Help!! How to accept numeric input characters only

How do I incorporate my isInputStringNumeric(String s) into my while loop; I am having a problem with this specific area.
System.out.println("Enter Input Currency Value:");
System.out.println("Select currency: ");
public static boolean isInputStringNumeric(String s)
//looping structure to check from the first character to the last of the value entered
int stringSize = s.length();
for (int i = 0; i < stringSize; i++)
boolean check = Character.isDigit(s.charAt(i));
if (!check)
return false;//if any characters at each position of the string's length is not a digit
return true;//if any characters at each position of the string's length is a digit
}//end of isInputStringNumeric function
float inputCurrencyValue = float.parseFloat( inputString() );
//Error message if a user enter a non-digit
while (inputCurrencyValue = (inputString()) != null)
if( isInputStringNumeric(inputString()) == false )
System.out.println("Invalid Characters entered");
System.out.println("Please enter a numerical value");
inputCurrencyValue = ( inputString() );

Replace your isInputStringNumeric method with this regular expression that checks the string for characters 0-9. If s contains anything else (or nothing!), false is returned.
Here's some code to test with.
import java.util.regex.*;
public class Junk1 {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        String s = "12345";
        if (Pattern.matches("\\d+", s)) {
            System.out.println("Is a number");
        } else {
            System.out.println("No input or not a number");

  • How to accept user inputs from  sql script

    I want to create Tablespace useing sql script , but the location of the data file I need accept from user . (to get the location of the data file ) .
    How can I accept user input from pl/sql .
    Example :
      CREATE TABLESPACE  TSPACE_INDIA LOGGING
         DATAFILE 'H:\ORACLE_DATA\FRSDB\TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf'
         SIZE 500M  AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT  1280K MAXSIZE UNLIMITED
         EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL;here I need to accept location of the datafile from user ie : 'H:\ORACLE_DATA\FRSDB\TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf'

    Hi,
    Whenenever you write dynamic SQL, put the SQL text into a variable. During development, display the variable instead of executing it. If it looks okay, then you can try executing it in addition to displaying it. When you're finished testing, then you can comment out or delete the display.
    For example:
    SET     SERVEROUTPUT     ON
    DECLARE
        flocation     VARCHAR2 (300);
        sql_txt     VARCHAR2 (1000);
    BEGIN
        SELECT  '&Enter_The_Path'
        INTO    flocation
        FROM    dual;
        sql_txt :=  'CREATE TABLESPACE SRC_TSPACE_INDIA LOGGING
         DATAFILE' || flocation || ' "\SRC_TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf" ' || '
         SIZE 500M  AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT  1280K MAXSIZE UNLIMITED
         EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL ';
        dbms_output.put_line (sql_txt || ' = sql_txt');
    --  EXECUTE IMMEDIATE sql_txt;
    END;
    /When you run it, you'll see something like this:
    Enter value for enter_the_path: c:\d\fubar
    old   5:     SELECT  '&Enter_The_Path'
    new   5:     SELECT  'c:\d\fubar'
    CREATE TABLESPACE SRC_TSPACE_INDIA LOGGING
         DATAFILEc:\d\fubar
    "\SRC_TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf"
         SIZE 500M  AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT  1280K MAXSIZE
    UNLIMITED
         EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL  = sql_txt
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.This makes it easy to see that you're missing a space after the keyword DATAFILE. There are other errrors, too. For example, the path name has to be inside the quotes with the file name, without a line-feed between them, and the quotes should be single-quotes, not double-quotes.
    Is there some reason why you're using PL/SQL? In SQL, you can just say:
    CREATE TABLESPACE SRC_TSPACE_INDIA LOGGING
    DATAFILE  '&Enter_The_Path\SRC_TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf'
    SIZE 500M  AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT  1280K MAXSIZE UNLIMITED
    EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL;though I would use an ACCEPT command to given a better prompt.
    Given that you want to use PL/SQL, you could assign the value above to sql_txt. If you need a separate PL/SQL variable for flocation, then you can assign it without using dual, for example:
    DECLARE
        flocation     VARCHAR2 (300)     := '&Enter_The_Path';The dual table isn't needed very much in PL/SQL.

  • (Need Help) How to create Numeric text box in SVG

    Hello everyone,
    Can any one help me to create Numeric TextField in SVG? I'm struggling to do this please someone help me as soon as possible....
    Thanks In advance,
    Ulaga

    To get the best answers, I think you probably need to break down your post into several different one with a separate question in each, along with the business problem you are trying to solve... but here's a few pointers for you to research...
    Textbox - there's plenty of info in SDN on creating a custom control with a textbox e.g. Re: Text Editor on modulepool Screen and sample code in SAP too.
    Attachments - If this is for an email, then GUI_UPLOAD might help and the BCS class is the newer way to send messages... check out Re: Offline Approval: RBBP_NOTIFICATION_OFFAPP Vs RSWUWFMLEC for example... if this is an attachment for an SAP object such as an FI Document or Purchase Order, then the Generic Object Services (GOS) could be what you want e.g. https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/0e6b0d95-0a01-0010-4696-ca0a48de5fb3

  • How do I convert inputted characters into Uppercase in JDeveloper 11.1.2?

