Having wifi issues, can't connecti

Ok here's the issue that I've been having for some time now.  We have multiple devices connected into our router: iPhones, macs, Xbox, directv, blu ray etc,  All the others devices can connect to our netgear no problem but my phone.  I have to turn off the router and back on again to connect.  I have tried to reset my network sethings and that hasnt worked as well as I have also tried to forget and rejoin the network.  At this point I'll try just about anything to get this to work.  Any feedback and ideas would be greatly appreciated

Who was this technical support store? If you want to buy a new phone you'll have to pay full price for it or a subsidized price with a service contract.

might be lack of sleep but you've lost me there lol
not the first device? the modem, but the HH3 via wifi, I thought it was the HH3 broadcasting the wifi signal and what you connect to?
upped the youtube playing videos to 35, also on wifi, not a single problem, 1 hr, hope I don't get a call tomorrow lol about high usage, all in the name of science!
with the ipad and iphone, normal usage, not seen a single drop in wifi connection, seems to be when the device is being heavily used, with playtube, it converts and downloads the youtube video to play offline on the device
playing seems to be fine, just when downloading when it has a problem

  • Anyone having wifi issues on the 3gs after updating to 6.1.3?

Recently got rid of an iphone 4 that was having wifi issues after updating to 6.1.3 but wanted to know if any 3gs users are having issues with wif after installing the same update? Currently on 4.3.3

You can try resetting your iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • Note 3 having Wifi issues

    Hi all,
I have been having awful Wifi issues with my Note 3, and I've been reading similar reports elsewhere on the web. My bed is less than ten feet from my Wifi router, and yet I regularly get the "connection is unstable" notification and it drops.
I am just a few days outside of the 14 day return period. Is there any way I can swap to a phone with more reliable connectivity?
    Thanks!

We appreciate the additional details relating to your device Pfhortune! The next best step would be to complete a hard reset on the device to restore the settings back to the manufacturer recommended functionality. Please keep us posted once this is completed, thanks!

  • Samsung WiFi printer can't connect to new Quantum Gateway router?!

We recently replaced our 3-year-old router with the latest Quantum Gateway router and upgraded fios speed from 25/25 to 50/50.
Every device (PC, phones, tablets, and TV) was able to connect to the new network.  BUT, our Samsung Wifi printer (M283x seriers) cannot connect at all.  With the older router, we were able to access the printer thru Wifi network from two different PCs..
We did not relocate the router and we did not move the printer, so singal strength was not the issue.  We even uninstalled and then re-install printer driver to PC to set up the network again.  Tried every connecting option that Samsung had suggested, but everything failed.
We also tried to log in to Router Admin site to add this printer, didn't work.  WPS was turned on and we couldn't figure out why this new network doesn't add the printer. This router did not like our printer.
One funny thing was that if we turned OFF all the security settings, the router allowed this device to connect to WiFi.
Can anyone help?  Thanks a lot!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have a solution for you.  After upgrading to the Quantum Gateway last week, My Samsung 2835 printer had the same problem. It turns out that the printer doesn't play well with the Quantum Gateway when the Samsung "Wi-Fi Direct" function is enabled.  All you have to do is log in to the printer web page. Then, under Settings--> Network Settings--> Wi-Fi Direct... Turn Wi-Fi Direct off using the drop down menu.  Hit "Apply", then power cycle the printer. After this you can use WPS or manually configure the printer and it will connect right away.  Thank the Verizon technical guy J.W.  for figuring this one out by capturing the Wi-Fi traffic between the Gateway and printer.

  • I can use my time capsule for wifi, but can't connect for backup

I have been using my TC for a couple of years now, always as a router and backup disk.  I went on a long trip then came back and tried to connect to it, I can use the wifi, but I can't connect to the disk to see it or use it for backups.  I also have a PC connected to the TC and I can see the contents on there through explorer.
    Any ideas would be appreciated...

how do I get the Mac addresses for each device (this won't be a problem, I demand the device, check it, and then return it).
What wireless devices are we looking at here?
Most devices have the AirPort ID or MAC Address or Hardware Address printed on the back or bottom of the device
Otherwise, you can learn the correct number by process of elimination. Turn off all wireless devices except your Mac computer....if it is connecting using wireless.
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon
Look for Wireless Clients and click on the numerical IP address that is displayed
    Another box will open
Look for the Hardware Address. It will be displayed as xx : xx : xx : xx :xx : xx
Write that down and note that it is your Mac.
Now, connect another wireless device and repeat the sequence.  Click on the "other" listing that you see to find out more info about that device.  Write down the ID or Address and note what device it is. Then power it off.
Do the same for each wireless device that you want to have limited access.
Post back when you have all the info.

