Having purchased a Canon PIXMA MG5300 wi-fi printer for my new iMac that has has no CD slot, how do I install the drivers?

As the title says, how do I get the two devices to cammunicate with each other?

Note the new iMac isn't PPC, it is Intel. I'm asking this thread be moved to the correct forum. Since the issue is likely to do with the operating system drivers, I'm having this moved to the 10.8 forum.

The page has you first select your version of the Mac OS (10.4) from the pull-down "Chose Operating System" menu. Once selected, you'll see the available software, Click on the arrown next to "Drivers" and it should look like this:

Click the word "Download " and you'll get the driver.
Note at the top of that image there are other links to other documents pertaining to this printer. If you click on "Brochures and Manuals," while you are on that web page, you'll have Canon's instructions, probably better done than by anyone here other than someone who has the same printer model on a Mac running OS 10.4.

Just installed the latest Canon printer software update (V 3.2) from the App store. Canon Pixma MX850 will not print. Dialog says job stopped at the server - no pages found. Utilities, print test page works. Printing via Airport.

Dialog says job stopped at the server - no pages found. Utilities, print test page works. Attempting to print via Airport from a MacBook Pro. Also from a Mac Pro via ethernet. Both worked before updating to Yosemite. Canon Pro 9000 Mk 2 works via USB. Tried installing driver 10.84 from OS 10.9 as suggested by PAHU; no luck.

The "stopped at server - no pages found" message would suggest an image with the print file that is created by the printer driver on the MacBook Pro. But if the Mac Pro is getting the same message then that is unusual.
To rule out a couple of causes I would try connecting the MacBook Pro directly to the MX850 by USB cable. This action should result in a new printer for the USB connection being created automatically. If not then you may need to manually create it as you won't be able to use the existing printer that exists for the network connection. With the new printer created see if this will let you print without error.
If this USB connected printer also fails with the same message then try a reset of the printing system. Note that this action will also remove the Pro 9000 from Printers & Scanners so you will have to add it and the MX850 again.

Canon Pixma 8120 won't print after new hard drive + TC install

I have a great Pixma 8120 which was previously successfully networked wirelessly to an intel imac SL 10.6.8 and
a Macbook Pro running Lion. Our internet connection is Fios via router and the imac had been connected via
ethernet to the Fios router.
Last week, the imac's hard drive needed to be replaced - Apple Geniuses
installed the new hard drive at the apple store and restored all of the data. I bought a new Time Capsule
and backed up the new hard drive as soon as I got it home (yes I got religion).
I now have the TC connected via ethernet
to the router and set up a new network -- connected both the imac and the macbook via airport no problem. Nice
fast internet (safari).
The problem is the Canon printer. I configured the printer to recognize the new network over the TC and was able to
connect it via wi-fi to the access point. When printing however, the printer icon pops up in the dock and looks like its starting
to process the job but then the job disappears fromt the print queue screen. poof. nothing.
I suspect I may have a problem with the TC's security settings not being compatible with the canon - the canon manual does say something about the canon not supporting "enterprise" and I did see that in the TC settings.
I have a huge work project due tomorrow so I decided to forego the wireless thing for now and just hook the printer up
via USB to the imac. I reinstalled the Canon software following the all directions for when to plug in the USB in the process.
It didn't work. Then I went to the Canon support page and downloaded/installed an updated driver. Now I have
a nice new looking printer icon but when I try to print it starts and then gives me a "communication error has occured"
message -- error 306.
Does anyone have advice for me?

Never mind. I realized that I needed to ethernet the imac to the TC.
I just got the Canon to print. Sorry to bother.