    Hi Everyone:
    Back in 2007 when we were trying to figure this out, Steven Davelaar gave me the solution to use the Custom Properties as found here in this post.....
    Can I convert data inputted to Uppercase by using a EO/VO domain?
    It has been working for us excellently. I have been playing around in JDeveloper 11.1.2 and trying to implement the same thing in our reusable business components .jar file, but they have changed the Custom Properties so much, I am not sure what to do. I cannot seem to type in "Uppercase" in the Property section, and then "true" in the value section with the add dialogue box that is now supplied. I appears that the Custom Properties code is going into the ModelBundle file as opposed to the .xml file.
    Is there a way to do this in JDev 11.1.2? Yes, I know you could tell me to post this to the JDev forum, but in the last 2 weeks I have had 2 carefully researched threads in that forum and have gotten NO useful replies even after bringing them to the front of the forum several times. Frustrating waste of my time.
    I am hoping since Steven knew how to do this before, that he will possibly know how to do it again.
    Do I have to manually edit the XML file? Is this even possible in 11.1.2?
    Thank you so much in advance.

    Hi All:
    I have figured out my problem. When in the new 11.1.2 Custom Properties tab of an attribute, an individual must click on the arrow next to the "+" sign and choose "Non-translatable Property". This then fills in the Property column with the word "Property" and the Value column with the word "Value".
    The trick is to double click on the word Property which makes it editable and add "Uppercase", and double click on the word Value replacing it with "true" in order to translate to uppercase as described in the above mentioned post.
    I hope that is helpful to someone.

  • Need help: How to key in input array, save in a buffer, and extract them later?

    Hi, I need help. I have several groups of data for input, and need to use them later in the same or different code. When I key in the input data, the code will ask the number of data group first, then in each group, there will be 6 data to key in, each has a specific variable name. The number of group and the data for each group will vary at each time running the code. The data group needs to be numbered sequently. After having all groups of data, these data will be sent to another sub VI to read. This sub VI needs to know each group number and each data of a group.
    I think I should create a 2-D array to read these data in a do loop, but I can't let my do loop read data in each time. Then when I sent the data out, the next sub VI was confused by the sequence of the data group and the sequence of data in each group. Can someone help me or give me some example how to do it? Thank you very much for your help.

    From what I understand of your explanation, an event structure might be
    the way to go (LV 6+ I think).  Events could be based off of
    keypresses in a particular control (a 2D array like you mentioned), and
    once input in that particular field is complete, the user presses say
    the 'enter' key, and you can use the "VKey" of the event data node to
    determine which key is pressed (i.e. VKey = enter?).  From there,
    you would continue to the next portion of data entry or processing of
    entered information.
    Hope this helps.

  • SQL LOGIC - How to accept USER input and use that data in SQL Logic?

    Hello Experts
    Can anyone of you please explain in detail how to acheive the above task am a begginner, it would be great help for me.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
    You mean to say, you need to use inputs from Data manager Prompts in your Script Logic.
    From Help File
    You can use the EvDTSModifyPkg task to dynamically pass a text string to logic in Data Manager.  For example, a user who wishes to dynamically pass a text string representing a year (which is a portion of the *XDIM_MEMBERSET instruction) could use the following steps:
    Using the EvDTSModifyPkg task, prompt for the year, i.e., PROMPT(TEXT,%TEXT%,"select a year")
    Pass the returned %TEXT% to the FormulaScript of the RunLogic task as follows: TASK(RUNLOGIC,FORMULASCRIPT,"*FUNCTION MYYEAR=%TEXT%u201D)
    In the Data Manager logic, use the dynamically created function as follows: *XDIM_MEMBERSET TIME=MYYEAR.INPUT.
    The logic name in the RunLogic task must be specified with the .LGF extension to enforce its validation at run time.
    BPC NW 2.0 Version Works differently.
    Hope this Helps,
    Kranthi

  • About limit the input characters in string with xcontrol

    Hi there,
      I follow one example online to deveope a xcontrol for string input but limiting the input characters only to uppercase A to Z. I have the main code shown as follow
    In the Key down event, I discard all input character with ascii code beyond [65, 90]. This seems to works but if I keep pressing down a forbidden key (e.g. %), it will show that key in the control. So how can I ban the input by long press on one key? Thanks.
    Solved!

    Hi dragondriver,
    and while you're editing your VI you should use an InRangeAndCoerce function to replace two comparisons and a boolean function!
    You might even think about using "LexicalClass", but that requires additional comparisons too...

