Hacked email. PW reset. Constant requests for passwords come up in several apps.

MacBook 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. 3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. OS 10.7.5.
After XXXXXXX@bellsouth email was hacked I got pw reset and email receipt/send is fixed (except for these pw request popups).
Constant requests for passwords come up during use of different pieces of sw, incl all those listed below:
"syncdefaultsd wants to use the xxxxxxxxx keychain"
and
"SafariDAVclient wants to use the xxxxxxxxx keychain"
and
"ICAL wants to use the xxxxxxxxx keychain"
and
"AddressBookSourceSink wants to use the xxxxxxxxx keychain"
and
"Messaging Agent wants to use the xxxxxxxxx keychain"
and
"ICAL can't login to your XXXXXXX account because your password may be incorrect",
where xxxxxxxxx is consistent.
I thought I had fixed this in Keychain but evidently I have not. Putting the passwords in does not 'keep' them in place.
Any help with how to basically 'start over' with keychain and eliminate this annoying, constant problem?
Thank you ahead of time.

  • Constant request for email account password

30 days ago all of my Verizon.net email accounts started to request the password. After entering the password I get the email. Then without exiting out of Outlook the next push of email requires the password to be entered again. I've verified all of the passwords are correct by logging in through Webmail and again thought Outlook.  I have exhausted every potential fix from Microsoft and have proven this is a Verizon issue.  I have two other email domains one being Gmail and the other is from my website which is a .com and these do not require a password each time I receive or send email.
Anyone have any ideas?  I hate to call the support number since you end up with script readers and go through the same process I've seen listed in tis forum. This one looks like something for the level 2 or 3 support team.

I would suggest that anyone having this issue verify they have updated their servers to the NEW server settings of pop.verizon.net / smtp.verizon.net instead of the old incoming/outgoing servers.
For the sake of example, we are going to pretend that we are setting up fictional account "[email protected]" and the password for logging into that account in webmail is "fakepassword" - Again, this is a fictitious account for the sake of an example.
The settings for using Verizon's servers would be:
    Incoming Server: pop.verizon.net
    Server Requires Authentication: Yes
    Username: fakeacct
    Password: fakepassword
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 995
    Outgoing Server: smtp.verizon.net
Server Requires Authentication: Yes (You can set it to use the same settings as incoming, or manually enter the username and password.)
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 465
If you are given the option anywhere for Secure Password Authentication (SPA), set it to No or Normal
These settings should work unless you have a Verizon/Yahoo account, in which case the server names are: incoming.yahoo.verizon.net -and- outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
If all of that is set up and it's still not working, your best bet is to provide a screenshot of your settings (with personal information blocked/removed) and any errors you are getting.

  • HT1937 How do I put rescue email to reset my security question password?

How do I put rescue email to reset my security question password?

You cannot(without correctly answering two of the questions) and need to ask Apple to reset them; ways of doing so include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • Keep getting a request for password "for the CalDAV account for my email account when I log in my iPhone password. ????

I keep getting a request "for the CalDAv account" when I log in using my iPhone password on my iPhone.  Just started happening.   ????

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare(or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
The operator will take you through some steps you may have already tried, however they need to be sure they have exhausted all usual approaches before trying to reset your account, so you should try to be helpful and show patience with the procedure.
The operator will need to verify they are speaking to the account holder and may ask you some questions that only the account holder could know, and you will need to answer them if the process is to proceed.
Once the operator has verified your identity they will send a message through to your device which contains an alpha numeric code, which you will need to read back to them.
Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do.

  • My email address has changed on iphone, but the orignal old email address keeps popping up for password and I cannot reset it as my old email address was hijacked and closed.  How can i use my current email address for all iphone functions?

I have iphone4s with the operating system of 8.1.  I changed my email address which was used to register my iphone due to hijacking.  I am able to read all my emails using the new address.  However, I can not download apps as it keep asking me to provide the password for the original registered email address.  I do not have the access to the email address, so I can not retreive the password.  I want to clear this mess by resetting everything, and register my current email address as the only one to communicate on my iphone.  Please teach me how?

settings - app/iTunes store - sign out and sign back in with your new id.
Note - if your older apps needs an update it will use your old apple id and password, as Apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchase it.
    You can't merge apple id.

  • Why was I sent an email about resetting my apple ID password?

I updated some apps on my iPad and suddenly there was an email in my box called HOW TO RESET YOUR APPLE ID PASSWORD. Why?

Dunno for sure, but don't click any links in that mail.
Go to your computer (if you have itunes on your computer) and log into iTunes that way. It'll tell you if you need to change things.