  • I have a 5th generation iPod touch that is suddenly "unable to connect to the server", not entirely sure what this means but I'm unable to connect to the internet even though I'm connected to Wifi. Can't connect to iTunes on my pc either. Any input?

I have a 16GB iPod touch that suddenly stopped connecting to the internet last night. Everytime I try to get mail, or access anything with Safari I get a message saying that it can't connect to the server. Also I've plugged it in to my home computer but it won't connect to iTunes either. I haven't updated to iOS8 yet as I didn't have enough space for it and I had planned on deleting all my music files, updating the software and putting whatever music I could fit back on to the device afterward, but now I'm hesitant to do that as I have no way to get any of the files back onto the device. Could this be because I haven't updated to iOS8 yet? I've been having other problems such as apps crashing unexpectedly lately as well, for example my music shuts off randomly and apps such as Twitter and Tumblr and a few others crash on launch. I'm definitely not a genius when it comes to technology by any means, so I have no idea what's causing this problem or how to fix it, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My ipod touch connects to wifi but can't connect to the server.

Ok, so my ipod youch says it's connected to the wifi but when i try to get on the internet it says it can't connect to the server. I've looked and there's alot of answers but they're all soooooooooooooo complicated. I'm like 14, so whoever can answer this, please use small words.
I've noticed in alot of the answers they talk about your IP adress, if it's any consilation mine starts with 169. No matter where I go, if it's at home, or at starbucks or a hotel.
    Thanks for your time

Have you tried restoring your iPod touch in iTunes?
You may just be trying to connect to "Printer Networks" that allow a company/residence to print something from their printer wirelessly, it would appear on your iPod touch just about the same as any other network, but you wouldn't be able to use internet while connected to that network...
If you are talking about "free wifi" in a Cafe, like Starbucks, you will usually need to open Safari. A Page will load and tell you how to connect to their internet, whether it's by paying, or just agreeing to their terms...
Like, I said, if that isn't the problem, try restoring your iPod touch in iTunes...

  • Don't buy U330! Wifi 'Local Only' Issue can't connect to internet anywhere!

If you are familiar with the local only problem, like I have become in recent weeks, you know the frustration of not being able to connect to the internet with your brand new computer when your ten year old laptop can surf the web with no problem.
Normally the 'local only' problem is restricted to Vista for its newer network configuration under ivp6, but after five weeks of attempt to solve the problem, I have concluded that the lenovo U330 and its components are to blame.
I hope someone here can help me stop advocating ban on purchasing U330 by helping me solve this problem.
Here is a list of things I have done so far....
    Clean install vista
turn off ivp6 in all network components
go to regedit and set ....world = 0
Fix all DHCH word32 key to 0
    uninstal ibm wifi connecting software
update the wifi driver from intel/lenovo
Still unsolved, I  installed windows XP and repeat step 2 - 6
Still unsolved, I installed Windows Vista 64 repeat step 4,5,6
There are few more procedures I went through to fix this problem. I have spent literally weeks trying to solve this problem.
Lenovo sold me a laptop that does not connect to following locations: Local library, school network, local church.
I understand this may be a Intel driver issue more than the lenovo laptop issue, but I don't care. I just want my internet to work.
I will appreciate it if someone can come up with a solution to my problem.  And please don't tell me to contact the computer administrator of my school/library/church/local library to upgrade their hub because my Lenovo is far too advanced for their network.

I am an engineering student and I have enough knowledge in computer hardware and software to know where left is from right.
My school network engineer spent over an hour to find a solution to this issue to no avail.
Therefore, if any potential customer whos knowledge in computers is below the network engineer's level should do themselves a favor and avoid purchasing U330 laptop.
I know it sound absurd, but this is the truth, and I really hope I can apologize to anyone I may offend when my problem gets solved.

  • Anyone else having an issue with TCP connections using iCloud for Windows?

