Handling java.io.IOException ?

Hi !
Keep getting the following error :
"Unreported Exception java.io.IOException; must be caught or declared to be thrown"
Using a throw as in "public void doGet(HttpServletResuest svreq, HttpServletResponse svresp) throws IOException" works well but
I want to catch it along with SQLException and Exception :
... (fragment code follows) ...
public class LstEmpHandle extends HttpServlet
public void doGet(HttpServletRequest svreq, HttpServletResponse svresp)
{ ... some declarations ...
try { ... more code...
} catch (IOException exc ) {"IOException: "+ exc.getErrorCode() + " : " + exc.getMessage();}
catch (SQLException exc) {..;.;}
catch (Exception exc){...}
finally (...)
That is the only complain the compiler has got !

Hi !
I do have "System.out.println" which I did not include in my fragment code.
If I do this, there are no compile-time errors
public void doGet(HttpServletRequest svreq, HttpServletResponse svresp) throws IOException
{  ResultSet rs = null;
Connection myconn = null;
Statement mystmt = null;
int rowCnt = 0;
PrintWriter out =svresp.getWriter() ;
svresp.ContentType("text/html");
try { ... code code code ...
} catch ( SQLException exc)
{ System.out.println("error code : " + exc.getErrorCode() + " :: " +                  exc.getErrorMessage());}
catch (Exception exc)
{System.out.println("Exception :" + exc.getErrorMessage());}
finally { try ... etc ...}
However, if I want to trap the IOException along with other exceptions I get the aforementioned error:
public void doGet(HttpServletRequest svreq, HttpServletResponse svresp)
{ ResultSet rs = null;
Connection myconn = null;
Statement mystmt = null;
int rowCnt = 0;
PrintWriter out =svresp.getWriter() ; //javac throws compile time error here
svresp.ContentType("text/html");
try { ... code code code ...
} catch (IOException exc)
{ System.out.println(IOException occurred :" + exc.getMessage());}
catch ( SQLException exc) // here is where error is at compile time
{ System.out.println("error code : " + exc.getErrorCode() + " :: " +                  exc.getErrorMessage());}
catch (Exception exc)
{System.out.println("Exception :" + exc.getErrorMessage());}
finally { try ... etc ...}

    Hi,
    Thank you for the quick response.
    I tried that, I can connect so wls:/offline> nmConnect('weblogic','password','10.110.90.156','5556','ClassicDomain','/u0/app/oracle/product/middleware/user_projects/domains/ClassicDomain');
    Connecting to Node Manager ...

    wls:/nm/ClassicDomain>
    but on
    nmStart(serverName="AdminServer",domainDir="/u0/app/oracle/product/middleware/user_projects/domains/ClassicDomain")
    Starting server AdminServer ...

    wls:/nm/ClassicDomain>
    And the AdminServer log shows security authentication error. Wondering why since I am not entering password when I do nmStart?
    Do you have an idea?
    Thank you

    Hi,
    I am facing the exact same issue when getting a big jar of more than 7 megs. It seems to occur in some special network configuration that I am not yet able to figure out. It is obviously linked to the fact that the jar is unpacked on the client side.
    Anybody ran into this one and understood the root cause?Please, don't resurrect old threads, and don't use signatures with addresses. I'm locking this thread.

  • Java.io.IOException: Permission denied

    Hi All,
    Having a bit of trouble out of a school project. I need to save information to an XML file and read from it and put those values into fields. Writing to the file is no big deal, however I get a Permission Denied error when I attempt to read the data back in. My code is attached:

    FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream(filename);
    System.out.println("Here2");
    InputSource inputSource=new InputSource(in);
    System.out.println("Here3");
    String xmlShape = xPath.evaluate("/Volume_Calculator/Shape",inputSource);

