Help - How to colour columns in interactive reports
Hi,
How do I colour columns in an interactive report ?
I have created a solution to help student explore the many thousands of courses in the UK - with the results showing in an interactive report:
https://production001-demandanalysis.db.em1.oraclecloudapps.com/apex/f?p=20300118:1
(To get to results, interactive report, click a subject and then pick a subject from the course cloud.)
What I want to achieve is the colouring of the columns - as currently shown - but programatically - without the user being able to see all the highlights I had to enter to achieve this.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Steve
Apex version 4.2.2
U can change the sql code for report in following way to color column.
select
AFFIRMATION_STATUS as AFFIRMATION_STATUS ,
AFFIRMATION_DATE as AFFIRMATION_DATE,
case when AFFIRMATION_STATUS = 'Affirmed' then 'green'
when AFFIRMATION_STATUS = 'Rejected' then 'red'
end the_color
from MAIN_INTERFACE
so it will generate a report with three columns viz affirmation_status and affirmation_date and the_color . Now open the_color column in report attribute tab.In column formating put "<span style="color:#THE_COLOR#;font-weight:bold;">#AFFIRMATION_DATE#</span>". If value of affirmation_status is affirmed then affirmation_date's value will come in greeen color. If its rejected , it will come in red color.

Need to fix the width of a column in interactive report
Hi,
I have a column named 'Comment'. Its have a huge data due to which the lenght of that column in interactive report get increased. I need to fix the length to a desired value.
I used following code in Region Footer:
<style>
table.apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td[headers=COMMENTS] {
_width: 300px;
min-width: 50px;
max-width: 300px }
</style>
Its solved the problem by fixing the width of the column but the column is not showing the full data now. It is hiding most of its part to fit it in that column.
Please give some idea.
Thanks,
ChandruHi,
I believe you will want to add a height specification to allow for multiple lines. And you may want/need to specifiy how you want lines to wrap.
Add (for example):
height: 60px;
white-space: nowrap;
word-wrap: break-word;
There are defaults and several options for white-space and word-wrap. You may want to look them up and give them a try for comparison.

How to make a column in interactive report dropdown box
Hi Friends,
In simple reports we are having one option to make a column as a dropdown box.Is there any such option in
interactive reports.Please help,
Thanks,
NavHi Nav,
You can create a lov using the APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST in report query. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/apirefs.32/e13369/apex_item.htm#insertedID12

How to display data in interactive report column without colons (:)
Dear Apex gurus,
I'm a newbie and have just created an Apex application from a spreadsheet. I've created a named list of values and used it in a checkbox against a field in the default page 3 Create form.
When I've selected multiple values in my check box in the form, the data in the interactive report appears as one line with colons separating the selected values like this: Dog:Cat:Bird
What I would like is to have the data appear in the interactive report column as a multi-line list like this:
Dog
Cat
Bird
I can work around this by modifying the SQL code in the Region Source of the Region Definition of the report (Default Page 1 interactive report) to replace the colons with <br>
SELECT replace("PETS_CHOSEN",':','<br>') "PETS_CHOSEN", FROM "MYAPP" Note: this doesn't format properly in the posting. I replace the colon with a html br
This works, but seems to be a hack to me. I am guessing that I've missed a simple option setting somewhere, but I can't find it.
The other problem with this solution is that when I export the report to Excel, what is exported is Dog<br>Cat<br>Bird, which is seems worse than colons.
Thanks,
- Morgan
Edited by: mnrussel on 16-Feb-2009 04:13Hi Morgan,
I think you have at least two choices:
1 - Replace the colons with ', ' (comma and space) - sort of reasonable on screen and in an export
2 - Create a second page that has the same report but uses the "export: csv" template. Create a manual link to this page to replace the standard Export link. When such report pages are requested, they download immediately instead of displaying. You can, therefore, use commas in this one and <br> tags in the on-screen report version
Andy
ps - To display tags in a post, use &lt; for < and &gt; for > -
How to make new column of Interactive Report permanent
Hi,
after changing the query of an interactive report (adding a new column) you have to add the column from the Actions Menu -> Select Columns function of the report.
But this change isn't permanent. After i logout and login again, or a user goes to the specified report, the column isn't visible.
Is it possible to make this permanent, because the only solution i have found it to recreate the report, which is not a good idea.
Thank you.
Teo
Edited by: temm on Sep 14, 2011 11:21 AMHi,
Login to Apex builder. Run page where you have IR.
Select columns you like display. Then from action menu save report default layout.

