GWIA "not listening" in GroupWise Monitor

When I check my GW Monitor to check the status of GroupWise, I see that the
GWIA is listed as "Not Listening". Mail is coming and going through the
GWIA (as evidenced by this message).
The problem appeared after a power outage that went on long enough for the
UPS to shut down servers. Wehn I restarted them This problem appeared. I
am running GW 8.0.2 on OES2 sp2 (linux). I also have GWAVA 4.5 running on
the same box.
I am assuming that it has to do with settings in the monitor? The log says
the GWIA is not running. When I try and go to
http://myserver-ip-address:9850 I get an "unable to connect" error.
What am I missing?
Thanks in advance!

GWIA is listening on the following ports, 1.2.3.4 being the server ip and I removed the POA connections.
    # netstat -pan | grep -i gwia

Besides this GW is running just fine.

    Hi Laura,
The firewall is disabled (double checked), there is a http username and password (re-set it) set in C1, a full stop and start did not make a difference.

  • MTA Unknown Status - Not Listening

Recently we installed GroupWise monitor on the same server as the MTA.
When I go to view the monitor webpage all the components (pos, gwia, webacc) all show green and happy, but the MTA shows the "Not Listening" status. Here's the fun part.
When monitoring the MTA using the MTA console everything looks fine.
However, when you click on the "Not Listening" link in GroupWise monitor it shows the MTA's address as the old Netware server's address that we migrated from. Hence the "Not Listening" status. Not sure why the old address is showing. I've looked all through the startup files for the post offices, MTA, GWIA and Webacc for anything that might reference the old MTA's ip address, but couldn't find anything.
It's really not a big deal since we can monitor it via the MTA's console, but it would be nice to have it available in the GroupWise monitor page so we can set traps, notifications, etc, etc.
Is there anyway I can fix this?

I will attempt to make a backup of the main DB and then rebuild it and then the POAs afterwards and see if that fixes anything. On another note... do you think that bad link information in the databases could be causing the post offices and webmail agents to just randomly quit once or twice daily. We've been having this issue since we upgraded to GW8. It may be another issue completely. Just curious what your thoughts were.

Is this your primary domain? Is it the parent of the GWMonitor object/app? If you have multiple domains, connect ConsoleOne to each one and verify the IP of the object in the MTA (not domain) properties. You might even consider a rebuild of the domain. If the child POs still don't connect w/o that switch (after you've verified the correct address in the MTA), you might consider rebuilding them too. They either aren't getting the updated info from the domain or the domain doesn't have the right info to begin with.
    Report back what you find.

  • MTA Not Listening

I'm not sure when this started (it might have been when I did an security patch upgrade recently) but when I bring up the GroupWise Monitor it shows that MTA is "Not Listening".
It appears that everything is working so I don't want to break something else in order to "fix" this issue.
The POA and GWIA have SNMP enabled and I can get to those screens just fine.
However, I see through the log file that SNMP is not enabled for MTA, (SNMP Disabled).
I see in some documentation to edit the snmpd.conf file (I found it in /etc/snmp) and add:
    dlmod Gwsnmp /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/lib/libgwsnmp.so
But, if the POA and GWIA have SNMP enabled, why isn't MTA.
Can I add that line with out breaking the POA and GWIA?
    Confuser than usual...

I can't get into the MTA web interface either (https://ip.of.mta:7180). I get an SSL connection error, which I hadn't gotten before. Nothing has changed with respect to settings in iMonitor or ConsoleOne, so I am unsure why this is happening. I noticed this first before I went into the GroupWise Monitor. I've looked over the MTA Object's configuration in ConsoleOne and I see the Certificate file and SSL Key file settings haven't changed and I located them in the directory where they should be. When I look at the log files for the MTA it looks to operating as it should <whew>. I just can't get to it. When I do a status of the GroupWise agents (rcgrpwise status) everything appears OK or if I do a restart the agents stop and restart as normal.

