Hdmi audio clicks

Hi,
Im using my sony flatscreen as a display for watching movies. Im running the signal with a hdmi after the mini display to hdmi adapter to my denon avr-1912 receiver. When watching movies the audio clicks for a millisecond every 30 seconds. Very annoying! Ive just downgraded from lion, since i fond it buggy and annoying, to snowleopard. Before i downgraded i had the problem, but it was due to me not using the arc out from the tv. After i switched i didnt have the problem. I think the click is a result of the receiver acting as a repeater and the signal gets cut somewhere along the line. If someone can help me, i will be VERY grateful!

Eliminate the receiver to determine if it is the culprit.  Connect the hdmi directly to the tv bypassing the receiver.  No clicks?  Then it is the receiver.
Another idea, lower the volume of the playback and increase the volume on the receiver.  Maybe the audio is being clipped because the input signal is too high.

  • Satellite P75-A7100 No HDMI Audio Help Please!

Had to make device dual boot due to work circumstances with 7 32bit on one side and 8.1 64 bit on the other side.  Read the posts and lots of tinkering with but still no audio out on the HDMI on either sides.  Primarily looking to accomplish on the 8.1 side.  Went through thre reccomended driver install directly from the TOSHIBA page in the order reccomended:
    1. Chipset
    2. HD4600
    3. Conexant Audio Driver
No luck with the video being fine and no audio.  Not recognizing the audio connection in the drivers portion even under disconnected and disabled devices.
Also downloaded latest HD4600 driver from intel and tried to manually install AUDIO portion but getting the windows Error 10 and not allowing.  From what I read that is the fix but no luck there.
    Any suggestions or direction please?

I don't really know anything about this. I stopped by because you didn't mention looking for the HDMI audio here.
Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab
If you don't see it there, right-click in that panel and make sure all devices are showing. I once needed to change the default device there in order to enable the HDMI sound.
    Just a a thought. If that's not your trouble, I can't help.

  • *** dv4-1413tx No HDMI Audio to TV

    Please help.
When I plug in the HDMI cable, I only get the Video on LCD TV screen. But there is no audio sound from LCD TV speakers. The audio only output thru dv4-1413tx speakers.
I have tried changing the Default Sound to NVida HDMI audio - but still no audio. When click Test Sound, the audio bar is bumping up and down, but no audible sound from LCD TV speakers
In fact, I notice that once I plug it the HDMI cable, after a short while, the LCD TV will beam up the desktop screen, and when I click on the Sound icon at System tray, it also indicates that it has switched to NVida HDMI audio output. But there is no audio sound on LCD TV speakers. I need to change the Default Sound to notebook speakers, then I get audio sound, and it is output from the notebook, but the video on LCD TV.
I have also tried all HDMI ports of the LCD TV - only Video, NO Audio
Why? I understand that HDMI is capable of transmitting video and audio right???
Please advise how I am supposed to get HDMI audio to LCD TV speakers.......tks.

may be the connector, Give this a try, take your playbook with the hdmi adapter to the place where it was purchased ad try it on the same model. you can see if t is the adapter or tv

  • [SOLVED] ATI HDMI audio fails when playing videos... fine otherwise.

On a fresh install of Arch Linux, despite being an amateur at best. I'm using ATI HDMI audio using the open source driver, on GNOME 3. I'm switching to Catalyst after posting this to see if that might help, somehow.
After adding the radeon.audio=1 to the bootloader, audio on the system began working just fine as long as I restricted myself to audacious (haven't tried another audio player) or the system sound tests. When I try to use VLC, or mplayer2 for that matter, not only does it not play the audio associated with the video but NO audio will pass through the system at all. I have tried changing the audio source in VLC, although default should work... nothing works. Changing the audio in VLC will cause the system's audio to max out. Changing it back to something else doesn't help, but I can change the volume after closing the video programs, and after a few clicks it will go back to the "bloop" sound that confirms volume changes. Everything works fine again.
I have been at this all day and I am at wit's end. My google searches are getting way too long to be of any help. Any pointers or obvious things that I've missed in my caffeine haze would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • HDMI Audio issue with Samsung Plasma

    Hi all,
I have a mid 2010 Mac Mini that I bought for my HTPC. I am unable to get the HDMI audio to work after trying a number of connection possibilities. Here's the setup -
Mac Mini to Samsung via HDMI cable (1.3a) in either HDMI port - no audio
Mac Mini to Samsung via HDMI cable currently working for my uverse service - no audio
Mac Mini to Insignia LCD via HDMI cable in either HDMI port- no audio
I thought it was hardware, so I made a genius appointment and took it in. They gave me a new mini. Same exact issue.
When I switch to SAMSUNG in the sound properties, it tells me "The selected device has no output controls"
    Video works fine.
What am I doing wrong? Did I just get two bad boards? This is really freaking annoying.