Hi, I have updated to latest OS and now my Canon Pixma MP610 fails to print and returns a " Stopped - 'Filter' failed" error message.
I am running OS X 10.9.3 (13D65) on a 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5 iMac with 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
I've done a complete system re-install and also performed a targetted install of just the Canon Drivers - but all to no avail.
The printer is OK with regard ink-levels and is/was working fine. It will print out 'photocopies' independantly of the iMac. Additionally, from within the Print Queue I can view the ink-levels so there are comms between the iMac and the Canon - it's just that 'Print' seems to be off topic.
Can anyone help as I have to get a document out tonight

Is that device desSystem Preferences - Print & Scan - Right click the printer and select Reset Printing System. DO NOT use any Canon software.
You did not advise how it is connected (USB- Wi-Fi- etc..) so it's a little difficult to assist with so little information.

You can't merge Apple IDs. You also can't cancel (delete) and existing ID, you can only choose to stop using it.
If your old ID was compromised and you can no longer access it, you'll have to contact Apple for assistance. Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; click 'See all products and services' at the bottom of the page. In the next page click 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID'. You can set up an iCloud account on each one (the SAME iCloud account using the same AppleID on each) and then sync via iCloud.

However, an iCloud backup nor sync contains purchased content - that is available for redownload from the iTunes and App stores (so no need to waste iCloud space storing it for you).
So, for purchased content, you will have to download it on each device - just use the same AppleID and download each item on each device.
Without a computer to aid the sync'ing, downloading the purchased content on each device is the only way.
P.S audiobooks cannot be re-downloaded once purchased (all other content can be), so without a computer to save, store and move the audiobook files around, you will only be able to put those on one device - the one you first purchase it on.

for windows you should have an exe and a 7z file. put both in the same directory and double click the exe.

I recently purchased a year long lightroom license and when I try to install it I get a message that says Trial ended. How to I install the program or add a license number? Where would I find my license number?

I had a month long trial of Lightroom and I decided to purchase a prepaid 12month Lightroom/Creative Cloud license. When I uninstall Lightroom and then reinstall it, I get a message that says trial ended with the option to 'buy'. How do I install the purchased year long license to my desktop or add a license number? Also wondering where I might find this number?

If you have purchased Acrobat Pro XI then please go through the given link: http://www.adobe.com/downloads.html?promoid=KAWQL, choose Acrobat from the list of Apps and select try to start downloading. At the time of installation enter the product key to activate it.
If in case you purchased Acrobat Standard XI retail license then click on the link: https://www.adobe.com/account/account-orders.html#myrecentorders, sign in with your Adobe id and start downloading.
For Volume licensing purchase log on to www.licensing.adobe.com and donload the software.

The easiest way is to connect the G5 and your new iMac together via Firewire. Then you can use what is called "Target Disk Mode" which basically makes the G5 look like an external hard drive to your iMac. The potential gotcha is if your new iMac does not have a Firewire port. In that case, you need to get the Apple Thunderbolt-Firewire adapter in order to connect the two machines (as far as I know, all G5's had one or more Firewire ports). I have done this many times, it's easy and works perfectly.
Alternatively, you could connect both Macs to the same network and log into the G5 from your iMac. This involves going into System Preferences > Sharing on the G5 and turning on File Sharing and then logging in from your iMac to the G5 as if it were a server. (Logging in through the Finder or via Go > Connect to Server). This also works fine but it's a little more involved than using Target Disk Mode. I do this all the time and it too works fine.
Either way, once the two Macs are connected, you will use the Finder on your iMac to copy files/folders from your G5 the same as you would from any external hard drive. Regarding iTunes, you could just copy your entire iTunes library over to your iMac being careful to put it in the same relative folder location: /users/yourusername/Music/iTunes This method will preserve your playlists and album art. Alternatively you could go into iTunes and do Add to Library but I'm not completely sure doing it that way will bring over your album art and it certainly won't bring over your playlists.
I see no reason to use a separate external hard drive. It will just double the time it takes to transfer your files because you would first have to copy everything to the hard drive, then in a second step copy everything from the hard drive to your iMac.
Note: In all cases there is the possibility that you may need to change file & folder permissions on the things you copy over so you can access (read & write) to these folders & files once copied to your new iMac. This is not a difficult process.
