HDMI gives audio/no video - 42HL167 1080p

I purchased a Toshiba 42HL167 1080p LCD in July of '07 new from Best Buy. Yesterday, after simply unplugging and plugging in the HDMI cable, I now get audio only - no video. My previous setup was a Motorola FIOS box and a PS3 that fed into a Sony HDMI receiver, which then fed to the LCD. I have tried several power cycles and multiple HDMI cables between the 3 devices and 3 HDMI inputs - still no video. I have tested the Component inputs and they work just fine. I have also tested the 3 input devices (receiver/cable box/PS3) on another LCD and they all work fine.
Any thoughts? It's well beyond warranty at this point.

Although iTunes does not list it in Apps for my Touch, the Touch has a Video icon which brings up a menu of videos and movies and allows me to select and play the video.  Is there another app that I should be using?

  • Macbook Pro to HDTV via HDMI no audio with video

So I plugged in my MBP to my tv via HDMI this weekend and for some reason I was getting no audio when trying to watch a video online. I tried multiple websites to see if that was the issue, but nothing seemed to work. I was using Chrome but didn't try any other browsers. The video played but I would get no audio through my tv. The kicker was that when I played a song from iTunes, the audio would work just fine through the tv. Has anyone ran into this problem?

    Morning kirstenpolley,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you know the hdmi cable is good.
You may want to try a different input channel or a different display adapter.

  • Can a MacBook (Early 2008) Support both sound and video to 1080p HDTV by Mini-DVI to HDMI cable?

Can a MacBook (Early 2008) Support both sound and video to 1080p HDTV by Mini-DVI to HDMI cable?

The mini dvi on the MacBook will only support video, in order to get audio you'll need to a cable from the sound out port to the sound in port on the TV.

  • Does the mini displayport able to transfer audio and video to an external monitor (example: a tv) using a 2011 13" MacBook Pro with an hdmi cable?

I was wondering this, because I want to hook up my 2011 MacBook Pro to a external monitor (TV) using an hdmi cable.  This would be heplful before I buy a mini displayport to hdmi adapter, and then maybe find out that the mini displayport might not transfer audio, only video.

Yes, min Displayport supports audio and video for the 2011 MBP 13" via HDMI.

  • Playing mp4 audio gives error message "Video can't be played because the file is corrupt"

Playing a particular mp4 audio file directly from a website link gives error message "Video can't be played because the file is corrupt". However other mp4 audio files from this same website do work correctly. What can I do to get all the the mp4 audio files to play directly from the same website? I must have the correct plugins, etc. since the other files play. This file is not playing from YouTube, is it on the website.
    Thank you for your help.

What is the link to the site and file in question?
MP4 files should be handled by Firefox itself, not a plug-in.
    # Click the ≡ Menu Button and choose Add-ons.
    # Click Plugins.
    # Set every plug-in to "Never Activate".
    # Try loading the file again. Is there any difference?

  • Hp hdx 16t laptop, hooked it philips 52 tv via hdmi cable and get video but no audio

Hp HDX 16t laptop Windows vista home prem, 64 bit, 4 gig ram, (512) 9600m gt nvidia geforce video card.
Hi I have a hp hdx 16t laptop, hooked it up to philips 52 inch LED tv via an  hdmi cable and get video on tv but no audio.  Only sound from laptop, My tv is set to computer hdmi 1 and all drivers up tp date.  I have goolged numerous solutions and none have worked.  If anybody has the time, a solution would be just great.. jd.

If you have the the video drivers installed for your notebook's chipset and the discrete video module then you should see something similar to the folowing image. This is on my loaner HP Pavilion dv7-4180ea. When I connect the notebook to my Philips HDTV the operating system switches to HDMI audio after I direct the video to the TV with the function keys on the notebook.

  • Does the HDMI cable carry both video and audio? U

Does the HDMI cable carry both video and audio?
If so what is the purpose of the separate optical audio connection?
Just a little confusion setting the Apple TV Up with my AV receiver.
    TIA.