  • GWIA not responding on port 25

    Hello
we just installed GroupWise 7.0.1 Beta on OES Linux SP2. The problem we do
have is that GWIA can't be contacted on port 25, even local telnet
(i.e. "telnet ip 25" says "connection refused") won't work.
So we changed the GWA SMTP-Listening port to something else (5025) and
activated port translation on our router from port 25 to port 5025 and we
managed to get the whole thing up.
But we feel that this can't be the final solution, so:
why does GWIA not respond on port 25? (we searched in the runlevel Editor
of Yast for any services that might run on port 25 (i.e. sendmail) but
    didn't find any).
is there a linux command which shows what services are listening on what
ports? (i am mostly netware-expert, not linux that's why i'm asking).
    Thanks for any help
    Andrej

Disregard the previous post. I neglected to read through the entire
message. The only other thought that I have is that there is a firewall
setup that can be enabled on the OES box in YAST that might be interfering.
I am not sitting in front of a OES box, otherwise I'd point the direction to
find it. I believe it is in the Network settings.
    Sorry about the previous post.

  • GWIA not sending mail to the internet

Let me start out saying that i have no experience with Novell products. I am a person starting a local business and in need for a email server. I have chosen GroupWise 8 for many different reasons. I have Windows Server 2003. GroupWise 8 has been deployed successfully. I am able to receive emails from the internet, but not send emails to the internet. I ether get a error 450 or 550 error. Thats all on the GWIA. I have made a route.cfg. I have no idea if I have the correct IP address of the domain I'm trying to send email to(E.G gmail.com) How could I find out the IP Address of a email domain so I could put in the route.cfg file? I tried doing the ping but no luck. I have everything setup correcly on the domain register side. So, could some please describe what those error codes above mean and how this problem could be fix. Any kind of help will be appreciated. Once again, i have not experience with GroupWise or Novell Products. I'm trying to train myself!

you'd be just as well off with just one entry.

    telnet gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com 25

  • Polling information from GroupWise (Monitor) to Nagios

    Hi,
I am currently setting up a monitoring environment based on an Open Moniotoring Dustribution server (using a Nagios core). The setup performs fine so far and I am almost done figuring out how to get the data I want.
One of the big things left on my todo-list is our GroupWise-cluster. Since the cluster was installed and is serveiced by an external company and I have close to no knowledge of the inner workings of GroupWise, we as a group decided that it would be wise that I use read-only-SNMPv2 to monitor those servers. I wasn't exactly pleased when I learned that SNMP doesn't work on 64-Bit-Linux-servers.
After learning that we have a working GroupWise Monitor running, I was wondering if it is possible to poll Data from the GroupWise Monitor and get it to my Nagios-server.
If not, what else can I do in order to get my all of my monitoring done with Nagios.
    Thanks
    Fabian

    Hi,
I thought it would come to a solution like this. I guess I dont't have to use/learn curl since this could also be done using any script-language.
I hoped to find someone here who has already written a script for that.
After talking to our GroupWise-guy I am left with two options:
1)Waiting for the next Version which is rumored to include SNMP for 64-Bit-Versions
2)Writing a script which would take time
I'm inclined to go for option 1 because of time restrains.
    But thanks anyway.

I cannot connect my MacBook Air to a projector - It will not detect a 2nd monitor or display. I am using an Apple made Mini Display port to VGA adapter. As I read online I see that many other peple are having the same problem. Is this an Apple defect!!???? If so it just burst the bubble about how great macs are. I never had a problem with that on a PC. I hope I am wrong. What can you tell me?

    Hi There,
I have had the exact same issue but with a projector.
The issue lies with Mountian Lion 10.8.2.
I tried many a combination with no luck to get HDMI working.
Took my mac into the apple store and came to the conclusion it was the software, so I asked them to install 10.8 onto it (this is destructive so a backup is a must)
Bought my macbook home and voila, now displaying through my projector.
There is a small graphics update after 10.8.1 which seems to be the cause.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

I have an Ipod 5 and you can not listen to music unless you have headphones plugged in

