HELP - 3G phone dead - won't charge.

I had my 3G iphone with me this morning, it warned me that my battery was below 10%. I didn't charge the phone at this point. After about 30 minutes i picked up my phone and it was completely dead. I figured it just needed to be charged, but after a few different attempts (different computers, outlet charger) at charging...nothing. The phone remains in a "dead" state.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
MM2270

Important: If iPhone or iPod touch is very low on power, it may display one of the following images indicating that the device needs to charge for up to ten minutes before you can use it. If the device is extremely low on power, the display may be blank for up to two minutes before one of the low-battery images appears. If you don't see the white charging or plug icons, then disconnect the FireWire cable (or remove from the third-party dock or accessory) and connect iPhone 3G to a USB cable or dock.
So, plug it into the wall and give it an hour.

  • Help! My iPad won't charge!

Hi there, I'm a guy from China.I think I have a serious problem with my beloved iPad.
A friend of mine bought an iPad in April in the US and sent it to me back in China. I love it very much.Every thing goes fine and the iPad has helped me a lot during my school time. But a couple of days ago, it suddenly went wrong: IT WON'T CHARGE!
Well, actually, it still charges, but at a very very slow rate, about 1% a hour. The fact is killing me. Also, it won't be recognized by the iTunes, the iPad's screen won't display any information when it's connected to my iMac or the iPad AC adapter or my iPhone's AC adapter or any other USB ports.
I've tried every single method I can think of to solve the problem, but still nothing works.
    I've found a similar problem here, http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2438359&tstart=-2
[ Used iPad for 10 days and suddenly it won't charge thru computer or even AC adaptor. Can't recognized iTunes. Apple system profile doesn't show it is connected.
Try every single method such as reset content and setting, boot into recovery mode, reinstall iTunes... Still nothing happened...
    Anyone could help? ]
But that guy got lucky and solved it with a "cold" (full) reboot, and mine seems not. I've already cold rebooted it for 3 times, nothing happened.
We have an Apple Retail Store here, about 100 miles from where I'm living. But the guys told me that since this particular iPad was bought in the US and currently there are no official iPad sold here in China yet. So they won't give my iPad the warranty.
It would be very inconvenient for me to send it back to the US and have it sent back after repair.
So, anyone can help with my iPad? Thanks.

The exact same thing happened to me. All of a sudden, it stopped charging. Everybody tried to tell me it was that I was using the wrong charger (not 10W) or not plugging it into the wall. I went out and bought new iPad chargers in the event it was the charge, not the iPad - to no avail. I called Support, and ended up having to take the iPad to the Apple Store. They are replacing it.
Having read your blog, I believe this is not a random occurrence. My bet is that others are experiencing the same thing. It is a shame that Apple won't do anything to help you.

  • My iPad is dead, won't charge, won't even turn on. Please HELP?

My iPad was at 73% when I took a walk earlier it was hooked up to the charger, the screen was off, and nothing could've happened to it. Once I came back home my iPad was completely dead and wouldn't turn back on. I've tried the 2 button method and it hasn't worked. Nothing has worked, it's still not turning on and it's been doing this for 3 hours now. I've had my iPad since I was 13, I'm 16 now and really don't need it having to be comepletely reset. Too many memories to lose. Please, somebody help me?

    Hi, summer.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that your iPad will not power on.  Here is a troubleshooting article that I would recommend going through for this issue.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on
Keep in mind that the step referencing Forced Recovery will wipe your data, so verify if you have a backup via the second article below.
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes

  • I phone 4s won't charge anymore only 8 wks old and after the update we just got to do

My I phone 4s is 8 weeks old.  I did the os update a few days ago and today when i went to use my phone it said it was low on charge.  I tried plugging it in to the computer no help.  I used my wifes cord from her I phone and still no good.  My wifes phone charges on both cables and she also did the os update at the same time.  I called verizon an after some trouble shooting with them they passed me over to a different tech support.  They told me that about 2 out of every 10 I phones get this problem and they will have to send me a new one in the mail.  Wow 20 pct of the I phones have this issue.  So now i'm assuming that I'm not going to be able to get my contacts or pictures out of this phone.  I'm just wondering if it was caused by the os that I upgraded too but all the post i see on line are of the battery draining faster than before havn't found a post about this issue

You can call Verizon to replace it or go to an applestore to replace it since it won't even power on with multiple chargers.

  • Battery dead, won't charge. Doesn't turn on if unplugged. Can I reset it?

I have a white MacBook that I received as a high school graduation present. When it passed into my hands, everything ran normally except the battery; its condition renders my MacBook to be, in effect, a desktop with a built-in trackpad. It won't even turn on if it's not plugged in, and if it's unplugged while it's on, it responds the same way a desktop computer would if there were a sudden power failure; it completely shuts down, the unsafe way.
I highly doubt I have any warranty left on it, considering it's not a recent MacBook (there is an LED and the words "num lock" on the F6 key, and the volume keys are on F3, F4, and F5), and my grandfather installed some new hardware in it before it became mine. The battery was like this when I received it. Is there a way to trick the battery into thinking it's brand-new, or will I have to buy a new battery altogether?