I have the same issue... perfect image on a Samsung TV UE32EH5300, but no sound. I tried changing the input name to HDMI/PC (and tried all others) with no success.
Altough I noticed one rare thing. I opened Mountain Lion AudioMidi Configuration and selected the HDMI output. Can't move the volume controls because these are supposed to be controlled on the TV. But when clicking at the Speaker configuration and making a test for L/R speakers... each TV  speaker (connected by HDMI) reproduced statics.
THEN I'M CONFUSED!!!!... how can I hear sound produced by the computer but can't have the normal audio on HDMI???
    Any help???

  • Is Auto Switch to HDMI Audio Possible?

I have a dv5-1235dx laptop and use vista, and finally figured out how to get the hdmi sound to work after searching this board and other sites (by manually choosing hdmi as default playback device), but it appears this requires a manual switch every time the hdmi cable is plugged in.  Have updated all drivers etc. (intel high definition hdmi), but still requires manual switch when I want to watch something on my hdtv.  Is there any other driver or solution that would just switch over to hdmi audio automatically when plugged in?  Seems like this is a common issue, and one that ought to be fairly easy to resolve, but i'm  not really that tech savvy so maybe it's more complicated and just an HP/intel issue that can't be resolved?  Anybody have any workarounds for this?

First of all, its not a Intel/HP issue and your playback device will automatically be set to speakers once you disconnect your HDMI cable.and be automatically set to HDMI once you connect your HDMI cable to the laptop.
Its similar to how you connect your headphone to headphone jack on the laptop. Make sure setting - HDMI as default playback device has been done when you have disconnected your HDMI cable from the laptop and not when its connected to the laptop.
    In order to do,
Go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound and click on sound . On playback tab, right click on white (blank) area and you would see 2 options (Show disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices). Make sure both options are checked to have all playback devices listed.
Now right click on HDMI ouput device option and ensure "Set as default device" option is checked to hear audio from external display while playing picture on external display.

  • [HELP] G470 HDMI audio problem

Hello guys! I'm currently using Lenovo G470 since 4 years and i discover that my HDMI audio is not working (but display is fine) my ATI is broke since 2 years ago and i'm using the UMA graphics on BIOS. i tried all the steps available on this forum (re-install the OEM chipset and integrated video/audio driver) and it didn't help at all. while investigating on ibmxHDMI folder of OEM driver C:\Drivers\Intel Onboard Graphics Driver\ibxHDMI>ls -a
    . .. IntcDAuC.dll IntcDAud.cat IntcDAud.inf IntcDAud.sysAnd based from Installation_Readme.txt***************************************************************************
    For Intel(R) Display Audio Driver:
    1. Click "Start" then right click on "Computer" button and then click on
    properties.
    2. Click on "Advanced system setting" option and then click on "Continue"
in "user account control" window to goto "system properties" page
    3. Click on "Hardware" Tab, and select "Device Manager"
    button.
    4. Double click on "Intel(R) Display Audio".
    2. Select the "Driver" tab and then click on the "Driver Details" button.
    3. The function driver (intchdmi.sys) version should be listed on this
screen.I should expect intchdmi.sys on exist on ibxHDMI folder. also  OEM Driver: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/lenovo-g470-notebook/downloads/DS011506 [PS: Already checked the playback device and obviously i can't see HDMI output from there]

Some HDMI adapters won't work with the new MacBook Pros if they aren't compliant with the 1.1a version or later of the DisplayPort spec. There are some adapters out there that aren't fully compatible.
I believe you need to have i5 or i7 Macbook Pro for audio feature through mini displayport.
2011 models should have sound with proper adapter but I'm not sure about 2010 models.
    Good luck

