Having problem to send email with POP account ...

Hi,
I didn't have that problem before upgrading to my new 3GS iPHone. I have 3 email accounts on my iPhone: POP (videotron.ca), GMail and MobileMe. They all work fine except my POP account.
From the POP account I can receive my email but I cannot send any. Funny enough, my emails are sent when the account is desactivated from my «Mail, contacts and Calendar» preferences on my iPhone.
Can somebody help me ? Regards.

I upgraded with the Iphone 3Gs a week ago and got the same problem with Videotron. The problem is with videotron as usual. If you want to be able to send email from your Iphone just go to Gmail, open an account FREE with them and then use this account to send Email...Work perfectly OK with me. Then of course you will have to phone videotron to make sure your account is fully available when you go on there Web site open the read email and be able to read your email if not solve the problem with them by phone. unless you will be able to send email easily with gmail and mather of fact it is free.

    The SMTP server you are using with Wi-Fi would be the outgoing server of your internet service provider... this is likely why that's working.
    SMTP servers specific to a ISP would not work on the 3G network. You would probably need another SMTP server. One from your cell provider?

    The email server you are using to send mail through requires the password, if any is required it needs to be set in the location that I pointed out in the earlier post.
    It is usually the same password you use for receiving emails.
    I don't use either Facebook or Twitter so I am not sure how to help with those.

    Change the ISP would not effect the email connection generally. (Only when ISP disable your mailbox which they could control directly.)
    I suppose that your Outlook still store/cache the AT&T messages, try to export them as PST data file for backup.
    Setup the new Yahoo in your current Outlook first and then import that backup.pst to continue to use.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    It's probably quite simple, and nothing to do with your Address Book group.
    It is a matter of 'junk mail' or 'spam' filtering on the recipient end, I think.
    1. Apparently not everyone in your Address Book group (12 of 15 apparently?) has your current email address among their 'permitted email addresses', so, your original email message ends up in their 'junk mail' or 'spam filter' or whatever it is called by their email provider. Some businesses and schools also filter incoming messages for subject, language, content, or by sender's address (one company I dealt with prohibited all incoming email from Hotmail, for example), so it could be filtered at that level. In that case, the recipient might have to specifically ask the IT department to add your email address to a 'permitted' list.
    2. When someone else in the group hits 'reply all', THEIR email address IS among the 'permitted email addresses' for everyone else, and they are in effect 'forwarding' your message from their email address, so the filtering affecting your email address does not affect their re-sending of your message.

  • "Sender Name is Invalid" (can't send email from POP account) iPhone 2.1

    I updated from V2.0.2 to V2.1 today. I also swapped out my original iPhone EDGE for a new iPhone EDGE due to unrelated problems with the speaker.
    Upon testing things after restoring from backup to the new phone I discovered that I could no longer SEND email from my POP account. I could receive email just fine on that account. Sending and receiving email on my MobilMe account also worked, as did sending and receiving email via the POP account while on the Mac computer I use to sync with this iPhone.
    After digging into this with AppleCare we discovered that somehow the Port Address for the Outgoing Mail Server for that POP account had been changed from 25 to 587 on the iPhone.
    Changing it back to 25 fixed my problem.
    We don't know whether the problem was due to the 2.1 upgrade or due to something in the restore process after swapping the phones.
    If you get the error message "Sender Name is Invalid" while trying to send email from a POP account on your iPhone, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and select the line for your POP account.
    Now scroll down to the Outgoing Mail Server entry which should show "SMTP" and the name of the outgoing mail server for that POP account. Select that line. This will display a list of servers with your POP account server showing at the top as the Primary Server. Select that line.
    In the panel that displays, check the Server Port. If it is something odd like 587, that may be your problem. Select the line and you can edit it to something more normal like 25. Touch the "SMTP" button at the top left of the number entry screen to accept that new value.
    We discovered that after correcting that value on the iPhone it STAYS corrected even after doing a new Sync with iTunes, or after MobileMe syncs.

    Sorry you had problems Bob.
    Depending on the mail service you are using, Port 25 or Port 587 are usually acceptable for outgoing
    SMTP mail. Many cafes will block the customary port 25 to prevent spammers from using their
    wireless access.

    Also be sure for each mail account to turn ON the secondary AT&T server shown at the bottom
    of the SMTP server list for each account -- it will make your transition from wireless to Edge
    to 3G networks much more reliable.