  • Accepting user input and executing a PL/SQL block using it

    Hi All,
    I am working on a requirement wherein I have to accept values from the user for the various arguments to be supplied to a PL/SQL block and then execute it using these values. For now, I am using the following logic:
    PROMPT Enter value for the Category
    ACCEPT cCategory CHAR PROMPT 'Category:'
    DECLARE
    cCategry CHAR(1) := '&cCategory';
    BEGIN
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('The value of the Category as entered by you is' || cCategory);
    END;
    PROMPT Press y if you want to proceed with the current values, or press n if you want to re-enter the values
    ACCEPT cChoice CHAR Prompt 'Enter y or n:'
    DECLARE
    cCategry CHAR(1) := '&cCategory';
    sErrorCd VARCHAR2(256);
    sErrorDsc VARCHAR2(256);
    BEGIN
    IF '&cChoice' = 'y'
    THEN
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Starting with the process to execute the stored proc');
    --- schema1.package1.sp1(cCategry, sErrorCd, sErrorDsc);
    --- DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Error Code :' || sErrorCd);
    --- DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(' Error Description :' || sErrorDsc);
    ELSIF '&cChoice' = 'n'
    THEN
    Now I want that the proc again start executing in the loop from the 1st line i.e. PROMPT Enter value for the Category. However i see that this is not possible to do that PROMPT statements and accepting user inputs execute only on the SQL prompt and not inside a PL/SQL block.
    Is there an alternate method to establish this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    You can write a genric procedure to achive the desired output. Pass 'Y' or 'N' in the procedure.
    Call that procedure in simple pl/sql block during runtime using substituton operator.
    For ex
    create or replace procedure p1(category_in in varchar2)
    IS
    BEGIN
    if (category_in='Y')
    then
    prcdr1()
    /** Write your logic here ***/
    elsif(category_in='N') then
    prcdr2()
    /** write your logic here***/
    end if;
    exception
    /***write the exception logic ***/
    end p1;
    Begin
    p1('&cat');
    end;Regards,

  • On IPad3, setting up form to enter alpha information only on a sheet. Form only seems to accept numeric data. How do I get it to work?

    I am setting up a numbers ledger to catagorize and keep information on documents.  Trying to set up a form to enter data, but forms only seem to accept numeric data--in that the numeric key pad pops up automatically and there is no way to change it to the alpha keypad.  I have tried various ways of setting up the sheet, thinking this may change the way the form will accept data, without success.
    Further description:  Sheet one, all columns and rows have alpha information, such as "Name of Document", "Sub-Titles in Document", "Headings" in document.  My attempt is to create using Numbers, a library program allowing me to enter and search the beforementioned.  It works, I have been entering the data row by row, but want to create a form that will make data entry easier.

    Thanks to bwfromspring hill for answering this question for me by way of another question on another topic.  It is working now.  I had set up the form before I had finished the sheet.  By deleting the form, selecting the sheet, then clicking + and "create new form", then selecting the sheet name, the form now enters alph data just like the sheet was set up to do.  I did have to go to the paint brush, select tables and make sure that "table name--on" was selected so the form was linked to the sheet.

  • HOW to Restrict the input Help for 0MATERIAL in the BPS Layout

    Hi,
    I have requirement to Restrict the input Help for 0MATERIAL  in the BPS Layout.
    For Example if the Planning Package is Restricted to SALES ORGANISATION ( 3000 )  then the system shuold  check the 0MAT_SALES  where SALES ORGANISATION IS "3000" )AND PASS THE Material Numbers to the 0material list.
    I have Copied the standard Funtcion group  "UPF_VARIABLE_USER_EXIT"  to Z fucttion and have attached to Z Variabe as User Exit .
    this Variable is  Attached to 0material in the Planning Pakage. So tha now the 0MATERIAL is restricted to the variable which is having the User Exit.
    But how to acces the Values of Planning Package for which the Layout is bein Executed from this Z User Exit ???
    I Know how to restrict the input help, but my only problem is that how to get the values of Planning package through this User Exit.
    Please suggest if it is possible.
    Regards,
    Nilesh Labde

    Hi Nilesh,
    As I understand from your question,you know how to restrict but the issue is to know the value in the package with which you need to restrict.
    There are two tables which can help you finding the value used in package for sales organisation:
    1. UPC_PACKAGE
    2. UPC_OPTIOS
    How to use ?
    From UPC Package you will get one GUID, Hit the second table UPC_OPTIOS with this GUID.
    In field "FIELDNAME" enter the name of the characteristic whose value is req (sales organisation in your case)
    Hope this helps you

  • Regular Expression Numeric characters only

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to select just the numeric characters only. However, this regexpression returns data that also has a - in it or alpha characters, such as 58-69-30-008 NWSE. I don't want this.
    I just want rows with ONLY numeric data.
    WHERE servloc like '%[0-9]%'Thanks for your help,
    John

    LPS wrote:
    try this
    where regexp_like(servloc,'[0-9]');The above will return any servloc that has at least one digit. OP asked for "just the numeric characters only". Correct regexp_like would be:
    where regexp_like(servloc,'^[0-9]+$');Or:
    where regexp_like(servloc,'^\d+$');SY.
