided Procedure - Authorizing an offline form

    Hello,
we're currently developing a Guided Procedure using an interactive offline form. The GP shall continue the process when the form is submitted back using HTTP.
Actually, we need to have authorization to make sure that only certain persons can return the data.
What's the best way to archieve this?
The best would be if the user is asked to provide uid/pwd and restrict access to the GP process in some way. Does Acrobat Reader come up with a pop up?
    Thanks very much
    Stefan

    Hi Cindy,
Your scenario seems to be a standard offline process.
Let me attempt to break it down for you:
1.Your offline pdf should have a submit button with the mail url.
2.The mail with the pdf/xdp attachement gets send to the preconfigured mailbox.
3.This mailbox is continously monitored by GP Adapters for any incoming mail.
4.In your design time you create a CO of type Interactive form which is basically your offline form. You also create your GP Process with the review and approving process.
5.Map the parameters of the Offline Interactive form CO to the Process Parameters.
(You should ensure the two have the same structure and number of parameters to make the mapping simpler)
6.So at runtime GP will do the mapping for you and when the approver logs on he sees the data passed from the offline form.

  • Error while executing Guided Procedures Action

    Hello,
We are getting the following error when a user is trying to execute an Action in the Guided Procedures Process:
"Cannot complete Action: Activity could not be read".
    What can be causing this?
Any help would be highly Appreciated.

    Hello,
This is more than likely due to an inconsistency of a GP object at database level. I suggest opening an OSS ticket as this would require detailed analysis.

  • Task based UI (Guided Procedure) in SAP CRM 7.0

I am trying to build a Task Based UI in SAP CRM 7.0. I followed the steps which SAP mentions but unfortunately i can't get it work.I am a functional consultant and so its quite possible that might have missed something critical
This is the sequence of steps i followed
Step 1 - Create new BSP component
    2 - Created 3 custom views
    3 - Created a "Guided Maintenance Page"
4 - According to SAP documentation/material - when i open the view/page created in step 3 i would be able to see the views i created in Step 2 and i can choose the views ( and the sequence) i want to use in the guided procedure.
But unfortunately in Step 3 - i don't see any of the views i created in "Step 2" .
So just wondering what i have missed and why the guided procedure is not working.
    thanks in advance!
    Cheers
    SS

    Hi Ruby,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
In your reply you have mentioned that - "As far as I know , if you use the guided  maintainence  procedure , at the top you can see the number of custom views added in the component , in your case you will be able to see them as 1, 2 and 3"
The issue I am encountering is that  I don't see the (any) custom view in my guided procedure.
I don't see any of the the custom views 1,2 or 3 listed in the top half of the page. All i see is a table with no entries in it.
So i am wondering if i have missed out any important step in guided procedure( task based UI) creation process.
    thanks in advance!
    Cheers

    H2G_GuidedProcedures.sda
    H2G_SourceCode.zip
But we are not able to find Follwoing sda on even Service Market Place.
If anyone knows from wher to download these two SDA, Let us also Know.
    Thanks in Advance for Help.

    Shruti,
While clicking on link that is given in PDF for these files its saying:
    Error - download expired
Sorry, the file you want to download, is already deleted or the id is incorrect.
Perhaps we require a special ID of basis guys because it might be possible we dont have access to these files.

  • How to change the name of (Guided procedure) GP Runtime View?

    Hello all!
At Design time in GP (Guided Procedure), I have added a runtime view at the tab "Runtime Views" named Additional Resources to a GP process.  At runtime, when the process is started,  at the left bar appears the button "Additional Resources". Is there a way to change this name? Any idea can be helpfull :).
    Kindly Regards,
    Luiza

    Hi,
an other solution is change the block property QUERY_DATA_SOURCE_TYPE from "Table" to "Sub-query" , than change at run time the property QUERY_DATA_SOURCE_NAME.
First create block and add items
The QUERY_DATA_SOURCE_NAME will be for ex. "Select 'A' as col1, 'B' AS col2, 'C' as col3 from dual"
Set into items the column name property to col1 , col2 ...
At run time change the query to "Select 'Z' as col1, 'X' as col2 , 'Y' as col3 from dual"
in this way you can change the source of column value.
Caution because if you change value type from varchar2 to date you must cast date into varchar2.
May be that this way is valid only for view data not for insert-update, i don't remember.
    bye
