HELP!!!!!!! 9iDS

I really need HELP!!
I've created a form in 9iDS with 2 TAB PAGES. The first tab page works fine. I have two blocks in two frames on the first tab. When the form is opened, the two blocks are automatically filled; HOWEVER, when the second TAB is clicked, the user has to click in the field of the block, which holds the "copy from field" data is viewable, and then click query/execute. I need this to open up on the click of the TAB from the user and then automatically populate the fields. All three blocks are joined to the master detail list. I've tried find_tab_page (but couldn't figure out where to place the trigger). Any help would be really appreciated..... please help...

I got the message 500 internal server error when I run report from form by using WEB.SHOWDOCUMENT. When I test it seperately, both the report and form work fine. Thanks for the reply! And yes its very frustrating. There is no other reference to this error - and I have the app and all Oracle components (oc4j & Apache) at their maximum log level.
I have logged a SR with Oracle and off course their first response was that it "must be an issue with the 3rd party app". Needless to say the 3rd party vendor suggests I speak to Oracle...Anyway I am still working with Oracle on the SR.
I have in the meantime upgraded to 9041, but I still get the same. I will try 9042 next. I have also started a "Plan B" workaround in my code...

HELP: Reports Builder 9iDS Rel2 and SQL Server 2000

Hi,
I need to connect to a SQL Server 2000 database from within Report Builder (for a proof of concept) and I am getting error 62000-Failed to connect to datasource.
Can you help?
My OS is Windows Prof 2000.
I have Downloaded Oracle 9iDS Rel2 and Oracle 9i AS J2EE and Web Cache. They are installed in the same Oracle Home.
I have modified the REPORTS_CLASSPATH with the datadirect jar files and the j2ee oc4j.jar.
The oc4j.jar is in my system classpath.
I have added the classpath definition with jars to my rwserver.conf.
I start Report Builder select JDBC Query
enter my connect info:
Username: user
Passowrd: pwd
Database: dbname
and select the merant-sqlserver driver from the list.
What am I doing wrong?
I have been at this a week can anyone help?

Hi Jeanne
1. When you run the report to paper design from builder, you need to add the necessary jar file of driver to REPORTS_CLASSPATH env variable in registery.
2. To run the report from report server and to generate to file from report builder, you need to add the jar files via classPath attribute of engine element in server/builder conf file. It would be like this
<engine id="rwEng" .....classPath="<yr classpath>" >
3. Have a look at jdbcpds.conf file in OH/reports/conf dir. This file need to have the driver information for the driver you are using. The entry here also specifies the connect sting format which is required by the driver. You need to refer to driver doc for connect string format.
Once you have all this set up ready, run the report. You need to mention the connect string in same format as specified in driver info in jdbcpds.conf file.

9iDS Forms/Reports Help

Hi All,
Can some one help me out ...
I installed 9iDS on my Windows 2000 PC and able to run my FORMS .
But I'm not able to run my Reports from the FORM . I used RUN_REPORT_OBJECT
to run reports and it works fine in Forms6i and shows report in another window .
Is there any configuration needs to be done in order to Run reports
from FORMS in 9iDS ?.
Also I'm able to access my FORMS remotely in my network with the browser using 9iDS
machine URL (Which is my PC).Can I do the same and run my Reports from FORM remotley too ?
Cause we need to do a demo for our managers to get approval for Oracle Software .

just for a test: put the Report module into the <IDS Home>\Reports\samples\demo directory and reference it in teh Forms Reports node by its name only (no path information). If you run this then the Reports Server should find teh module because the path mentioned above by default is set in theReports_Path variable.
Does your physical path to the Reports rdf file contain blanks like in c:\program files\reports ?
Is there a reason why you execute the Reports twice

9iDS Forms Help not working

I cannot get the Help to work in 9iDS forms. I have upgraded to 9iDS 9.0.2.0.1 (which I believe is the latest) and still have the problem. All other installations in our shop get a FRM-xxxxx error message.
I have had a TAR on Metalink for two weeks now and all of the advice of the support rep is doing no good.
Anyone else out there with the same problem?

