Gzip compression issues from using a proxy?

Hello I am unable to load some websites now from suspected gzip compression issues? I have been using a proxy and now my firefox browser is messed up Plz Help [email protected]
Thanks

It is possible to autenticate to a proxy server, but the question is what tye of authentication your proxy is carrying out . "Basic" or "digest".If it is Basic then you can use Base64 authentication scheme. You have to first set the System property variable to find proxy server (like port and IP Address)

  • GZIP Compression Issue in Weblogic 8.1

    Has anyone experienced issues with gzip compression filtering in 8.1?
    After about 2 months of dev. and testing with the filter, a bug has been found
    in our portal, and I have traced it back to the filter that I downloaded from
    dev2dev code and utilities.
    It is strange. The only time I see an issue is when a user clicks the "back button"
    in the browser itself to go back to a previous page, AND then clicks a link (for
    example) in a portlet that is tied to an action in a jpf for that portlet. The
    error only happens for actions in a portlet that are local to that portlet (no
    forwarding to other portlets or anything fancy)...just pure "local internal forwards."
    If you do this, USING THE BACK BUTTON to get back to this page with the portlet,
    when you click the action, you are actually taken to the page where you were when
    you clicked the back button.
    I have re-created this is simple portals that have no content, so I know it is
    not something else I introduced.
    Any ideas? Maybe it is the filter-mapping pattern I am using??? I am currently
    mapping on *.portal, but this is the only situation that seems to break.

    For those interested, I have some updates on this subject and someone out there sent me a mail asking if I ever found anything out.
    Basically, when I encountered this issue the first time, I was working on a SP2 Portal. We were having numerous small bugs like this one with SP2 that centered around the back button or refresh button. BEA gave us a "super patch" back in July or so that when applied to our SP2 project, fixed our issue. I have sense moved onto SP3, and I did not see the compression issue (so I think SP3 must have the patches correctly setup...like I would assume it would).

  • Using native IIS 6.0 Gzip Compression in front of WLS 8.1 SP5

    (IIS 6.0 => ISAPI proxy(/*) => WLS 8.1 SP5 )
    Instead of usign a servlet filter and Gzip compression inside the, I would like to test the IIS 6.0 Gzip compression. I want to do this because the IIS server farm is severley underutilized in CPU and seems like the best use of that resource.
    It is easy to config this in IIS 6.0. However, I can get IIS served static pages back compressed, but requests proxied to WLS return uncompressed, even though I have configured DLL calls to be zipped inide IIS.
    The question is: has anyone done this and if so, what is the config.

    I am trying to solve the same issue. This is what I've discovered so far. I have been able to get page compression to work with IIS 4.0 and 5.0 using the iisproxy plugin. The trick was to add both "jsp" and "wlforward" extensions to the script file list to compress dynamic files.
    IIS 6.0 changed the compression module from an ISAPI plugin to internal code. The configurations look the same, but I am not able to get JSPs to be compressed. I can compress static files, I can compress ASP files so I know I have compression working and I know that I have dynamic file compression working.
    This is a great article on configuring compression in IIS, it should get you started in the right direction. I know it's from a .Net site, but the fundamentals are the same and it's very well written.
    http://dotnetjunkies.com/Article/16267D49-4C6E-4063-AB12-853761D31E66.dcik
    I am now trying to figure out how to get IIS 6.0 dynamic page compression to work with the iisproxy plugin. Any ideas?

  • Use of proxy media in viewing, then exporting projects from FCPx

    I am trying to get my head around the use of proxy media in FCPx and would appreciate feedback
    Up till now, having used H.264 files from various cameras, I have not had the need to use proxy files. I get smooth playback etc, no issues. Now, however, using the Blackmagic Pocket CC, and find that when I am 'on the run' and using a USB external drive, or even a firewire 800 drive, it struggles to playback the very large Prores files.
    I understand the use of proxy media files in playback, and to assist with smooth editing.
    Where I am lost is in how to ensure that any exported files from FPCx, either directly (or if I send to Compressor) are using the high quality Prores files, and not exporting based on the proxy files
    I see well, how to change the file for playback from prores to proxy and back, but how do I ensure the high quality file is used for export ?
    Best Wishes
    Paul

    The playback switch berween proxy/originals also switches what is to be used when sharing.
    When switching to originals and requesting to share the switch is locked until the sharing process completes (so you can continue editing, but using originals only).
    Not sure if this affects Compressor. I believe not.