    Hi,
Before I asked this question, I did wait to see if any related questions came up, but none did, so I submit it now.
On my admittedly older laptop running Windows 7 64b Home, I've run into difficulties with the iCloud for Windows app to the extent that I had to uninstall it.
It would that, as my laptop was running, in the background, iCloudServices.exe would endlessly iterate TCP connections, which, while not actively sending or receiving any data, after some hours would number over 100 instances, taking up resources, and grinding my laptop's WiFi connection to a grindingly slow pace. I ended up, within the app, turning off everything, iCloud Drive and Photos, (I never used bookmarks), but still this would continue to occur.
I contacted Apple Support, explaining what was going on, and they stated they only dealt with IOS and gave me a Microsoft Support number. When I called Microsoft support, I came more and more to the realization that the issue was specifically with the iCloud for Windows app, as that was the only software that was endlessly creating and not closing TCP connections as it was. How was Microsoft supposed to solve an issue with Apple code?
So I called Apple back, whereupon they insisted it was a Microsoft issue. I explained other cloud services installed on the same computer were not having the same issue, it was unique to ICloudServices.exe. They stated they only dealt with IOS. I stated I purchased an iPad Air less than 7 months ago, and was trying to run iCloud in support of that.  They again stated they only dealt with IOS, and suggested I again try Microsoft. I asked them if it was reasonable to expect Microsoft to solve issues with Apple code? They said regardless, there was zero support offered for anything having to do with Windows, and all I could do was uninstall the app, which I did, though that did not feel very satisfactory to me. My thinking is, if Apple writes a Windows app in support of their hardware, they should offer support for it.
Anyway, I was just wondering, is this an issue unique to me? or have others experienced a similar issue? I found this issue by opening the Windows Resource Monitor, looking under the Networking tab, and scrolling through the TCP Connections section to find 100+ concurrent iCloudServices.exe instances listed, whereas even Chrome, with multiple tabs and extensions, topped out at around 20.
My one month old Desktop, DYI, sports a solid Asus 1150 MoBo, i7-4790k cpu, 16GB Ram, and an EVGA GTX 970 video card. I list some specs only to illustrate this computer has no hardware issues in comparison to my long in tooth laptop. On this desktop, running Win 8.1 Pro 64b,  at least as many, identifiably Apple, background service TCP connections are created even compared to Chrome, regardless of many tabs being open, many extensions, and even some related apps. Adobe does not even come close, though I run the full CC subscription. On this new computer, running Windows 8.1 Pro 64b, there are currently over 50 TCP connections and loopbacks that do not identify themselves, with just a - for the Image, and PID. With the experience on my laptop, I wonder how many of these are generated by Apple software, if not specifically iCloud software?
The frustrating aspect of these connections is they seem in no way active, While the Chrome and Adobe connections can be seen to be transferring data, as long as I am not running iTunes, or so have my iPad actually plugged in, it seems 99% of the time these iCloudServices.exe connections are just taking up ports, neither sending nor receiving any data discernable to me under the Processes with Network Activity, or Network Activity lists, both displayed in the same window as the TCP Connections in the Windows Resource Monitor.
Though I am fairly ignorant as regards coding, it seems as if there is no call to close a connection, very specifically, iCloudServices.exe, when it is no longer needed, and the next time a connection is needed, a new one is opened, rather than accessing the one previously opened. The only other reason I could imagine this might be occurring is if my Norton Internet Security software might mask and/or block the port after a certain time of inactivity.
Anyone out there have any ideas or advice about this? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks jared,
I'm still dealing with this issue through Apple. Some time after I posted this, I contacted Apple again. They did start a case up for me, as I was experiencing the same behavior on two different machines, with two different versions of Windows.
So far it remains unsolved. I've logged iClouds for Windows on my desktop, which is brand new, then logged for awhile after completely uninstalling Norton Security Suite, depending on the Microsoft security for some time, and finally logged after I uninstalled iCloud for Windows, restarted, installed a clean download, and connected using a completely different test account, which Apple set up for me. None of this made any difference. Looking at the logs, it seems every 10 minutes, iCloudServices.exe creates a new TCP connection to confirm I'm using less than 5GB on iCloud, (which I am by a good margin, using less than 2GB), it seems this connection is not closed, and when the next iteration rolls around 10 minutes later, a new TCP connection is created. I come very close to having 6 TCP connections created per hour, until I restart my computer. This works out to... 6 x 24 = 144/day.
Perhaps the article you posted will shed some further light on this. I'm thinking seeing the state of the connection through netstats, at the least, could help.
For the last week, I've been putting a hold on further logging, as Apple wants me to create a new user account on one of my computers, install iCloud for Windows there, and log it running in the other account. This however basically means I cannot use my computer for a fair number of hours, and I've been busy enough with work the past week that I haven't the time or energy to afford to set this up and run it. I've had need of my computers too much for the past week.

  • Ipod Touch-WIFI Problems-Can't Connect More than One at Same time

I'm not an Ipod Touch user yet, but three family members are. Unfortunately, only one will connect to the Internet on our home wifi at a time. Each one works just fine on its own and will make the connection, but if one is already turned on it blocks the others. I have a laptop and it connects fine regardless of the Ipod Touch issues. I'm using a Linksys router if that matters. Looked everywhere but can't find someone experiencing similar issues. Thanks for any ideas/thoughts/help!

Take a look at your router's settings for DHCP. Normally there is range associated for the allocation of IP addresses for wireless devices. For example, you would set DHCP to on, IP address range from 192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.128. The normal defaults on the router should have given you an adequate range of address but you may have inadvertently changed something.