Row Selector column on Interactive Report
Hi all,
I have an interactive report based on a custom SQL query. How do I add a row selctor column so I cans select individual rows? I have also tried using a tabular form which also does not display a row selctor column. This is odd as my other tabular forms display a row selctor column.
Many thanks for you help,
ChrisChris,
Usually when someone wants a row selector, it's to choose a few rows by clicking a checkbox, then doing something with them. I'm guessing that's what you're looking for?
Martin Giffy D'Souza's [blog post|http://apex-smb.blogspot.com/2009/01/apex-report-with-checkboxes-advanced.html] explains one way to do that which should work for you. I haven't tried, it, but it looks pretty comprehensive.
Good luck,

Display BLOB (image) column in (interactive) report
Hi,
I have a field called "picture" in my table "details" which is of type BLOB. i also have a field for "MIMETYPE" and "filename"
i additionally have a "name" and "description" columns which i need to display along with the picture as columns in a report (preferably interactive).
i have also modified the BLOB display format as per
http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/db/apex/r31/apex31nf/apex31blob.htm
what i am missing is the correct query. if possible, i would like to control the size of the picture rendered within the report like say 40*50.
I have also referred to the thread
APEX 3.1 Display BLOB Image
But i don't know how to place the
dbms_lob.getlength("BLOB_CONTENT") as "BLOB_CONTENT"
in my query.
The above also makes the report column as of type "number". is this expected?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
RamakrishnanYou haven't actually said what the problem is?

if possible, i would like to control the size of the picture rendered within the report like say 40*50.For images close to this size it's easy to do this for declarative BLOB images in interactive reports using CSS. Add a style sheet with:
.apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td[headers="PICTURE"] img {
display: block;
width: 40px;
border: 1px solid #999;
padding: 4px;
background: #f6f6f6;
}where the <tt>PICTURE</tt> value in the attribute selector is the table header ID of the image column. Setting only one dimension (in this case the width) scales the image with the correct aspect ratio. (The border, padding and background properties are just eye candy...)
However, scaling large images in the browser this way is a huge waste of bandwidth and produces poorer quality images than creating proper scaled down versions using image tools. For improved performance and image quality, and where you require image-specific scaling you can use the database ORDImage object to produce thumbnail and preview versions automatically, as described in this blog post. -
How to set different default interactive reports for different user groups?
I'm probably overlooking an obvious solution, but how do I set different default interactive report for different user groups?
For the same interactive report, I want one set of users to see a default where the default filter is based on column X. However, another group of users doesn't have authorization to see that column so I need to set the default filter to something else for them.
ThanksYou can set a filter on a report in a URL - would that help? I think with apex 4.x you can also link to a saved default report or alternative report...

How to call function in INteractive Report!!
Hi All,
After investing on interactive report i have came to know that we can have only sql query but not Dynamic Sql query!
By using PIPELINED FUNCTIONS we can use dynamic sql in Apex Interactive Reports.
Here is the url for refernece- http://sungur.wordpress.com/2009/10/11/apex-interactive-reports-with-dynamic-sql/
When i had tried to implement the the above one it is throwing error as
Query cannot be parsed, please check the syntax of your query. (ORA-06575: Package or function GET_TABLE_ROWS2 is in an invalid state)
Can any one help me out how to overcome the scenerio and resolve the problem?
Since it is urgent can any one help me out to resolve it.
Thanks in Advance,
Anoo..Hi Anoo,
Step 4:
Create a process that will populate the heading page items with the relevant column name values from the dynamic query. This can be done by splitting the select line using the commas and extracting the dynamic column headers.This is Nothing But in Interactive report the column name is taking as a heading for every column, Otherwise we can go to change the column heading in report attributes(STEP 3).
What they said we can try to change the column head dynamically.
Like Ex:
Select ename "Employee Name" from emp;The above Example we are taking ename but it displayed as Employee Name.
I tried that but its taking 50 columns cant write that much of query.
Now you got it?
Cheers,
Shan.. -
How to controll column width in report ?
Dear All,
i have created Classic Report but here Column width is too large.
i want to controll column width in report .
How can i do this..
ThanksHi Vedant,
There are two possibilities in your case.
1.width of your column heading is too large.
include break in your column heading
for ex .. column heading is employee department number then write it as *[Employee(br)Department(br)Number]* // replace ( with < and ) with > in br
2) Value is too large
Go to Report Attributes->edit your column->column formatting->css style
In CSS style put this display:block;width:100px;white-space:wrap
Hope this will helps you,
Thanks,

How To Schedule an Hyperion Interactive Reporting Dashboard
Hi . Can somebody let me know on how to schedule an Interactive REporting Dashboard Report and Export the output in PDF and Email the user.i can see the output in HTML when i schedule a pivot, Chart but i dont see anything when i try to schedule a Dashboard . Any pointers in Greatly appreciated
Once you have the dashboard scheduled to run/ process your queries.
Go to run the job. In there you will need to edit the cycle by clicking on Modify
(This will open another page)
Under the Actions sections there is a part that says
Add a(n) select the drop down that says Email Section.
This will take you to anther window where you can select the section you want to output (in your case the Report)

Displaying different colors for cells/columns in Interactive Report
Hi,
I have a requirement to display just the 'cells' in the Interactive Report columns with different colors.
There are 3 columns in the Interactive report.
The color coding for all the 3 different columns should be such that:
<40% - red color
40-70-orange
greater than 70%-green
I tried the highlight option in the report and saved the report as default, but still the color condition ended up getting displayed to the end user. I dont want this.
Can someone suggest a better way to handle this requirement?Perhaps explore similar solutions described here
