The problem is that if I do:

or
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1920x1080i
or
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1920x1080 --rate 50 (or 60)
The output on the HDTV is out of margins. I have tried to auto-adjust the aspet of the HDTV with remote controller.
Only if I down the refresh rate or resolution everything works fine:
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1920x1080 --rate 30
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1366x768
Is there a way to fit the border properly without decrease the refresh rate or resolution?
Thanks

apparently, it's an issue with the Odyssey recorder not correctly interpreting the sony exposure output scaling. Convergent Design is working on a fix to be included with their next firmware update. I didn't see this problem on Shogun that I tested.

    Hello @kpskhalsa,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that your monitor indicates that the screen is out of range when connected to your Macintosh computer, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
According to this document on using HP Monitors on a Mac:
"HP monitors are not supported in a Mac environment. However, newer Macs use graphics with VESA modes and can display to most HP LCD monitors. To do this, connect the monitor to the Mac while the Mac is off, and then turn on the MAC. The monitor should operate at 60Hz. The INF and software for the HP monitor are for Microsoft Windows and cannot be run in a standard MAC OS environment."

  • Input signal out of range with HDMI to VGA adapter LE1901w

    Hi!
Recently I acquired an LE1901w monitor to use as second screen. I'm trying to connect it to my Toshiba u925 using an HDMI to VGA adapter (because neither the monitor has a HDMI port nor the notebook has a VGA output).
I'm getting the message "input signal out of range" asking to change to 1440x920 @ 60Hz and it keeps showing until the monitor goes to sleep even when I change the settings as per requested.
I have an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 and i'm using the default Windows monitor drivers for Windows 8.1

    Hello @fbinim,
I understand that you are getting the message "Input Signal Out Of Range" and it is asking you to change to 1440x920 @ 60 Hz. I suspect this is a driver issue and you will need to ensure that your drivers are up to date on your computer. Just to be sure I would recommend if you could to move the HP LE1901W monitor to another computer and ensure that you do not have the problem there. If you do have it on another computer The issue you are experiencing appears to be a physical issue. Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. • Out of range output video size ?

    Hello,
I would like to use a camera which has a large output size, more than 1920x1080.
    When I select the camera, I've a message :
Out of range output video size
One or more output video width and height are out of range. Please provide video size in range 80x60 to 1920x1080.
Is it a limitation of FMLE or FMS ? (I think it's FMLE because the message appears even if the "save to file" is the only publishing format selected)
Is there a way to edit a confugration file to remove this limit ?
    Best regards,

why don't you change that background to what you want in desktop system preferences when the second monitor is connected? different monitors have different desktop backgrounds and they remember the settings from the last time they were connected.

    Hi Experts,
We have a program which sends mail using smartform output in 'PDF' format. We are able to preview smartform correctely in SAP and mail is also getting sent fine with attachment of form as PDF document. But, when we try to open the document, it gives error saying 'Number out of range'. Also, not all of the windows of smartform are appearing in document and some are coming only half.
We are not able to find out the reason for this. Any help would be appriciated.

  • VGA resolution out of range

Complete novice at this have just got myself a Mini tring to use it as a media center with a Sony Bravia KDL S40A12U. Have read about the problems using the two together and tried an app called DisplayconfigX. Tweaked the resolution and installed restarted the Mac blank screen and the message out of range from the TV. Luckly I can still use the DVI/HDMI connection and can use the Mini but how do I reset the VGA output.
    Intel Mini

I have same problem but reverse, VGA works but DVI/HDMI did not work. Even when I see it display well in safe mode, but goes blank after reboot thru HDMI.
I have installed SwitchresX but have uninstalled, doesn't help at all.
How to reset the display to default on DVI/HDMI?

  • HDMI output to monitor not displaying all colors

I am trying to use a second monitor on my Satellite S55t-b5152 and am able to get 1920x1080 output from the HDMI port through an adapter to either VGA or DVI into my external monitor, but with either adapter the colors look washed-out and not all the colors that are displayed on the internal monitor show up on the external monitor.  For example the position indicator in scroll bar on some apps shows up on the internal monitor, but disappears when I drag that window onto the external monitor.  I've tried multiple monitors and they all have the same symptom. I've investigated this some on external forums and it seems to be that the HDMI output under some conditions assumes that it is connected to a TV instead of a monitor and it limits the output color range.  On some graphics drivers it is possible to override that assumption and get the full range output from the HDMI port.  I haven't found a way to do that for the graphics driver on the S55t-b5152. Has anyone figured this out?

Just want to comment that I'm not at all surprised that an adapter does not produce true colors. I'm sometimes amazed they work at all.
Yours is HDMI 2.0 which complicates things still further.

  • Portege M800-105 - HDMI output driver for XP?