New info : I have created seperate homes for the 9iDS (Forms, Reports &
JDeveloper baseline -- Complete installation) and the JDeveloper only
(JDeveloper installation).
I have applied the Developer patch 1 to the 9iDS home.
I have applied the JDeveloper 903 'patch' to the JDev home.
There is no way to remove the JDeveloper component only from the full iDS
install so that developers do not mistakenly chose the wrong release.
Both of these homes appear to function properly.
I would consider this a workaround fix. There should be no need for seperate
homes I would suspect.

The 9.0.2 version of Jdeveloper is shipped with the Oracle 9iDS Rel 2 suite.I beleive that Forms 9i and Jdeveloper 9.0.3 are not compatible due the difference in the Required Support Files (RSF) of each.

Help about forms 9ids running in client/server

I have forms 9ids and can i run the forms in client/server mode but not in web?

iDS Release 1 contains Forms 6i. It can run in character mode, client/server mode, or web mode.
iDS Release 2 containts Oracle9i Forms. It is web only.

Help in starting 9iDS after installing it in RH8.0

(comment ---> I really need this to work. It's the first time I write in this forum, I'll appriciate your kindness.)
I've just installed the 9iDS in RH8.0, there where some errors during the installation process; however, close it and when resuming the installation just finished perfectly!.
I need to work with Forms and Report Designer, but I don't know how to start the applications for getting them to work. I'll appriciate enormously if someone could helpme with that.
I've read a lot, but I still can't find the way of executing these apps. I remember the famous Windows way: Start > Programs > Oracle ...Click; but how can I do it in RH8.0 with the Shell(I guess, cause there weren't any shortcut created during the installation process).

Lucky you, i've not gone throught the complete install under UnitedLinux...but i know how to start the thing : Have a look under you $ORACLE_HOME and search for a file name forms90.sh or something like that, it is a template of all environnement variables that you have to set for forms to run. The most important one is your DISPLAY. After setting all that stuff you just type the name of the forms executable file (look under $ORACLE_HOME/bin...it should be like f90desm)...sorry for not being precise, its because i'm windozing right now ;)

Problem background first.
We are telecom software company and in process of upgrading our Oracle Based product to Oracle 9iAS.
We are trying to integrate reports9i with forms9i by replacing run_product with run_report_object.
Platforms: Server-Solaris with Oracle9iAS rel 2 serving as middle tier,Windows 2000 as client with Oracle 9iDS Release 2 installed.
Problem Description
I have a report server named 'repserver2' running on the server.
I run form from Windows 2000 using local f90servlet and it connects to report server on Solaris through run_report_object and the report runs successfully.
When I run the same form (compiled on server ofcourse) on Solaris using server's f90servlet through client browser on windows 2000 and try connecting the same report server on Solaris ...it gives a blank screen.
Things Done already
Forms and reports are already running in non-secure mode.I had made changes to rwserlet.properties for parameter SINGLESIGNON=FALSE.and repserver2.conf where security_Id=rWSec was removed.These changes were done long before according to Integration document frm9isrw9i.pdf
2.I was able to run rwclient/rwservlet on server.Though rwclient command does not show the report output.But I can still see the report successfully run in the report server's queue.
3.Report server's trace and logs do not show any entry.
4.The application log from file <ORACLE_HOME>/j2ee/OC4J_BI_Forms/application-deployments/forms90app/OC4J_BI_Forms_default_island_1/application.log, when I try to invoke report from form on the server shows this :

I am from Oracle. However, this forum is not a replacement for customer support which means that we can help as good as we can. If for some reason the problem needs more attention then this is what customer support is for. Taking it from the description of your problem, I think that the best way to track down the issue is to work with a test case of your Forms and Reports module (especially because it works on one platform but doesn't on another).

FRM-41214: Unable ro run report while calling a report from a form in 9iDS

Am in the process of migrating from Developer 6i client/server to Developer 9iDS on Windows 2000.
I have read through the various postings on this issue & have made changes accordingly. I also referred to the white paper on the Forms/Reports integration.
As I am trying to do a prototype, am compiling my forms/reports on my local machine & not on the apps. server.
I installed a report server on my local machine as,

I have defined this as a NT service and it is up & running & so is my OC4J instance.
I have defined a reports object in my Form Builder & set Report Server=9irep,
Destype=Cache,
Execution mode=runtime
Communication_mode=synchronous.
I also removed the /security tag from the <report server>.conf file as suggested in the white paper. Also set the single sign-on to NO for the reports service.

