my friend accidetaly delleted alot of my documants...is there a way you can check for recently deleted items or somthing?....is there any way i can find them or are the gone foreeverrrrrr?

Do you not have a recent backup? If not, then stop using the computer immediately. The longer you use the computer, the more likely that the "free space" left behind by a deleted document will be filled-in by a new file and it will truly be lost. Mac OS X makes quite a few temporary files, so even if you don't save new documents, the deleted files could be lost. (A Safari cache file, for example.)
There are a couple of utilities that may be able to help you. However, I have not had very much luck recovering deleted files. Data Rescue II is one option.

Map.xml and context-sensitive help question

We're changing the tools we use to generate JavaHelp from RoboHelp to WebWorks.
RoboHelp's output always includes a file named map.xml. WebWorks doesn't include this file.
My understanding is that map.xml is what applications use to find the correct context-sensitive topic. Is that right? Will the app be able to find context-sensitive files without it?

For the 'main portal page' bit - maybe the developer wants to know the Start Page of the project, rather than the Default Topic? I'm not very familiar with CSH and webhelp, so I'm uncertain of the details the developer needs, but I wouldn't think you'd have to change anything as long as they have all the necessary details.

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a (too) high value can cause issues.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.

It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with overlapping text.

Help question re: Image formatting

Quick question, possibly very newbie'ish for most, but quite
frustrating for me.
I am working with the trial version of Dreamweaver, and I'm
trying to figure out how to format a picture to do something aking
to the "Send behind text" in Microsoft Word, trying to take a bunch
of pictures, and place them in the background, behind the tables
I'm using to build the webpage.
If it is possible for Dreamweaver, I have not been able to
find it in the help topics. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks a
lot!

Specify the image as the background image of the table or
table cell you are
working on. Use the Property inspector for this. Or use CSS
for it.

Need QT help/ questions

I've been using macs for a while, but need some help with qt7pro. These are really basic questions I'm sure, but I haven't used QT in a long time, other than watching a trailer or clicking on something a friend has sent.
Whenever I try to open a QT mov, or doc, iTunes opens to play whatever trailer, slideshow, etc. is this a settings problem for me or is QT no longer a stand alone app?
I have installed the QT Pro 7 key, but QT player opens.
Often when I click on someone else's posted QT link, I get a page in my browser - Safari, CAmino, with the QT Q with a ?.
It seems like in QT6, I always had the independent QT app launch, and I haven't seen that with QT7.

Many of the new trailers and the new iPod (.m4v) format are designed to use iTunes instead of the QuickTime Player.
If the file is on your computer you can use the Get Info window to change the default "Open With" app. If you Control-Click (right click) on the file you can choose QuickTime from the Open With pop-up menu.

Premiere Elements - Organizer Help/Question.

I have another posting out here but maybe I am not being clear enough so I will pose the question another way.
I have a .mp4 file which contains 60 short pieces (happens to be football highlights) all strung together as one contiguous video.
What I am simply trying to do is to break it down for making a handful of highlight videos, each with a different angle. (ex Offense, Defense, Rushing, Passing, etc)
This is the basic outline of how I logically see it happening. Problem is that I am can't figure out step 2:
1) Cut it down into 60 individual videos (which I did and currently have in my project) using the Split/Clip functions of Elements.
2) Save the pieces off as individual video clips so that they can be rated/ranked/categorized in Organizer.
3) Polish/edit the individual pieces.
4) Organize and assemble the various videos using the clips.
For the life of me I can't get
a) Elements to allow me to save of my projects as individual clips.
and
b) Get the Organizer to allow me to bring my clips in.
I am using PE 11.
Does this make sense? Does anyone have any insight to offer?

Ok, sounds good.
I will just have to squirrel away copies of my project then build my different flavors the hard way.
I may be look at other tools before I resort to that. I just hate to go through the headache of breaking it all down again but in the long haul could be worth it.
This just seems like the hard way to go about this task but then again I am a software guy and think in terms of reusable components. Maybe that mentality just doesnt work for video.

How can I directly get an anwser to a help question?

I work in an IT service desk where providing solutions to user problems is a high priority.
I have been trying to get an answer to a simple question about Adobe premier but getting very frustrated as the only method of assistance offered is via this forum.
I go to the Adobe help pages, follow the links about the query and it comes up with the recommendation to use the forum - OK, done that. half a day of wasted time and not a single response. The web page also shows that I can use chat or phone. However when I click to find out more about the options it just takes me back in the circle of asking what the question is about and kicking me back to the forum.
My organisation has just invested heavily in CC tertiary site licenses and the setup of these in a University lab situation is a bit different so the normal help files aren't much use. relying on a forum for support is a cop out, and not the least bit helpful. Is there an e-mail address for Adobe where I can get a direct reply to my queries?