    I am using Mail 7,0 with Mavericks.
    I am having problems resending emails. When I resend an email with one or more attached files, then I am having a lot of problems because the receiver gets everything scrambled!!, the body text is received as an attachment and all the images or logos included in my signautre are also received as an attachment.
    I would thank very much if someone has had the same problem and can help me to solve the problem.

    Which antivirus software do you run on your computer? Are there any errors posting?  Have you shut off any email firewalls temporarily to attempt to isolate your issue?  Do you have outlook 2003 on more than 1 pc in your home?  Have your tried to attach a small text file and send it to see if that goes thru successfully?

  • Outlook 2011: Can't send emails with one account?

    I can't send any emails with one of my accounts on outlook 2011 even though I can receive emails. To clarify, I've never been able to send any emails from this account with Outlook 2011; I always have to go on the internet to do that. My main account works

  • Any new suggestions on how to send emails with godaddy account on iphone?

    Godaddy email is my only email account that I cannot send emails from on my iphone. Have called everyone and read everything many times about what seems to be a common issue but verizon, godaddy and apple all have same answers, no answers or act surprised.
    Tried every combination and suggestion like everyone else to no avail.
    Godaddy immediately refers you to their app which works ok but it's another step and separate. Seems like they're blocking outbound to get people to use their app which is cluttered with their other usual money spending choices.
    Otherwise I can't believe they're not aware of this and have no fix.
    If anyone has suggestion that hasn't been mentioned 100 times online please let me know.

    You don't have to pass the file name in the exec() in the script. Only the directory path for vbs execution in the VB Script. What you can do is check for the presence of the filename in the required directory using file_exists() function.
    Create three Global Variable ($GV_FILENAME, $GV_PATH, $GV_FILE) and pass the file name and path to these variables.
    $GV_PATH = 'C:\Temp';
    $GV_FILENAME = '37957.pdf';
    $GV_FILE ='"||$GV_PATH||'\\'||$GV_FILENAME||"';
    Then write a ifelse condition in the script like below -
    if(file_exists($GV_FILE) !=0)
    Begin
    exec('cscript','c:\\mymailscript\\MailDispatch.vbs,0);
    print('file found executing vbscript');
    else

    end

    Yeah that's an issue with UTL_MAIL it only has 3 procedures, and none of them let you send data to the SMTP server incrementally. To send files larger than 32k you will need to switch over to using UTL_SMTP directly or via a helper package such as the [DEMO_MAIL package|http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/pl_sql/htdocs/Utl_Smtp_Sample.html] available from otn.

    When I sent email with FM 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1' with TXT attachment, I found the there were no new line after each row of the content of TXT file attachment . All the rows in the internal table are concatenated into a string without any new line mark. It damaged the format of my attachment.

    You need to concatenate your text with  l_c_cr_lf  (For enter button or new line) after every 255 char to get new line. Below is the code.  Let me know in case of ny clarifications.

    There are about 21 forms that have been configured in our E rec systems to send out correspondence to the candidates. When the forms are sent out withougt changes the mail is sent out correctly with a pdf attachment in it. Out of the 21 forms 16 of the forms are changed by the recruiters before the mail is sent out. When we try to change the forms using the 'Change form' option on the portal, the form is available in the html editor. Hence the logo on the form becomes a hyperlink. When the correspondence is sent for changed forms the email has the changed form in the body of the message and we no longer have a pdf attachment in it.
    The problem here is that the logo turns into a hyperlink hence candidates external to our systems cannot view the logo.
    Please advise how can we send changed form as a pdf attachment.
    Full marks will be awarded for any clue.

    That is correct, seems you have configured eRecruit to use "HTML editor" and with that changed correspondence cannot go as attachments due to the limitation. There are several OSS notes stating the same.
    There is alternate solution "Letter Section", using this changed correspondence is sent as attachments. However, there is limitation with this option as well, that is limited formatting options.
    You may have to choose "HTML editor" if you need better formatting options or "Letter Section" if you want to send the correspondence as attachments.

  • Mail won t send emails with gmail account.

    Mail app was working perfectly and suddenly it stopped working
    All i have configured is my gmail account with IMAP, it receives the mails perfectly but i cant get any mail to leave my outbox. I simply get the timeout error with the try again or edit settings message.
    I rechecked and recreated the outgoing mail server with the settings from google, and it still happens.
    I tried rebuilding the outbox as i read on these forums that it might help, but it didnt.
    What else can I do?

    You could try moving the preference file to the trash.
    The file is called com.apple.mail.plist
    and can be found in the following folder: username -> library -> preferences
