Help Disappeared

I dragged Full Text Search and it disappeared. Now I cannot see Table of Contents, Dynamic links and so on. Is it possible to restore them and get rid of dockablity? Thank you

If you ever really really loose a window like this simply delete the windowinglayout.xml file in jdev\system\oracle.ide.10.1.3.n.n
The layou will then restore to the default next time you start jdev and you should be able to get to things OK.

  • In my IPhone link with Itunes the Itunes helper disappears

I'm having a devil of a time with my IPhone automatically starting ITunes for syncing purposes. Every time I call Apple about this problem they have me reinstall ITunes. Then they have me put ITunes Helper in the Accounts section login items part. I do so, and when I plug in my IPhone it starts ITunes automatically. But the next day or later on in the day, the ITunes Helper disappears from the Login Section and when I do a spotlight search of my computer ITunes Helper cannot be found. This is a most perplexing problem. Does anyone else have this problem or does anyone have a solution? I hope so.

+and if I format my computer and install the iTunes+
Make backups of all your important stuff, not just itunes apps. If you have music in itunes, you might want to backup the ituens database file,
    iTunes Library.itl
Don't forget to deauthorize your PC before you wipe it.

My location bar, tool bar (file, edit, tools, bookmarks, help) all disappeared and cannot be restored. I have no back button, home button etc. the top of the screen is just an empty blue bar. Internet still works if I click on a hyperlink on the main page.
The problem started when I turned on the computer this morning. I tried to install Mozilla 4 from your website and that installed but I still have nothing on the top.

It may be due to Firebug. Seeing as how you're a web developer, it's very possible you have this installed. The latest version, 1.7X a10, appears to cause everything you described. I downgraded to "a8" and that seems to have fixed everything.
I also recreated a profile from scratch before trying this out, so I can't guarantee it's definitely Firebug.

  • Mac Help disappeared

My OS X Tiger Mac help has seemed to disappear! Everything else (Safari help, Mail help, etc) seems okay. In Finder, I select Mac Help, the window opens and shows the links (Whats New in Tiger) but nothing happens when I click on a link.
When I click the little house at the top of the window, a drop down list of help topics appears. All except Mac Help work.

Hi Lyle & Welcome to Apple Discussions --
The Help Viewer problem you're experiencing is a fairly common one. I've experienced it too. I don't know why it happens (and sometimes, even after it's fixed, it happens again), but I do know where to direct you so that you can fix it.
Go to the X Lab's Help Viewer Troubleshooter and follow the steps set forth there for resetting your Help Viewer.
It's worked (and continues to work) for me, hopefully it will for you too. (You'll probably want to book mark the page, so that in case the problem returns you'll have the remedy at your fingertips.)
    Good luck.

  • Mac Help disappeared - how to re-install just this

Mac Help has disappeared from our i Book. How can we re-install just the "Help" and not risk losing or corrupting everything on the hard drive?
    Thank you.

    Hi D44,
first try this: FIXED: Help Viewer crashes or shows blank window.
If this does not work, reinstall Help Viewer from the Mac OS X Update 10.4.8 Combo PPC using Pacifist. Help Viewer is located in the installer package at System/Library/Core Services.

  • Portfolio help - disappearing folders and headers.

I've noticed 3 issues that I'm having trouble with in a portfolio using Acrobate 9 Pro ver. 9.4.4
    1.  Once a portfolio is uploaded online the folders disappear.
    2.  When adding a header with an image the image will rescale back to the original size once you leave edit mode.
    3.  Header disappers when file is reopened.
    Thank you!

The header disappearing is likely a known issue, see the thread at http://forums.adobe.com/message/3491158#3491158 and see if this matches what you are seeing. In particular, note the workaround posted by Josh_Corey toward the bottom.
Regarding the other 2, please provide more information and/or screenshots. Some information that may be helpful, for example:
Image scaling (what header layout are you using, what image format, how are you scaling the image, how much you are scaling it, what accordion is expanded when you close the edit panel, etc). Did this work as expected prior to the update? The header does dynamically adjust some, so closing the edit panel may cause some shift as will resizing the portfolio window, but I wouldn't expect it to snap back to the original size.
Folders disappearing (does this happen with specific layouts, do you see the folders if you switch to list view while viewing the portfolio in the browser - the 2nd button in in the portfolio toolbar)  Did this work as expected prior to the update?

