HELP!!! (iHome not charging iPod)

Why isn't my new iHome charging my iPod 4th generation but still playing music through it?

Oh my friend has an iHome and i have the 4g ipod. I use it and the same problem happened with me but try moving your ipod around and once you find the perfect spot where it charges, try to put something to hold it there. With my friend, she put a rubberband on it to keep the ipod in place. Oh one more thing is that if you hvae a case on your ipod, you will need to take it off.

  • "made for iPod" product will not charge iPod

I bought an RCA radio/speaker dock for my iPod. The iPod will play on it but will not charge. The RCA manual says the iPod will charge if it is in standby mode. Is there a standby mode on the nano 3rd gen? I've contacted RCA support & they have been no help at all.
    Thanks for the help.

Have no idea what they mean by standby mode unless they are referring to holding down the play button and putting it to sleep.
Sounds like this is an older unit that is not able to charge the latest ipods, beginning with the 3rd Generation Nano. I would return the unit.

    IMAC G5 20" INTEL, IPHONE 8G, IMAC G4 17", IPOD 60G   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Same thing happened to me. Suddenly, I could not charge from the wall outlet. To test it, I also tried to charge my iPod from the unit and it didn't work. Went to Apple Store and got a new USB wall charger, even though the Genius guy gave me a hard time and was convinced nothing was wrong with my charger. He exchanged it, I took the new one home and it works perfectly.
I have read that other people's chargers are defective, too. Hope this helps.

  • HELP ipad not charging or connecting to pc

ipad 1 doesnt charge unless it is turned off fully it does not say anything on the batery sign i want to restore it but i can cause it doesnt show up on the pc or laptop

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Generic USB auto charger will not charge iPod Classic 80Gb

I have two generic USB auto plug adapters that deliver the USB standard 5VDC, 500Ma output. My 3G iPod charges from either of these using the Apple-supplied USB cable. My iPod Classic 80Gb appears to receive power from these, but will not charge. Is an Apple-sanctioned auto charger required, or does the Classic not charge from such sources? If the later, which I doubt, back it goes to as this "breaks" the Classic for me. If the former, might anyone know why this is the case with the Classic? I sincerely hope it's not a thinly veiled excuse to drive sales of Apple-sanctioned auto chargers which may also drive me to return it out of resentment (I returned a Creative Xen Micro Photo since it also would not charge from these whereas the older Zen Micro did. The Micro Photo required a $30 charger from Creative with a large, in-line "lump" possibly for the "magic charging handshake").

    Thanks for the reply.
"I assume the iPod charges with the SAME cable when plugged into a computer?"
Yes, the iPod charges with the same cable when plugged into a computer, even one without iTunes installed.
I opened both of the chargers and see that all four lines are connected. I'll break out my voltmeter and see what pins are powered and compared them with those on my computer and go from there. According the following URL, pins 1 and 4 are for power and pins 2-3 are for data: http://www.hardwarebook.info/UniversalSerial_Bus(USB)
I may also try a dedicated iPod auto charger as these are not too expensive.

  • MacBook Pro not charging iPod Touch 4G!

Hello. Today I plugged in my iPod Touch 4th Generation into my 2011 MacBook Pro 13" and it started charging, but about 15 seconds later it would stop charging it and I would have to unplug it and then plug it to charge it again. I grew suspicious that something was wrong with my iPod and not my Mac, but when I plugged my iPod into an outlet, it charged all the way with no problems. Is something in my MacBook denying the charging of my iPod Touch 4G and how do I fix it??
I also don't want this to effect syncing issues as well, and converting music to iTunes from my iPod.

Did you tried rebooting the Mac?
    Tried another USB port?
    Did it work OK before?
When the Mac sleeps the USB ports will not charge the iPod.

  • Bose SoundDock will not charge ipod touch

I bought a Bose sound dock to charge my 80gb ipod  with video a few years ago. Apple has changed the pin layout and my new ipod touch will play, but not charge on the sound dock.  Does anyone know if I can change the pins or buy a crossover cable?  Love the sound of my new ipod touch on the dock, but without charging ability, it does not last long.

Could it be that your 80GB iPod used Firewire?  Older iPods did.  Firewire uses 12 volts whereas the modern iDevices use USB which is 5 volts.  I am afraid that any change is configuration would damage either the Dock or the iPod.

  • Help- windows not recognising Ipod shuffle first installation

    What do I do?
I tried following the steps but it failed in the formatting. Now windows is not recognising it so I can restore it to factory settings.
Can someone give me a step by step guide what to do. The help section is awful confusing and the chatt section is saying I bought by suffle in jan not yesterday.
Currently i have it plug in with me in the net cafe and the light is green.

