Hello?  Can you hear me?

Skype works fine, but the phone feature on my iPhone4 is not working!  It calls and receives calls just fine.  Difficult to hold any sort of conversation because you can't hear them and they can't hear you!  My iPhone has reverted to just being a glorified iTouch.  I have a feeling it's the software update.  Software is OS 4.3.  I have turned it off and on, set to factory, reloaded, etc.  Seriously do I have to wait until OS5 comes out  in months?  Please, for the love of all that is good, does anyone have any idea what I can do?

Since you have already Restarted, Reset, and Restored your phone, the phone comes with a one year warranty.  If it doesn't work get it fixed or replaced.
Make an appointment to have an Apple Retail Store Genius look at your phone. http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/
Or call U.S. iPhone technical support: 1-800-MY-IPHONE (1-800-694-7466) or the number for your country found here:  http://www.apple.com/support/contact/phone_contacts.html

Yes, this has been allowed with Adobe applications going back many years.  A program such as Photoshop can legally be installed and activated on two computers at a time for the use of the single licensed user.  You can't install legally on your own and a friend's computer for use by the two different people.  Prior to Creative Cloud, there was an unwritten limit on how many times a given application could be activated, but there is no longer such a limit under CC.  That means you could theoretically install on three or four computers, activating only two at a time, and then deactivating one or both before activating on another computer.

Can you please advise me as to the recommended system requirements for Adobe CC for Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Dreamweaver (all 4 programs). I'm hoping this is summarized somewhere rather than making me look up and compare all four. I'll be using a windows based PC, and will need a graphics card that can support at least two monitors.

  • Hello, can you say to me which tool to use to correct a sound track saturated in audition.

    Hello,
Can you tell me which tool to use to correct a soundtrack saturated in audition.
    thank's

    Hi
With regard to your question, is this an over-recorded audio track that you wish to recover?
You don't give me much to go on, but try this
If it is a single over-modulated track, open it in Edit View, Select all, then
go into edit menu and select convert sample type and select mono or  stereo whichever applies,
then select the bit depth of 32, and make sure the sample rate is correct for the file, e.g. 44.1 etc
    then select OK
Depending on file size it may take a minute or two, but when done, Select the full file by double
clicking on the waveform and then go into effects "Amplitude and Compression" and select
normalise and select show in dB's, Then "Normalise to" and enter - 3dB this means minus
The ensure that the other options are ticked e.g Normalise all channels equally, if it is a stereo
file, and click and select "DC" bias adjust to 0.00%
This should reduce the level, check is sounds ok, and if you are satisfied with it convert the sample
type back to the bit depth and sample rate of the original recording.
If you are not happy with the result, if was very badly distorted, try a lower normalise value of -6dB
Hope this helps, if I haven't understood your problem please add more details
    Cheers

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here. I don't know what 'H series' is, but assuming that it's a TV series then you can try requesting it via this page, but ultimately it's the TV company that will have to provide it and grant Apple a license to sell it in your country : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • Can you hear the fans on iMac? (my new 2011 27'' i5 fans are constantly audible even from a distance)

I have the 2011 27'' Imac i5 and I can hear the fans all the time as of start. It's not super strong but clearly audible even from distance. istat shows normal fan speeds (1100/1300/1000 respectively) . The noise bothers me a lot especially in a silent room. The fans start to be audible immediately after switching on and get higher (+temperature rises significantly) under any easy activity .. like streaming a video from net.
Can you hear the fans on yours at all?

Do a SMC reset (maybe do it 2-3x) and if the problem persists as you have been advised call AppleCare.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • HT1751 Hello, can you help? I have backed up iTune library to an external hard drive, but want to set up periodic back ups every month. Do I have to follow the "Consolidate file" procedure every time I back up, and does my original back become over writte

Hello can anyone help? I have sucessfully backed up  my iTuines library to an external hard drive, but when backing up in the furture (Monthly)  do I have to follow the same procedure again, and will this place an additonal copy of my iTunes library on my hard drive, so duplicating the back up and so rapidly fill my hard drive.
Ideally what I would like, is for the lateset back up to over write the original so saving space on my external hard drive. Many thanks ......Steve

The "consolidate" command has nothing to do with making backups. You use that command when you have had content in multiple places and you wish to have it now all in a single iTunes folder. If all of your content is already in the iTunes folder, then the "consolidate" command will be of no use to you. You will make further backups using whatever method you normally would use to make backups of your data in Windows.
    Regards.

  • Can You Hear the Difference?