  • Good afternoon. since installing 8beta the icon for download helper disappeared from the toolbar. a previous helper had me turn off other plugins and restartr, but i lost here and still have the same problem. thanks for your assistance.

You are now chatting with Firefox community member zzxc<br />
    zzxc: Hello<br />
zzxc: Is it still in the add-ons tab/<br />
steve: hi. i dont see it. it usually is on the menu bar towards the left, at least before i did this upgrade<br />
steve: actually, i realize i dont know what an add-on tab loos like- previously it just floated between the "latest headlines" etc and the bookmark toolbar<br />
    zzxc: look in Firefox->Addons<br />
steve: i'm on an imac osX snow leopard. i see add-ons under firefox>tools>addons, but when i click on that, nothing is opening<br />
zzxc: try going to about:addons in Firefox's address bar<br />
steve: if i understand, firefox>about just tells me that im using 8.0beta. the only place i see the word add-ons is under tools. unless im unclear about where you mean by firefox's address bar, which i'm thinking means the bar with my own bookmarks menu. the bar with the URL- i don't see anything on that like you describe.<br />
zzxc: ok - when you try to go to tools->addons, nothing happens?<br />
steve: it didnt my first 3 tries, and it opened a page which says: about:addons in the URL spot, and "add-ons manager" in the tab<br />
steve: just now opened that page<br />
    steve: forgive my typing<br />
zzxc: ok - in there, look in Extensions. is downloadhelper enabled there?<br />
zzxc: (click it - you should see a disable button if it's enabled)<br />
steve: i assume it is enabled because the button there reads: disable"<br />
steve: btw, the i-click youtubedownloader and SpeakingFox say they’re incompatible with 8.0.<br />
zzxc: so it seems to be enabled<br />
zzxc: right click the toolbar and go to customize<br />
zzxc: see if the downloadhelper button is in the customize window<br />
steve: it's not there. the only addon there i recognize is Zotero<br />
zzxc: Do you see the downloadhelper logo on youtube video pages, to the left of the video title?<br />
zzxc: eg. look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpzUCA5i6zY<br />
zzxc: try with just downloadhelper enabled and no other add-ons enabled<br />
zzxc: other add-ons could be interfering with downloadhelper<br />
steve: ok i'll try that now- since the downloadhelper logo wasnt on the youtube page<br />
steve: ok. i disabled all except downloadhelper<br />
steve: but no downloadhelper logo appears anywhere on the toolbars or anywhere above<br />
zzxc: is there an error in Error Console about it?<br />
    zzxc: command+shift+J on a mac<br />
steve: when i clicked on the errors tab, the window under it was blank<br />
zzxc: In Firefox, open the Firefox->Help menu and choose Troubleshooting Information. On the page that opens, click Copy all to clipboard. Finally, paste the clipboard into this chat by using CTRL+V. (You can also paste by right clicking and pressing paste)<br />
    steve: ok thanks brb<br />
steve: hi zz. i clicked on COPY TO CLIPBD but it didnt do anything i could see. (is the clipboard something i find somewhere else? i am able to cut n paste that entire page if you want.<br />
    zzxc: press CTRL+V in this chat<br />
zzxc: that should paste it here.

  • Help, my Help disappeared, how do I get it back

Since installing Tiger and updating, everything seemed fine, but I have now noticed my Mac help (in Finder is gone). Help! My keyboard is typing some alternate characters, for instance my apostrophe key is now è, and my question mark key is now é, and I cannot look up in Help how to fix this!

Thank you. I knew about the alternate keyboards, but couldn't remember how to fix it, and with my help broken couldn't look it up. Luckily my son remembered how to change the keyboard; but oddly even when I fixed it, it kept changing back to the Canadian French keyboard (which has these alternate characters) right in the middle of typing an email! Some bug there. I have worked around it by disabling for now, the Canadian French keyboard - I can always turn it back on when I need it.
For the lost help, I called apple care before you posted your help. The link you gave was also good, but they walked me through the fix, and I only needed to delete one file. Here is what worked for me:
If Mac help is bringing up a blank screen that doesn't work (you can't search for help), you fix it by deleting the file "com.apple.helpui" and then restarting your computer.
    Here is what you do:
Find the file you need to delete by opening a finder window, and choosing column view. Then click your home (picture of a little house with your name beside it), and in the first column click the folder Library, then inside it (will show in the next column) click Caches, then inside it (will show in the next column) click the file com.apple.helpui and drag it the trash in your Dock. Then restart. Help will be back!!