  • Using GZIP Compressed Static Content

    I would like to have all of the Static Content (HTML, JS, CSS) compressed in advance to improve performance. I already have a compression filter for use on Dynamic Content.
    We have managed to compress all of the static stuff using the GZIP format. Currently we have the files following the naming convention of appending ".gz" to the end of each file as in "MyPage.html" becomes "MyPage.html.gz" in the WAR file.
    I was expecting that WebLogic would recognize this convention and automatically serve the appropriate file when the request came in. This doesn't seem to be happening:(
    Is there a configuration mechanism to make this work, or a different convention for handling this problem?

    Your idea should work, so let's walk through it:
    1. Create a new Cocoa Application project
    2. Create a new Objective-C class called "AppController"
    3. Place the following code in the header file:
    #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h>
    @interface AppController : NSObject {
    IBOutlet NSPopUpButton *popupButton;
    @end
    4.Place the following code in the implementation file (beware of curly quotes if you cut and paste):
    #import "AppController.h"
    @implementation AppController
    - (void)awakeFromNib
    [popupButton removeAllItems];// necessary to remove "Item 1", etc
    [popupButton addItemWithTitle:@"Test 1"];
    [popupButton addItemWithTitle:@"Test 2"];
    [popupButton addItemWithTitle:@"Test 3"];
    [popupButton addItemWithTitle:@"Test 4"];
    @end
    4. Save, and open the nib file in Interface Builder
    5. Drag an "Object" blue cube into the little Finder window, click on it, navigate to its Identity panel on the inspector, and set its class to "AppController"
    6. Open the Window, which should be blank, and drag in an instance of "Pop Up Button"
    7. To make the menu items from the AppController class appear in the popup menu, do the following:
    Control-click on the AppController object and drag a blue line up to the Pop Up Button in the Window.
    8. Save, build, and run.
    That should be enough to at least get the menu items to appear in the popup menu.

    But when i see the WebServer access log for the same WebService POST /yodsoap/services/CobrandLogin HTTP/1.1" 200 1783 "-" "Axis/1.1RC1"
    This case is happening when the request is compressed for the webservice. and the request headers are as follows:

  • Extracting MIME attachment from email using OSB proxy service - email transport

    Hi,
    I'm reading email messages(multipart/mixed) with attachments(pdf, zip, xml and csv) from MS Exchange Server 2010 using OSB proxy service email transport.I need to save the attachments to a local folder and process one of the attachments, an XML file. Below is the proxy service config.

    The polling is working fine. I've encoded the attachment variable to Base64 using a java callout.$attachments/ctx:attachment/ctx:body/ctx:binary-content has been passed as the byte[] input to the java method and the response is captured in $encodedAttachment. I've created a SaveFile BS(file type) with Request Message Type = Binary and Response Message Type = None. I've tried replacing the node ./ctx:binary-content in body variable with encodedAttachment in the request action of the Publish action to call the BS. One file is getting created with contents of the entire email, MIME headers and boundary parts along with the base64 encoded attachments.

    If I put a delete action in the request to Publish action for SaveFile BS to delete the $attachments, the created file contains only the email body part and the attachment boundary part is missing.
    I've uploaded the OSB log with full trace enabled.
    How can I pass the  encodedAttachment to the BS for saving the files?
    Would iterating through the $aatachment/ctx:attachment give me the individual attachments for saving and processing, as there are separate binary-content refs in them?
    Any help to achieve my requirement is highly appreciated.

    Hi Manoj,
    Thanks for the quick reply to my query.
    The thing is, the link you have provided talks more from changing the business Service configurations i.e. the type of the service etc, but the concern is, that the Business Service is already Implemented and hence the change would not be an appropriate option for me.
    Please let me know, if any more information is required.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Reverse Proxy Server and gzip compressed pages

    Hi ALL!
    Does Proxy Server in reverse proxy configuration works with gzip compressed pages? How it will serve different browser versions which are supports compression differently.
    Thanks. Happy New Year!

    Hi,
    Domain relaxing will not work in this setting, ref. RFC 2109 http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2109.txt
    What you need to do is to create a DNS alias for the portal on domain [something].[company].com. Then create a portal component which returns the MYSAPSSO2 cookie and create an URL iView for it with the DNS alias hostname and add it to the default framework page. In this way, persons logging in will get the MYSAPSSO2 cookie for both domains [sap subdomain].[network domain].local and [network domain].[company].com

  • GZip Compression (Yes this old chestnut Again)