Seriously. I can hear the difference between 16 bit and 24 bit and 44.1 and 48kHz. I recorded the same acoustic guitar part through a Line6 PodXT Pro this evening at 96kHz and 48kHz, both at 24 bit - I can't hear it. I can crank it and of course I lose the objectivity (but it sounds good) and at low volumes I'm not hearing the voodoo that makes 96kHz so 'magical'.
When I record in 192kHz I get a Core Audio Overload. Go figure. But seriously, am I alone here or is this level of hearing for mastering engineers supreme? What do you record at, and if it's 96kHz or more, do you just pass it on at that rate to your mastering guys?

    Hi The Black Room.
Here's the "skinny" in high sample rates,et al...:
1.Anyone CAN tell the difference between low and high sample rates.that is not difficult at all.The catch is that if you have source material that does NOT have frequencies above 22kHz (the limit of 44.1kHz sample rate recording) then you will absolutely not hear any difference at a higher sample rate. Why? Because there is no more information there,it is identical.
2.You have to be VERY careful when attempting to do listening tests. The first consideration to look at,is your MONITORING equipment. If you have equipment that is NOT capable of reproducing high frequencies, and I mean frequencies above 20kHz,there is NO POINT in playing back anything above 20kHz,because the reproduction equipment will NOT play it back. This includes mixers, amplifiers, speakers, monitor routing boxes,et al.
So,my friend,if you REALLY want to listen to differences in sample rates, you will have to make some effort in doing one of two things:
1.Go to a professional studio that has equipment capable of reproducing high frequencies.
    OR
2.Purchase some test equipment such as a signal frequency generator that does output frequencies ABOVE 22kHz,plus an oscilloscope that can also "see" frequencies above 22kHz.also,you will need a sound source that is KNOWN to contain more than 22kHz of info.Your Logic Pro internal oscillator will not be good enough, and forget CDs.You will need to make a fresh recording of an acoustic instrument such as piano, violin,or the like.to do this, you will NEED a microphone capable of passing through it's circuitry Freqs. above 22kHz. (Neumanns can) and also a mic preamplifier capable of passing thru above 22kHz as well.Neve preamps can do this.
Electric guitars is a no-no,as they rarely go much above 15kHz.Acoustic guitar,maybe...the upper harmonics on an acoustic "might" show up,if they are loud enough.
    Cheers

  • On the iPhone 5/5s, can you hear the other person properly when they are lying down?

When I use the iPhone 5s while lying down in bed, the other person is unable to hear me.  When someone who is using the iPhone 5s is lying down in bed, I cannot hear them.
Is this a known issue?  Has anyone else experienced this issue?  Does anyone know what causes this issue?  I actually used to have this same issue with the HTC One, and I was under the impression that it had to do with the accelerometer of smartphones.  I do not know of any other difference between smart phones and normal phones.
It's rather annoying, such a basic feature of a PHONE product to be able to talk and hear clearly.  Major fail, Apple.  For this alone, I may consider switching to another phone.
I have found other comments from iPhone 5 users who have the same issue:  http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/11/29/iphone-5-review/
    MICROPHONE
I don’t know if it’s because I have big hands or what, but there many times when people on the other end of the phone can’t understand a thing I’m saying. Specifically, any time I lay down flat on my back, the iPhone 5′s microphones seem to go especially bad. A few times, it’s gotten so bad that the people on the other end of the line hung up because they couldn’t deal with it.

Please Apple.  Fix this significant bug/defect in your product in your next software update.  I know this is a software issue probably related to the Accelerometer detecting that the phone is not upright and then turning off the receiver.  Not sure why you would even want to do that.
It is ridiculous that the iPhone cannot perform the most BASIC function of voice calls.  After all, that is what you buy the phone for... the texting, internet, applications are all bonus.  Phones are used while lying down, upside down, lying on the side, etc.  You are basically hurting yourself and your customer base with this significant design flaw.  Think about all the couples talking to their significant others when they're lying in bed first thing in the morning or last thing in the evening they are long distance.  Think about hospital patients who want to speak with their families.  Think about the homeless on the streets with their iPhones lying down calling people to give them money (or not...).
Anyway, you get my point.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fix it.  I only recently changed from being an Android user to an iPhone user... this is seriously my biggest gripe with your product.

  • Can you hear other people, but they can't hear you? Here's how I fixed it.

If you're having the same problem I did where you could hear other people on a call, but they couldn't hear you and your microphone worked fine for everything else then you are in the same boat I was.
After a week of trying to fix it, a friend and myself have our phones working correctly again and my phone has been working fine for the past 3 days now.
To fix the problem, we re-downloaded the 4.2.1 file outside of iTunes and did a restore on the phone. (We both restored from a backup and it still worked). You can find the specific file download links on the 4th post on this page: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1052794&page=5 or through apple's support downloads page. Once downloaded, double click the file to open it (iTunes should open) and plug your phone in then do a restore. We both did ours from a backup and it still worked fine, the thing that has to be reinstalled is the update, which is what the restore will do.
It took my friend three tries of downloading until his worked, but for me it worked on the first try.
Good luck to anyone who also had this problem!