  • PLEASE HELP DISAPPEARING DATA ON ITUNES AND MAC

Last night i synced my mum's iphone on my laptop to update to the new OS 4.2 - It took about 40 minutes to back up then restored and reset.
After this is said restore from back up .... with a list.
The list didn't contain my mums backup only my previous backups on my account and my mums apple account no longer exists not only in itunes but all together.
I have been through the hard drive on my back and there is no data anywhere which shows the time and backup of my mums iphone.
The iphone is completely wiped and the apple account no longer exists, can someone help me and tell me if there is a way i can get the data back? i have used the iphone back up extractor and it isn't there - it must be somewhere as it took forever to backup.
Thanks and i hope this can be fixed as she is so upset !!! and the worst of

    You need to not just
    i find
your PC music, but also get it back into the iTunes Library. As long as all the songs are in your iTunes, then when you sync the iPod, it will not erase any songs on it.
Also see: How to keep iTunes from automatically updating your iPod
    Another Easier Alternative:
While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys in Windows (CMD + Option keys on a Mac). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes. The iPod will then appear in the iTunes source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto-sync and then you can release the keys. This action may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
You can then ‘right-click‘ on the iPod icon in iTunes’ source column and select iPod Options, then check the box that says “Manually manage songs and playlists”. You can now manage your library without losing any songs on the iPod.

  • Help disappeared from Photoshop and othe updated CS2 components

After a while I needed to do a project on InDesign and Photoshop, both part of CS2. They are updated.
None of udated CS2 components show Help. Message suggests reinstall of software.

Then reinstall the software. IIRC, there were problems associated with CS2 stuff and the update. Check Adobe's website, especially http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/332657.html.

  • Forms Online help disappeared

Previously (at least until last week) the Forms Online Help was available here:
    http://www.oracle.com/webapps/online-help/forms/10g/state?navSetId=_&navId=0
but this link results in a 404.
It would be the same as the one shipped with Forms Builder, but it's a little bit hard to post links to my local online help when I want to suggest to use a documented builtin...
Could someone please restore the documentation or at least update the announcement here with the URL where the documentation is located now?
    cheers

It might have to do with SSL/SSO implementation they put into production recently. Since the forums are on SSL and the new fancy login screen got added the whole forum seems to behave quite unstable. I get the "We are sorry blah blah blah" screen almost every second time I click on a link here in the forums. Hopefully they didn't vaporize the docs permanently as it was a good resource to point to....
    cheers

  • Help disappearing song on iTunes!!!

Help! I brought a song on my iPod and the song downloaded fine but a week later the song was gone plz help!

Nobody replied here, but I found the answer from slapphappe, so I wanted to post it here in case anyone else has had this question:
    http://slapphappe.wordpress.com/2008/11/11/how-to-recover-an-itunes-playlist/
The gist of it is to create a new on-the-go playlist on your iPhone, then select the entire playlist that was deleted on Itunes (but still resides on your iPhone) so that you re-create that playlist.
Hope this helps someone else. I'm very grateful to slapphappe for posting that and to have recovered my playlist!

  • The "File Edit View Window Help" menu disappears after opening Adobe Acrobat X Standard

After installing Adobe Acrobat X Standard, when I run the program the "File Edit View Window Help" menu is visible for only a brief second then disappears.  I tried to press F11 or other functions keys to bring it back.  I also installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro which I also have a license for and it would do the exact same thing. Reinstalling the programs did not seem to resolve the problem.  Is there an issue inside the registry?

Thank you for your comment.  However, F9 does not seem to work.
When I press F9, the menu bar appears but the words "File Edit View Window Help" are still missing.
When I press F9 again the menu bar will close.
This is a screen capture before the words "File Edit View Window Help" disappear.  After only about a second they are gone.

  • Photos in iPhoto disappeared

My photos in iPhoto have disappeared.  When attempting to open iPhoto, I get the message to choose a Library.  There is no library to choose.  How do I get my photos back?

Download and use  Find Any File  to search for "Library6.iPhoto".  FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't, like invisible folders, packages, etc.  If you find such a file you can locate where your library is from the search results window.
First look in your Pictures folder and see if it's there.  That's the default location unless you moved it to an external hard drive previously.  If it was on an exteranl hard drive read this: Photo Library Manager Help - Disappearing iPhoto libraries on external drives