    I have a client who requires this to work in .NET 4 Client Profile so no 4.5 compression improvements for me. All I need is 2 functions one to compress and one to decompress
    both of which take in and return unicode strings. I have spent weeks nay months searching tweaking writing etc. to no avail, I have looked at all the existing snippets I could find but they
    all either take in or return a Byte() or Stream or something else and when I tweak them to take/return a string they don't work. What I have so far (a snippet found online tweaked) is:
    Public Shared Function Decompress(bytesToDecompress As String) As String
    Using stream = New IO.Compression.GZipStream(New IO.MemoryStream(System.Text.Encoding.Unicode.GetBytes(bytesToDecompress)), IO.Compression.CompressionMode.Decompress)
    Const size As Integer = 4096
    Dim buffer = New Byte(size - 1) {}
    Using memoryStream = New IO.MemoryStream()
    Dim count As Integer
    Do
    count = stream.Read(buffer, 0, size)
    If count > 0 Then
    memoryStream.Write(buffer, 0, count)
    End If
    Loop While count > 0
    Return System.Text.Encoding.Unicode.GetString(memoryStream.ToArray())
    End Using
    End Using
    End Function
    Public Shared Function Compress(Input As String) As String
    Dim bytes() As Byte = System.Text.Encoding.Unicode.GetBytes(Input)
    Using stream = New IO.MemoryStream()
    Using zipStream = New IO.Compression.GZipStream(stream, IO.Compression.CompressionMode.Compress)
    zipStream.Write(bytes, 0, bytes.Length)
    Return System.Text.Encoding.Unicode.GetString(stream.ToArray())
    End Using
    End Using
    End Function
    However the problem is if you run the following you get nothing out.
    Decompress(Compress("Test String"))
    Please help me; I know this has been covered to death elsewhere but I am missing something when tweaking I am sure it's something very simple but it is causing me great stress! Many Many Thanks Indeed!

    I have now found a workaround which may be useful to others so I am posting it here, it doesn't do exactly what was described above which would be ideal but here is the code:
    Private Sub WriteCompressed(ByVal Path As String, Data As String)
    Using WriteFileStream As IO.FileStream = IO.File.Create(Path)
    Using DataStream As New IO.MemoryStream(System.Text.Encoding.Unicode.GetBytes(Data))
    Using Compressor As IO.Compression.DeflateStream = New IO.Compression.DeflateStream(WriteFileStream, IO.Compression.CompressionMode.Compress)
    DataStream.CopyTo(Compressor)
    End Using
    End Using
    End Using
    End Sub
    Private Function ReadCompressed(ByVal Path As String) As String
    Using ReadFileStream As IO.FileStream = System.IO.File.OpenRead(Path)
    Using DataStream As New IO.MemoryStream
    Using Decompressor As IO.Compression.DeflateStream = New IO.Compression.DeflateStream(ReadFileStream, IO.Compression.CompressionMode.Decompress)
    Decompressor.CopyTo(DataStream)
    Return System.Text.Encoding.Unicode.GetString(DataStream.ToArray)
    End Using
    End Using
    End Using
    End Function
    Many thanks indeed to everyone who helped and any more input is still welcome. Thanks again!
    That's great. You should propose your post as the answer to end the thread.
    I just finished with a different method. However I will guess the real issue is that strings can not contain various binary values such as Nulls, Delete, Bell, Backspace, etc (as you can see zeros in RTB2 in the image below which are null
    values).
    I forgot to add that during testing I was receiving errors because compressed data written to a string then read from a string into bytes and decompressed would return errors during the decompressing that the data did not contain a valid GZip header. Therefore
    when GZip compresses it uses some format for the compressed data that is known to Gzip. Otherwise it would not have a header in the compressed data.
    You can see what binary values (Decimal) would be in a string at this link
    Ascii Table.
    Therefore I used the code below to get a string from a RichTextBox1 to a byte array. That is compressed and output to a byte array.
    The information in the "compressed" byte array is then converted byte by byte to the bytes value in RichTextBox2 with each value separated by a comma.
    To decompress the string in RichTextBox2 that text is split into a string array on a comma. Then each item is converted to a byte into a List(Of Byte). The List(Of Byte).ToArray is then decompressed back into a byte array and that byte array is converted
    to a string in RichTextBox3.
    I suspect the actual compressed byte array could be written to a binary file using the
    BinaryWriter Class if the original strings were supposed to be compressed and attached as files for transfer somewhere.

  • Creative Cloud cannot connect from behind a proxy.