Good news! I believe I have fixed my phone!!
A friend of mine was having the same problem that I was having where you could hear other people but they couldn't hear you.
We fixed the problem by redownloading the 4.2.1 update. 4th post down on this page: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1052794&page=5 is a list of links to the update files. I downloaded the one for my phone and did a restore (from a backup) after downloading the file and double clicking it so iTunes opens. Since I've done this my phone has been working perfectly again!
It might take you a few tries, it took my friend 3 tries until his worked right and it worked for me on the first try. I'm guessing something was screwing up during the download.

  • Customer Service....Can you hear me at all???

I have been with Verizon for years now, and have never had a single complaint until this past year. And the complaint I have is in a major way. I have always experienced kind and helpful associates when I have had an issue, since I upgraded my plan, (which also made my bill higher) and got the Droid X2 this year I have had nothing but trouble with this phone, I am on my 3rd one in less than a year. The last time they replaced it, I tried to activate it from my home which I have done with every phone I have had from Verizon, and it would not work. I then had to call customer support, and the tech I got was rude, he did not listen to me at all when I told him I was in the same service area I had been all along, he told me I would have to either try to activate it at work which is in the same area as my home, or drive 30 minutes out of my way to activate cause the phone was not seeing the tower...the phone I was sending back to them was seeing the tower, I can see their tower from my drive way. I was on the phone for over 2 hours, and I had already been at work all day, he would not listen to me at all when I told him I lived in the same place I have lived since signing up with them, instead he ARGUED with me that I needed to get in my car and leave my home to activate, after his rudeness, and the aggravation I've experienced with this phone he had me in tears, and was snide with me, he also went on to see if my bill had been paid and I informed him I pay over $100 a month for this one phone and that my bill is always on time. Then just before I was ready to give up and tell him that I would activate it when I could go to a Verizon Store, he said I can do one last thing, I will try a fast boot, in which that worked, my replacement phone had not been totally wiped clean it thought it was in Texas, and I am far from Texas. That was just the first incident. The second incident happened a week ago, we had a bad storm in which it took out our power, phone and my cell service. So, when I got to my WORK, I used their phone to call and report the tower down ( I knew of several other Verizon Customers in my area that were out, so I knew it was NOT a phone issue). When I got connected to a tech I told them that I was reporting a tower down in our area and about the other Verizon customers who were out of service since the storm, he then ignored me, and said it was a phone issue that he could not see on his map that there was a tower down and proceeded to put me through the activation process 3 TIMES, then he ask me if I was in Texas...I said No, which really makes me wonder if this phone is really in proper working order, keep in mind I'm at work on my employers phone, I told him every time we tried the activation process it didn't do anything cause I didn't have service, and that was the problem cause my phone had been working properly the night before, and then my service went out. He still refused to listen to me, and at this point I was very frustrated, being that I had no home phone cause of it being out due to weather, and my cell due to a tower, if I had a family emergency I had no way of contacting anyone. After going through all of this on the phone, a co worker of mine could tell what was happening, and was starting to get extremely upset cause she also has Verizon and her service was out. Later, another co worker called Verizon, and they NEVER once went through the "activation" process with her, or even once tried to say it was a phone issue, the said they would tag our area to have our tower checked, and in fact the tower was out in our area. When my service came back I had a voicemail from Verizon asking me to rate the service I had received that day, and was cut off before I could finish it. I'm very shocked and displeased over how things have went in just the last 6 months with Verizon, I have always praised and recommended them, because of their unbeatable service and staff, but now I am really starting to think about what I should do when my contract runs out, and to top it all off I got a notification in the mail this past week telling me that my bill is going to go up AGAIN, due to a change in the amount of cost for the insurance. Thanks Verizon, you have made me feel like such a valued customer, I pay my bill every month on time, I upgrade my phone and plan when you say its time, and I get treated like you think I'm stupid and that I don't pay my bill, well just a bit of info for you, I work and a financial institution, and I ALWAYS pay my bills on time or early.

I hear ya I hear ya. I also have had Verizon for a long time and the service had progressively gotten much worse. I have started a few threads and they get closed when I mention my biggest pet peeve. My one phone contract is up in sept. and I will be looking for prepaid. The other is up in 11 months and I will be doing the same. When I switched contracts I was told my bill would go down well it went up $20.00. Is all they said was ahh well!
After waiting for 10-15 minutes and hitting a bunch of numbers you get someone who cannot seem to understand or speak the ENGLISH language.

    Biron 64,
    Hello,
Je voudrais transférer des photos de mon PC sur mon iPad,
Merci de me donner la marche à suivre

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)