    Hi,
I've got a question wich belongs to the HDMI output.
I have put Windows XP Home on my Portege with all driver from the Toshiba support page but my HDMI out does not works.
Now I've seen that there is a driver for Windows Vista called Toshiba HDMI Output.
Does anybody knows a driver called like this for Windows XP?
Or has anyone the same problem working with XP but the HDMI output does not works?
I hope someone can help me with this problem.

    Hi
As far as I know this is a Intel High Definition Audio HDMI driver.
Im not a M800 owner but Ive got a U400 Satellite with HDMI output and installed XP.
To be honest I didnt notice any yellow exclamation marks in my device manager but I installed the Intel High Definition Audio HDMI driver from the Intel page

  • Can't get audio HDMI output to work on ViewSonic VX2453 monitor

I have a 13" mid 2011 MacBook Air and a new ViewSonic VX2453 monitor. I used the Monoprice mini display port to HDMI converter with audio and connected the monitor to my computer's thunderbolt port. The video works perfectly, but the sound isn't working at all. I set my computer's sound output in settings to VX2453 series (type: HDMI), and I set my monitor's audio input to HDMI. Nothing. I also tried changing the frequency in Audio MIDI Setup, which someone recommended on amazon  for the monoprice adapter, but that didn't work either.
I tested the monitor's sound by switching audio input instead to "audio in" and connected to my headphone jack, and that worked so the monitor's sound is fine.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Hi - I'm just setting up my VX2453, as well.  I got sound to come out of it via the same HDMI output setting on the Mac as you describe, so I think you're doing the right thing.
Be sure you've selected the correct HDMI input (?).
Related, on my monitor, the audio can't be adjusted anywhere other than through the cumbersome volume control on the monitor. That is, when playing over the HDMI on the monitor's speakers, the volume controls on the MacBook Pro no longer respond (grayed out).
Anyone know how to make the volume controls on the MBPro respond under that setup?
    Thanks.

  • Asus vh232h out of range, Mac mini thunderbolt to vga

    Hey guys,
Pretty much what the title says.....
    Mac mini
Asus vh232h (VGA only, no dvi socket)
    Thunderbolt to VGA adapter
    VGA cable (I've tried several)
(Benq monitor running fine on the hdmi port)
In short, if I use a VGA cable under 1.8m, there's no problem.
If I use a cable of 3m in length, or two x 1.8m cables, I get a "Out of range" message on the monitor.
(My office is shared space, so I need the Mac mini to be inside a lockable cupboard.  That means I need a cable longer than 1.8m)
FYI, I don't seem to be able to set the asus monitor resolution in Mac settings (not sure if it can be done when monitor is 'out of range', but I can see the Asus in Display settings, Arrangement. It looks about half the width and height of the benq.
Is a monitor supposed to connect successfully over a 3 m cable?
Will a thunderbolt to dvi adapter work? (Would have to buy new monitor)
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks,
    Darren

Bought a new benq 24" monitor, moshi mini display port to hdmi adapter, and 5m hdmi cable.
    Sorted.
Must be an issue with apple mdp to VGA adapter when using VGA cables over 1.8m long.

  • After upgrading to 10.6.3 TV is only showing "out of range" message

After upgrading to 10.6.3 my TV (Sharp 37XDE1) is only showing the message "out of range".
Before upgrading I had no problems.
Connection is via MiniDisplay Port to HDMI Adapter from iMac 24" or MacBook Pro 13".
The "Out of range" message could be an indicator that the resolution or the signal speed is not matching properly. I tried to get the signals and resolution in line with the SwitchResX utility but without success.
(TV monitor was recognized by the display preferences and SwitchResX)
    Any ideas whats wrong?

    HI,
If you didn't repair disk permissions after you updaed to 10.6.3, do that now.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