PDF Report with Korean font work fine in 9iDS but not in 9iAS

I am using Oracle 9i Application Server 9.0.2.0.0, When i try to run the report using Korean font The pdf report not showing the korean font correctly.
I tried the same in 9ids , which is working properly. I have done exactly the same setting in 9ias, but it is not working.
The Oracle ias report service dialog shows version 9.0.2.0.3
My 9ias settings
NLS_LANG = AMERICAN_AMERICA.KO16KSC5601
In uifont.ali the settings are

I have checked the Smoothing display option also in Acrobat 5. The Document font is showing

As such there is no change in both the report servers , same output in win2000 and win2003. I am generating the rep from 9ids for both 9ids and 9ias, and i am using font UWKMJF which is korean charecter support, but 9ias is generating some junk charecters with spacing , 9ids is working fine.
The PDf Document font is showing
Origial font = HYSMyeongJoStd-Medium-Acro type=type1 (CID) Encoding=KSC-EUC-H
Actual font = HYSMyeongJoStd-Medium-Acro type=type1 (CID)
which is same as 9ids, but the data displaying in the pdf are not proper.
As you mentioned about the patch, which patch i have to apply. can you please also mention the patch numbers.

To BIBeans PMTeam 9i Rel2, 9iDS and BI Beans How to make it Work

If the BIBeans PMTeam can answer this or anyone else, please respond.
I downloaded Oracle 9i Rel 2, the latest version of 9iDS, installed the Bi catalog and sample schemas. Followed the tutorial, but when creating the connection to the olap server from Jdeveloper using the BI beans designer, it couldn't connect, in fact it told me something about a pointer to null.
Ok, it's this supouse to work. What could I do, check, verify to see what is wrong. I'm runnig this in a P4 machine with W2k SP2 1GB ram. the 9iDS was installed first, then I installed 9i Rel 2. Do you need any more info.

The current released version of BIBeans is 2.5, this version does not support a connection to Oracle 9i Release 2.
A second release of the BIBeans (2.7) will be available later this summer, this is currently scheduled for release around mid June 2002. This version will incorporate connectivity to 9i Release 2.
This is due to a change in OLAP Architecture and full integration of the OLAP Server into the Database. This changed the connection mechanism and thus BIBeans v2.5 only connects to Oracle 9i Release 1.

Urgent! form with webutil works with IAS but not with the 9iDS

I'm configuring a standalone PC on which i can run forms as if they were running with an IAS. Now we have a form which uses webutil. This form runs fine in our IAS-environment, but fails on the standalone PC.
On the standalone machine I'm using 9ids (9.0.2) to run this form. When the form is started I'm getting an error: FRM-40734 Internal error PL/SQL error occurred. This is caused by calls to the webutil-routines client_win_api_environment.get_windows_username and client_win_api_environment.get_computer_name
(When I comment out these calls, the form doesn't return an error)

I hope anyone can help me with this problem. I0m getting a bit desperate.....

I've tried your suggestion and the newly created form works on both environments (the standalone PC with the iDS and the "normal" evironment with an IAS). Then I added another button to this newly created form with the code "message(client_win_api_environment.Get_Windows_username);"
This also works in the new form. Then I added some debugging code to the webutil.pll and discovered that when I use the above code in the new form everything is ok, but when I use the call client_win_api_environment.Get_Windows_username the following exception is raised in the gew_windows_username-procedure: CLIENT_WIN_API.NOT_AVAILABLE
I've compared the newly created form with the original from and can't discover major differences between the two forms. Do you have another idea where to look?
I noticed I forgot to mention both forms are created with oracle designer.

PDF Report with chinese work fine in 9iDS but not in 9iAS

I use oc4j in oracle 9iDS,it can display chinese no problem through set pdf font subset.
However,when i deploy it to oracle 9i AS ,and i have set 9ias Report services according to oracle 9i DS's setting,it don't work fine with chinese in pdf report.
it's urgent ,i must deploy my application soon.who can help me?Thanks in advance!

it don't work fine with chinese in pdf report.Not sure whether you are able to generate the PDF or it has the charactres crumbled?
For me. it is definitely seems to be a configuration issue.
It is hard to help, as you haven't given enough information on your environment.
Please check your setup for the entries for uifont.ali and your fonts in REPORTS_PATH.