  • HDMI Audio is not on Playback List

I have a Pavilion dv7 running Windows 7.  I've had the laptop for 3 years now with excellent service.  Recently, I purchased a flat screen TV and I would like to play programming from my laptop to the TV by HDMI connection.  I have a high quality cable that has worked in this case sporadically, since the HDMI audio playback option likes to periodically disappear from the Playback Device list.  The few times in the past when the HDMI audio option has gone missing, I have somehow managed to get it to return by replacing drivers or doing some other kind of recovery.  Right now, it's missing and I can't get it back.
I have tried a number of the standard fixes to no avail.
First, I checked to see if the IDT High Def Audio CODEC was "disabled."  No, it's "running properly" and is "enabled."
Second, I checked to see it the driver for the IDT was up to date.  Yes it is.
Third, I tried removing the device and its driver completely and reloading the IDT.  Good exercise, didn't work.
Next, I tried running a full set of updates to Windows etc., since I'm not good at keeping up to date.  Still doesn't work.
As I write this, I am connected by HDMI cable to my TV and the HDMI Audio option doesn't appear on the Playback List, so that's not the problem.
In case it helps, the Playback Devices list has two entries.  The first one is "Speakers and Headphones" and it is my "default" device.  The second one is "Independent Headphones".
It's been annoying in the past to have the HDMI Audio come and go like this but this time it's really stubborn and it's making me really crazy.  I'm sure I'm missing something but I just can't figure it out.
    Help!!!!!

    Hello labargephoto.
When you're in the playback window right click in the white space and ensure that "show disabled devices" and "show disconnected devices" are both enabled.  You should then be able to activate the HDMI audio.
Let me know if this helps.  I hope you have a great day!

  • No HDMI Audio Output

    Hello,
Today was my first time connecting my notebook to my HDTV by HDMI cable. It immediately reformats and the computer screen appears on the TV. I didn't have to do anything expcept connect the two devices by HDMI cable.
My OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit
    Model: HP Pavilion 15-N003TX Notebook
I wanted to play a video through Windows Media Player and noticed the sound was coming from my notebook instead of the TV? The picture was fine.
How do I make the sound come from the television?
And Also I go to Control Panel and go to the Sounds menu, all i have are the integrated speakers, Indpendent Dual Headphones, and SPDIF (Digital Out Via HP Dock).
None of the options work. HDMI audio device isn't there.
    Please help me.

    Dear Customer,
Welcome and Thank you for posting your query on HP Support Forum
It looks like you are facing difficulties getting the Audio Out from the Television using HDMI Connection
We will surely assist you with this issue
Firstly I would like you to read this information if you are unaware
There is no active or passive HDMI in the test specification. These terms apply to cables. Active cables have built-in electronics to enable long cable runs, and typically these cables require a power supply. These cables use active electronics to help push the signal farther than typical passive cables.
Please check if you are using a Passive HDMI Cable or Active HDMI Cable. I dont think you will not get Audio Out if you
are using Passive HDMI Cable. I guess you can easily resolve the issue by replacing the Passive to Active HDMI Cable
Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again

  • No HDMI audio output after recent HP update.

Hi, I recently was prompted for an HP sound driver update. After installation, the update seemed to break the audio output from my computer to my television. Before the update, the sounds from the computer would come from the television speakers, but now it defaults back to the laptop speakers. Since the update, there is no longer an option for HDMI audio playback in the sound options of the control panel. Can someone help?
Here is a screenshot of my control panel. As you can see, there is no option for HDMI audio output, even though my HDMI cable is currently plugged in.

  • HDMI Audio Problems with HPEnvy

    Hi,
When I connect the HDMI port to an Elgato Game Capture Card, there is video, but no audio. Examining the audio options, the HDMI audio driver is not even loaded.
I have the latest drivers, and in fact, when connecting to other devidces (such as a Samsung TV or audio enabled monitor) using the HDMI port, the audio works fine, and the HDMI HD audio driver is available in the audio menus.
I know that some people on other windows 8.1 platforms have been able to do this, but not me.  I would  love a solution.
Currently, I am using the audio from the earphone port, but the sound is less good than I would like, and of course there is an additional rats nest of cables this way.
Thanks so much for any help.
    Best,
    Scott
