Headless itunes server works when I'm screensharing in... but stops working when I stop screensharing. Server user remains logged in, but clients cannot access.

I have a headless OS X Server, on which I've created a new Network User: "iTunes". When I screenshare into the server machine, all my devices are able to see the Home Shared itunes account an play movies, TV and music. As soon as I stop screensharing in to the server machine (even though I keep the user "iTunes" logged in), none of my devices can access the home-shared account. Very strange... ideas??

I solved issue by completely uninstall Mc Cafee ==" (so persistent)
Phew, i can go to iTunes as usual

settigns>itunes and app store to make sure you are signed in.. If you are, you will see your account name..... anyhow, click your account name, sign out and sign back in
also go to to settings>general>reset and reset network settings... if that doesnt work settings>general>reset and reset all settings!

I have the same problem. It is only with tv shows and only with programs I have downloaded after the software update.
Apple support sent me the above link too....but it doesn't solve the problem...my computer is authorized and the content is in my library and will play on my Mac air, but it will not sync the tv shows, it keeps saying my computer isn't authorized for it.

That's usually a symptom of a phone that was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it.

Access to SSO login when client cannot access port 7777

We have a situation in which some of our users are behind internet firewalls that only allow access to port 80.
I already have the middle tier/portal using port 80 but SSO is using 7777. Is there an easy way to make sign on available via port 80?
IMPORTANT: Both infrastructue and middle tier on are the same windows server.

I tried you method and after failed some times i found out;
inside the dads.conf
database string : localhost: 1521:ORCL ....
but when you want to loggin on your web browse, you cannot use 1521.
you need to use 7777
http://localhost:7777/pls/apex
it worked!
But I cannot access the admin page as what the manual said use the same method:
http://localhost:7777/pls/apex_admin
It said the page was not found???????????????
And I don't know how to login to the apex.
I typed in I think the right infromation:
workspace: orcl
user name: ADMIN
password: oracle( and I know it is right)
but I cannot login.

Windows 7 pro client cannot access folders on server 2003 domain server

I added a windows 7 64 bit client to a server 2003 32 bit domain 3 weeks ago and file sharing was working fine until today, 5/4/12. Now, when trying to access shared folders that reside on the server,
I get the following "access denied" message:
[…folder…] is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The user name could not be found.
Strangely enough...
The windows 7 client
can open shared folders that reside on the XP clients in the domain
All the XP clients in the domain can access the server 2003 folders
All the XP clients and the server 2003 machine can access shared folders and printers on the windows 7 client.
The windows 7 client can ping the server 2003 machine and vice versa
I can “see” the server in my network list, but when I click on it, I get the same “access denied” message listed above.
So... the only problem is that the windows 7 client cannot access folders that reside on the windows server 2003 machine. There must be some sharing setting that got changed
by a recent windows update.
Here is what I have done/verified so far on the windows 7 client:
In advanced sharing settings for Home/Work, Public and Domain profiles:
network discovery is enabled
file and print sharing is enabled
use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers is selected (I also tried allowing windows to manage homegroup connections instead, but the problem remained.)
40 -56 bit encryption is enabled
In “gpedit.msc” Local Policies/Security Settings:
enabled the following policies:
Network access: Allow anonymous SID/name translation
Network access: Let Everyone permissions apply to anonymous users
disabled the following policies:
Network access: Restrict anonymous access to Named Pipes and Shares
Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts
Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts and shares
What am I missing? Are there policies on the server that need to be adjusted?
Please help! My business is crippled if I cannot access server files from this workstation. Thank you in advance.

Tried that by shutting down via the power button only as the normal shutdown was nixed by the open window issue. It did not help. Found a very similar question in the discussions and it recommended "Force Quit". That worked and the update works normal and the window is gone. Thanks!

Have you tried to completely sign out of iCloud and then adding it back again? By the way, a software update to the latest version of OSX could also help to fix it (think about it, because Mavericks is a free upgrade).

Sorry I cannot follow why you would even use the PC to control the Time Capsule. Apple have not kept the Windows version of the utility up to date.. so they keep making it harder and harder to run windows with apple routers.

Everything seems to work, besides at times (a couple times today) it terminates his ethernet card/connection. I would re-image his computer but he has several applications and it would take several hours, so I am hoping someone has an idea to fix this issue. So I was trying to figure out why he did not get the prompt to login and why it's not in the systray and it appears to not have completed the install? I checked the add/remove programs, its not listed within their, I also checked the registry and found nothing for endpoint within their, but the files are within c:\program files\novell\zenworks endpoint security.
I have also tried uninstalling it but that fails due to it "not being installed", and it will not reinstall over itself either.
I did notice that stuninstdrv.exe is running in task manager. Any help would be great...

If you are searching the registry, check for the "Senforce" string. It should be at HKLM\Software\Senforce
Try running the install program for the ZSC with the following command line:
setup.exe /V"STUNINSTALL=1"
If you've specified an uninstall password, try this one instead:
setup.exe /V"STUNINSTALL=1 STUIP=password"" (please note the double quote at the end)

Headless iTunes server

Hello all,
I have been looking for a while now and can't quite seem to find answers. i have bought a mac mini and plan to use it as a headless always on file/itunes server. I understand that through sharing I can play my library through all the other computers in the house, airtunes and apple tv. However my question is since the server is headless I am not sure how I am going to get music/videos into it? How would all of you do it?
On my network, 802.11g over airport extreme, I have an apple tv, airtunes, 2 powerbooks, 1 mac mini, and a Powermac G5. I would like to have the ability to update the iTunes server via anyone of these computers, and play through these computers.

I do it slightly in reverse but if you think about it you can try this, firstly I have my main G5 mac with the itunes library and i keep the music in the shared folder. I then set up a slave G4 machine that runs a copy of nicecast streaming my iTunes music across the internet which i can pick up at work with itunes as a streaming music source.
After setting up the servers copy of itunes to look across the home wireless network to use the shared music library on the G5. From the G5 iTunes i then export the library as an xml file which takes all my convoluted smart playlists etc. and from the G4 iTunes import that so the two machines look at the same playlist structure. I can then set up the nice cast to play specific playlists whilst when i am home i can use the G5 ( subject to my recent loss of remote speakers) to play what i want when working on the G5.
There wil lbe problems when you try to load new music to avoid the libraries getting out of sync. As i intend to keep the G5 the master library so only add music to it then always export the library to refresh the music servers copy.
I look after a number of Mac Mini's at local pubs who when they have problems it can be difficult getting to the computer in a busy bar so i got a copy of Apple Remote Desktop and i can do what i need to sat well away from the bar and never touching the mac.
If you have .mac and put Leopard on both machines the new 'view screen' feature that is in leopard for .mac users that gives you a similar type of interface control over networked macs which means you could manage the headless unit remotely..... holler back if you need know more

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.