  • OSX' constant prodding for passwords driving me crazy

I have an Ibook G4 running OS 10.3.9 (768MB) and am really getting annoyed at the system's constant prodding for my Admin or keychain password. It happens whenever I go on-line, either websurfing or checking email. Even more annoying is that supplying the password doesn't stop the prodding--it continues! Is there anything I can do to stop this? Is this an indication that something is amiss? I've endured this before, and believe I corrected it by turning off the security settings on my Airport Extreme, an unsatisfactory solution.
(I'm almost postive there's a direct relationship between this problem and having active WPA security on AE, as I only recently restored password protection on the Airport, and that's when the problem recurred.)
    Message was edited by: pcherashny

I don't the Airport Extreme has anything to do with it. That's part of the network. Once you are connected, that's it. I use WPA/WPA2 Personal on my Airport Extreme Base Station (the new square one), and I don't get such prompts. You could verify this by turning off security on the base station temporarily to see if it stops.
The admin user/password prompt usually pops up when you are trying to install applications or making a change to a non-user part of the System. It's part of security. Since it's popping up constantly, maybe there is something wrong with permissions. If you have not done so recently, run the Repair Permissions routine from Disk Utility.

  • Repetitive requests for password

I use AOL mail. Recently, Thunderbird started repetitively asking for passwords even though they are saved. Sometimes clicking retry or x'ing it out seems to let it go forward. I did switch from pop to imap so don't know if that is part of the problem. It happens randomly and especially if I select a saved folder. I even deleted Thunderbird and the associated appdata files and did a new download to reinstall. The problem still happens. I have also experienced it with my laptop so I think it is a Thunderbird problem, but will have to discontinue using Thunderbird if it continues. Would hate to do that as I have used the program for years and have really enjoyed it.

I think I have fixed the problem. I started to think that if the retry would work after a while then maybe Thunderbird was not allowing enough time for AOL to connect and respond. I opened the configuration manager and searched for timeout entries and found that email server timeouts were all set at 29. I doubled them all to 60 and now Thunderbird seems to be behaving properly.
As this is a recent problem I don't know if AOL response time has slowed down or if a recent Thunderbird update changed the AOL default. Either way I think the answer if for Mozilla to increase the default timeout for AOL email.
Thanks to christ1 for the response. It didn't solve the issue, but it did get me to thinking about the speed issue between Thunderbird and AOL and that led me to the solution.

  • BitLocker Activated - Not request for password

    Hi friends!
Today I activated the BitLocker on my operating system (C:\), without the use of TPM.
But, in the startup the operating system is not prompted for the password for decrypt, why?
How can I do to request the password to decrypt the BitLocker drive every time I boot the operating system?
    I use the Windows 8.1.
    Thank you

    Hi,
Generally speaking, this events only occures when BitLocker encryption failed. Therefore, please check your C drive encryption status firstly.
If C drive encrypted, how about reboot your PC? Will the problem occures? Please feel free let us know.

  • HT5312 How come the option to send an email to reset the questions doesn't come up?

I have forgot my security questions, and I was told there is an option to send a reset link to your second email account. I do have a second email account linked with my apple I.d but the option to send a reset link does not come up. Will loveeee for someone to help thanks x

        1.    Start here (change country if necessary) and navigate to 'Password and Security', reset your security questions using the link provided, you will receive an email to your rescue address, use the link in the email and reset your security questions.
        2.    If that doesn't help, you don't receive a reset email or you don't have a rescue address, you should contact AppleCare who will initially try to assist you with a reset email or if unsuccessful will pass you to the security team to reset your security questions for you.
        3.    If you are in a region that doesn't have international telephone support try contacting Apple through iTunes Store Support.

  • Every time I send an email, OSX sends a request for admin name and password. How can I stop this?

OS X want to make changes. Type an administrator's name and password to allow this. OS X wants to use the "System" keychain."

    Hello rosern,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you're continuously being prompted to enter the administrator password to unlock your Keychain when you're using Mail, then I'd like you to please follow the directions outlined below.
If you entered the correct password in the password dialog in Mail, but continue to be asked for your password, try these suggestions.
In Keychain Access, locate and delete the email account password item.
In Disk Utility, select the volume (for your hard disk or disks) in the list, click First Aid, then Verify Disk. After you’ve verified (and repaired, if necessary) the disk, try sending yourself a message.
Mail (Yosemite): If Mail keeps asking for your password
    Take care,
    Alex H.

  • Constant requests for login password

Why as an Administrator on my Mac am I being ask constantly for logins? Messages wants a login, iTunes wants a login when i search my library, identityservicesd wants a login everyone wants my login password everytime I turn on my mac, what gives? PLease someone explain whats happening here

    Hi,
In normal circumstances the Login keychain is unlocked with the same Password that login you into to your Mac Use account.
If they are different you need to unlock the keychain for "everything" to gain access.
You can of course change the password of the keychain
Go to Applications/Utilities and open the Keychain Access App
Open the Preferences  and check the First Aid section.
See also the Edit Menu > Change Password  (you have to highlight  a particular keychain in the list).
