Has anyone has developed a driver which uses labview to control an EPIX(R)D PCI Digital Video Capture Board?

We have an EPIX(R) D PCI Digital Video Capture Board from EPIX Inc. worked with Image Pro Plus and a
Kodak Megaplus 1.4 CCD Camera. This camera is an old model with Camera Control Unit. Now we use Excel Macro works with all of these software and hardware and the whole system works excellent. Now we intend to update the software to Labview 6.1, IMAQ vision builder and IMAQ vision. But we didn't find the driver to let Labview work with EPIX(R) D PCI Digital Video Capture Board. I have contactd Epix Inc. They said some customers have developed their own driver for labview and it works fine. But this company doesn't support this driver. It will be appreciated if anyone ca
n provide this driver for us. Thank you very much.

George. You probably don't have many options with the Epix board. However, if your Epix software enables you to save files to disk, then you can open them from LabVIEW and process them with Vision or Vision Builder.
Another option is to contact Graftek (www.graftek.com) or ImageMill (www.imagemill-tech.com). They have created drivers for third party image acquisition boards in the past and they may have one for your Epix board.
A third option, of course, is to upgrade your Epix board to an NI IMAQ board. Your sales contact within NI may even be able to give you a discount on the trade in, but I can't guarantee it.
Good luck!

Has anyone found a workaround driver for using a Xerox WorkCentre PE220 Series printer with Mountain Lion?

    John -
My "Use" menu only contains Apple print drivers.  And Canon drivers, from the location I set this machine up.  None for my home use....which is a Xerox machine.
Not being on the menu, I don't know how to acquire this generic driver.
    Any further helpful hints?
I appreciate your thoughts and help.

I have developed one application software using Labview 8.5 in which i am collecting data from 5 temprature controllers on serial line.
This software is done and successfully installed on customer side.
Now the customer want this software to be run on server and some fixed number of clients should access this with some login security.
Is this fascility available with National Instruments in which i can installed this standalone application in server and allow some clients to access this with
    proper login?
    Regards,
    Vaibhav

Yes, that is possible. Multiple clients can access the VI using Web Publishing tool and control the VI operation. However, only one client has the control of the VI at one instance. The client needs to right click on the web page displaying the front panel of the running VI and ask for control and then release control after the execution to let other clients to ask for the control subsequently. The LabVIEW VI needs to be running upon the server computer since closing LabVIEW also closes the Web Publishing server and disconnects the currently connected clients.
    Please check this link http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/3797
You might want to create a stand alone executable for the same and then publish it over the internet for access by your desired clients. In that case, check this link http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/3A0087DBE9D31F9286256B19000A2DAE?OpenDocument

  • Use Labview to control two Picomotor actuators successively through Model 8753 iPico driver

    Hello All,
I want to use Labview to control two Picomotor actuators(belong to channel A ,C) successively through Model 8753 iPico driver.Since the example VI's
(Application.vi) from Newport's website just control one actuator at one time, so I copied the example code, thus there are two repetitive sections (see the attachment) in
the while loop structure. The test result was that two Picomotor actuators moved to respective target position circularly. And I found the test was correct when two Picomotor actuators belonged to different address. Can anyone tell why ,what should I do? Any assistance with this matter is greatly appreciated.

    BRox,
I had a look at the examples and obviously all it does is to communicate to the drive through RS232 with a proprietary protocol. With the documentation in the block diagram and the documentation of the protocol it shouldn't be too hard to understand what's going on, but on the other side NewFocus has obviously missed a chance to provide a high level and easy to use API for their product...
I can't dive too deeply into the features of this drive, but before you spend too much time on understanding their command language, you should check with NewFocus, if it is possible at all to meet your requirements with their hardware. The main reason why I doubt that is the slow communication speed provided by RS232. The only way to reach a sinusoidal motion profile of 30 to 70 Hz with this type of communication is running the complete trajectory generation and interpolation onboard. If you have planned to generate the motion profile in LabVIEW and send setpoint commands to the drive this will probably not work.
If the drive provides another command input (e. g. an analog +/- 10 V input for torque or velocity command signals), we can talk about alternative approaches.

  • How can i request the actual time code of digital video recorder, i am using RS232 interface for asking actual time code of digital video recording

how can i request the actual time code of digital video recorder, i am using RS232 interface for asking actual time code of digital video recording

If you have an RS-232 interface to the digital video recorder, it may be that you can send a command to the video recorder in order to get the time code sent back to your application - you would then read this as a string and then incorporate this data into your program.
The best source of help will be any documentation you have relating to the serial (RS-232) interface with the digital video recorder. This documentation should have commands that you can send to the recorder and expected response strings that you should get back from the device. This task should be straightforward but can often be frustrating without documentation about the video recorder. This will not be something that you can "guess" - past experience in writing serial communication ap
plications has shown that a good manual is your best friend.
Failing this if you have any source code for example programs that have already been written to communicate with the recorder, you might be able to extract the relevant ASCII strings and use them within your application. This is true whether you are using LabVIEW or a text-based language.

