Help breaking link to document

HI, I'm a newbie. Decided to "play." Yep, one of those who knows just enough to be dangerous. I uploaded a file, clicked on the file to imbed it in a website. All that appears is a large white box. I can't edit the webpage, because now the edit option is crowded out by the box. I deleted the file from my files, but the link still is trying to work. Can you please tell me how to break the link?

Say I close off all InDesign documents and set the default font for all new documents to Arial, 10pt, Regular and the [Basic Paragraph] style to Minion Pro, 12pt, Regular.
Now I open a New Document with Document Preset set to [Custom], drag out a text frame and start typing. I would be typing in the default "style" of Arial, 10pt, Regular and not the [Basic Paragraph] style of Minion Pro, 12pt, Regular. In fact, the [Basic Paragraph] knows it's being overriden by the default "style" because it now appears as [Basic Paragraph]+ (with a plus sign) in the Paragraph Styles (F11) panel.
I've put the word "style" in quotes above because setting the default "style" of Arial, 10pt, Regular by first closing off all documents does not result in any style at all in the Paragraph Styles panel. It's almost outside the realm of Paragraph Styles altogether, in a kind of Style limbo. Or, it might be described as a Paragraph Style override that has not been Redefined as a fully-fledged Paragraph Style.
So, in this case the default "style" for all new documents remains Arial, 10pt, Regular (with no actual Style for it in the Paragraph Styles panel) and the [Basic Paragraph] style remains Minion Pro, 12pt, Regular.

Hello everyone.
A while back ago I wrote a script to Brake Links to Paragraph Styles and Character Styles. That was easy since you can set to false the option "Clearing Overrides" when applying "No Paragraph Style" [0] or "None" [0]. But I cannot do such a thing with objectStyles "None" [0] even when setting the options to False. Every time the TextFrames get the ObjectStyle "None". And the GUI Palette is not showing a "+" as being modified.
It does work when using "Break Link to Style" in the GUI.
Any help would be appreciated...

I don't think that you can do this TWICE in the same second in two different documents I've done something like that in one of my script and I've added 2 second extra loop to be sure that "random" name can't be duplicated

I don't found the command break link to paragraph style from script.
I want "unapply" the style from the text, but leave the formatting intact.

In the interface it's a separate command ("Break link to style"), but it seems in a script you have to use
Paragraph.applyParagraphStyle (using:ParagraphStyle[, clearingOverrides:bool=true])
You cannot use "null" or something similar for "ParagraphStyle", so I guess the idea is to use paragraph style #0 in your document (which is always "[No Paragraph Style]"). Be sure to set "clearing Overrides" to false, as it defaults to true.
The following single line works on your current paragraph:
app.activeDocument.selection[0].paragraphs[0].applyParagraphStyle (app.activeDocument.paragraphStyles[0], false);

PDF export with link to document defaulting to "Open a web link" instead of "Open a file"

I have a MS Access database and I'm trying to export reports to PDF (I have Acrobat XI Pro) that include a hyperlink to another document on the same drive on my computer. I have tested this with hyperlinked email addresses, and emails export fine to PDF and are still functional, opening a new email in Outlook. The hyperlinks to documents work fine in MS Access, opening a Word, PDF, or other document when clicked.
When I export to PDF, the links to documents say, "This document is trying to connect to: file:" and my filepath. If I say "Allow," the link tries to open in my default web browser, which comes up blank. I've tested this on other computers in our office too. When I right-click the link, I have the option to "Open weblink as a new document" -- this opens the document successfully, but won't be very helpful or fast for our staff. When I examine the link with Tools - Add or Edit Link, I see that the link's action defaulted to "Open a web link" when the PDF was created. This seems like it should be "Open a file." To see if "Open a file" would work in theory, I tried creating a test button in a blank PDF and made the "mouse up" action "Open a file" and linked to various documents on my computer. Each time, the button does not react to being clicked at all, like nothing happened.
I also tried making a basic Word doc with just the hyperlink to another document. It works fine in Word, but, when saved as a PDF, the hyperlink does the same behavior-- tries to connect to the web instead of opening the file on the computer.
I have a lot of experience building Acrobat PDF forms and working in Acrobat, and I'm almost certain I've created links that open another file on the computer in Acrobat before, but I'm out of ideas and an internet search isn't turning up much. I welcome any suggestions for things to try. Thank you!

This is what I currently have, and it attempts to open in a web browser. Do you know of a setting in Acrobat I might need to change, or any other solution to tell Acrobat to open the "file:" URL as a document, not try to start the web browser?

Can you force a link inside a .pdf to open the "linked to" document in a new window?