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

    Thanks for the follow up.
Missing in this equation were the version of Premiere Elements that you were using and the computer operating system on which it was running. But...
The deed is done. But.....Until now and after you went ahead and moved to version 12, we now learn what version of Premiere Elements you were using. We still do not know the computer operating system involved.
You just said Premiere Elements 10. Premiere Elements 10 is hit by a serious known display issue if the computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card. In this issue, the only remedy is to roll back the driver version to about May 2013. The description of the problem and how to do the roll back are described in one of the Announcements at the top of this forum. What video card/graphics card does your computer use?
On another front, Adobe will be releasing a new version of Premiere Elements any day now. No one but Adobe knows the feature set for the new version. That type of information is announced at the moment of release of the new version.
So the remedy to the problem that you presented in this thread could have been...
    1. Rolling back the NVIDIA GeForce driver version to about May 2013 if possible (Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit, may not be possible)
    2. Move to another version of Premiere Elements (which you did)
I offer the above for consideration so that you can review your decisions. We are pleased to learn that Premiere Elements 12/12.1 works for you.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions and ask for clarifications, but remember that the answers are in the details.
    Best wishes,

  • Win XP SP3 Doesn't Boot Up on New MBP When Not Attached to External Monitor

Ok, here's a weird one for you.
New MBPro 15", bought 45 days ago. I created an NTFS partition, and successfully installed Win XP, and with the updates, got it to SP3.
When my laptop is connected to my Acer external monitor, it boots up fine. It takes a while (45secs to 1 minute) to even get to the Windows loading screen (unlike my wife's 13" MB which is nearly instantaneous to load Windows), but it does eventually get to Windows.
However, if I'm not connected to the monitor, it may/may not get to the Windows screen, but it never gets past it. E.g., it never lets me get to the login screen, or to the actual windows desktop itself. My only recourse is hard booting it and going back to Mac OS.
I've erased and created a new partition and reinstalled WinXP once, to no avail.
I'm guessing it's a video driver issue given that it works when plugged in to a monitor (although when plugged in, i have no issues with display on the laptop or monitor).
I have the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT display adapter. I've also installed the suggested NVIDIA Network Bus Enumerator. (I can't think of anything else that might be at issue in terms of drivers).
I was going to just go in and disable drivers, although I think that may be high risk, so I thought I'd check with y'all.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mark

Same problem here, spent half the day figuring out what was causing this, now I find another victim. Here's what fixed it for me: Restart WinXP with your ext. monitor connected, login to admin acct, go to "Start" menu>Control Panels>Printers and Other Hardware>NVIDIA Control Panel. Expand the Display folder on the left side and select "Set up multiple displays", then select the "Use only one display" radio button and make sure your laptop display is entered in the "Select the display you would like to use." box. Approve the changes and now it should restart without the ext. monitor connected.

  • ITunes stops updating podcasts / iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?

    Hi,
My iTunes is set to automatically update podcasts and keep the last five episodes of each podcast.
However, iTunes appears to stop updating podcasts after several (five?) unwatched episodes and gives me an exclamation mark in the podcast overview. Clicking on that, I get the message: "iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?"
This is not what I intend... and not  what I  told iTunes to do... (at least this my reading of the below settings)
This stopping is rather less then ideal: (1) if I am going away for two weeks, which I often do, I would still like to have the last five days of news, not the last five days of news back from the date I left, (2) I need to click update for approx. 20 podcast on regular basis, (3) my iPhone is synced to iTunes as soon as I come home, if iTunes does not have the podcasts downloaded, they are not copied over to the iPhone, and the iPhone will attempt to download the episodes via 3G next time I play the podcast on the go, (4) I am mainly using iTunes functions, such as smart playlists and podcasts, through another app (Plex, a fullscreen media player) and it is a pain to have to go to iTunes to manually do things. That is why this bothering me...
How can I get iTunes to behave as intended? (From reading through old posts I know that there is a Doug script adressing this problem, which I have just set up, but I would prefer to use internal settings if possible... maybe I am just missing a setting)
    Thank you for your ideas!

Thank you for the response, Roger!
OK, that's how it is then.
The iTunes podcasts settings should be reworded in that case because it suggest something different from what it does. And, of course, it would be ideal for Apple to make this more flexible and allow users to set up their podcast downloads in their way and not be so motherly (c'mon, Apple, your users are not as dumb as you think, and they have uncapped Internet connections these days anyway)...
Btw., for anyone interested, this is external script I am using now:
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=updateexpiredpodcasts
Including the "cron job" setup here:
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/2011/12/updated-update-expired-podcasts-v2-2-and-l aunchd-project/
Cannot tell how well it works because I have just set it up, other members of the forum say it works for them...
If anyone knows of in-app solutions, please share...