  • Using LabView to control a pump

I am a college student working on my senior project. My group is trying to use LabView to control two diaphragm pumps. We have a code written that generates the appropriate signal. The problem that we are having is getting this code to activate the pumps and make them run.
    Any help would be appreciated.

You really need to provide more information.
What is the interface between the code and the pumps? How does the code communicate with the interface? Are all the necessary drivers loaded?
What happens, exactly, when you run the code? Do you get any error messages? What are they?
Please post your code along with answers to these questions.  Also provide any other specific information which might be necessary for us to assist you.  Good questions can get good answers. Vague questions will only get more questions!

  • I want to play video on my computer to make some analysis to frames, the problem that I face ,I can't change video frame rate using labview, but I can change frame rate to the video out of labview using some program

    HI All
I want to play video on my computer to make some analysis to it's frames, the problem that I face ,I can't change video frame rate using labview, but I can change frame rate to the video out of labview using some program .
I used IMAQ AVI Read Frame VI
for example I have avi video It's frame rate is 25 fbs ,my image processing code is very fast that can process more 25 fbs,so I want to accelerate video acquisition

    Hi abdelhady,
I looked into this further, and reading an AVI file into LabVIEW faster than its frames per second won't be possible. LabVIEW could read in frames faster than 25fps, but because it will be pulling the available frame at that point in time this would just give you duplicate frames. If you want to be able to read in frames at faster than 25fps, you would need to speed up your AVI file before reading into LabVIEW.
There's a good shipping example to show how to read in from an AVI file, "Read AVI File.vi". You'll notice that they add timing to make sure that the while loop runs at the right speed to match up with the frames per second of the file being read. This is to make sure you're not reading duplicate frames.
    Thank you,

  • How to use LabView to control Primera Bravo II CD burner?

I am trying to use LabView to control the Primera Bravo II CD burner and label printer. The software that controls the Bravo II is PTPublisher. How to use LabView to communicate/control the PTPublisher? Please help, Thanks

    Hi Qian,
I installed PTPublisher on a virtual machine, and I was wondering what kind of tasks you wanted to control within LabVIEW.  From the program GUI, it appears like the only way to access functions is via mouse clicks.  Do you know of any other way to control the Bravo II CD burner besides the PTPublisher software?  If not, does the PTPublisher allow you to control it in some way other than clicking?

  • Help Using Labview to control Kikusui power supply with a PIA4850 controller

HI I need some help using Labview to control 4 Kikusui power supplies. We have a PIA4850 Kikusui power supply controller. I can use the visa test panel and see the PIA4850 but can see any of the power supplies. I have very limited use of Labview and only wrote a couple programs using GPIB. The PIA4850 is a USB controller and can control up to 32 PS. I can get it to work with a Excel demo software that came with the controllers so I know that it is working. Any help will be appreciated. I am using LabView 8.2 and have updated to the Ni-DAQ 9.0. I have a program that I need to incorporate the PIA4850 into once I figure out how to operate it. Thanks in advance.

HI and thanks for the help. I did get one power supply to work but have another problem. I need to control 4 power supplies at the same time and can only operate the one that is addressed N5!C1. If I set the other to N6!C1 and so on I get an error stating
“Error -1074135008 occurred at ki4800_2 Configure Voltage Level.vi Possible reason(s):IVI Error in the method "get_Item" in the component "Kikusui4800". E_IVI_UNKNOWN_CHANNEL_NAME: Unknown channel name (N6!C1)”
I am assuming that I should be able to change the node number and that will change the supply that I need to use. Everything works great if I use N5!C1 I can change any of the supplies to address 5 and can control it with no problem. I can even have multiple supplies with the same address N5!C1 (don’t think I should do that) and change them all at once. I need independent control of each supply.
I am in a pinch here and need to figure it out but could use some help. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
      Thanks

  • External hard drive which used to be recognised by my new iMac is no longer being recognised?

I recently bought an iMac. I have an external hard drive which was formatted to my old MacBook Pro. Initially it worked fine on my new iMac, but all of a sudden it is not being recognised by it. Any ideas what I can do?

The drive is probably probably starved for power. As electric motors age, they can demand more power. Get a powered USB hub and I suspect your problems will go away.
If you purchase another hard drive for a desktop Mac in the future, consider one that is self-powered. Much less troublesome.
Some people have reported that, if they reformatted the external drive for Mac (most are formatted for Windows), the existing drive may work without a hub. You can refomat the drive with Disk Utility. Select Macinstosh Extended (Journaled) as the format. This is a great strategy if you do not have to share the drive with a Windows computer.