When I have a link inside my .pdf document - linking to another .pdf document or to a Word document - how can I force the linked-to document to open in a new window?
I have a web site (business internal, so unfortunately I cannot point to it). My HTML menu has links to .pdf documents - no problem. However, once I open those .pdfs, they contain links to other .pdfs and to Word documents. Clicking on these links, which reside inside my .pdfs, opens the "linked-to" docs in the same page. How can I force them to open in a brand new frame?
All of my .pdfs were originally created in Word, and in the Word versions, the links DO open into new frames. I am not sure why, when I convert them to .pdfs, they lose this feature.
Can anyone help?

How can I have a topic name different than the filename of a linked Word document?

I've encountered multiple issues with linking to Word files ...here's another one: If a Word document is entitled Feature_ABC, then upon generating the HTM after linking it, the HTM's filename and topic name are both Feature_ABC. As underscores are ugly in topic names and features can be renamed, I would hope that I could rename the topic to be different than the filename.
The Help documentation suggests this is possible by editing the Topic Name Pattern in the Word Conversion Settings dialog of Project Settings. However, reagardless of the Pattern entered, every time I generate or update from the context menu of a linked Word document the topic name remains the same as the filename.
Because the topic name is shown in the Search panel and browser tabs, it will be a little ugly and may even be confusing. It is possible to edit the HTML directly, but then the HTML is overwritten each time the Word documents are update and the great advantage of using linked documents is lost.
Is there a way to solve this problem?

Please check material master - view 'Bases data 2'.
There is checkbox 'No link'. You can activate this checkbox if you are not storing any drawing/designe docuemnt for this material.
Try to do this and check out again.....

According to your description, you want to open document link in client app or browser.
You need to active the “Open Documents in Client Applications by Default” feature.
I suggest you do as the followings:
1. Open “Site Settings”->”
Site Collection Features”.
2. Active the “Open Documents in Client Applications by Default” feature.

Quick launch links to documents, can only save the document once

Hi,
We have a problem in SharePoint 2007.
We have some links to documents in the quick launch menu. First, these were opened as read-only per default.
This was fixed by adding file:// instead of the http://
Now we can save the document/excel/... once, but when clicking save a second time, office gives a non-informative error: 'The document was not saved.' with a link 'Was this information helpful?'. So it doesn't save either. This is verified, because when
I close the document after this, it asks to 'save as' to another location.
This is tested with a bunch of accounts, also DC admin accounts, which have full control over sharepoint.
When opening the documents in the library, there is no problem. It's only the links in the quick launch that don't respond as required.
Hope someone has a workaround for this.

Just use again the http:// hyperlink and reconfigure the browser settings correct!
File links are not made for use with SharePoint even the file links are not 100% supported in a web browser...

Link DMS document to Sales Order

Hello -
Currenlty, our Quality Department manually opens each applicable sales order and manually attaches a required document via the "Extras/Documents" path from within VA02 menu bar. It is extremely time consuming.
I want to know if it is possible to automatically attach a "linked document" to a sales order after it has been saved? I'd like to create/run a batch job that loops through these sales orders, and if applicable, attaches the "linked document". DMS is setup and working and the document that I need to attach is ready. I don't know where I need to put the record of this "link". I can see all of the "links" via CV03N (Object Links/Sales Document Item), but I don't know how they get there.
Any advice or link to documentation would be greatly appreciated.

I see that there is an objectlinks table which I assume is used to create the link between the document and VA02/VA03. The underlying structure for the objectlinks table is BAPI_DOC_DRAD. I'm not clear on what values I need to add to this table when calling the BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2. FM.??
Any advice on how to fill stucture BAPI_DOC_DRAD?
Also, I don't want to create any documents. The document already exists. I just want to establish a link. Can I do that without creating a document that already exists?

Link DMS Document to Report

Hello I created a PDF documentation for a report and
want to link it with a SAP report (called by transaction SA38)
I created a DMS document by transaction CV01N
created document links to report, transaction and
developement object R3TR/PROG/<report name>
and also transaction R3TR/TRAN/<transaction>
I released the document (status).
But I do not know how to make this documentation
available from selection screen of report.
Can anybody help me with this task?

Whenever you create a DIR for Example with parameters
Docuemnt Number - 100005
Document Type - DRW
Part - 000
Version - 00
You can Link this DIR with Standard SAP Object such as Material Master ( MARA ) , Vendor Master ( LFA1 ) , Customer ( KNA1) in DC10 ( Define Document Types > Define Object Links ).
In this Standard SAP Object are available that can be linked to Document Type. If the Object you desire to link to SAP DMS DIR is not available the you will have to do ABAP Developement to link your desired object to DIR in SAP DMS.

[JS CS3] JS method for Object Styles Break Link to Style

I have pages full of objects that are assigned the pesky "Basic Graphics Frame" object style. I need to do the equivalent of choosing "Break Link to Style" in the Object Styles panel on all the objects in many files.
I haven't been able to find anything equivalent to the "Break Link to Style" functionality in looking through the Object Browser. Finding all objects with [Basic Graphics Frame] object style and applying an object style of [None] doesn't do the same result. Any ideas?