I have an ms 3678 ver 3 mobo and just ordered an athlon 2400 thouroughbred for a cpu upgrade. can anyone help me with some questions.
1)do i need to flash my bios and if yes how do i do it?--details please
2)what is the proper procedure for appling the thermal paste?
3)Is there anything else i should be aware of in your opinion?
4)Is 300watt power supply enough power for the new chip?

ok, i have went through the flashing the non fat file system and it doesn't seem that bad but this brings up yet more questions. is it ok to flash the bios before i install the new cpu. such as getting the computer ready to accept the new cpu and when it comes in from the mail, then i can just install the new cpu, and i am good to go. or should i wait until i install the new cpu to flash the bios? also i am confused about the boot disks, are these the same as having the win xp pro os cd. so, say instead of using the boot disks, i just use the cd with xp pro on it. is it the same thing? if not then i will just download the boot disk.
after all that, is putting in this new cpu saying that i need to reinstall windows again. is putting in this new cpu like having to start over from square one again. or are the boot disks just a program that will aid me in flashing the bios.
sorry for all the confusion but i am just trying to understand everything that is involved.

tech told me there might be a "plug in" software by a 3rdd party company that would make my msn msgr work...
...brand new I-Mac I cant isntant msg people...that is hard pillow to swallow

Since Messenger is not an Apple product, you'll get better response if you use a forum dedicated to Microsoft's Mac products such as <http://groups.google.com/groups/dir?sel=33607053> rather than an Apple forum, as they only provide support for Apple products.

F4 value help question

Hi,
because we don't have a submit button is there a way that after selecting a value help an event will be triggered so we can refresh the screen.
At the moment after the user had selected a value and the value is transfered to the input field he have to put the cursor into the input field und make an enter
to trigger the onEnter-event.
That's not comfortable and the user don't know that he has to do this. The screen should be refreshed automatically after selecting an value help.
Do somebody have any idea?

Write the code in Wddomodify but with a Condition and a counter.
Condtion : Your input field is not intial ( input field has some value ).
Counter : So that this code is fired only once and that too when ever you want.
Make an attribute Att in component controller.
Att = 'Y' by default.
For this write in WDdoinit of comp controller : wd_this->Att = 'Y'.
in Wddomodify :
If input_field is not initial and wd_comp_controller->Att = 'Y' .
<Run your code>
wd_comp_controller->Att = 'N'.
endif.

Report help / question

I want to pull a specific report. either from the p6 tool reporting or directly from the database.
Using Primavera p6 version 7.
All the Role names and capacity / demand time for each role over a timespan where the role is assigned to an activity, and the activity project, grouped by project.

I check TRSRCSUM and it appears that the spread data is saved in a field called spread_data. It appears to be some type of pipe delimited data.
At this point if I had this problem, I would use the spread services -- ReadPorjectRoleSpread operation via either the integration or web services to get role spread information.
To use the raw information in the TRSRCSUM, you will need to figure out how to the spread the total_qty based on your selected window of dates against each of the assignments for activities that falls within you requested window.
I took a crack at a simple spread based on calculating a multiplier for the target_qty base on the number of days within a given requested selection window for each of the assignments that fall within the window.
Best guess, not sure it is completely correct and not pretty (the target window is in year 2009 because my P6V7 database is an old PUBDB demo database).
So in this example, I am looking for a 19 day window for roles on activities that fall in that window and then using the calculated multiplier to scale the total_qty base for the given window.
Again not sure if this is completely correct and I would recommend using the API spread service which will give you the correct answer but it was an interesting problem to look at.

I had the same requirement and so I used Dictionary search help.
In this you have to attach dictionary search help as inpute mode for paricular
context node.
e.g. If you want to attach a F4 help for vendor number, then goto attribute of that particular node and search for your attribute. Now click on vendor and change the properties of the same attribute as input help mode will be changed as
'Dictionary search help' and put your own created search help name in the
'Dictionary search help' tab. Also you can use standard search help name if you know as 'Dictionary search help '.
Also there is another way to handle the same.

Help viewer is very slow - 'Mac Help' questions never answer

Does the Help function not work in OS 10.4.4? I can only get answers in some 3rd party applictions but not Mac Help.