    One of the most stupid things that Adobe has done is this stupid Creative Cloud solution. We have multiple users who are unable to access the Creative Cloud because the "brains" (and I use that term loosely) at Adobe decided to change their application without any warning.
    When using the Adobe Application Manager, the software would not connect to the Adobe servers when using a proxy, but that was fine because at least authentication was working. Now even that is failing since the update from Adobe Application Manager to Creative Cloud Desktop App. After much testing, and countless trials in trying to find a full application which does need to be constantly updated everytime it does connect to the internet, I was able to work out that if a proxy pac file is being used, then the application does not connect and fails because it cannot find the internet. When a proxy server and port is used, then it connects, but this is not a suitable solution.
    Is there anyone who has been able to use the software with proxy pac files enabled?
    Btw, here are some interesting reponses from the Adobe tech support who was neither supporting nor tech savvy:
    "Do you have a connection to the internet?" - After remoting on to my machine ...FROM THE INTERNET
    "You need to start the machine in safe mode." ME:"Why?" Support: "Because this free up resources, for the application to run"
    "It looks like the Internet connection is not working" - After repeatedly clicking Retry
    "I'll contact the 2nd tier support and we will be able to help you, because our main concern is that you can get a connection" Me:"How long will that take?" Support: "A couple of hrs" - 4 hrs later and still no word from tech support and I have already worked out the issue.
    So for any Adobe people, who actually want to help, I'm still waiting on my callback.
    All others, let me know if anyone has been able to get this working with proxy pac files.

    For any one trying to get this stupid thing working, I was able to find a solution for our environment.
    Namely adding both a proxy pac file for the users and then enabling the Proxy server settings for the application. This allowed the Adobe Creative Cloud application to connect to the internet and update. This also meant that we didn't need to add the sites into our filter list as they were already enabled for the users.
    Hope this helps others trying to get this working

  • Facebook is my home page on Mozilla; everytime I go to log in, my browser has been changed to proxy. I have to change this every time in order to get face book to load; how do I stop the browser from changing to proxy?

    My internet option state "do not use a proxy" but each time I go to long in on Firefox to Facebook, the proxy server has been changed to showing proxy and I can not get on to facebook until I go in and change it back to Do Not use Proxy. The problem is the setting does not stay but every time I go back to long on it's back to proxy server? How do I get it to not change???

    For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
    That all works.
    It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
    I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
    Thanks for listening,
    Melissa

  • Unable to set session in Oracle Portal useing reverse proxy

    I have deployed a reverse proxy (using Oracle HTTP Server) in front of a Oracle Portal Install (version 10.1.2.0.2). The steps followed to set this up came from the following documents:
    Steps mentioned in Section 9.2 Configuring a Reverse Proxy for OracleAS Portal and OracleAS Single Sign-On for a reverse proxy on a Oracle HTTP Server.
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_15/core.1012/b13998/variants.htm#ASTED005
    Also performed steps mentioned in -> Section 5.3.7 - Step 7: Enable Session Binding on OracleAS Web Cache of the Oracle® Application Server Portal Configuration Guide 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) -- B14037-03.
    My current (example names shown only)setup details are as follows:
    Reverse Proxy for SSO server (running on internal.oracle.com:7777): proxy.oracle.com:7777
    Reverse Proxy for Portal server (running on internal.oracle.com:7778): proxy.oracle.com:7778
    With the above steps completed, I can successfully use the http://proxy.oracle.com:7777/pls/orasso for login into SSO without any issues.
    Users get authenticated successfully.
    I can also use http://proxy.oracle.com:7778/pls/portal for viewing pages on the portal fine . All self referencing links have also been successfully modified to point to proxy.oracle.com:7778.
    However, an attempt to login in the portal is not successful. Clicking on the 'Login' link successfully redirects to the SSO login page (http://proxy.oracle.com:7777/<login-page>). However, after successful authentication, the success page fails to show up and the user gets shown the initial login portal home page again.
    There are no error messages shown on the screen.But it seems that user session is failing to be initiated/set correctly, as shown by the log file (in $PORTAL_ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_Portal/application-deployments/portal/OC4J_Portal_default_island_1/application.log ):

    Hi Chris,
    The begin of the expection stack gives you the reason:
    06/11/03 09:13:59 java.sql.SQLException: The method 'setSavepoint' cant be called when a global transaction is active
    The reason is, that either the whole global transaction must be commited or rollbacked.
    I don't know your actual configuration, but between the methods begin() and commit()/rollback() of the UserTransaction instance, OC4J/OracleAS uses a global transaction (= XA transaction) in your configuration. The state of a global transactions is completely under the control of the application server and several restrictions must be considered. One of them is, that you can't use the method setSavePoint/. E.g. you can't also call the method setAutoCommit(true) in this state, or change the transaction isolation level via setTransactionIsolation(newLevel).
    This is NOT a limitation of the OC4J/OracleAS but is true for ALL application servers.
    P.S. I can successfully set savepoints and rollback to savepoints in weblogic 9.0This means, that WebLogic 9.0 doesn't use a global transaction in this case.
    Because I don't know your configurations (Oracle and WebLogic) I can't say, why the behave different in this situation.
    Best,
    Manfred