    <cfset myResult = myObj.myMethod(arg=value1, etc)>

  • Mac Mini HDMI Output Problem w/ LG L246WP

NOTE: This appears to be unrelated to the "screen flickering" that has been noted previously.
I'm using a fresh new Mac Mini 2012 with an LG L246WP LCD monitor. The monitor has HDMI, VGA and Component video inputs.
When I attach the monitor to the Mini DisplayPort output, using a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI cable, the display functions properly at all resolutions - including the native 1920 x 1200 resolution that I use it at normally. All resolutions are clearly displayed in the "Displays" System Preferences pane. The display looks perfect, functions properly.
When I attach the monitor to the HDMI port using an HDMI cable, the display does not fucntion properly. The display is shifted about 80-100 pixels to the left and about 20 pixels up, creating black bars on the bottom and right sides. Because of this, a large portion of the display is not visible including the menu bar and most of the left side. Additionally, the settings are reduced to "Best for Display" or "Scaled", with resolution options under "Scaled".
This is not acceptable. I had planned on simply using the Mini DisplayPort output as a workaround, since I already have the DVI adapter from an old setup, but I need to use Thunderbolt to access external hard drives for rapid data transfer. One of my Thunderbolt accessories does not have two ports, so I can't simply add the Mini DisplayPort adapter to a chain. The HDMI port needs to function properly with my monitor.
It's important to note that this monitor has functioned properly with many other comptuers running OS X, Windows and various Linux flavors and it hasn't ever done this before. I've tried several different HDMI cables, ruling that out as a problem. I've tried the HDMI to DVI adapter that ships with the Mac Mini 2012 along with two different DVI to HDMI adapters, ruling that out as a problem. I tried attaching several HDMI devices (game consoles, DVD players, etc) and they all function properly, ruling out an HDMI issue as a problem. The monitor functions properly when attached through the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter, so it's not a problem with the monitor. I've reset the PRAM already and the installation of OS X 10.8.1 is stock with no modifications or migrated data. I've tried the suggestions on the HDMI FAQ (although there's no "underscan" option available in Displays)
I tried to call AppleCare and after describing the problem I got disconnected with no callback. I started another ticket, described the problem, discussed the previous disconnection, was assured that I'd be called back if disconnected, and haven't heard back in two hours. So I started to dig into the problem in earnest.
    This gets pretty technical.
After substantial research, it appears that this issue is related to the EDID that the monitor sends to the computer and, crucially, the way that the driver responds to it. For some reason, the HDMI port is recognizing the monitor as a CEA device instead of a monitor. As a result, it's restricting the monitor's available resolution to the native resolution  that the CEA 681 Series Extension describes ("Best for Display") and all other resolutions (including 1920 x 1200) are only available as "scaled". For some reason that I can't discern, all resolutions (even the 1080i and 1080p options) have similar deformities.
I've attempted to fix this by placing an appropriate override file in /System/Library/Displays/Overrides with an edied EDID removing the CEA-enable flag from byte 127 but, even after a reboot, the OS still insists that it's a CEA device and it won't allow me to force it to recognize the monitor as a 1920 x 1200 LCD Monitor.
How did I come to this conclusion and develop the fix? A nearly identical problem description showed up on the following website, with details on how this user fixed the issue:
    http://byuu.org/articles/computing/edid
They used a convoluted process that involved dismantling the monitor and flashing the EDID on the monitor itself. It fixed their problem. I'd prefer not to go through that process just because one computer has a problem with it. Frankly, I'd prefer if the new Mac Mini performed properly in the first place.
TL;DR: The Mac Mini 2012 doesn't work right with the LG L246WP through the HDMI output. Everything else works fine with it. This is very uncool. It's most likely to be an issue with the driver for the Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU that are bundled with OS X 10.8.1. The Mac Mini 2012 won't update to 10.8.2 (yet), so I can't test it.
Anyone have any other ideas? Anyone else using a Mac Mini 2012 (or 2011) with an LG L246WP monitor? Anything simple I've missed?

Problem Resolved. But it was complicated. And a huge pain in the rear.
TL;DR: I flashed the EDID as described here. This is not recommended for the weary. Ideally, Apple should release an update OS X that will include the updated Intel HD Graphics 4000 drivers that utilize the CEA flag properly.
Here's the detailed version. As mentioned above, this isn't recommended for the weary. An improper (or interrupted) EDID flash can have seriously unpredictable effects on a monitor's performance.
Step 1: Get a Windows PC set up with a floppy drive and find a floppy disk. Use this system to format the floppy as a MS-DOS Boot Disk and copy over the "ddcw" program described at the aformentioned link.
This took awhile, but I was able to cobble together a temporary frankensystem with parts I had laying around. In installed XP and formatted the disk with XP's format tool.
Step 2: Grab EDID data from the monitor, modify it to disable CEA mode at bit 127 and make sure bit 128, the checksum, is appropriate.
This also took awhile. Several graphics cards I tried could not read or write EDID data. I ended up swapping AGP cards in my frankenstein box until I found one that worked - a generic GeForce4 4200.
Once the EDID data was written to the floppy, I edited the text file containing the EDID data to change the last two hex octets from "01 33" to "00 34" (00, to disable bit 127, and 34 is 33 + 1, which satisfies the checksum) and formatted the text file to match the sample included in the EDID_Write.zip file. Your mileage may vary - make sure the checks.
Step 3: Write EDID data to the monitor.
The link above mentioned three options: Easy (monitor's EDID is unprotected - write away!), Hard (monitor's EDID is protected - use service mode to attempt a fix), and Very Hard (monitor's EDID is protected, hardware modification is required).
Luckily my LG246WP simply needed to be put into service mode as described at the link above (menu + power) and once started up in service mode, I simply enabled "Aging Mode" (whatever that means) and attempted a DDCW write of the updated data.
    Step 4: Profit!
After doing this, I powered off the monitor and powered it back on with the Mac Mini attached. The display functions PERFECTLY with HDMI out, just as it does using the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter.