You would use both HDMI and optical by connecting the former to a TV and the latter to a receiver that doesn't have an HDMI input so that you could play the audio through your stereo system.
You can use the HDMI alone, typically directly to the TV or through an A/V receiver, as HDMI does carry both video and sound.
For the year prior to the disastrous 4.4 updates a couple of weeks ago, you could use optical alone to add AirPlay music capabilities to your stereo system, so that you could stream music from iTunes and devices like the Touch and iPhone to your stereo. The 4.4 update broke that capability, requiring the use of HDMI for no reason. Lots and lots of people have been complaining about that bug, as it effectively bricks the Apple TV for anyone who bought it for this purpose but can't use the HDMI connection.

  • HDMI Connect to LG TV. No audio but video is outstanding.

I have a Satellite X205-S9810 that I hooked to my LG TV Model# 42LH30-UA using a HDMI cable.  I set the audio output to Realtek HDMI Output but get no audio, only video.  I tried using a RGB monitor cable and a audio cable from the headphone jack to the RGB/DVI audio input.  This kind of works, but when I close and lock the screen into the down position the display coming out on the TV shifts about one inch to the right and I can't adjust it back in.  Any suggestions on how to get both video and audio working at the same time would be greatly appreciated.
    Thankyou,
    Mark

Hello,  Have you figured anything g out regarding the HDMI.  I'm having a similar issue with my 305D.  It seems that many are having similar problems, and have yet to fin d a solution.  I'm very disappointed with Toshiba.  The main reasons I purchased this unit (HDMI and SPDIF) don't function properly.  Probably my last Toshiba, unfortunately!

  • No sound connecting Qosmio G30 via HDMI to audio/video receiver

When I connect my Qosmio G30-177 via HDMI cable to my audio/video receiver using Windows Vista Ultimate I get no sound but excellent video.
When I connect the DVD recorder to the receiver (also via HDMI-cable) the sound is o.k.
Do I have to use the s/pdif interface instead of HDMI to transmit the sound to the receiver or is it also possible via HDMI?

    Hi
Im not a audio expert but in my knowledge the HDMI transmit the audio and video signals.
The HDMI 1.0 and 1.1 support Dolby DigitalDTS audio format
The HDMI 1.2 supports Dolby DigitalDTS and DVD-Audio format
The HDMI 1.3 supports Dolby DigitalDTS, DVD-Audio and SACD audio formats.
All HDMI standards support a Typ A (19pol) jacks

  • Is my Mac an early or mid? Hdmi with audio?

I am going to purchase a 17" MacBook Pro model FC665LL/A
I want to know if I will be able to play both audio and video thru my hdmi output. It mentions it will work with models. If not what are my options?

FC665LL/A is not the order number of any MacBook Pro, as far as I can tell. Give us the Model Identifier instead — that will tell us what it is and what sort of output capabilities it has.

  • How do I use my web cam to record audio and video? I can get the video to work but no sound.

I want to record both audio and video at the same time. The video works fine but not the audio. I do use Skype without any problems using both.

    PwmBoat,
This made me smile, because things like this do make me smile...  I never make videos on YouCam, but I did this time, so I could test this one out.
You did not say what webcam software you are using...
    ======================================================================
Video and audio recording works on YouCam V3.5.1.4606
Make sure you have turned on a working microphone in Settings:
    YouCam > Right-Side   Settings >
Right-Side, Lower-Right, Select a working Microphone from the Drop down list
    AND
    CHECK "Capture with audio"
    OK
You can also buy (for $38 US) YouCam 5.0 from the Cyberlink.com website and it has audio/video and all sorts of other goodies, too.  (They have 3.x as well, but why buy what HP already gives you?)

  • Mini DVI to HDMI with audio. Where can I find it?

I'm looking for a cable adapter (mini DVI to HDMI with audio) to my mac book air (2010). Where can I find it?

DVI and miniDVI only transmit video-signals but no audio-signal.
Regardless of the cable adapter you get (I don't have any recommendation) you always have to make a audio-cable connection between the MBA and the TV.