  • Catch(java.io.IOException ioe) help

    Hi. I have used
    static BufferedReader keyboardInput = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in)); and tried to read what the user will enter from an input box, im expecting interger, character, integer to be entered.
    try{
      int  newOp1 = Integer.parseInt(keyboardInput.readLine());
      char newOp  = (char) keyboardInput.readLine().charAt(0);
      int  newOp2 = Integer.parseInt(keyboardInput.readLine());
    }I can catch the error with
    catch(java.io.IOException ioe){but i dont know how to go about hangling th errors, any ideas? thanks a lot :-)

    but i dont know how to go about hangling th errors,
    any ideas? thanks a lot :-)Well, you might print out the stack trace (ioe.printStackTrace()), then retry. Or print the stack trace and then just use default values, or wrap the exception in one more appropriate for that layer and throw the new exception, or just not catch IOE in the first place and declrae your method to throw it and let your method's caller decide how to handle it.
    (The last two--wrap and rethrow, or just let it bubble up--are the most common.)
    As for "fixing" it, that really depends on the nature of the exception and the semantics of your program. If you get an exception reading from the keyboard, there's probably not much you can do about it.
    If you get an exception creating a file in GUI program, you might put up a dialog box telling the user the file couldn't be created, asking them if they want to try a different location or retry or cancel.

  • Java.io.IOException: HTTPS hostname wrong

    Hello
    I was trying to open a connection to secure URL and post content to it.
    I got the following exception:
    java.io.IOException: HTTPS hostname wrong: should be <165.112.121.195>
    at sun.net.www.protocol.https.HttpsClient.b(DashoA12275)
    Its apparantly because the connection is
    com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol.https.DelegateHttpsURLConnection
    not
    sun.net.ssl.www.protocol.DelegateHttpsURLConnection
    I tried setting the system property
    System.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs","sun.net.www.protocol");
    to force JVM to use the newer Delegate.
    Its still doent work. I use JDK 1.4.2_05. I deploy my application in OC4J 9.0.4
    Interesting thing is, I use this code in two different applications, it works in
    one and doen't work in one. Both containers use same JDK. Both are OC4J
    containers.
    Any thoughts? I would appreciate.
    thanks
    Raghavan

    Do you mean?
    System.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs","sun.net.ssl.www.protocol");

  • Java.io.IOException: Connection reset by peer

    Hi,
    I'm writing a web app that has to encode jpeg to return pictures in servlet response. It seems to work fine under tomcat web server, but it crashes under iplanet when a client posts a lot of requests in a very short time : when I try to write in the ServletOutputStream, I get the following exception, and then it seems that my iplanet server doesn't handle such a case ? Any idea ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sebastien
    java.io.IOException: Connection reset by peer

    com.iplanet.server.http.servlet.NSServletSession.write(NSServletSession.java:165)

    at
    com.iplanet.server.http.servlet.NSServletOutputStream.write(NSServletOutputStream.java:292)
    at
    ...

    More details :
    I try to increase load by submitting lot of requests (from a single client), causing many of these requests to be aborted (I assume), so when I try to prepare the response (server side), I catch a IOException : connection reset by peer. Simultaneously, I can see in Iplanet's error logs the following snippet :
    [11/May/2004:19:04:55] failure (12789): Error accepting connection
    -5928, oserr=130 (Connect aborted) [11/May/2004:19:05:09] failure

    [11/May/2004:19:05:12] failure (12789): Error accepting connection

    Any idea ?

  • Java.io.IOException: TLS SSLContext not available

    Hi all,
    I'm new to https and SSL. I had my eclipse configured for non-ssl mode and working fine. now I'm trying to change my tomcat to HTTPS.
    I created a new certificate using the keytool and gave the password changeit. I found the .keystore file in my user home directory.
    I added the following lines to my %TOMCAT_HOME%/conf/server.xml
    <Connector port="443"
    maxThreads="150" minSpareThreads="25" maxSpareThreads="75"
    enableLookups="false" disableUploadTimeout="true"
    acceptCount="100" debug="0" scheme="https" secure="true"
    clientAuth="false" sslProtocol="TLS" />
    And the following line to %TOMCAT_HOME%/conf/web.xml
          <security-constraint>
    <web-resource-collection>
    <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
    </web-resource-collection>
    <user-data-constraint>
    <transport-guarantee>CONFIDENTIAL</transport-guarantee>
    </user-data-constraint>
         </security-constraint>
    I copied both jce.jar and jsse.jar to %TOMCAT_HOME%/common/lib
    When I try to start my tomcat using eclipse tomcat plugin, It is giving me the following error