  • How can I use LabView to control Altera Scripting

    Hi
I have kind of run into a stone wall. I am building a production test executive based on LabView. Part of this process includes loading an FPGA image on to a CFI flash that is in the JTAG chain. I am trying to make so that the production operators don't have to open a second application, select the right FPGA and Flash navigate to the file then load it, then go back to LabView and run the rest of the tests.
Altera has a command line interface that will let me load .cdf file.  The problem is that nowhere in Altera’s documentation does it show me how to first load the “Parallel Flash Loader IP” into the FPGA. The flash loader acts as a temporary bridge between the JTAG input and the CFI Flash.  I have looked on Altera’s Forums and have had an open ticket with Altera’s support engineers for more than a week.
I can’t be the first person to want to do this; I am hoping someone here has done it before. I would really rather not try to use the activeX controls to manipulate the windows based program.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (Note I am not trying to put LV code on the FPGA/Flash just use LV to control the process)
    Thanks in advance
Below is the error message and the script I am using. It almost works just missing the flash loader IP

    Hi Eric,
I got it figured out today, basically you have to load the Parallel Flash Loader first into FPGA ram. It is a special .sof file (pfl_epXXXX.sof) based on your FPGA. Code is actually pretty straight forward, using the Sys Exec VI. Use the windows based programmer to generate the .cdf file that identifies your FPGA, attached Flash and .pof file .
Syntax was odd going into Sys Exec. Note the extra "C" in in front of the "quartus_prm.exe" I have no idea why that was needed, but I was getting an error until I just happened to put it in there (Blind Luck :-))
I used a 2 element array going into a four loop
    cmd /cquartus_pgm.exe -c USB-BLASTER -m JTAG -o P;pfl_epXXXX.sof
    cmd /cquartus_pgm.exe -c USB-BLASTER -m JTAG S_FPGA.cdf
    Defining the working director C:\altera\12.1sp1\qprogrammer\bin
And added match string with "Successfully performed operation" on the output in the loop to make sure everything loaded correctly then adding the array to give me a overall P/F
To anyone doing this same thing Altera's documentation is poor to say the least. It took most of a week to figure this out Not allowed to upload code, so anyone wanting details just post here and I will try to help. This was painful, with lots of lessons learned.
    Thanks for the interest though
    Best regards John

  • Use LabView to control light wires

use LabView with a power point presentation to control light wires to turn on and off at specific times.
Using windows XP and microsoft power point. As well as LabView 6i or better.

That's fine. You have unlimited message space (at least it has been enough for all my needs so far) if you use the web interface to this forum from NI's website. Go to: http://www.ni.com/devzone/dev_exchange/
Coming to your question, there are two parts to your application:
    1. hardware control -- obviously you will need some hardware that can output and regulate (software controlled) current. National Instruments has a wide selection of such hardware from plug-in cards to standalone modules. All this hardware integrates nicely with LabVIEW. Selecting the right one for your application can be tricky.
The best would be to either use the DAQ Designer or call and talk to a NI Sales person. The DAQ Designer can be accessed onlin
    e here:
    http://www.ni.com/devzone/dev_exchange/
    2. I still do not understand how exactly you want to control this from PowerPoint. In any case, LabVIEW has an ActiveX Control container which can be used to display (and control) PowerPoint slides on a LabVIEW panel.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to use labview to control a robotic arm by EMG signal

    Hello,
I am working on simulation of an active Exoskeleton (wearable robot) for the upper limb using LabVIEW for my senior project. I need to use the EMG signal as an input to move the elbow joint (flexing and extending). I downloaded labview biomedical toolkit to take a ready simulated EMG signal but have a weak experience in LabVIEW.
The design criterial I am planning to use is to establish a threshold for the EMG signal using a comparator (above 0 for example) and set a counter for everytime the signal passes the threshold as(+1) in every count. Then, specify a degree value for the counter (for example when the counter reaches 10000) and feed this value of the counter to a simple simulated structure for the joint (simple angle of 2 lines) or a meter to represent the movement.. e.g. every 10000 count = 1 degree of movement. Zero crossing can also be used instead of the comparator and the signal will be filtered and that is easy to do. However, my problem is in converting this logic into LabVIEW. I don’t know how to set a counter for the signal and make every number of counts refer to a specific degree of movement and I also don’t know how to form the simulated joint structure in LabVIEW or even how to transfer this into a simple meter device in LabVIEW.
I have only one month to do this project so any help or ideas you provide are highly appreciated
    Thank you ,

    CarlFHellwig
Thank you for providing this example I just implement  it in the software to check the counter results.
In fact, the design criteria I desided to use latly is to use is to establish a threshold for the EMG signal using a comparator and correlate the EMG signal with the angles of movement of a simple simulated structure "motor" for a single joint (simple angle of 2 lines) eg. 30,60,90,120,150 degrees for flexing and extending. Zero crossing can also be used instead of the comparator and the signal will be filtered and that is easy to do.
In other words, the idea is to drive a motor for different angles based on the input EMG signals. I am now stuck with developing the algorithm of how the angles are related to the RMS value of the signal while flexing and extending and how to convert this RMS into angular velocity and angular position to form the simulation.
I will be grateful if someone guided me to a person did a similar project to discuss some issues.