Windows will not recognise my ipod shuffle, I have
tried reinstalling it, when I try playing music it
    just clicks.
I still have I Tunes, just cannot connect the Ipod to
update. I have had it for four months, I am afraid
it may be a fault with the ipod, any ideas? The pop

Did you ever get an answer? My shuffle is not being recognized by windows either.

  • CD-iB100ii not charging Ipod anymore?

I have a CD-iB100ii installed in my car, and recently I've noticed that it has stopped charging my Ipod (If I remember correctly, right around the time that I installed 2.0, but I can't be sure). When I plug in my Ipod, it shows the icon like its charging, but the battery life never increases (i plugged the unit in when I was leaving work, and the battery didn't move the entire 45 minutes home). The songs play fine and it does this whether I'm using it or not. During the process, the Ipod also gets warm like its charging. I checked all connections that I make during installation, and everything is installed properly. The Ipod works fine and charges like its suppose to on the computer, so this it doesn't sound like a problem with the Ipod. Pioneer doesn't want to replace or fix the unit under warranty because I don't have the receipt (bought it six months ago, those receipts just walk in that amount of time) so I either use it like it is or buy something else (this unit was clearance at Best Buy, so maybe they aren't making this one anymore?). Three questions, one if I use it in the car, since the Ipod isn't taking a charge, will it damage the Ipod in any way? Second, has anybody had anything like this happen to them before? Third, is there anything you recommend I so or check?

    Hello there
I have just installed the same iPod adapter to my Pioneer DEH-6600 head unit
I am not having charging issues
But I just posted a question asking if it is possible to control my iTouch directly rather than from the head unit
Are you using your head unit to control your iTouch?
Or are you able to control the music directly from your iTouch?
    Please let me know
    Cheers

  • HELP IPHONE NOT CHARGING!

Hi, I am an avid Apple user and have had several Apple computers. I am currently using a 15.4 Macbook Pro. I recently updated my iPhone to 1.1.3 (the latest January update) and it was fine for about a week. Now, it won't charge in the adapter, and when I plug it into my computer I get a USB Over Current notice. I have tried 5 different ipod/iphone USB cables and nothing works! Is it the phone, the computer or the USB port??? **I was finally able to get it to charge using my car charger though.....
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

My husbands phone was doing the same thing. It turns out, the phone was "stuck" showing the battery slightly filled with red. I tried to restore his phone and, the first time, it failed. I proceeded to restore, again, but this time the restore worked and I re-synced his phone with his info (we only have 1 computer so I end up doing all the work). As soon as the restore was complete, his battery was full green on the screen. He hasn't had any problems with the battery since, so you really should try a restore if you already haven't done so.
If a restore doesn't work, call 800-my-iphone. Its the new Apple Tech support specifically for iPhone and, unlike Applecare Tech Support for all other mac prod., they are open 24/7.
    Hope this helps, good luck!

  • Wall chargers not charging iPod fully?

    Hello,
I just bought the new iPod Video a couple of days ago. When connected to my computer (by the USB cable that came with the iPod), after I disconnect it, the iPod battery icon indicates the battery is fully charged. However, when using the wall charger I bought from Apple, the battery charges to about 3/4 of the way, or a little bit more, but not fully. I also tried my older firewire AC adapter and that had the same problem. Yet again though, the computer charged it fully. Anyone know what's going on here?
    Thanks,
    ben

Blame it on the battery in the iPod - they are strange things. Plus I have noticed on my 60 Gig video iPod, sometimes the battery will only show a full charge when I have completely discharged the battery. This happens whether I use the computer to charge it or the wall plug.

  • Help. iPhone not charging on PC running Win 7 32 bit.

    Hi,
I am having issues with my iPhone 5 not connecting with my computer. I am running Windows 7 32bit on a Dell Optiplex 790. Periodically the computer will stop reading/charging my iPhone. The most recent version of iTunes has been installed, and all the USB ports used check out fine. The issue seems to be resolved after the computer is rebooted but after a week the connection will stop working. The issue has affected both my old iPhone 4s and now my iPhone 5. I am wondering if I anyone has had this periodic issue and what they did to permanently resolve it.
    Thanks George

  • Need Help, iTunes not reading iPod.

I have had this 160GB iPod since October of 07 and it has worked perfectly...until last night...it just stopped playing any of my songs and just kept on changing to the next song looking for one that would play.
I tried restoring it but I guess something happened while it was restoring and now iTunes won't freaking read it. I can't restore it again, I can't even get it too work with iTunes...
If anybody knows how to fix this...please tell me...

    Hey there,
Have you tried putting the iPod into Disk Mode and see if that helps? To put it into Disk Mode, hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears. When it does, immediately press and hold the Center an Play/Pause buttons until you see a confirmation that your iPod has been put into Disk Mode. If it does reappear, it would be a good idea to try and restore it again. Hope this helps.