  • Help...java.io.IOException Problem

    Hello,
    I am having problems running Weblogic 4.5.1 as Windows NT Service but no
    problems when running from command window.
    The configuration is such:
    Hardware:
    Dual Processor PIII, 1GB memory, 2 NICs, mirrored internal RAID SCSI drive
    on Compaq 1850R
    OS:
    Windows NT 4.0 SP5
    Configuration:
    JVM: JDK 1.2.2 (heap size 384M) from Sun
    Weblogic 4.5.1 (Server version value=4.5.1 - 128 bit domestic version)
    weblogic.system.executeThreadCount=40
    weblogic.system.nativeIO.enable=true
    weblogic.system.enableConsole=true
    If I start the weblogic server from the command window and start throwing
    https requests to it, the server works fine for as many number of messages
    as I want and for as long as I want.
    But when I start the server from the services window in the control panel,
    after 98th message it starts giving error (found ofcourse in the log file
    only). The snippet of the log file is shown below:

  • Java.io.IOException: SysCall : bind() failed

    Hello -
    I am the support engineer for an OEM Itronix of a rugged handheld device with PXA25x (ARM4VI) processor that is running WM 5.0. Potential customer in Ireland has sent me the following log reporting that the main problem is probably the java.io.IOException: Syscall : bind() failed. I have attached the actual log file below.
    My question is: 1. how can I best debug this issue? I doubt that anything is using port 45000? Unless customer unknowing is loading something before hand that would be using this port? I ran a netstat program on the ports of my device and by default there is nothing in our handheld that uses anything remotely close to port 45000.
    2. I'm not certain as to what version of Creme they are using - I suspect it must be Creme 2.7a as they claim they have run this on another WM 5.0 device and sent me logs showing that it did not have a java.io.IOException: Syscall : bind() failed exception - only our handheld failed with this exception evidently?
    Note that I don't have the MI System to attempt to recreate this, nor do I have any prior experience with SAP MI (although that may change real fast). I do have DB2e and Creme and have used both in the past.
    Can anyone give me some suggestions and help on how to help debug this on our device?
    Thanks Neal Davis
    Sorry about the long log - but maybe it will help show big picture:

    Thanks Jo for your input - I have investedigated and still not certain of what is really going on and if this applies or not.
    I did get a screen shot back from the customer and here is what it looks like (had to type out as I don't see a way to post and image to this forum):
    Internet Explorer
    Screen Shot
    SAP
    Synchronization Log
    -Synchroniztion started
    -Connection set up (without proxy) to: http://
    headsap001s:50000/meSync/servlet/meSync?
    ~sysid=mob&
    -Successfully connected with server.
    -Processing of inbound data began.
    -Synchronisation problems: Transport-layer (http) sync
    exception raised (root cause: Exception while
    synchronizing (java.net.SocketException: Remote
    Connection Closed: Remote connection closed))
    One suspicious thing I noticed about the screen shot above is Syncronization or Syncronizing is always spelled with a "z" except in one case above is spelled with an "s" - the UK spelling method? I check the screen shot several times and this is not a typo on my part it is how it is in the actual screen shot - almost if someone changed the log file being reported to the screen?
    Can someone comment on the error, has this been seen by anyone else and was there a solution?
    Also how difficult is it to hook up the entire solution so that I can recreate at my desk? I have DB2e and Java Creme (3.28). I need SAP MI I guess and probably need to set up sometime of server so I can replicate the whole process of installation and synchronization. What is the minimum I can do to replicate this and can I get a SAP MI system as a demo to put this whole puzzle together?
    Thanks so much for any input anyone can provide on above.