  • HELP! My iPod won't charge or wake up!

I was watching a video when it showed an alert that my battery source has been depleted then turned off. I then plugged my iPod into the USB port of my computer. It had been plugged in for at least two hours and when I tried to turn it on it does nothing.
I tried sliding the "hold" button on then off and I would get the charging battery image for a moment then it would disappear. I don't know what's going on. Could it be that I have a faulty battery?!
Is anyone else having this problem? Can anyone help?

It does not sound too promising.
    Suggested solutuins I would try....
    1) Try a restore with iPod updater.
    2) Try a reset.
    3) If all else fails take it back or phone Apple. Could be a dodgy battery.
    Good luck!

  • Nano 1 gb completely dead won't charge

Nano battery ran down...tried to charge today via usb cable; apple logo appeared and disappeared lots of times then nothing. Tried to reset more than 5 times and nothing - just dead. I know usb cable works because I can charge another ipod fine. Any suggestions?
    pc   Windows XP

If your ipod is still in warranty contact applecare and see about getting a replacement. They won't send a new battery and expect you to install it, they would replace the whole ipod (unless of course there is accidental damage to it.)
I wouldn't advise trying to replace a nano battery on your own.

  • Please Help! My battery won't charge. Not sure if this is my battery or the charger causing the problem.

I recently came down to Costa Rica to do some work abroad and last week my battery display showed it wouldn't charge higher than 15%. I've kept the charger plugged in to avoid a total shut down and everytime I do unplug I lose power. I'm not sure if this is my battery or the charger that is faulty. I'm now at 8% power and freaking out as I have work to do and I'm nowhere near an apple store or certified repair shop. I can keep my charger plugged in but must find a solution. A new charger or battery can possibly be brought to me from San Jose but I must know asap to request the product.
Any help is SOOO greatly appreciated. THANK YOU.
    Some Details on my computer...

Hi Riyanna.  Do you have the mag safe power cord with you and will it turn on with it?  With it plugged in you should be able to go to the top right screen menu and click on battery. It should say power source power adapter. It maybe grayed out , but that is ok. That means your power adapter is working. Then it will not hurt to run the SMC reset  or pram reset. The other thing is if you are using an Aplle power supply there will be a green light showing on it.

  • Please help, battary is dead and original charger is broken

    Hello,
a couple weeks ago, my original charger for my playbook broke. Since than, I did not use my playbook so often, because, the battary, was already really low and I though I just need to buy a usb adapter for it. Yesterday I bought it and I plugged it and nothing happened except that the light on the top is red for maybe 10 seconds and than it turns in green and blinks 5 times. so empty right?
Charging via Laptop is not possible and I´ve tried to reinstall my OS but it can´t connect to the device. probably, because the battary is empty. Can´t boot at all. Any helpful idea? thank you guys

    That is good... be patient.
LEAVE it connected to the wall outlet charger (not the USB > PC charger).
Leave it connected for 24 hours... every 3-5 hours, press and hold the power button only for about 20 seconds. Eventually it will boot on up, but first must reach a certain charge level.
You will see the blinking red and perhaps yellowish LED light, and perhaps a symbol on screen of "no battery". That means the battery is drained, but it must reach a certain charge before powering on.

  • Help! Incredible 2 won't charge!

I've had my incredible 2 for about 10 months and haven't had any problems. However, as of two days ago the phone stopped charging. I've left it on the charger over night and the orange light blinks (only for short amounts of time) but doesn't stay lit like it normally does when on the charger. I don't know what to do, I tried taking out the battery and nothing has been solved. Anyone else having this issue/know a way to fix it?

Did you just do the Droid update on July 5th or close to that date?  I did and my phone is losing it's charge very rapidly, rebooting constantly, dying whenever it feels like it, etc.  It corresponds 100% with the update as I had no problems before an immediately had issues afterwards.

  • Ipad dead won't charge

    ipad died suddenly wont charge

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. It was working fine then all of a sudden it wouldnt turn on so I reset it, and now when I plug it in to computer or wall charger, it wont charge or show up on PC or iTunes. I tried resetting it 5 more times, reinstalling iTunes and restarting computer, nothing. I even tried a different usb cable. How can I fix it?

    See these troubleshooting articles.
    My iPod is sad.
iPod displays a "sad iPod" icon.
What does this picture on my iPod mean?
Also, there is a pretty comprehensive post written by another forum member which is about the sad iPod icon or the folder and ! icon. Be aware that it's quite involved and contains some info that will almost certainly void the warranty. If your iPod is still within the warranty period, you should use that option first.
